Solid review Edd, as always. I wish the shoe companies would produce outsoles that don't collect small rocks like this model. It can't be that hard to do. Still, I'll be tempted to pick it up once I've worn out the nimbus 24, which I'm enjoying as a road and rehab trainer.
ASICS is putting on the full-court press with the Gel Nimbus 25 - a large number of reviews in just a few days. This is interesting but I definitely don't need another max-cushioned shoe right now. Went on a spending spree over the past few months with all the massive sales going on in the US so I'm pretty well stocked for the coming year. I got the Boston 11 and the Nimbus 24 and I like both a lot but all due respect to Adidas, the Gel-Nimbus 24 is a much better shoe overall and quite faster for me. While the super bouncy and low stack height Nimbus is a much more stable and faster every where. Btw I preffered the Adios 6 over the Boston 11 since it is faster and more comfortable to me since it is more stable because the low stack middlesole. I will see if the Boston 11 will also lose in stability to the Nimbus 25 ... for now FF Blast Plus is much more effective then the rods...
@@EDDBUD Your slow is kind of fast for me so something around 5:20 to 5:50 min/km for distances over 14km would be the target. Trying to find something without plate, more tradicional, lighter like the old razor 3, the hyperion tempo (could be wider in the midfoot) a more forgiving SL20 OG for longer distances (for me its up to 10k). Great review again Ed. Can't decide between these and Invincible 3s though. The Nimbus 24s were really disappointing and I think the Novablast 3 was the most over-hyped shoe of 2022. My concern is these are just a slightly heavier Novablast 3. It's meant I've ended up using Invincibles 1 & 2 on most runs for the last year (including two marathons) - which i'm happy with as I've still got two pairs of 2s rotating and I don't do a great amount of speed work lol. I'm waiting for some 'real-world' reviews on the Invincible 3s. I notice you mentioned these were fine on wet/damp surfaces - better than NB3?
Reebok Symmetros 2 still costs £60 seriously how does that compare to this shoe worth over £150. I do prefer the looks of Gel Nimbus 24, do you think 24 still outperforms this in some areas?
I hadnt watched your review on these until after I purchased them. I know, blasphem. I agree with your comparison to the Invincibles. As you may know I loved the Invincible 2's. These feel like a slightly less bouncy, but way more controlled squish. Although I have seen people mention the weight on these, I did not even feel them on feet because the upper is fitted so well. These eat up the pavement but be Extra careful on areas where there might be light gravel on dirt, covering a harder surface. We have had a lot of rain here lately and the streets and pathways often times will have light dirt and debris, sticks whatnot, and those are Dangerous in these shoes. Like stepping on ice. Be careful. I really only noticed the Rocker feeling when I was trying them on, as my 1080's do that as well, but I love that feeling. I am also have a relatively slim build so I may not always get everything out of the foam, I really do on the Rockers. My 1080's on the front of both shoes, are almost completely smooth from being on those toes so much. I think it is a great advent over the past many years, as I just returned to running about a year and a half ago. Overall I have been super happy with these new Nimbus 25's. I have had them for the past several weeks, as I was replacing my 1080 v12, that I wore far more often than my Invincibles, because of the stability the 1080 offered over the Invincible. I feel like this shoe splits the difference for me. It gives me more bouncy cushion that the 1080's, but more stability than the Invincible 2's. I would not even entertain the thought of trying on, or purchasing, that Invincible 3's after they shamelessly stole your idea. Thank you for being thorough, as always. And btw, the heal collar feels fantastic, its made for people who DONT wear socks, let me tell yah😂
I am looking at this shoe, been using a lot of zoomx ie Invincible, peg Turbo 2 when they were out, and vapor/Alphafly, but unfortunately, not sure if coincidentally, I got 2 knee injuries using the Alphafly in 2 marathons. Vaporfly’s fine, but my local running store run hub, recommends these for coming back from stress fracture. Any thoughts for using these for half and full marathons? I am doing a run walk run strategy to avoid further knee adventures
That list of prices from the various competitors is insane, companies are taking the biscuit with how much they're charging for their trainers now. £175 for a one trick trainer is ridiculous
haha, yes I think it was only released last year. I picked it up on sale in Australia, and will have time to wait to put more kms on the 24 before collecting the nimbus 25 on sale in due course.
I recently picked up a pair of Asics Novablast 3 for 90 euros (they were so hyped last year 😝) and they're fine for doing a chunk of my marathon training in. But the Nimbus 25 can't be that much better, can it?
@@simonedimarzio2557 And I picked up a pair of Hoka Speedgoat 5 for 112 euros (which are great!) so I guess I have 2 pairs of shoes for that amount. But sometimes it's difficult to not get carried away with new releases 😁
Great review Edd, still looking for a marathon training shoe as i had to send my Supercomp Trainers back as they were too small, contemplating Magic Speed 2 as I can get a pair for £90 delivered, would appreciate your thoughts. I'm wanting a shoe for longer, marathon pace, runs at 7.40/mile pace
Is Asics Gel NIMBUS 25 lighter than NB More V4? I am resuming my runs 2 months after metatarsal fracture repair surgery. I am in search of highly, maximum cushioned daily trainer for my achy surgical foot. More V 4 is very high-stacked, but a bit clunky under my feet.
@@EDDBUD Interesting, this could be the perfect replacement for ultraboost if not for the rocker shaped, curvy forefoot. Will it be uncomfortable for long hours walking with the curvy forefoot?
it is a baby son that came from the marriage of nimbus and nimbus lite. I dont believe this model will last like previous models. But it is fair to say that the market is going this way so cant blame Asics really...
shouldn't the drop scale up with the shoe size as well? I've been thinking about that for a while now. if the drop stayed the same, the angle would be less dramatic the longer the foot.
In my opinion you are better off just spending a little more and getting the Superblast as it can do everything the Nimbus 25 can do and much more. Asics have shot themselves in the foot bringing out that Superblast as it could relegate many of their shoes providing you don't mind paying a little more for it. In regards to the Nimbus its good to see some proper updates to a shoe for once. I must admit I had the 24 and didn't get on with it, I sold mine with less than 30 miles on them, just found it super boring and lifeless. The 25 does look like it has potential but for me it's a nay and I'll steer towards that Superblast instead 🏃🏻
@Paul I was interested in the SuperBlast (even though I’d just recently purchased the NovaBlast3) and tried it on at the CIM Expo in Dec. I was very impressed with the responsiveness/bounciness but 1. Couldn’t get a lockdown close to as good as the NovaBlast3 (as a female maybe because it’s unisex?) and 2. It felt like the stiffness would not agree with me on the very long runs in my marathon training. I generally don’t favor super soft shoes but I’m looking specifically for something protective for those and I could tell the SuperBlast would not be the most forgiving. So far I’ve been using the NB 1080 for long runs along with my older pairs of Endorphin Speeds and plan to break out the NovaBlast for some of those as well.
interesting approach of Asics; no longer a "old" nimbus; but imho this shouldn't be called nimbus. It gets gets more simplified construction approach which basically relies on the foam instead of the structural design. I doubt it will last 1k millage like those "classic" Asics. side note: I am still keeping my gt2000 v3 that already last 1k+ kms; for my easy and walk; really curious how many more km it can take lol the only shoes that I personally had that can reach 3digit kms, yet still feel more luxurious than those so called modern minimalist design from other brand :)
@@lifephorce at that price for that use case it has to be a Nay for me. Besides have always struggled with ASICS - terribly inconsistent sizing (easily the worst brand for that IMHO) and a company that does not want to invest in making their "best" shoes for bigger feet runners like myself & FOD Runner so am reluctant to send them a woad of cash for their middle tier products when I have no "upgrade" path to their best ones.

Thanks.
Wait why not just get novas? The new nimbus just seems like a nerfed version of the novas
This is aimed I think at easy stuff or longer runs perhaps at slow pace. Something I found didn’t work in the nova.
You might like a new vlog on the Running Warehouse YT channel which is a ten minute history of the evolution of the Gel Nimbus from the initial version to the new space age version 25. A bona fide Asics classic...."History of the ASICS Gel Nimbus | The Best Nimbus Models Over The Years (Nimbus 1 - Nimbus 25)"
Seems like they have Hokarised the Nimbus 😞. Really liked the 24, but not sure whether this is for me...
It’s not like a Hoka on foot. Way better upper and cushion
I have sz 12 Nimbus 24 waiting for you.
Edd Great Video as always , however at 11:59 you are talking about the SC trainer but state the Reebok shoe is good , Think you mean New Balance , also very "late in the evening" to be dropping a new video, Did you see what I did there? Dropped in a line from a musical interlude .
No I meant the energy x as mentioned on screen.
But any trustic plate this time ? The 25s look great and a sleek silhouette too....
No other bits other than the gel insert in the heel.
@@EDDBUD It looks great....big difference from the Nimbus 23.....
Hard to say if the invincible 3 will be the one. Will grab it on release and see where it fits.
The Nimbus 25 are much more stable than the Invincible Run. I prefer them.
A nice looking shoe, wonder will asics do the same with the gel cumulus??
I imagine it may get the same treatment perhaps?
Reebok Symmetros 2 still costs £60 seriously how does that compare to this shoe worth over £150. I do prefer the looks of Gel Nimbus 24, do you think 24 still outperforms this in some areas?
SportsShoes were offering Asics Nimbus 24 for £69.99 recently.
Symmetros is the best value long run beast out there
Nimbus 24 feels good trying on, but they bottom out. Ain't THAT cushy or bouncy.
No socks?! 🤣👍🏼
Have you heard anything of the saucony endorphin elite? If you google it there are two reviews of it but the article is not available for reading 🤔
I will mention this in the next video later today!
And now it seems to be removed. But it definetly was there in december 😅
Certainly a firmer shoe by todays squash standards. The very compressive midsoles aren’t for all of us.
@@EDDBUD just got a pair of nimbus 25s love them feel more bouncy that invincible and left my legs fresh after 5 miles
Thanks for the review and being an awesome person
@@gothamandcheeseguyrunningv1601 Much appreciated 👍🏼👊
That list of prices from the various competitors is insane, companies are taking the biscuit with how much they're charging for their trainers now. £175 for a one trick trainer is ridiculous
It’s a high price for sure. They all area these days aside from reebok
I think it will be fine as a daily trainer for a lot of people.
Remember "Max Headroom"?......your videos with the quirky mini edits remind me of that
Need to bring those back
Wait, didn't they recently release the gel nimbus 24? 👀
haha, yes I think it was only released last year. I picked it up on sale in Australia, and will have time to wait to put more kms on the 24 before collecting the nimbus 25 on sale in due course.
Very odd slow release on that in some areas. Been out for ages here
@@George-lz6ue woah nice.
@@EDDBUD yeah probably
It is a great shoe no doubts on it, but 200€ of street price for a daily trainer...
Sadly the pricing is going this way. Though durability wise the price I believe will warrant the longevity
I recently picked up a pair of Asics Novablast 3 for 90 euros (they were so hyped last year 😝) and they're fine for doing a chunk of my marathon training in. But the Nimbus 25 can't be that much better, can it?
@@simoneavery2253 better maybe, two times better than your Novablast...I don't think so
@@simonedimarzio2557 And I picked up a pair of Hoka Speedgoat 5 for 112 euros (which are great!) so I guess I have 2 pairs of shoes for that amount. But sometimes it's difficult to not get carried away with new releases 😁
@@simoneavery2253 this is what Asics is leveraging on 🤣
Great review Edd, still looking for a marathon training shoe as i had to send my Supercomp Trainers back as they were too small, contemplating Magic Speed 2 as I can get a pair for £90 delivered, would appreciate your thoughts. I'm wanting a shoe for longer, marathon pace, runs at 7.40/mile pace
The super comp seems to tie in with standard new balance sizing which is too small for me in a uk 11 and on the larger side in a uk 11.5.
Not sure as I haven’t tried the 4.
I'm thinking the 4mm drop of the More3 is messing w/ my knees. 6-8 seems to be the sweet spot.
Is the midsole feel like Puma Velocity Nitro 2? Or a little bit more softer and responsive?
Much softer and more of it.
@@EDDBUD Interesting, this could be the perfect replacement for ultraboost if not for the rocker shaped, curvy forefoot. Will it be uncomfortable for long hours walking with the curvy forefoot?
@@danieltay1052 maybe a more standard shoe would be better for walking in all honesty.
@@EDDBUD honesty is the best policy, u got my subs for it
edd doing the stray cat strut today
What??? These are better than the SC Trainer? I have to get these now
Yes. New video might be helpful 👍🏼
Nice!🎉
Thanks! 😁
Asics Nimbus 25 vs Adidas 4DFWD 2, which one do you think is better?
Not tried the 4d so can’t comment too much there
I hope it does not have a meta rocker like feel as do the Hoka's
It does have a little of that feel. But the foam is that bit softer
@@EDDBUD Thank you
Edd, this looks great for just casual/walking. Am I on the right lines?
Maybe a bit too cushioned for that. If that is a thing.
it is a baby son that came from the marriage of nimbus and nimbus lite. I dont believe this model will last like previous models. But it is fair to say that the market is going this way so cant blame Asics really...
The 24 didn’t work for me, maybe the 25 will?
Very different shoe
shouldn't the drop scale up with the shoe size as well? I've been thinking about that for a while now. if the drop stayed the same, the angle would be less dramatic the longer the foot.
Drop seems to stay the same regardless of the stack scaling on over 100 shoes I’ve tried.
@@EDDBUD 🤔 interesting
If you don't size up 0.5 a size will these be too tight? I ordered my true US12 size.
You should be fine.
Just got the Nimbus 25..100% diff from the 24. Like whut?
Yes it couldn’t be any more different!
How flexible is the sole of the shoe? I love asics but I'm also a forefoot/toes runner so I need a little bit of flexibility there.
More flexible than sc trainer though the mid to forefoot is rocker like. No plate here though.
Is it more comfortable than New Balance fresh foam more v4 ?
Not tried the more 4
This one or Novablast 3, seem very comparable?
Novablast is a bit nimbler shoe. This is going to be mostly recovery/easy/slow long run type of shoe.
I have a Nimbus 24 and just got a Novablast 3. I think I'll be skipping this iteration of the Nimbus.
I have a lightly used pair of Nimbus 24 sz 12 for sale.
Are these more comparable to NB More V4 or 1080 v 12?
Tried the v11. Neither of the other two. It’s close to a new balance but with more forward drop off from mid to forefoot.
Haven’t tried that one yet
I doubt it will last 1k millage like those "classic" Asics.
side note: I am still keeping my gt2000 v3 that already last 1k+ kms; for my easy and walk; really curious how many more km it can take lol
the only shoes that I personally had that can reach 3digit kms, yet still feel more luxurious than those so called modern minimalist design from other brand :)
The upper is great. Hardly there which is what an upper should be. A bit like a good referee.
What do you think about the predicted durability?
Asics rubber is insanely good. The midsole foam is more tear resistant than zoomx for sure.
Getting nimbus 25 for $40 from my work. Worth the try I guess
40?! That’s a very good price.
@@EDDBUD yeah companies give the workers a special deal so they will wear the shoes and are more likely to sell them to customers.
Umm £175 for a slow day only shoe that sounds like would be 400g in a UK 13 for me. Not convinced.
It’s going to be heavy in your size tim. No escaping that.

@@TimGrose agreed.. poor sizing for me too. Also if it's like the invincible it's a definite no for me.. especially at that price!
