A Day Trip to Brighton | British Seaside Town at its Best!

- We rode the Triumph Bonneville down to Brighton on the south east coast of England.
It makes for a brilliant day trip as it’s easily reachable from London in about 60-75 minutes. There’s something special about Brighton- it’s constantly bustling and has a brilliantly unique vibe with an eclectic mix of people, a beach stretching for miles and a great selection of restaurants and coffee shops.

I gotta say, the more of your videos I watch (I'm about halfway through the channel), the more Bonnevilles grow on me.
Always a Brighton Boy, and a fellow rider, but now living in Houston Texas, thank you for giving me a glimpse of my home town !!
Morning Freddie... Awesome videos and music to go along 🎶👌 Wife and I visited Brighton touring from Edinburgh and in particular Nanninela after your recommendation 👍 The pizzas are up there with the best we've had and you definitely feel you are in Italy inside the beautiful wee restaurant 🇮🇹👌 Thanks again and keep the videos coming sir 🙏🤓
As an expat Down under i’m loving your vids and making a list of places when I come back to visit! Isle of Wight, Brighton etc Will have to hire a bike too! Keep up the great content 👍
Thanks very much Nick, great to hear there are watchers all the way over in Australia!🙂
For the non-Brits, Brits abroad never call themselves immigrants, hence ex-pats.
The format of your channel just resonates with me! I always look forward to your uploads.
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thanks Freddie and Monica
Good day to ya….My heart stopped when helmet went down…happened to me on a trip out west to Arizona…..know exactly how ya felt. Keep up with your vids……love the scenery.
I feel your pain with the helmet drop Freddie 😞 but it looked like a brilliant day out. Another great job by Monica 😊
Great video Freddie + Monica , what a lovely day to visit Brighton, I'm making a list of places to visit , motorcycles and day trips what a combination
I have no beach days in my near future, so thank you for the virtual escape! 😎
Wonderful way to start my Sunday: cappuccino and watching one of your videos. Thanks, and keep going.
No new video from India so I found an old one I’ve missed! Lovely day out in the sun. Thank you Monica & Freddie
There’s definitely something special about Brighton. While visiting last week we saw the singing barber, what an unexpected treat. Only a city like Brighton can do this.
Off to Brighton today, first trip together on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan, very excited. Thanks for the tips 🙂
Lovely, as always. It does look very much like Santa Cruz or Santa Monica (named for Saint Monika, of course) but without surf. I do hope you can make it to California some time as you would be able to make some great videos riding between about Dana Point and Santa Cruz. One more thing: I literally LOL'd when you said the beach was packed...during your pause I really thought you were going to say empty. Come to Zuma on any warm weekend to see packed. Keep it up!
Another touchdown Freddie, thanks.
as an expat here in Thailand, was a great trip down memory lane. Back soon I hope.
How we miss Thailand😪😎❤
Cool vlog , I did a South coast tour with a good friend in the first week of June this year.. we left Peterborough in Cambs to head for Lands End...four days later we ended up in Brighton..pukka end to the roadtrip...only 164 miles til we got home , I was riding a 2006 Triumph Speedmaster 😁
Total mileage 964 miles 👍
Fantastic!!
Never been, might pop down for breakfast before the summer ends. Says 3hr 40min from mine, sure I can cut that down, especially if there's a Gregg's waiting for me. Great vids Freddie as always.
Brighton looks very gentrified these days. Graham Greene set his book Brighton Rock there. You should have gone east into Kemp Town that was always a very arty area. There are some beautiful houses up on Clifton Hill and Dyke Road, yes Dyke Road in Brighton. I heard they built a huge motorway ring road around the town to the north since I was last there. The Lanes were always worth a slow stroll through.
Brighton was always a flash point on Bank Holidays for mods and rockers to do battle. Rottingdean a short ride east was always nice.
Thanks for making and sharing. You're helmet will be fine. Just get some black boot polish to lose the scratches on it.
I‘ve been to Brigthon around 15 years ago. Good to see all those great places again, brings back alot of memories. Thank you!
I got my first motorcycle in early May, a 2018 Triumph Street Scrambler, and your videos have really inspired me to get out more and search out places like this. Love what you're doing, keep it up.
So glad you enjoyed your day out in my home town and for showing it at its best , top tip don’t ever come down in your car , the parking is so expensive and spaces at a premium , stick to your bike only and enjoy another day by the sea.
One of my absolute favourite places in the UK- I love it!🙂. And thank you for sharing the heads up regarding cars and parking!
another FANTASTIC vid from you guys. You’re awesome, keep up the great work 👍👏🇬🇧
Thanks for another cool vid Freddie & Monika, you make a great team & your vids always chill me out, oops about the helmet,Brighton looks fab & fun, just got back from a 3hr ride out on my Trident, now it's had it's first service i can open the revs a bit more, look forward to your next vid, happy riding👍
Thanks Adrian!! I hope you’re loving the Trident!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Always great content, really enjoyed the video!!
Gutted u dropped your helmet, but glad you did not cut it out either!!
Makes for a proper video, we all have these mishaps!!
Enjoying my Freddie Dobbs (and Monika) marathon this beautiful Sunday morning. Another great video. You mentioned the the California vibes in Brighton. Have you been to the US? If you have and ever come back, hit me up! Thanks for the videos!
Really loving the way you put your videos together ✊
I love your style , simple and elegant, very British.
A great day out! Cool as ever. Reminded me of the Brighton scenes in Quadrophenia, especially when they're riding down there from London on scooters. Here up north we have Blackpool, a different animal and definitely British - sun if you're lucky, far away sea, fat people, seedy hotels, and chips, chips, chips!
I love the channel, i can stop to look at the videos in it.
Love the Triumph (i own a blue frame SpeedTriple SE 2013) and seriously considering buying a t120 or a HD Fatbob still not made my mind.
Congrats to Monika for all her work in the channel.
Already, I have learned from your previous videos putting down that delicate helmet on the ground...always great to have with you the ever cheerful Monika.
Good vibe video! I live in London and been to Brighton a few times. My own experience is that the only nice place there is the Marina area, the rest is not attractive at all with no sandy beach, lots of concrete and pebbles, and a lot of rubbish. My advice is visit once when it's sunny and then save for a trip to some proper seaside in the Med, or jump on a ferry and explore northern France which is far nicer. If you want a nice ride or drive in that area, go to Beachy Head which offers really good views and have a picnic there.
I always put my helmet on the floor now. Done that too often. I used to enjoy doing a day trip to Brighton from London in the 90s/00s. Live abroad since 2011. Nice jacket/shirt. Looks good on you. Great video. I have subscribed.
Thank you!!
The English tourism board should hire you two as ambassadors for tourism ! Seriously! You're definitely promoting interest in England and showing places that definitely get overlooked.
. In Northern California we got Santa Cruz and is Southern California, the got Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Wish ours had motorcycle parking up front!
We parked in that underground car park where you were standing , £12 for 3 hrs , but we did find a delicious whether spoons
Wonderful. Day 😎😎
As a California native Brighton has always remind me of Huntington Beach here in Orange County! The pier, the waterfront road and the general feeling. It was by far the warmest day i experienced in the whole of the UK! A wonderful city full if history and charm!
That beach.... Wonderful! I come to think Cali or Florida or some place else. Not ol´ Blighty. Great vid as usual, keep up the good work!
…and another pretty good video. I like your stories and the kind of telling. Today I did nearly the same as you - but it was in Bavaria. A trip to the lake Ammersee (near Munich)… Keep doing that 😉
Thanks Andreas, I hope you had a good ride and you’re not too badly affected by the floods!
@@FreddieDobbs Thank you, Freddie. Everything is still fine in our neighbourhood. Only rhe rivers have floods… I‘m looking forward to your next video. Best wishes Andreas
Haha Brighton looks like the south of France on the twelve days a year you get this weather. The rest of the year it's freezing cold with horizontal rain 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Never forget my first Ace Cafe Brighton run, literally over 1000 bikes riding in convoy (well sort of) Ace Cafe London to Brighton. What a fun experience the town was overwhelmed with bikes of all kinds, my sports bike nearly overheated in the slow ride into the centre but I made it - should do this again, maybe next year 😊
A great day out. I enjoyed it, thanks. (And you christened the helmet - what a relief!) 👍
Every helmet needs to be christened!😆. Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks!🙂
I absolutely love Brighton, think I might have to pop down there tonight after work...REALLY want a pizza now...great vid as always Freddie....ride safe
I’m a new rider “Triumph street scrambler” amazing bike and loving your content! Touch of class 👌
Well done young fella and ladey a lovely.post card you are doing it right stay happy
Cool video, thanks for sharing.
Best pizza ever! 🥰 Looks like you two had a brilliant day trip!🌞 Another cool video Fred and Monika, well done! 👌🏼
Thanks Runsaiou!!😃. The pizza is INCREDIBLE!!
A new roadtrip is forming in my head. You make it look very nice over there.
Excellent! A perfect day. Brighton was my university town in the 1970s and remains a favourite. That parking by the beach is a great spot; not just for parking but just to stop and review the bikes. Love the music and the shot of your shadows on the way back. Great work Thanks.
Thanks Terry, it's brilliant to see such a thriving seaside town!!
Honestly that helmet is probably still fine. Just a couple of scratches is all. Brilliant vlog. Brighton is really pretty.
Another great video. Thanks for taking us along, Freddie and Monika!
Really looking forward to hearing more thoughts on the Speedmaster!
Another great video. I consider Brighton my home town and you’ve done it proud. Makes me want to visit home again 😄👍
Looks like a glorious day.
Nice video,you two are great.
Hi , a nice day out , NO MODS AND ROCKERS , no police charging down the streets . How life has changed over the years , but Brighton goes on in one of most dignified ways considering the amount of visitors . Nice music through out the video ,sets the tempo just right , now put Quadrophenia in the back ground and see how it might change the mood . Thanks for another great video , ride and stay safe , both of you .
Haha yesss, the famous Brighton beach clash! This was a slightly calmer day!😆
More comedy gold Freddie -- thanks. Just use a black permanent marker on the scratches and try to forget that you ever dropped it ;-). Appreciate the camerawork and editing.
Thanks Stephen- I'm always a big fan of a quick fix so LOVE this!😀
Unfortunately I would have to suggest that the helmet is now not fit for purpose. The impact it took from that height onto concrete has structurally damaged it beyond repair. Admire it now as a piece of garage furniture.
Ahhhh mate bringing up some memories from when I lived in Brighton for a couple of years. Even captured my old workplace, The Ivy!
One of the reasons I got my bike license when I got back to Aus was seeing my housemate in Brighton enjoy the freedom of being on two wheels!
Once this covid situation is sorted I’ll be getting back to ride around Brighton and then up north in Scotland for sure!
Keep up the great content mate!
No way! Glad we captured your old work spot!🙂
Scotlands very high on my list- I've never done it but must do it soon!
Thanks Oscar🤜🤛
looks beautiful. I really want to go into the Royal Pavillion, and look forward to riding pillion again, as soon as hubby buys his new bike. Makes me homesick for England x
It's an amazing place for a day out!🙂
I would like to say fantastic video, your lid with be fine! Your reviews, trips and style of presenting refreshing and engaging! For a good ride out try Battle and Hastings (old town), then out to Bodiam Castle.Take care and keep up the good work!
Thanks Keith- fantastic location shouts!🙂
I love Brighton. Going to try the pizzeria out next time I visit 👍🏻
Great video Freddie, great music & editing, secrets safe with me !
My old university town (I studied at Sussex) and make a point of visiting every year. Great video, Freddie
Thanks Conor, what a place for uni nights out I can imagine!!
You're not the first man to come away from Brighton with a damaged helmet
It's normally the exhaust that gets destroyed.
@@Grandmastergav86 🤣 true!
@@Grandmastergav86 is there a lot of speed bumps?
Another great video. Curious what Monica's riding gear is?
Thanks Frank! Monika doesn't have a huge selection of riding gear, but she wore a pair of Rokker jeans (her favourite jeans) and a Garibaldi Heritage jacket, as well as my Exclusive Rage (Shiny Black) helmet🙂
Thank you Freddie ( and Monica). Great travelogue. So good to see Brighton encouraging motorcylists to visit with free and very convenient parking. It's something many other places can learn from. When you initially parked next to the scooters it made me think of 'mods' and 'Rockers' and the soundtrack to the film Quadrophenia by The Who. RIP your helmet. Ouch.
I thought exactly the same with the Scooters!😆 Thanks Glyn
love the video's. thought the old intro music set the mood.. not so keen on the new one. keep up the great work through
Great video, made me kind of homesick
A great day out, and your video caught the quintessential seaside Englishness of Brighton - even though it felt like California 😁
Another great vid, enjoying the channel content so far! 👍
10:00 the building on the left belongs to Pink Floyd's guitarist David Gilmour ...
No way!!! LOVE that!🙂
Love your videos! I'm in SA, but you make me feel like coming home... Especially after all this violence of late.
Thanks very much Ray! I've been following what's going on in SA- I hope you're not getting too badly effected!
Planning a trip to Spain! Any videos or recommendations for driving motorcycle there? Cities to visit, roads to take, etc?
Racer Gloves Ronin. Tabernas Desert is mind blowing!! If you go on my website (freddiedobbs.com), I tell my favourite riding roads in souther Spain🙂
Very familiar ground for me, lived in Hove for seven years.
Grande n.1💪un saluto dall'Italia
Grazie mille Maurizio!🙌🙌
Went to Basil's and Knole in Sevenoaks after watching your video. Looking forward to a coffee by the ford in Eynsford and now a pizza in Brighton. Slow down Freddie, I cant keep up. 😉
That's fantastic, I'm so glad you're finding the videos useful!🙂
Cracking day out. 👍
Lol no way you stopped in time at that red light!
Great vlog as always Freddie apart from ur helmet accident 😮 love Brighton it’s our favourite place by the sea👍
Thanks Andy, it’s such a brilliant day trip spot!👌🏻🙂. Most of my helmets are completely scratched up in some way now!😆
Love bike ride to Brighton but you need security down there . My tip is a avoid m23 boring mway, go down A22 lovely road then b2028 through Ditchling and over the amazing Ditchling beacon great views from there into Lewis than along front to Brighton
Ahhhhh great shout- I've just saved this route, thank you Paul!🙂
nice Quadrophenia beach. Ridding down with a Triumph you must be a rocker. HAHAHA :)))))
🤣🤣
lovely day out and damn that pizza sounds grand
Love watching your videos, they genuinely cheer me up . Just took a ride to the Peak District today but it was far too hot 🔥🥵 and so so busy but always good to get out on the bike 😎 . Looking forward to the next video 😉👍
Thanks Mick, interesting that it was packed- I always wonder how it’d be up there on the weekends!🙂🙌🏻
Another great video Freddie 👍👍
Can you please include a link for the gloves, thank you.
Another nice vid !
I must admit if I had replaced every lid I had dropped over 42 years of riding(10 as a despatch rider) my lid count would be in the unaffordable 1000's !!
Thanks Stuart, I can imagine!😆
I'm exactly the same- I would now own zero helmets if I binned each one after a drop!
Bro go for Scotland trip
Will be epic 👌
I've been meaning to for so long- I need to just do it!🙌
I can’t get away from JB’s diner when down, other than my namesake, I love a good malted shake.
Is JBs still open? I haven't been down to Brighton for a while (since Pre-C****D)....i was sure someone said JB's had shut, I hope not...have been there a few times...always great food
@@tweetchris46 a shame if it has 😞
@@78Outlaw I'm going to pop down on the bike after work tonight, I'll have a look
@@78Outlaw it’s still open 👍
Nice day out guys. Have to say Weymouth is cool too, nice vibe, beautiful garden and if you are lucky some topless girls😁
Added to my list (purely because of the garden!😆). Thanks Mark
@@FreddieDobbs I meant Bournemouth, doh!
mind that red light;;; monika likes her cuisine;; good different video to the norm ,, thanks , keep it up ,,
Nice to see all those charging points being used at the shell garage. Hahahahah, Brighton twinned with Calafornia in your mind!! Hahahahaha.
I know- I'm amazed they're not being used! The Venice Beach of the UK (in my eyes at least!😆)
“Everyone is super health conscious”……Except Freddie & Monika gorging a pizza!
Great upload Freddie! you cocking up and Monika giggling always makes my Sunday 😉🤣 need a new helmet now bro, could be damaged where you can’t see it and you need to protect that noggin of yours so we can all continue to follow your riding adventures 👊 Ride safe, Steve 👍🏻😎
Thank you Steve!🙂
Another great video Fred, will you keep the Bonnie or change it if something interesting comes along ?
Thanks Colin! Good question, I love it too much to consider switching for now. I’ve had it over two years and love it even more, although never say never!😆
Man, that pizza looked fantastic and the restaurant too, it had a warm, home-like feel.
What a lovely place to spend a day. You're a great tourist promoter for the UK, somehow you had a streak of sunny days too.
Gear wise, I see those TCX boots are probably your most frequent pick. I am holding on to my Stylmartin Rockets. In 5 years of daily use (off the bike too) they are really holding up well, but I am starting to look for a replacement, possibly resoleable, if they suddenly fall apart.
They are all but waterproof, velcro has worn out, a zip tab broke. I would pick those X-blend if they completely give up. Would you suggest doing so?
Thanks very much- it's a great day trip spot!🙂
I'd 100% recommend the TCX boots- you've picked up that they're some of my absolute favourites and the ones I wear more than any other. Superb value, the comfiest boots I've tried, well protected and incredibly tough!
I really wanted to know what were Monikas gloves....
Two rites of motorcycle passage Fredster……a bike and a helmet drop. Both very high up on the sickening feeling scale 😞 😡. Brighton looked glorious 😎
So true!!🤣🤣
Funny video.
Ciao 👋 dall' Italia.
Love your vids btw.
Thanks guys Monica is beautiful, you are a lucky man.
