Congratulations on such a successful maiden flight day my friend!... You need to bring that bird down to Douglas so we could have 3 blue angels flying formation... You should also bring your F22 Raptor to do the same with them...😁 Thumbs-up for your video 😁 Have a great day 😀 Greetings from Douglas, Arizona 😀 🌵 🦠 😷 🇵🇷 Like#6
Thanks brother!! It’ll have to be a Sunday or holiday Monday for the next 8 weeks basketball is in full swing lol. I do miss flying with you guys, always a great time.
Niiice Maiden!! !! Flight modes helped you out I see, I have always had them pitch down on the Flaps, Just check out the crashes on my page LOL. Overall good flying and filming, looking forward to getting one!
F-18's and F-16's are bad about tipping over in a crosswind. Sometimes you can use the ailerons to prevent it. On my EDF's with flaps, I put the transmitter's flight modes on the flap switch and enable F-mode trims for aileron and elevator. I set the flap>elevator mix with the throttle at idle so that they glide a little faster than the stall speed. I don't set the mix so that they fly level at any particular throttle setting. If I add power on final, my planes will decrease their descent rate without having to pull back on the elevator. Also, I use the elevator to control the pitch attitude on final, not the plane's speed. And, I use the throttle to control the descent rate and/or where the plane will touch down. Most of my planes have AR636's that I've reprogrammed with AS3X and SAFE. Others have the newer Smart AS3X/SAFE receivers. Bank-limiting and self-level comes in handy sometimes on low-visibility military paint schemes.
Thanks Txkflier! The flight modes is definitely a big help! I try not make them level with flaps maybe with a little bit of up so when I’m coming in I can control decent with the throttle like you said!
@@ljhobbylifeSome people seem to think that the flap>elevator mix is to prevent ballooning when you lower the flaps at higher speeds. It's better to use the mix for a stable descent/approach during landings. In full-scale aircraft, you don't lower the flaps until you're below a certain airspeed, and then you trim the elevator for the proper approach speed.
I bought the Eflite version about 3 years ago. It’s just one of those jets that look good on display. Got an entire week doing an install at FT Eisenhower in Augusta next week. (We’ll have every inch of the 11 mile long, 6 miles wide base covered audibly for lightning and tornado warning when done. Stewart and Benning next.
They are definitely beautiful models for sure! Dang that’s crazy the whole week, been there a few times under a different base name, I still don’t get used to the base name changes. That is an awesome system so it’ll be able to detect from a greater distance inclement weather coming in?
@@ljhobbylife yes, we can push out the beam that’s looking for the 2 precursors of lightning (static electricity on the increase and positive/negative energy imbalance 20 miles or over an hour heads up time if the system seems to be making a beeline towards the base and it’s intensifying. (A lot can happen in an hour or 20 miles- change direction or the storm could fall apart. If so, the system will blow the All Clear. But when you’re dealing with lightning and people’s lives, I’m going with - “Rather be Safe than Sorry.” System is updating every millisecond, so it’s accurate as hell on intensity, direction and speed. Love working on military bases. Everything is so structured. Great to see you flying again. Always good stuff, always cool planes. Hope you and the family are doing great.
@@jeffhenderson3318 That is awesome definitely need one of those systems around here, the weather in this place is nuts! It’s good to be out flying hopefully get some more flight tomorrow!
@@ljhobbylife I’ll get my contact’s (ex-marine, now DoD) info to you. It would be cool to come out, spec out the base and shake your hand. (And talk about what a blast it was growing up in central Florida)
Nice maiden LJ ! What I have noticed with f-18s .. is that they are not forgiving with Cg .. once you get Cg spot on , it is an awesome flyer .. another thing is they don’t like to fly with landing flaps down , it starts to get rocky but when your on final and you drop the landing flaps she comes in nice .. flying mid flaps it’s ok but landing flaps it gets shaking .. that’s from my experiences with f-18s ..
Thanks Andy!! After about two more flights after this I figured it out and boy is she a fun model to fly! Like you said CG is super important but once your GTG she’s flies amazing and comes in nice for landings!!
😆 it was a day I had to drop off Mae for basketball so went right before! I was gonna go Saturday but basketball is in full effect hopefully trying to go tomorrow early do some more test and tuning on MLK day!
@@Hype_RC I haven’t done that update on any of my receivers, been wanting to to try it, prolly do this one first. Yeah I still fly it flew it a few weeks ago, I love how it looks in the air!!
@ awesome 👏🏽 man I hope they release these 90s again soon with removable wings! I’ve read good things about this with the new setup. I can attest to some of my planes already like eflite 80f16 and new f1690 fly amazing with rear cg, high pitch and mild yaw and roll. And the flaps on gyro amazing landings! And post stall movements are like some kind of fly by wire with priority 100/100/100 . Hope you get to try it soon. I’ve enjoyed your reviews

Did you bypass the blue box?
No I never do, it’s always worked fine for me.
