    This is intended to be a better updated video showing a NEW pilot what to do with this new planes he or she has and how to get it going with a NEW Spektrum RX system. From making a throttle cut to performing forward programing!

    I think Spektrum owes you a ton of money for explaining these concepts in simple terms much better than Specktrum's in house produced videos, thanks. I'm moving more into balsa planes and this is an excellent video on setting up a plane properly. Thanks.

      Thanks so much and the principles are the same in balsa planes with these receivers.

    I agree with the previous post, much better explained than the Spektrum videos. Even though I knew all this, learnt from hours of playing around with the NX8. It was still great to watch and see someone show new comers how to set it up from start to finish. I had never heard of forward programming. Had not a clue what it did and how to apply it to a model. If I could have seen this vid it would have save me from brain fade lots of times. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Thank you for the detailed info on forward programming. I have a Spektrum DX8-G2. It works well.
    One way of showing the differences in DUAL RATE & EXPO is to put in full throw and switch in and out of DR/EXPO.
    Ignoring AS3X; I have used the Flex Innovations Aura 5 Lite because it has a mode between SAFE and UNLIMITED. Intermediate mode has control limits, but NO auto-level. This aids in the transition to unlimited controls.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 месяца назад

      Yes , with Spektrum when SAFE was first released they offered intermediate mode which is the same as Flex 's middle mode.

    Thank you for a very informative video. You teach as if you want us to learn instead of some of the fast talking smarties that are only trying to impress you on how much they know instead of trying to teach us beginners. Then when you try to contact them, well I'm amazed that how many companies have an employee named CHAT...who will never be an employee of the month. Thanks again and I'm ready to go apply what you have explained VERY WELL. Love to watch your videos.......HAPPY FLYING!

    Thanks for putting this video out! It’s a nice refresher for rates and expo settings. You’ve made me understand the concept of expo settings. I’m still stuck in the dark ages with my DX8 Gen 2 transmitter. I see how more versatile the NX10 really is. Perhaps one day I will make the transition out if the dark age. Anyway, thanks for another “how to” video!

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 месяцев назад

      Glad it was helpful! And may I suggest you stick to the NX series and not the IX series . The IX series uses a touch screen and has a much different interface. It is ok but I sent my IX 14 back hated it . I just think we as hobbyist and all the different aspects with the tech going into these transmitter and planes now are sucking to fun out of it and getting the planes so advanced that they wont need any real skilled discipline to fly them. I try my best to keep it simple as I can but still be as current as possible too. Hard wire to walk.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 месяцев назад

      No need just fly in SAFE and release the stcks and that is the same. Now you program the three levels and pick a panis button but I have not done that yet so I cannot advise.

    One of the best, if not the best, tutorial on the covered subjects.
    I think I would have mentioned/added how the third position on the modes and rate switches might be used - e.g. Mode position 3 = no SAFE and no AS3X; 3 position Rate switch = Low, Medium and High.

    Kudos kudos kudoos.
    I do have one perhaps silly question. When I change my receiver over to the 630 or thhe 631 on an fms plane with reflex, do I take out both the reflex and the receiver or do I leave reflex in. My thoughts are to take out both and just go with the Spek 630 or 631
    Thank you so very much for giving me a clear and concise explanation to now enjoy my hobby ro its ma.

    Hi there, Great Guy, you have the best channel:-), and I like your style!
    Your instructions are easy to follow, and I use your videos as tutorials step-by-step when programming.
    I have a problem, that perhaps you can solve/explain to me:
    I have a NX10 radio and an unused AR8360T receiver that I bought about 2 years ago. I am now planning to use this in an AeroScout 1.1 Trainer (in which stock RX is the AR631 that is factory pre-programmed with AS3X and Safe), and I have used the new unit to include the Flaperons function (which needs one xtra channel).
    I changed the Y Aileron harness with two single leads, one to pos 2 = RAR and the other pos 6 -=LAR (AX1). Pos 4 is RUD as usual, and pos 5 is now GY1 (gear). Pos 7 = AX2, but I dont know what I control there. When I operate the Flight Modes, AX2 shifts from -100 to zero to 100.
    Now, it should be possible to fly the model, because all rudders go in the right direction, but I am unable to execute the Forward Programming function.
    The Other Programming function: I try to execute 'Factory Reset', but it will not execute the command.
    Somehow, the system is out of whack. It is possible that I have chosen wrong locations (pins) for the functions AS3X and SAFE, and that is why the RX wont budge.
    Best regards,
    Rolv (Norway)

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 месяца назад

      Go back and plug 1 aileron into the flap pos or channel 6 and the other one in the aileron pos and set the wing type to flaperon. Then it should work. Also the receiver must be jAILbroken to have the factory reset option available I will be doing a video on how VERY soon.

    I was trying to set up as3x step by step using your previous video. Switch B for flight mode seems ineffective, staying on FM2 no matter where the switch was. I did stumble across the as3x gains being controlled by the Rknob. I suspect there is some way to capture gains, but the switch not changing the flight mode is aggravating. There seems to be automatic call outs when I moved switch B calling out FM 1, FM2 etc. but the screen stays on FM2 the entire time. IDK. When I figure it out I'll post the solution in case someone else is having the same issue. Thanks for updating the forward programming procedure.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 месяца назад

      Go back and reset the model and only setup a basic model profile DO NOT pick a flight mode. wait until your into forward programing to do so. The first time FP asks you about it then set it up on 3 pos switch.

      @@FatGuyFliesRC turned out channel 7 was inhibited somehow. Don't know how that happened. But that's where the AS3X was. Weird. Anyway once we made it active everything started working fine. Plane really flies better now. And it flew pretty good before.

    Can you use rates and expo when you are flying with safe on

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 месяцев назад

      With Spektrums forwarded programing ,unless you change the values at that point the preset values will over ride you. But is not something that I mess with and only worry with rates and expo while in no gyro mode or as3x mode.

    Do you first do a maiden flight and then setup SAFE/AS3X or can you install it right of the bat before the maiden flight?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  10 месяцев назад

      Fist before I ever go to the field. You know how I said I use a three position switch and how I have a 3rd FM. Well I use that FM to turn the gyro completely off to see just how trim the plane actually is in flight. Not something I want a new pilot to do but great when your setting a more advanced plane up.
