What game should I cover next?

I think I tried Redstone a long time ago when I was young. You said it’s like Diablo 2 correct?
Could you tell me the name of the website at 8:33 thanks
@@plu2448 Thats the maple website, go to updates.
God there are so many games you could cover xD I woudnt be opposed to a part two of this video. Talk more about what players have done to fix this themselves by moving to private servers, GMS players trying KMS etc. Ik u arent a MS channel but i think MS is possibly worth coming back to in the future just because so many people have so much to say about the game and its state.
Caitlin H haha I still get quite a bit of comments on this video (one of my higher views vids in a while).
Biggest thing is I just need support by having people comment, like and ultimately watch.
Like I just posted a new video but it has significantly less views than this video haha.
I have an idea of my next Dead or Alive video though ;)
God damn this game will always hold a special place in my heart

RyanDot that’s a fact
Like it has always be
Played this game back in 06 when I was 11-12, fast forward 13 years, I'm 25 years old now and this game will always hold a special place in my heart. Most OG players are now adults with responsibilities, bills, lives etc. so I don't think any update will lure old players such as myself back into it due to we no longer have the freedoms of coming home from school and doing nothing except play maple for hours. Although, I can't help find myself watching videos or listening to the nostalgic music to remind me of how easy life once was.
That’s some hardcore nostalgia there. As an adult myself I think I would try to squeeze in a good amount of time
Oh my god. It's exactly the same for me. It's weird to see that so much people did experience MapleStory (almost) the same. I also listen to the good ol' soundtracks often or watch videos like these. Brings back the good memories!
Kuroyvo ever been driving and your like...you know what would be cool to listen to? Aqua Road. *cranks volume to 11+*
@@VagrantVideos Heck yes! I also often listen to the MapleStory Mashup from DJ Searcher or MapleStory (Login Theme) from JVNA. The nostalgia hits hard with those.
I also experienced maplestory around the same age, I remember playing it after school of 06 and I was 11 at the time, I'm 24 going on 25 now and I still have find memories of it. Sometimes I find myself humming the soundtrack
I will always remember that time when I was stuck at sleepy wood and wouldn't be able to find a way out since I was 9 at the time
Sleepy wood sucked to get stuck at
@@VagrantVideos yeah especially get killed from those 1 eyed lizards and zombie mushrooms :c

_ Kienoss _ I swear to god it did 😂💯💯
My eyes got watery
Yesss every time i hear that music i remember them long days of pq grinding(Kpq, Lpq,opq)
Hit hard for sure. This music brings me back
It's definitly not dead but it quickly became a single player game over the years. At it's core, it's still super fun and i've played on and off since BB. But there are so many elements that could be added/changed to make the player base happy that seems to be ingored. Party quests like CPQ were so much fun to do and never got boring. they were some of the best exp in the game and pushed players together to comunicate and work together PLUS be rewarded for it. Nothing like that exists anymore. MSC needs to happen. Maplestory Classic.
I think everyone can agree a Maple Classic would be so good
Ya partying was the best. Only thing was leveling took forever!
Classic doesn't need to happen they can easily make changes to the current game to give it the classic feeling.. and that was playing with other people that's the only thing that was good about classic. Big Bang was still great it just went downhill post unleashed when that playing with others aspect died. Which made so many of my friends quit playing in my guild, alliance and world.. post big bang was probably the most popular the game was from what i saw until that unleashed update happened . On from that through further negatives post unleashed that just made the population smaller and smaller. Even with world merge it still feels lonely .. as it's still single player focused.
No, that's the nostalgia talking. Classic MS would kill you after a week. I've played a private server called OSM. It existed for 5 months. The rank 1 player was level 103 after 5 months of nonstop grinding. The best thing? there's no end game content. You level up just for the sake of leveling up and getting gear. No end game bosses, no end game party quests. Nothing.
Cib i wasnt sure i liked u after seeing you in cowchop videos but this comment decided it🤍
As cheesy as it sounds, the real maplestory was the friends we made along the way. No patch or even a classic server will rekindle those relationships we once had. It was an mmo that had a huge playerbase of younger kids since it was f2p and everything else wasnt. Everyone just wanted to be friends, rather than just grind.
I’d have to agree there, although the game was really fun too
Honestly... This is how I feel nowadays, old maple was magic not because the game/mechanics etc (although I had a lot of fun witj the game and I loved it a lot, even the grinding part was fun to me, and the party quests? Man I loved those)
But what made me happier was the people. I remember entering the game just to go meet my friends at the free market and talk there for hours, doing nothing, moving around Henesys, doing silly things, getting stuck on the ludi Party quest because we didnt want to end it because we were talking about how was our weekend going... I really miss all those people, nowadays I have lost contact with all of them and I now for sure that It wouldnt be the same, but I would be happy if we just got the maple we have now, but more party quest engaging, instead of solo-grinding/doing bosses :/
DatrykSenkrad yeah dude logging in to see your friends was such a cool experience that is really hard to find today due to the way the modern gamer consumes games, gaining more satisfaction from hitting goals than enjoying getting there.
I actually have found that MS2 does a good job at connecting you with the “old school” style players that like talking, via the events that bring players together for just 5 minutes, but those 5 minutes of banter have started nearly all of my friendships that I’ve made in MS2.
I think it's false, anyway. The game was just a lot better
i wish i could have a nice social gaming experiënce like that to but unfortunately most gamers these days are realy toxic do to the AAA game boom of 2000 and gamers only care about reatching their personal goals rather than have fun together. Everything is centered around getting some shiny new bauble or something these days, even games like guild wars2 are making jokes about how their game is mostly just fashion wars these days but nobody cares for the actual game anymore.
I personally feel people only miss old maplestory because of the community and not because of the gameplay. Because holy shit it was insanely rough
Ehhhh. It wasn’t that bad if You knew where to train you could get to 70 in a week
@@VagrantVideos i agree i think the hard part was being really young, it gets harder on higher levels but hey its a grind game you knew that from beginning. but getting 4th job isnt that hard in a v83 server. in earlier version loads of classes have a rough part at 64 to 74 and after that they level up fairly quick again when new grinding spots open up.
it was rough 4real. what made it fun was pqing not grinding. You made a load of friends in pqs (kpq and ludipq were the shit)
@@Enzo008 honestly the game wouldnt survive if we just brought back classic, what we need were the charms of classic. PQs, basically promoting party play, while making solo play viable. Guilds need to be more community centred, an actual GLOBAL chat. I really couldn't imagine how boring it would be to level up like we did back then, no flash jumps, snail paced gameplay etc however modernised gameplay with the community aspect of classic would feel amazing. I comeback once in a while, what repeatedly makes me leave is how much effort i needed to make to get to anything resembling a community
@@xaviersgiantego1453 yep thats the toughest. When you finally get back in tune with people. get into a guild, but when u comeback no one is there... what made me leave is the leveling was too easy, needs to be harder
You will quit and come back every once a while XD
But but I haven’t lol. Unless you count private servers
godamn it's seasonal with me
I actually just came back for Hoyoung lol. Gonna try and level him up to 150 (or 200 if I feel like grinding even more) and then quit again. XD
Yen Tsao true
I’m a reboot player and play 3 days a year the past 3-4 years
I get on normally during winter during burning and level a character to 180 not knowing how to get farther cause the power wall and no damage
I did something different when I akmost quit last week, I made a kanna
In a week I got my kanna to 148 with 90% meso obtain plus a duel blade to 5th job (was always a dream to get into the beautiful arcane river
Can’t believe it took sooo long to find the answer : Your first character bust be a Kanna!
lol I’m going back today fk it aha
Big bang update literally ruined the community side where people rather solo to level up instead of doing party quest and earn rewards
Definitely agree, dimension mirror also took out exploratiob
This is so true.
Agreed. Party was the best thing in MapleStory. Now everyone solo and became shady
@@xyoobtsab1 Reboot servers offers some party play due to the mechanics yet how longer you play and more chars you have. How more soloable you can get. :(
Man PQ's were so much fun back in the day.
This game made me truly happy.
Same here dude
Me too
I had no friends in elementary school. I met so many people from Maplestory that were great friends. I wonder how my old friends are doing..
@@WavyMac im sure they're all great. there are a few good ps with the old maple players. i recently tried maplelegends, met a lot of old maplers there, all very friendly.
HOLY SHIT saame.
This game was my childhood. I remember being all day at school planning with my friends what we were gonna do as soon as we got home. We took pictures of everyone and then started editing our characters to what we wanted to have. Dreaming of killing zakum and hunting those dang honry mushrooms. I remember all those colored WG that we always wanted and the events they gave maple tokens to spend in the Cash shop. Ahh those were the days.. i loved maplestory and i hope my kid gets to experience it too. #bringmapleback
#Weneedclassic
I remember back in 2008 when I was in the 3rd grade, my friend's older brother was babysitting us during the summer and showed us this cool looking game with mages, warriors, archers, thiefs etc... I remember him showing us his level 87 Dragon Knight at the time and he had us create a character each on Windia, after spending the day leveling up he would bring us to really high leveled places including helping us get down to the Gate Keepers. I remember just being hooked on the game, whenever I came from school or football practice I would hop on the game, party up for the Kerning City PQ then the Ludi PQ when we were high enough levels. The game was tough to grind on, but that was the fun, you were pretty much forced to team up with others and grind if you wanted to level up fast. Through those PQs I remember making a lot of friends or just sitting on the Boats and hiding from the Balrog's while the higher level people took care of them. Me and the other low levels talking to one another, acting like we were friends before parting ways to get to our different training areas. Then when training was too hard and or too boring, I just remember hanging out in Henesys Potion Shop or in that one house everyone was in. I remember when the Cygnus Knight's came out and the Ultimate Adventurer's. I remember my first true main was on my blaze wizard named RedMistLuke and yeah it was far before the movie Kick-Ass came out. I even remember having my first official maple GF, BerryShasta.
As far as the Big Bang update goes, I can honestly say that was the biggest blow and fuck you to the loyal player base during that time. The grind wasn't the same, the PQs no longer needed. The stuff that made Maplestory fun...was gone. Being level 100+ no longer meant you were a god to everyone. You could get to level 30 within a few hours of grinding and level 70 in a week without trying. The grind was diminished and I can admit at first I was super happy because now I could hit level 70 no problem and enjoy the 3rd job advancement...but what I felt for that one moment of happiness and success....just wasn't what it was supposed to be. I felt cheated, like I had just taken the easy way to my goal. Aside from that, the social interactions died due to the PQs being no longer needed, then the boats died out as there were ways to easily teleport to your location. The game shifted from joining up with strangers and have a good time while leveling up to have fun by yourself until you decide to join a guild and do daily pqs for the sole purpose of hoping to get a good drop. Like, it just slowly killed my drive for the game until one day I logged onto my computer, looked at Maplestory and just brushed it off. I didn't want to wait the minute or two it took to boot up the game, I'd rather do something else and man, I just knew at that point it was over for me. The game I once loved was dead to me now and after keeping the game for a while, I finally after about a year or two just uninstalled it and gave it a proper burial in the trash bin.
But even with the bad, there was just as many good memories made from "Just a Game." I will never stop remembering the Maplestory of old, the Maplestory that gave me thousands of hours of nonstop fun, the game that gave me more friends than I could handle, the game that was a major part of my childhood and made it a lot better during that very shitty time.
Thank you Maplestory for everything.
-A Player That Will Never Forget
I feel the exact same, not sure if you saw some of my replies to the dumb amount of comments on this video lol. My best memories of Maple was when I met my ex on it and a lot of close friends. I met that girl in RL and it was one of the best relationships of my life. All because of some little game on the internet.
Nowadays that would never happen on Maple. I hope there is a game out there that can recapture that same feeling.
Dude.. if your were in third grade 2008... means your still a kid
@@UnDeAdSpRaYe 22 years old, Ok Boomer
man, I was in college playing MS somewhat then. And you were a third grader. I am getting old
we can only hope to manifest Nexon releasing a classic server.
We must pray to the gaming gods
@@VagrantVideos It has to happen! 07Runescape, WOW Classic, Archeage: Unchained (Kinda fits)
Classic maplestory? Sure! By Nexon? Naaaah
Bow Ski lol dang, shot down
Classic maplestory would just not work, the original game was full of many, many issues that if they ever fixed them it would not be the game people remember.
What I really miss about the old maplestory is how you had to actually spend a lot of time to travel and explore, just going to Orbis could take 10-20 minutes and you HAD to take the ship. Now you can just teleport to wherever you like.
It felt like a cohesive world like that but now it’s all just teleports
@@VagrantVideos the game even makes fun of that in one of the special dungeons.
You can teleport but you don´t have to. The game gives the option to those who want to use it, but you´re not forced to you can still travel the old way. Seems like you chose to do the easier way, so it seems you actually prefer it that way then, so why complain?
@@xanderbrink5167 travelling doesnt nearly take as much time as it use to, the ship is ALWAYS ready to leave, you never wait for it. Also, since most people teleport, you don't meet anyone on the ship anymore. Back then yoy would take the ship, wait about 5 minutes for it to be ready to leave, then 15 minutes to get to where you want to be, and you were there wkth other people who you would talk to, you would make hunting friends, you would fight baleogs together when they attacked the ship. The spirit has simply been lost
@@fredcarmichael5544 this! I always made friends while traveling, everyone was just bored and happy to talk to others and do silly things together, like waiting for balrogs to attack and then try to sneak out withouth being killed... haha
Man I remember when having a 50 was a solid level to have. I love that I was a part of that world, and all the friends I made, and adventures I had. It was a wild ride, and I'd never give up those countless hours playing it for anything. What a wonderful world.
If only it was still that way
Waiting for ships, Traveling, Surviving
oh god i almost cried listening to the song.... being like 13 years of my life
It invokes so much emotion
Slight old player. I remember downloading maplestory a long time ago on my old Gateway computer. The music, the friggin dice roll to get stats. I played alone when I was younger. I made so many friends along the way, so many fond memories(pre-big bang), getting killed by Barlogs on the way to Orbis, celebrating the Christmas event in El Nath, Meeting Fangblade(yes, I chatted with him when I was online. He gave me an item I don't remember what it was, but it was for a low lvl noob like me) and finally joining a guild and playing card games with other players.nothing will beat those good Ole days back in 2005-2009 for me. It just hurts to remember all the friends I made are gone, but I'm happy they're living their lives. 😊
I wish I still talked to the friends I made...I wonder about them sometimes still
I played this game in korea around same time as yours. your story sounds just like mine. Sometimes I wonder what my friends are doing, who I met in maplestory
@@paulkim339 same....i wonder how they all are doing these many, many years later.
Mann I remember having to roll for good stats lol. THOSE were the days. If you're stats werent just right you were screwed.
Also you had to manually put your stats in each time you lvled. I think, been a decade. 😂
Not dead
But nexon need to listen to the oldest fans
They really do
Okay maple boomer
It's quite dead. The community is. Maplestory won't ever go back to how it was with its booming community.
Beesknees I think they need to do a drastic overhaul and decide what to do
to go all-in on grinding and hard gameplay or go all-in in equipment development and more dmg
@@yuvalkrispin I agree with you but still there is no denying the fact that the community just isnt what it is today. Even if such drastic changes were made to better the game, people won't come back to it. Didn't you see how quick MS2 died? Pretty quick.
Dead for older players. I was a child when I played the game. The game I played then is what I was in love with. I remember playing for 3 days straight, no sleep, limited bathroom breaks, limited food. I worked hard on my assassin. I had cleric, and a fighter. I got hacked which was a heavy blow and then all those lame updates and new, more powerful copycat classes turned me away for good. Part of what made that game good was that sense of accomplishment. Spamming in free market for hours to buy, trade, sell and find deals. Grinding long hours and finding all the best quests. I stopped playing right around the time to get 3rd job. I was just starting to experience El nath. That period where lpq was getting boring after spamming it for 15-20 levels and you start getting eager for 3rd job advance. I had my BSS, my PAC, 10att work gloves, dark ID, and was working on my 60s armor set, and a full set of steely. Living my best life on my assassin. IGN Sukuyme. RIP 😭 I had a friend named CancerPlague. He was going for DK and we used to train together. Having friends was important. You would actually slow yourself down trying to solo play. Mana and hp potions get expensive. The classic DK and priest combo was born out of necessity. MapleStory is one of goat, for real.
all of this story is super relatable. Private servers get really close to the old experience
I remember friends farming and selling items for real world money making enough off of just maple story to pay their bills it was insane!
Wow really? I do remember tons of things going for a good chunk of change back in the day like Work Gloves.
I remember getting scammed while trading the game cards for in game items
Vagrant 12 att WG!!
i wish i could make money playing games but the european goverments are opossed to such practises, they believe you need to work for your money, basically be a payslave/labor horse for life, it sucks.
I remembered camping Mushmom while doing homework. ohh boy memories
The memories indeed
The game doesn't give me the same feeling as it used to in the past. I remember coming back from school waiting for my friends to come online to do the Moon Bunny pq and having tons of fun, now it just feels like a singleplayer game to me.
Exactly which sucks :(
honestly i think we all just grew up, so the experience is different.
Honestly, a lot of games now are pretty heavy on solo play and it's really sad.
I don't have much nostalgic connection to this game. My sister is a few years older than me, and she played maplestory all the time. Occasionally I would fill in for her training, and I did attempt to make my own characters, as little brothers would do.
I never really got anywhere, though. I was an elementary school kid, and I didn't explore the social aspects of the game. I played *the game.* And man, was it frustrating to as little kid like me. Everything was way too difficult for my small ass brain, and I ended up stopping after a few months.
So with this information that I didn't particularly enjoy the "golden days" of maple, we come to 2014. Freshman in high school, one of my old friends convinces me to play maplestory, long, long after its release.
Man, it became the rpg i spent my time on for a long time. I understood the game, I accomplished things, I enjoyed it. I was in a guild with a bunch of people that I talked to often in between training and bossing, until I eventually joined some other fellows on the reboot server.
I enjoyed it so much, that once I started seeing a bunch of comments about how maple is dead and whatever, it really bothered me. I never had that experience, but what I did have is a currently good experience. I can't be too sure, but I at least believed then that maple changed for the better. It's never going to attract the same people again, but I believe it is a better GAME, not necessarily a precursor to social media.
It's been some on and off since then. Mostly on, but not as often. I'm still enjoying it, I'm still invested into this. I honestly believe that the game gets better, even if all I get from people is "that game still exists?"
Ouch that’s gotta be one of the worst comments to get when you just want to talk about your favorite game. I always hate getting that “oh that game is still around?”
Like ya you jerk. Lol
I still go back to maple every once in a while. I have fun for a couple of days or weeks, and then drop the game for another 3 or 4 months. It's an infinite loop
I play it for like a week then I’m done lol
I started playing MapleStory in 7th/8th grade. It was a new adventure at the time and everything was so fresh. The amount of time I spent on the game is unbelievable. The amount of money I spent is astounding. I have about $2000 worth of Nexon Prepaid cards in a box somewhere (mind you, I was in a teenager at the time). Heck, I even developed a long-distance relationship over this game (of which, I met that person in real life). This game is special.
Holy shit literally my story. I spent thousands and had a gf from Maplestory
My exact same story aswell xD
u two got married or what xD

This video was extremely well done. Great job!
Maple was really special to me as a kid, but man it's a completely different game nowadays. I feel like I echo the sentiment of a lot of people in the comments that the fact that it was so grindy led to growing way more in-game communication and friendships. Especially during that time, there wasn't really much else like it that was extremely accessible and easy to get into.
Even if a Maplestory Classic server popped up, I really wonder if it would even have the same effect or success. Old school Maple seems like a product of a bygone era.
Considering there is around 10k people playing private servers shows me that I think lots would play!
Thank you for the video, Maple Story is actually the first online game I played on a regular basis when I was in Highschool (2005 to 2009) When I tried to play it back in 2012 I really felt the game was dead. IWhat I really like about the game was when you would find other players in maps, chat and socialize. It really felt like it was a dead game when I tried after BB. I was always alone even in Channel 1. The game was still fun, but the social part is what made it magical to me. I did not regret playing this game and I am still grateful to the person who showed me this game
So many good memories with this game, I keep searching for something that will make me feel similar to how this did
I was a GMS beta tester and getting you character to lvl50 for the cape was a big deal, everything was pretty much solo mob grinding and not 1 spell hits the entire map. I did move onto release to play a Bandit (Fiestypunk on Scania) and got that well into the 90's before 3rd job was released but then the gameplay for me declined rapidly and certain classes outshined others. I will never forget the friends i made and the memories i created and ofcouse that 1st Jr Balrog kill. Thank you for bringing back fond memories
No problem man!
Being an old maplestory vet since 2006 I have been with maplestory from the bottom to the top and back down to the bottom. After Big Bang I continued to play until around 5th job release when everything was SO pay to win that I couldn’t advance any further with my level 224 Zero. I took a hibernation of about a year from maplestory only to come back and try reboot world after hearing some friends talk.
Reboot took my by storm as I could obtain some of the things that would cost players THOUSANDS of real world dollars just by working hard and grinding making small incremental gains consistently and constantly being able to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the goals that I aspire to reach through the rather nostalgic feeling of good ole fashion grinding.
Collin Maschino yes exactly! Glad to see you enjoyed the come back to Reboot
I actually like the way its changing... they added storyline making the person target not only leveling but enjoying the story
Personally I never liked the story because its serious then silly then borderline stupid. UI is all over the place in terms of quality as well, some cutscenes are freaking amazing, others are incredibly pixelated and old looking...
The Black Mage trailer was so awesome nothing has topped that.
My brother introduced me to PC gaming with this game way back then.
Jaytrix I bet man lol. Thanks bud
Same. This was the first online game i played.
a game that holds unforgettable memories, the music really hits me hard. I rmb rushing back from school just to meet up with my friends in maplestory to do quests together. But now, we hardly talk to each other ever since maple changed and everyone quits, i hope everyone is doing alright.

I hope one day I get a nice community started here similar to LazyPeon, KiraTv and Johnstrifehayes.
This is definitely still by far one of my favorite projects I ever worked on.
I still remember that my brother dropped a chaos scroll the other player said man you are crazy. we were too young to really understand the game didn't even had mesos for potions but it was a golden time of my life and maplestory will never be forgotten
Dude!!!! How could he drop that????
Vagrant strange situation when you see other players grinding for months at Jr necki for those scrolls. my brother hit 1 monster and the chaos scroll dropped out he thought it was worth nothing. so he dropped it 😂
Dude....not even fair....
I’m a Hong Kong player, and I used to play TMS. After going to Australia for study, I started to play GMS, and it’s the only entertainment to alleviate my homesick and loneliness at home.
I would say I’m a die hard fan, from Hong Kong to Australia, I can’t stop playing MapleStory haha
It’s good for relaxation for sure!

i remember the PQs at kerning city... fighting that slime boss together with everyone. the ludibirium PQ, the orbis PQ where you could smuggle the statue pieces and earn even more XP (XD), avoiding balrogs when going from ellinia to orbis (but sometimes you would go out the ship to peek and get killed)... man those were the days. so many friends on the net lost to time...
You about to make everyone in this comment section cry sir.
I remember playing around the time it came out in the states I was in the 6th grade I think. While I've met ton of people on here and have had fun times with the game, used to play way too much up until the potential update then gradually quit a few years ago. I think the potential system is one of the biggest issues with the game and more controversial than Big Bang as its impact vastly affected power creep, mob/boss hp and damage balancing, had a much bigger impact than wep. attack stats on gear, and made the game a dps chase to the damage cap the fastest. It's one of the reasons Big Bang even had to happen and so Nexon decided to balance the game around whales or people with 100%+ main stat investment. Bravo Nexon for making bosses like Zakum and Horntail go from a team effort of many people to soloable. Another issue I had with the game is the homogenisation of the jobs. Before many jobs had specific niches or unique playstyles, such as the Dark Knight balancing their HP at low thresholds, Nightlords having high mobility and a clone, Shadowers having meso bomb setups and being nearly impossible to hit with their rediculously massive avoidability, Corsairs dismounting and mounting their battleship, Buccaneers comboing and dodging with speed boosts and cooldown resets for the party, FP Mage poison mists, and etc. Nowdays every job for the most part has a teleport or flash jump ability, full map attacks, and hit absurd amounts of damage multiple times. There's still a few cool jobs that came out later like Battle Mage and Cannoneers, but it's just a bit too much that they're becoming too similar to each other with minimal gimmicks separating them from being more or less the same. Lastly, Nexon is to partially blame as well with their poor communication, customer support, and general greed. They're slow to respond to tickets or outright close them, have had players vunerable to security issues or database leaks letting farmers and hackers run rampant on account hacking, acting too slowly to dupers and meso exploiters, and rarely took the time to take legal action against the many prominent black markets or ban RMT ongoing in their game. I still talk to people I've met in that game and on other forums such as Basilmarket, Southperry, Sleepywood, etc. and I will hold those memories as precious, but I can see past the rose tinted glasses. I think the game was a product of its time and that when it eventually closes people will move on or make a similar game with much less bloat and hopefully more community goodwill.
Holy crap the potential system, I remember grinding earring drops for specific stat % rolls to sell for mesos in terms of classes exactly!!!’ So many freaking redundant classes that make no sense or outright feel dumb. I really appreciate your comment man, was a joy to read!
I hope that the game bounces back though I really do.
@@VagrantVideos Thank you kindly for your response.
As unlikely as I think it is for it to make a comeback, I really do want more good for it. There's a ton of passion put into the game and it shows with its beautiful environments and gorgeous music (Ellinia, Ellin Forest, El Nath, Magatia, Crimsonwood Keep + the Phantom Forest and the deepest parts of Ludibrium will always be my favorites). Which are your favorites?
praisedaura music wise CWK is by far one of my favorites. Aqua Road, ToT, Ulu City, theme park, so many choices.
Maple was way more fun back when I was younger. I still come back to it once in awhile but it was always just a patten. The game has a special place in my heart. I still even have my old account.
Same here eddy cept the account part
Honestly, i just think the overall concept of the game has changed. Back then it was more about socializing with other players, having them around to help you progress throughout the game, do PQs with them, etc.
Now it's more of a solo-player game, focusing on enhancing your gear, getting more damage, and mostly farming.
I'd say that both versions of that game are good, it's just a preference of what you want in your game, whether it's communication, or progressing with your damage.
I love both old and new maplestory, probably old maplestory more because it is nostalgic, and nothing can beat that.
That is a good point, but to that I would argue the game is considered a MMORPG, a massively multiplayer online role playing game. The fact that the game is more solo makes NO sense, if the game was meant to be single player why didn't they just create a single player game?
@@VagrantVideos i dont think you understand. before it was very big on socializing you lvled faster and got more rewards from party quests which made you talk more and obviously socialize more. now days you lvl waaaaayyyyy faster playing solo and grinding 24/7 in a single map for 3 months just to get gains and move on to the next map. its an mmorpg yes but you wont go far fast partying as you would soloing.
Requires way too much grind... Or money
You've given a game justice I had no idea could get any more.
I tried to!
Your video made me tear up. I played MS from 2008 to 2017 and no other game will ever come close to the amount of fun I had during those years. I remember playing with my brother for hours ever single day racing to get to level 200. MapleStory was synonymous with my childhood and I’m sure no other online game will ever feel as magical
Sebas Saavedra ya like I say in the video I fear I will NEVER have feelings like that again in a video game. I would talk to my guildees in skype for hours, added them on Facebook, etc. I don’t do that anymore in any of the MMORPGs I play. I really miss the connections Maplestory had.
short anwser : dead
but damn it was fun
Rofl I can respect that
Thanks
It was said like that every year since 2010 and it's still alive after 14 years, big thanks to the whales. Im a 2006-2009 player and mapleroyals has been a blast and captures about 87% of the magic.
@vagrant same to you!
Korean server is still going really strong, and there are a lot of korean youtubers make guide to help newbies. The updates were made to cater to their original audience i think.
Very true actually it would make sense to cater to your actual player base which in their case is Korea but it’s not like they can’t differentiate what GMS gets they do it all the time
Because it isnt as p2w as the global one. The community is friendly. Everything is cheap in the market. And they even give you free NX, red/black cube etc... Like a lot

The music of MapleStory always brings a breeze to my heart. What a time! Life was once so simple and joyful in childhood, not much burden and full of joy, I could enjoy the experience, and just be in that moment. Nothing else to really worry about. Those were the days. Can’t find back that kind of innocence now. The MapleStory music does take me to my childhood for a moment.
Anytime I hear it an a video I immediately say that’s x track. And I think about playing in those areas
This game will always remain to have a special place in my heart, 11 years ago. Goosebumps just watching this video, nostlagia. Awesome video, i think the original MS has died but i now have reverted to private servers with the V62 version.
Glad I gave you that sense of nostalgia
Once that OST hit a wave of nostalgia just hit. Damn i was so into this game growing up.
That tutorial island BS (Taking so long to kill an Orange Cap Mushroom). I remember grinding for Ilbi's and that perfect Sauna Robe rolls.
Ahh man, such fond memories, met some really amazing people growing up playing this !
I wish I was still in contact with the ones I met, for all I know they could be doing amazing things
Im still going hard on this game to this day it does hold a place in my heart i didnt care if it was paid to win i have so much memories of this game i just can't throw away
I can definitely respect that, keep grinding man
When you said Maplestory still holds a special place for you, i got chills. sometimes i wonder how my long lost friends are doing. if you knew anyone named MewChelsea let me know! 🥺😭

Used to play a lot but I quit around the same time when the Evan came out, however, as you said on the video no other game gave me so many memories and happy moments as MapleStory, I met so many people from different countries and it was great to explore and play with them, seeing a lvl 200 character was almost as meeting a god and you wanted to be like them, by the time I was lvl 135 I had my own family to give exp buffs and play together but it became kind to find time to play as the years passed. I really miss those days and will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for the video, it brought back so many happy memories.
Glad I was able to bring some good memories back
I gave this game two years of my life from 05 to 07. It was a great game. It came out on my birthday in 05 which made me 14 at the time. I remember my cousin and I playing this game for hours upon hours. Unfortunately I think I just grew out of it. MS was amazing though, I had never played anything like it at the time and always like revisiting it every now and then here on youtube. Thanks for the memories.
It’s nice to hear that so many people played this game like me. Can’t believe I still get comments two months later
i've played this game since 2008 and i'm still an active player. while i miss the pre bb content, the game is geared more towards endgame content and bossing these days. the level 200+ content is just as grindy, especially as you reach level 220/230+. reaching level 275 is a great achievement. even 250 is something i have not yet achieved. i think it is akin to reaching 100+ pre bb. there's a ton of new content, which is something that even i find overwhelming because i miss the simplicity of the grind in the early 2000's. it's hardly the same game it was pre bb, but all games need to change, especially as it has kept a large amount of its serious players over a span of so many years. it's worth looking into the level 200+ content, because a ton of new areas and ways to progress have been added.
Maybe one day I’ll get into that deep
god the opening sound so much nostalgia
In the nostalgia feels

The power of a good melody.
I've constantly quit and comeback to the game due to curiosity and then remember the constant grind and need for carries to get the gears you always wanted.
Grind is every mmorpg but maple made it fun
Loved this game so much .. the countless hours of gameplay .. I hope one day nexon will bring a classic version , great video keep it up
Thanks! I hope you stick around for my future content and I would love a classic version of MapleStory...ugh but with all I play I wouldn't know where to fit it in!
Oh man this video brought me back...I remember summer of 06 or 07 getting back from Borders bookstore and my sister and i alternating between playing MapleStory and reading the guardians of gahoole books every night! I’d pay an unreasonable amount of money to go back to those seemingly endless summer nights
Ya I’d do anything to go back to when I played MapleStory with my ex Toni and her friends.

I went back on MapleStory just to see how old my oldest quest was. It was completed on 2008/9/20 at 15:00. I also still got 1k prepaid NX on it lol.
It was fun. I'm not crying. I swear.

I still have my maple weapons. Many of them are extremely rare i think. And I still have my surfboards and tons of stuff I doubt people can really get anymore.
I remember when I played this back in Beta days. Can’t believe it was that long ago.
Dude time flies when we get older it sucks
I started playing a few months after it was released in USA. I always loved it. I was so proud of my level 46 cleric. I remember when pirates came out. I'd love to see it go back to the old fangblade controversy days. Great video man!
Thanks Ronnie! I’m hoping to make another episode on a different game this week. So if you like this sort of content I’d hope to see you there!
I started playing this game in elementary school, the last time I logged on was maybe 3 years ago during my sophomore year of undergrad. it’ll always be engraved in me. Thanks for this video!
I’m glad you enjoyed!!
I stopped playing when my parents switched our "family" PC to a Mac in the late 2000s. I still also played WoW which could be played on Mac, so that satisfied my MMO urges through college. I recently got that MapleStory M game which seems to have a lot of appeal to older veteran players. Definitely a simplified version, but really good for satisfying that nostalgia.
It reminds me of MapleStory adventures the Facebook game so I approve 👍🏻. I would be so sad if my parents switched to MAC back in the day and suddenly all my games wouldn’t work lol.
Although old maplestory was a lot more enjoyable
I do have to admit that if the game came out now the success wouldn't come close to back then
Ya that is very true
It's not dead because we all still think about it. There are so many great ideas out there on how to revive maplestory AND make a profit. Im not going to go into detail, I'm just going to apply to work at Nexon :)
If you get the job help us all out lol
Maplestory is indeed dead, RIP... one of the best games of ALL TIME. It will forever be LEGENDARY. I played from 2004 - 2006 roughly. I played GMS. I was there for Beta with the black bandanas with the red maple leafs. This time was THE BEST time ever. I was in 8th grade... I would come home after school, after hanging out with my friends, and IMMEDIATELY log onto Maplestory... I loved the game so much, I made a song about it. These were the golden years, I promise you. The community was amazing... there was no such thing as NX cash at first. Just everyone playing the game and having fun... there was no better feeling. Party Quests were so much fun. Kerning and then Ludi.... I remember I still played a bit in High School, but a lot of my friends had stopped playing, and also people were PQing less and less, so the game became just about leveling up. There was less of a sense of community. Then when the NX cash came, it became about spending money, and less about playing the game together. I’m afraid things will never truly go back to the golden era, but just the fact that it existed is enough for me...
Reminiscing is the best part about it for me at this point. We’ll never be able to get those exact feels back, but remembering the times can bring the feels back if just for a moment... For everyone who still plays, I’m not saying you shouldn’t play, but it will never be the same. The damage is already done. At this point just appreciate what was, and what is. It’s just part of life. What I think would be super cool at this point, would be some type of meet up, where people who played during the golden age could meet other people who played during that time, and there be some huge con, kind of like NYC comic-con... where the people who played MS from 2004 ~ 2007 can come together and just reminisce... maybe watch videos from back then, meet the original game developers... the people who created the music, have some of the OG’s speak (Tiger and other high levels from back then). IMO that would be the absolute coolest thing at this point. I wanna meet the people who created the game, the people responsible for creating those memories... just to thank them for creating some of the most beautiful memories in my life. And being around other people who played the game during that time. If that could happen, that would be the most beautiful thing. Anyone else agree? And they should have it in Korea, the birthplace of the game.
I want to say there is a MapleCon, just not sure where...
Vagrant probably not publicized enough if i didn’t know about it /:
maybe one day i’ll organize a really huge maple con exactly like what i was talking about... hopefully in the next 3-7 years... look forward to it ^^
avery if you have the resources for that please do it like yesterday
Also I wanna modify my comment... MS is dead for me because it can never be how it once was during the golden era. For all the new gen MSers... it’s still alive and well. But the game developers need to somehow bring back that old feel with the community and PQing... and making it difficult to get to level 100. (I remember when level 70 was a HUGE deal). Make it wayyyy less Pay To Win... so that people actually have to focus on playing TOGETHER. if they can do that, i personally still probably won’t play again, but it will be much better for the new generation.
Vagrant i will definitely do that when i’m able.. wait for me 🙏🏾✨
i lost my account which was a lv 140 priest, but remember unlocking it one day
coming back to the nostalgic music was bliss, but i overall felt overwhelmed by the grind and implication of multiple classes
Classic maplestory had each character serve a "huge" purpose in Party Quests, overall making you feel unique and wanted
now you have classes that just cover everything.
I still remember being a child and literally "crying" from happiness when I finally descended the tower and reached the water level
I didn't fully belong there being a few levels under, but Maple Story used to encourage that exploration without punishing too hard
As a kid/teen, Maplestory always had a way to make you feel special and wanted. Not only for your character, but for you as a person
Oh boy discovering Aqua Road for the first time and having the music play is just...mwah perfection.
Then you scream as you die because you went to the deep ocean section to get one shot by a bone fish
@@VagrantVideos oh my god yes you get it 100% completely xD
then when you get strong enough to withstand, those exploration instincts kick in and you want to go find Pianus
I felt like an explorer, stopping and studying these new "bad-ass" creatures in front of me was so cool
Something else i missed that made me cry/sad was the Christmas event maps where a friend and I would buy christmas letters and drop em to spell something sweet/nice to one another
The song of that area still remains on my Playlist purely to remind myself of those times
and when i was on my 3rd skill advancement? the snowy mountain i had to climb? the dark stones i had to invest millions to buying? the quiz i had to preach at the peak of the mountain?
it was HELL, but the creatures and music met on the path, and the struggle made you have the biggest sigh of relief/accomplishment
similar to the ones you'd get once completing a jump-quest, but better
I apologize for my ranting, it's just a first time I think someone related to something that was so precious in my childhood.
Thank you for that friend ^^
ProjectAwesomes haha I’m glad I was able to share memories with you!
I never knew about reboot idea. And that gave me a great idea. How about create a server with only original classes and on hard core mode with no op characters etc, with huge active free market, pq etc.
That would be sick!
Wow, I'm not sure how this came up in my recommended, but damn.
I remember playing MS back in 2006~2008 roughly (roughly when 4th jobs came and Pirates were beginning to be conceived). A good portion of our school played, along with a few cousins of mine. A lot of us headed off to universities, trades and other careers however, and many of us left the game.
One of the biggest appeals of it for us was the community engagement. The idea that you could come home from school, meet online and all join PQ (Party Quest) together, no matter your level block, there was a PQ to play, even above level 60 if I recall correctly, and when there wasn't, there was a sense of mystery back then. I recall a group of us going into the Sleepywood tunnels to find Balrog Jr., or the times we'd head to Orbis via the ship from Ellinia and see Crimson Balrog, who was considered one of the strongest mobs in-game back then, lol.
I haven't heard much about it since then, just as the video suggests. However, I've gained a few Discord and real life friends who have told me every now and then of how the game is, and it's honestly sad to see for me personally. It really does appear to have fully detached from its roots of communal play.
Funny, I believe it was around v.62 that we left the game; glad I can say I've been around for what many consider to have been its prime.
Wow I would have loved a full class of us playing lol
ever since i can remember ive had a crippleing social fear making it difficult for me to want to socialise with others, the party system of the past with the party quests coupled together with this games interesting world to explore and great music made my life very very enjoyable, hanging around with strangers, making friends and all the funniest banter that went along with it, ill never forget how rewarding it felt to be part of that massive playerbase that made the game rich with life and laughter
It really was all about making friends back then, the community was so much better. Now it’s all solo play, no one talks
@@VagrantVideosyeah, thats why each time I get the urge to go back i remember that i wont find that same game anymore, i would rather look towards progressing fanbases and working towards a future game where the original spirit of the maplestory community could come and party again without the corporate constraints pulling players apart, heres hoping man!
Coming in with my story: I think my most memorable time in Maplestory was like 11-12 years ago. I remember meeting this girl with the same irl name as me, and through her I met another good friend. Through him, another good friend. Then another through the main girl. Then I met another close friend in Henesys just from poking them with my weapon. Then we met another close friend. Eventually ALL of us became close for the two years I played. They pushed me to level up, we roleplayed together, told each other secrets, messaged on MSN, and just became a family. They are all probably my age now. I hope they're ok.
I had similar experiences we messaged on msn and nowadays I wish I knew what happened to them
It's not often I find videos regarding the history of a game that I played but man, you got me feeling real sad and old ooof. Good video though!
Haha glad you enjoyed man, hope to see you in future content!
For the OG player as my self maple story will always be in our hart.
I haven’t play in quite some time, I heard about the changes that they made and how easy it is now a day to lvl up and get everything. Maybe if they make it the way it was back in 2006 it would bring a lot of us back home. Although I have to say thank you for the good moment you gave me MS.
No problem I love all the comments I’m getting on this video
I remember that Maplestory fish advertisement from when I was a kid omg
It was weiiiiiird
What I remember is speaking with one of my best friends, sitting in his garden to take a break from Mapling, cuz.. you know...
One must eat. So we sat there, in the sun, speaking about what MapleStory would look like in the future... We were really thinking about what classes they could add, after the pirate class had been added...
We've been playing since 2006 and stopp right around 2012. In between 2012-2019 we've been playing on and off, mostly off though..
The funny thing is, the classes that MapleStory now has... are like beyond our imagination back then. Funny shit.
Cuz there’s like 59 of them lol
I remember playing this game back in 06 everyday. I would get out of school and play my warrior class with my best friend and cousin when there was only the explorers to pick from. Then I tried out Evan, Mechanic, and eventually Demon Slayer. As I grew older and had less time, I stopped playing. But I would always be drawn back in the summer. I came back two years ago for the first time in a while to play the new Blaster class. Then I just now started thinking about Maplestory again, and wanted to try Angelic Buster with my best friend. I forgot my old password, and Nexon isn’t sending the change password email. So maybe it’s finally time to put Maplestory in the past for good, I’ll cherish the memories I made with my friends and guild members.
I played maplestory sometime in 2007 and I stopped playing it sometime in 2017, it was fun and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I do get the urge to play it from time to time but I lose interest when I do log in, at this point I just keep my account around for nostalgic purposes. I've met some wonderful people through the game and I still keep in contact with them. The community was pretty nice and friendly during the periods that I played, people actually would say Hi and they actually took the time to talk to you, not sure if its like that now. Anyways it was fun and from time to time I do go back to check the new updates but other then that I just casually play some of the song.
Any time I play if I run into someone they never say anything. It’s like I don’t exist. Relationships don’t form in maple anymore
I still play maplestory because i just cannot get that game out of my head, it brings so much memories from its golden days..

Wanted to check NA and i was suprised how lively it was preferred to europe..
Really? How many servers are at EU?
@@VagrantVideos 2 Luna and Reboot, luna is more populated
Still i need to add to this, i wouldnt like if maple returns to old or so (pre big bang) because how i remember it i started playing just after the big bang relase. Haha i remeber having slow pc and internet and when i would cc to 1 my computer almost crashed at henesys.. I got better pc eventually and when i got it maple wasnt so popular anymore, but still way popular than today. Maybe things would be differently if i were couple years older and played before big bang?
RmGamerFi not sure but the numbers don’t lie, pre Big Bang had tons of players versus the game now
I didnt know shit about maple story, but after watching this video I have a better idea of the game and its history.
A similar video on RS3 would be awesome.
Good video bro. Well made and very informative!
Mike Heinemann holy cow a video on RS3....the amount of research and planning would be insane. Maybe one day lol
Maplestory well always hold a special place in my heart..I lost my grandmother the day before my first time logging on.. I used it as a coping mechanism. I have played since the game was very small and grindy back when tiger was the highest level player. 😢 every now and then I log back in power grind a few levels as my favorite class the bandit.
Try some private servers!
I first played maplestory in january 2007 and I stuck with it all the way until 2015/2016. But eventually the game evolved so much and felt so foreign I gave up on it. I now play old school private servers exclusively, the challenge and nostalgia is what keeps me playing them!
Same here! Royals or legends?
Mostly legends but I just recently started on royals! The larger player base attracted me. Both servers are equally good imo
Damn. The starting and the background music made me feel so bittersweet. I’m glad there’s people talking about maplestory still. I do agree that maple feels foreign now, but I find myself going to old school places, just to listen to the soundtracks, and reminisce about the good old days.
Feels good man 👨
This is going to be a very long post, but I know exactly why it doesn't have the same charm, and you can infer it right from the adds, it was supposed to be a cool world to hang out in, and while grinding was one of the main focal points of the game, it wasn't necessarily about the grind.
I played on a private server that was as close as they could get to the original GMS launch, and playing through that launch and for a few months after made me realize how social the game was. Not everyone had movement skills, and skills in general did much less damage, and potion spamming was a good way to go broke fast. Even with a scaling EXP boost (Started at 2x at Lv 10 and scaled down to 1x by 80, there were no XP boosts in the cash shop), this slowed down the pace of the game dramatically, and made the most efficient grinding require multiple people in the map, as time spent moving was time wasted. It also made grouping more beneficial, assuming your party members had comparable levels and clear speeds. So pairing this slow pace with only having access to Victoria Island (Orbis came out a month or so after the launch), the population was very dense, and you spent more time in a single area. Grinding spots that had become useless were being used again due to overflow from the good areas. This led to the world feeling more alive and let you get to know more people, there weren't a lot of areas that were great solo, so you all weren't just competing for the best grind one man spots to get through as fast as possible (Disks at the top of kerning tower, I'm looking at you!). You also had to trade with other players to get gear past 30, as without orbis there were no shops that sold them, the market was lively and while there were player shops, they were 1M mesos so most players opted to sell stuff the old fashioned way, though we did have a trade channel on the discord that made that significantly easier.
I was also reminded of just how great the map design was. The biggest atrocity big bang did was make the map's linear and boring. In the original, especially early on, exploring was kinda dangerous, the maps were big and you never really knew where they were gonna take you or what was gonna be on the other side.
Playing on this server though, I also began to realize what went wrong. I stopped and went back at the 5 month mark, after Ludibrium came out on the PS, and things were already quite different. The player base had a lot very dedicated grinders, and had moved into the higher level zones, leaving the early zones more barren. The prices on the market inflated to match the income levels of those higher level zones as well. It made me realize that in the original GMS, as more areas were released, and the player base became more spread out, grinding to "catch up" to other players became more appealing, which led to higher sales in XP boosts, pets, teleport rocks, anything to make the grind faster. Because people grinding was making more and more money, why would nexon not keep that on track? The focus of the game not only from a development and monetization standpoint, but from a community stand point, shifted to getting people to those end game zones as fast as possible, which took more time out of the social aspects, the things that made the grind worth it in the first place.
Now this took years to happen, unlike on the private server, a steady stream of new players kept the game populated and full of life. But, even if an official "Classic MapleStory" came out, I don't think it's something we can get back. The game is not new anymore, it would face the same problem classic WoW has just faced. Everybody knows the best builds, the best gear, the most efficient grinding spots, there will be no mages that use armor (you spend more on luk than you get back in MATT and INT from gear), because we're just not that naive any more. The wonder is kinda gone, I remember exploring dangerous areas right after a level so I wouldn't risk EXP, I remember just sitting and chatting with people for hours in low level zones, treating the game as a cool place to hang out, and a fun quirky world to enjoy. Seeing the player base on that private server be SO into the grind, it just makes me wonder if it would just be ruined all over again. Of course the game is a korean grind fest, it always was, but when it gets to the point that you focus on it so much that only your progression matters, not the people you meet and the stories you make along the way, well, people start ignoring the social aspects of the game, interacting with others becomes a burden, and it kinda just becomes a shitty Skinner box at that point.
Ah this post really takes me back. Thanks for the long details! I would agree that the wonder is gone but its not something I don't think we CAN'T get back it might just take something fresh but also a slice of old.
I truly do think a Classic server would help but who knows I'm no developer!
Maplestory was probably the only MMORPG I ever played. Coming home from school and signing onto Maplestory was always one of my favorite memories from my childhood. I've created many characters on there and they're all still there collecting dust until i decide to go back. Now my thoughts on the game:
Big Bang definitely did turn people away but i personally enjoyed the update cause it added some of my favorite new classes (Wild Hunter and Mechanic) but what made me give up on the game was just bloating and new updates adding way too much to the point i logged in recently and I had literally no idea what to do or where to go because like you said, all of the constant daily quest updates and just a bunch of new items and systems I had no idea how to use. I personally haven't tried Reboot yet
It might be for you, it does have some extra flavor to it but it’s still the same Maplestory
i agree....they keep adding shit and they make it more and more complicated...i play bera now but only casually...i won’t be able to play like i once played it
My best friend had me hooked since 2007 I was 7 years old playing this game i grow up with it playing until 2018. The memories I shared the weird pixel girlfriends, grinding, friendships, spending 10 dollars every week just to look cool my end result was a lv120 shadower I leveled slow took my time I never got to boss but that’s fine R.I.P pre Big Bang maplestory you are missed.
Private servers keep the dream alive
Vagrant true mostly nostalgic for me wouldn’t really get back into it unless retail classic servers were a thing.
I miss it so much, one of my biggest regrets was not keeping in touch with friends, we had myspace back then, but I barely used it, and it quickly faded once Facebook took over! Still remember the commercial, card game, even had the DS version. If we had Instagram and FB back then, I'm so convinced I'd still be in touch with many of them!
Ya I always wonder what happened to my ex-gf on the game.
@@VagrantVideos Omg I wonder the same with mine, I'm convinced I had better dating skills online back then lol, took a transition to shift to real life dating
@@VagrantVideos Feel like most of them are probably living regular lives, working traditional jobs, hopefully still gaming, simply in other areas lol
I joined the community at a young age just a little bit before the big bang, so i dont remember the times before the big bang very well, but maplestory still makes me very happy as the first game i was kinda invested in, and even tho alot of the game is foreign to me, i still revisit just to grind and enjoy the nostalgia from time to time. Even tho maplestory may never be as good as it once was, i will always keep it in my heart as a precious game.
Current game is STILL fun just nowhere near as full in the community as it used to be.
I rly miss Maplestory.. I started playing maple around 8 years ago (i think). But the thing is that everytime I install it to visit back, it doesn't rly make me continue playing, the longest I've played after i quit maple was like around a month, sometimes weeks b4 uninstalling it agn.. I always get this kind of feelings when I wanna play Maplestory but I just simply can't bcus of how Maplestory has transformed over these years ;-;
It’s the same for me, anytime I do play it’s not for long
They should release oldschool maplestory like oldschool runescape! I started playing maplestory when the gunslinger class was released on GMS!
Old school maple would be so good
yo we started playing at the same time 😄 those were the days
I miss party quests and every time I ask if someone wants to train with me they just say no :(
Apparently it’s just better to solo :(
@@VagrantVideos yeah true but its also what made me quit :( I hate playing games alone
like many comments said, i will always ALWAYS love this game. i’ve played many private servers in my time but i personally will always go back to the global maplestory when i want to enjoy the gaining mesos and avoiding social things. private servers always widened my friends and such. but global maplestory will always be one of my favorite games. it opened many doors to a variety of games for me back in 2009 and i will always come back to it every once in a while.
I think we all want to go back sometimes
Awesome video. Maplestory was my youth but I haven't thought about it for like 10 years. Gonna download it right now to see what its like
Have fun!
I haven't played for some time just due to lack of interest. I use to play MS for hours and hours before high school (23 now). I went back a few years ago because I had a buddy that played and it was a very different game. I just remember how effortless it was to get over level 100 vs back in the day when it took a lot of time and grinding to achieve a high level. I'd go back if I had friends to play with. I would definitely want something old school though.
Same here, best I can say is research private servers for the old school feel
@@VagrantVideos ClassicMS was great. Don't know if it's still alive.
Regarding 13:50 I think that's just the general feeling about your first MMO. I've heard people from GW, WoW, EveOnline et.c describe their experience with those games the same way.
My first mmorpg was Runescape, although I agree on that description
I've put more time into maplestory than I can fathom. I had a lot of fun in 2005 -2007. There was nothing like it. Me and my friends got together a lot and I'm happy I found it when I did. 15 years later... I'm older now, watch a lot of youtube about gaming industry. I see maple for what it really is anymore, a cash grab. The game was fine at the start, the microtransactions were there but not wholly invasive. Now the game is packed with every microtransaction known and what the game did have to offer at the beginning is still fun but it gets old very quickly. As many times as I've tried to get back into maple, I've had the same exact experience. That is that when I hit "the grind" the game ceases to retain any of the charm that had brought me back. The affore mentioned grind is a point from lvl 100 onward that nothing interesting happens and you just do a bunch of grinding and go to 200. That's it. I realized what I was missing at that point, friends. Maplestory only got where it was because of the community. Now where is the community? Last I played there were still people playing but there is such a difference in power level that most would struggle to even get a percentage of what I had. Since most of maplestory's progression is rng based it's likely to put most anyone off. "Maplestory's progression system is mostly rng" Some might think. Shouldn't I just level and that's enough? No, impossible, I have a 206 xenon and a 200 warrior/hero. My hero could not touch my xenon any day of the week because of gear discrepancies. That gear I own was part skill to obtain but it's how it was upgraded that makes all the difference and my god I have no interest in going thru that rng hell again. That's it. I will no longer play maple with such brutal rng schemes designed to halt your progress and frustrate you into buying microtransactions.
Toofpace I’ve NEVER EVER liked the progression scrolling system. Always hates it and I’m sure it’s even worst now.
Like I say in my video those memories I will never forget. this comment is perfect, thank you 😊
The good old Carnival days... it was very competitive and fun with your friends... that one cleric you needed for the healing and you carry as a bandit like a badass seeing all those sweet numbers, damn am about to cry man.. alot of memories
Keep it in man, Maplestory still lives in private servers
I also miss pqs, it was not as efficient as solo farming, but it was a social experience sitting in the pq lobby trying to find a party with complete strangers then working together to get through it.
