I had a great time with this game for a couple years. There were plenty of players and I actually met my wife on LaTale. So I really want the game to survive for sentimental reasons but going back and playing it after relaunch, the game felt different. The economy was destroyed, no one talked outside of their own groups and it was rare to find another player outside of town and if you did it was just them running past you and you’d be alone again for another 30 minutes. What kept people grinding was chatting with people for an hour while you grinded out your exp potion. Now that it’s so difficult to find groups or even talkative players, there’s no desire to play that long grind. Unfortunately, it feels safe to say the games dead at this point. Great video man, was a nice hit of nostalgia.
Congratulations sir on finding a life long partner on a video! I’m very happy for you 😄 Anyways thanks for watching I’m glad to bring out the nostalgia in you.
kinoki aranongas Searos was probably my biggest one. I never joined any of the big guilds. I started my own for a while and eventually gave it away after it started gaining a good bit of people, then joined a friends guild til I quit.
Og server is where I met many friends and joined a guild. They watch me to my first ever lv.100 and earned my first 200m ely. But one day they never come online again. I was all alone, being the only one active in the guild. I check in every day despite being busy, in hope that they will reply my mail but they never did. I stayed until the server is terminated. I broke down crying for good, felt that I lost a part of happy memories and childhood. I am an emotional person, I cherish every relationship came across my life. Like much. I still kept the first 10m ely my guild leader gave me, and I still remembered her name is NekoYen. She brought me to my friends KyodaMisaki, Violet and others. I went to Papaya, first day of server launch there are many players but gradually it's decreasing. Auction things are ridiculously expensive too and I can't afford for good upgrade. Many things to keep up and I am lost of keeping track. Dying on dungeon or during quests. A lone adventurer sigh. Till now I am still playing alone, with my broken equipments and few ely and dull knowledge about the game. Sorry for the long post and bad grammar, had to get out of my chest somehow. The mixed feelings hit me like a train.
I remember playing this game back in the day when Maplestory became stagnant. What I really liked about it back then was that PVPs would encourage players to interact with each other so it wouldn’t feel so solo-y. Unfortunately, both games ended up on the same path. I just wish LaTale and Maplestory would realize that what the people really want (casual gamers or otherwise) isn’t to level up faster, but to interact with other players. Now it’s basically impossible to make friends on either games- at least it is from my experience. Anyways, you just gained another subscriber for the awesome video and for the terrific editing :)
OGPlanet LaTale was basically what made me a gamer, but I wasn't able to play the game for years... I'm sad to see that after all this time, it's not doing so good
I stopped playing after they reboot. Played this game since I was like 13? I'm 22 now. Played in Season 1. I used to love this, well, I still do. I remember how nice everyone was back when I was younger. Well, yesterday I started playing again, and turns out one of my old friends still plays so I joined him. But, when he was offline, it felt to quiet. The Channel 1 that used to be so crowded was gone and the friendliness with them. I wish I could just relive that moment. Playing with my friends again and just chat. I wasn't really a good player, I just jump in to see my friends. In fact, I lag so bad lol. My character was Kuronyan. Great video btw.
roycantpvp well if I ever get a large audience one day maybe I can give the LazyPeon effect and bring lots of new players to small games like this just because of a video
Me and my wife love Latale, it's where we met, we're both from very faraway countries. We will always love Latale and we always return to it. For those new people I could tell them, try it out, it really is a great game! We are Zmat and Xio94 for the people that remember us!
Greetings from Hong Kong. I miss this game so much! I started playing this game when I was studying in primary school (I am 18 yrs old now). I played as a knight during that time. I still remember I had a lot of fun in exploring the Latale world. After level 39, l stopped grinding level but getting around ever corners of the map I could reach. Because my level was so low, I had to keep jumping when I was getting through the wild area so that the mobs wouldn't have a chance to one shot me. I died a lot during traveling. But it was totally worthy when I listened to the new ambient music and watched the fantastic scenery in a place I had never been to. I think my first experience in Latale lasted for 6 months. I then switched to Telesrunner and came back a year or 2 later. In the second time playing Latale, l kept playing as a knight. I gave up grinding level by myself at around level 50 this time. One day, I found there were players who were willing to help other players level up their characters. In return, those players had to give them gash. I really wanted my character to advance, but I couldn't endure the lengthy and boring process of leveling up my character. As a result, I gave gash to those players. Luckily, my account wasn't stolen, my character successful leveled up to 140 something and my character finally got advanced (for 2 times). I was so hyped when my character could finally learn some flashy skills! But I am sure I would get much more hyped if I leveled up my character to that level by myself. I can't forget I spent more than 1000 hkd (125 usd) for the leveling service. 1000 hkd was a ton of money for a kid in here, I actually stole my dad's money when he was sleeping at night. My dad was so nice not punishing me. I still have a lot of stories to say but I can't say them all at once. It's really sad that the current Latale is no longer a fun game to play. You can level up to level 200+ within a few days. But after the long grinding, what you can only feel is emptiness, you can't stop thinking the purpose of play this game! Even though I didn't level up my character by myself most of the time. I still had a really great time playing this game. Really hope Latale can get better in the future, just as how it used to be. Btw thank you so much for this video! Please forgive my poor English.
Thank you so much for watching! I didn’t have as much great memories as you do but I do remember setting up my laptop in college and playing LaTale in the library and worrying if people would judge me for playing it haha. I didn’t care really though because I loved the game so much. I miss older LaTale like I miss old Maplestory
My cousin introduced this game to me in Spring Break week of 2009. I became hooked when I hit 50 levels from grinding. Over time, I joined a guild Syraix and made friends over time through social media. Time went on, and the guild either moved onto other MMOs or got busy with life. I haven't played in years when OGP gave up ownership, but I managed to hit Lv 200 within 2 months in Papaya for the free Lv 200 bonus. After that I stopped after feeling burned out. I had good memories, and I still watch old PvP videos to look back at players that inspired me. I remember spending hours in earlier seasons grinding for Soul Urns to make special weapons. I was bummed out when the weapon system changed when rare special crafted items were becoming obsolete. It's a shame some of the story changed, I missed fighting Zoe as a first boss as an intro to the strength of Iris's allies. The Dark Moon Castle was the most fun for me, I remember grinding urns until I had enough to craft and enchant a 40/40 Dark Moon Arjuna bow, while using special weapon tickets as upgrade fodder. A friend who was busy with medical uni was so happy for the gift, I felt real accomplished in giving.
Maaaaan, this brings back great times. I remember how excited I would be to grind through EXP potions with the friends I've met from questing. Nothing hit my nostalgia as hard as LaTale's in game music too one I heard it.
@@VagrantVideos I played this game since it came out for years, it was so amazing back in the day now it feels like there's no fun element in the game anymore. One of the best aspects of the game was how interactive the game was they had an actual community whereas everyone knows each other and even if you don't you get to know each other easily. you play together. you chat.
Ahmad Mohammad I remember when I was playing heavily I was invited to a few guilds and people were just so friendly we would shoot the shit in chat. Good times
Shout out to all my old friends, it was a blast. I recently started playing again for nostalgic reasons it is very different but a fun thing to reminisce.
I’ve had pure bliss playing this game and I miss the memories I grew fond of Once the game reset, I wanted to believe that it was back and this time I could enjoy the game I wanted to have with my friends but so many times did that game make me want to drop it You feel so staggered trying to grind up the needed love that was required to be put in the game to even get good And even then it wasnt enough as no matter where I fought or who I fought with there was that empty heartedness of the game telling me to go play something else if I didn’t inject money into it But feel pure hate as soon as the game sees you grind Every once in a day I wanna go back and live the dream of running dungeons with my guild again and trying my hand at making what gear I got to be better but then the desolation of how it feels to be so empty fighting a fight you just can’t win
I’m surprised there’s no old school servers for LaTale, then again it’s just not popular. I wonder what the game would truly have to do to climb and get people playing
Vagrant I thought about it really I would set it so that way raid bosses would do less Dmg and allow players to get 10%-20% per kill and set it so you can only get drops and xp from like 20 Of them and then after wards only get drops That way your not alienating the high levels Playing latale is like dating someone that’s super hot but loses attraction to you and starts cheating after after you get to a certain point
Used to play this along with Maplestory and Ragnarok. Not sure if you have played Ragnarok Online before, but would love an Alive or Dead video on that MMO. Great video as always!
It is very dead, downloaded it couple of weeks ago to play it for nostalgia but all the places are empty, no one in belos and 2-3 players in elias, I doubt it will exlpode in popularity again, I just hope for a new side scrolling mmorpg, they were so fun and you are damn right with the soundtrack of the game being 10/10, so many amazing songs that I even listen to this day
@@VagrantVideos we played those private servers befor the 4th job updates back in the day, even the private servers stopped existing around 4th jobs. We all migrates from ogp to gamespirate to lavalon and splintered off into the lease popular ones. I wish i could go back so hard.
I have so much nostalgia from playing this game in early high school. The music in this game is really great. I spent years playing this game starting in ‘08. Every now and then I log in but it’s simply not the same. It used to be so alive and now it just feels hollow. I really wish I could go back in time and replay this game at its peak.
@@VagrantVideosGuardian. Guardian was always one of my favorites even if I never made one. They were the only ones early-game that could get up on that one spot in Elias that required a double jump.
This is fantastic and well thought out content! Found your channel because of your Dead or Alive MapleStory video and Definitely look forward to watching your videos and seeing your content grow.
some of the best friends i have now i meet on latale, started playing it agaion a week ago just cuz i always wanted to reach max level with my templer but now the class feels a bit different from what it was before. latale is dying imo but nothing good lasts forever..... played in the beta... game will always have a place in my heart
I used to love the game, but after ogplanet died it has become unplayable in germany... 100 ping at best and horrible lag spikes:( I used to play this game all Day everyday, it makes me so sad that I can no longer play it...
One thing i miss is the old equipment and how you'd have to travel to the mine to get minerals to upgrade the gear to the next level. When you join now you can get a box of gear that basically make you unkillable all the way to like level 120. I went to a level 80 area as 60 and barely got destroyed
Its a shame because a lot of the time in maplestory and latale the friendships were made because the games were so grindy. It took forever to really get high high levels and when it took that long you'd find others to grind with. The bonds of the grind is what made the game so good but now that in either game you can reach 120+ in maybe a week or less of just grinding seems to just take the feeling of achievement and accomplishment out of it. I played the same era as fangblade and the original 4 latale classes. My heart crys for the original days but private servers just make me uneasy because of fear of safety for data.
Growing up i had four games that got me through late elementary, middle school and high school before i made online friends. Maplestory, latale s.o.s (secret of the solstice) and wonderking. Maplestory and latale are easier and some of the old areas i remember are gone like latale colosseum where you fought rounds of enemies, and maplestory's ghost harbor (singapore i think it was called) and wonderking was shut down due to some legal issues but i heard it's come back in korea. I hope one day it comes back to us in america since it was so fun especially when a class was called a sniper it was a sniper. Walking around as a military dressed soldier in a tank top with a ww2 helmet and a m1 garand shooting at little demons was so fun. I try to hold onto what i still have because life nowadays just isn't worth it sometimes. Can't afford to live, the world is burning down around us so lets live when life was good.
Thanks for making this video. I was always somewhat curious about LaTale as I really knew nothing about it beyond the fact that it existed and had a good soundtrack. It's unfortunate to hear that the lag basically ensured that this game was never fun to play for a lot of people. Perhaps if LaTale had been a good competitor against Maplestory, it would've kept NEXON on its toes and motivated them to keep the game's quality up.
Ya but LaTale also made the mistake of copying MapleStory’s easy leveling curve. Oh well...I have a 2D MMORPG I’m covering this next week that may be the last standing competitor that was forgotten
Yup, use to play this game a bunch way back on ogplanet. Played a bunch until the Christmas exp event and stopped a little before season 2. A little sad that it's not the same game I liked guess that's to be expected with most mmo that run for a while
I played this game when I was young and had many fond memories playing with my brother and his friend, after not playing this game for a while I want to return to it, also the one song I always remembered was belos
RIP OGPlanet LaTale ~ I miss that game I played it a ton from 2008-2012ish had to quit because the server moved and just got bored of it. Back when 200 was max level and engineer was the only extra class and I played a little of soul breaker. People would grind coliseum all day lol. And then paying to win became more of a thing. I was also the #1 PvP bard
Latale is and will be my favorite game ever. I remember I had a scroll in my OGP account where I could show that I've been a player since 2009. I've solo-ed many classes as speedruns till 170, I even logged the first day of papaya and the race to the first 200. Now only veterans play the game which is not bad but there aren't newcomers and I miss that. I miss having full my buddy list, I miss having an active guild and motivating each other to level or make cute characters. In almost every mmorpg that I've played since 2017 has felt lonely, I would try to reach the top level and then leave the game because nothing motivated me to keep going, so latale was one of those games which kept me going and going due to the people who played it. I really miss the old days, I miss my latale friends and I want this game to grow big here in the west. I've been returning every 5-3 months to check new stuff and there are a lot of changes and guides for new people, but not even my irl friends want to try it. I need this game to have more players. Maybe I'm being nostalgic but I can't keep leveling if I don't have friends leveling and chatting beside me.
MMORPGs are social experiences so you really feel it when it’s empty, in terms of getting a population for this game I wouldn’t know how it seems like it needs so much to get the ball rolling
@@VagrantVideosYeah, I think I will when I have time. Just for old times sake lol. I used to play a lot of these free to play anime games. Of all of them, this one is the most surprising to still see around.
Sarcastic Salami right??? Like holy crap. I enjoyed making this episode because it was quite surprising on many levels, especially to see it still around even after a shut down.
This video hit me with a large wave of nostalgia to a point where i almost cried thanks sadly the game feels like instead of dying its just straight up dead I'm not even sure why i still even play
I've played this game a crapton when it came out. Started during the OGP betas, and got to the top of the level rankings, as an Explorer and later Treasure Hunter. Several guildies also occupied top ranks on the leveling leaderboard. Shout out to everyone who was a part of Kirameki! When AeriaGames LaTale launched I moved there, since ping was no issue at all for me there. Ended at #1 on the PvP rankings during the beta, and was the 2nd player to hit lv80 at full release. I had to quit the game shortly after Soul Binder was released due to real life catching up to me, but I still found the game really enjoyable. Wanted to pick up OGP LaTale again after Aeria shut down the game, but unfortunately the person I allowed to use my OGP character for farming purposes had sold off/deleted everything I had there :( I picked the game up again on Papaya a few days ago and started a new character. I'm still not sure what to think of it. -The leveling is so fast all the early zones just feel like a dragged-out tutorial, even without leveling boosts. -Quests often point you to wrong zones. -Job advancements are nothing special anymore, just another dialogue you click through. -Translations for the revamped Scenario quests are terrible and often incomprehensible. -Farming for urns or special item drops doesn't exist anymore. -Equipment you find just clogs up your inventory, nothing you find is better than the newbie gear you get for free. -The crafting system is completely homogenized and made redundant by the newbie gear. -Skills such as broad jump are completely useless even right when you get them thanks to double jump now being a baseline thing. -My partner accidentally used a lv225 potion, and had to quit that character since she doesn't have a clue what to do now. -There are a ton of features visible in the UI that are never explained. -Similarly, it is equally unclear which game features are still worth exploring at all and which have been made redundant. -WTF is with all this pay to win crap? Pets (and later XP pots) used to be the only thing that even had a non-cosmetic effect in the cash shop. I'll probably grind to endgame to see what there is to do at that point, but it doesn't feel like this is still a game that I want to spend a lot of time on.
Oh, forgot about the revamped skill trees. The explorer one feels okay, but I really miss my Treasure Hunter's increased droprate/option rate finisher move.
Ya I felt the EXACT same way when I logged in, it’s trying to copy MapleStory in terms of progression which is a huge mistake. LaTale could have stayed the more hardcore alternative to Maple but instead they just copied it. Shame.
@@VagrantVideos as you said over time it was only less and less people and that game was based on the party play. I remember sitting under that Hynmu portal for ages waiting for someone to help. After many updates the ones who was still playing the game was the ones who could solo everything without any intentions of helping others with quests. Thats all i guess. but it was the best mmo ive ever played
ive loved this game all my life been playing since og planets 1 year anniversary and been coming back on and off for years i have a ton of fond memories of the time and the struggles it took back in the day i still remember a few of the more known players like Lady (savior) and Teddyz (bard) the guild i was in was multiplier so if anyone back in the og planet days that was in that guild would love to catch up again also dont forget that there was a couples and marraige system still in the game but i doubt anyone even uses that and what about all the hype when they took out the ladeck system i even remember the name of the main character i used (monkeycheese) idk the lvl but ik i made it to gunslinger before the papaya switch
I played this game back in 2008 on Chinese server. It was popular at the time and I really had fun playing it with my friends. The background music is so good that I'm still using My Heart is 123 bpm as the ringtone of my phone today. Sadly, all my friends quit the game one by one, and finally, I started playing Dragon Nest in 2011. After I came to the US, I picked Latale NA server (OGP) as a time killer. In the past decade, I picked it up and quit again and again. Although I was never one of the top players, and not even once reach the level cap, this game really means a lot to me. I have a level 206 blade master right now, but I'm not doing any grinding. I sometimes just running through maps and listen to the background music or play a few rounds of sky coliseum while watching hololive streams. The game today gives you an extra character slot quite frequently, so I also like to level some other classes just to see their combat skills. I have no idea what to do and where to go after level 200, but I'm still having fun in this game 2021.
Ah nostalgia bomb... I spent hours on this game. Started back in 2008 and literally played it till 2018... I was Jno/MikeyJr/Zomi... I miss my characters:( I miss the old school pvp too. Back on the days the pvp arena was always full. I'd like to visit it soon
I started during the beta and by far the biggest complaint people had was lag. I didn't have issues with it except rarely when the server was having issues, but so many people had unplayable lag when i was running smoothly, it was weird.
Vagrant it’s kinda rip when ppl kept mentioning how LT is like maple story LOL... however some ppl didn’t like s2 or s3 regardless I love it and still play time to time thanks for this vid rlly insightful!
I used to be “coolskater” lv 159 bladeslinger (judgement) i recently logged back in after years to relive my childhood just to find out i had to start all over again. Pretty sad tbh.
I found my old hard drive and decided to go though it I found this game and it legit brought a tear to my eye. I don't care I'm gonna play this again. My teenage years.
Man, I started playing a few years ago and I recall login in everyday on summer vacation, played it for hours and got to level 150 or something... The main problem with it is really the details, also it's kinda broken in terms of difficulty, you can just spam potions they give for free and you don't lose lol But yeah, I might still play it one of these days... I hope more people do, I hate seeing good mmos being shut down, been there already...
@@VagrantVideos Shin Megami Tensei Imagine... I'm a pretty big smt fan and at the time didn't have the time to really get deep into it... The good news is that a good private server is being worked on and already has a pretty decent community formed behind it, so when the server is ready to go I'll be sure to be there!
@@VagrantVideos That would be something, I'd be down for that :o My old characters does not exist anymore. Quite a shame, though I reckon none of my old mates play anymore anyway.
I honestly feel like if la tale had a reborn system after you reach the current max level (would’ve been level 200 you have the option to be reborn) you basically go back to level 1 with of course reborn skills/classes/stats but this time you can’t level up with quests
I feel so left out bc and of all these nostalgic comments left here, I’ve never even heard of Latale or Maplestory. My childhood was club penguin lol. Also I’m sorry to all the people who miss this game and hope the best and remember that our childhoods are the best parts of our lives.
Man love this game played in 2008 when it first came around.. great times great friends memories... Elias palace favorite best track in game.. sit on the bench all day after a hard grind .. Leveling up was actually fun back in the day a challenge.. and you actually went out and saw the world of latale.. and not like now a days where you have 1 or 2 specific spots of main lvl.. actually grinding in the mountains black bears, going to the pyramids and fighting skleletons lol then the beach with the crabs and so on it was great
Ahhh, I remember being a minor celebrity in LaTale, because of my series The Quest for 1 Billion Ely. I'm actually thinking about making a new series, "Revisiting LaTale as a Veteran Player".
What highly likely utterly destroyed NA LaTale was Papaya completely destroying the base game/beginning game/mid game. They made it to where you can level up at insane speeds so you can hit the EXP/Level 200+ wall gameplay so you're more quickly to spend money on it. Little do they know, that ironically makes everywhere barren. If you're a new player, you'll be in a world devoid of other newer players or anyone under 200 and immediately stratified with 200+ people just sitting in Belos. (For returning veterans reading, Elias isn't the 'main' town anymore, because midgame is dead. 'Everyone' is in Belos now. That's where everyone 220+ hangs out and those are the only people that typically play.) The grind from 1-190+ was an incredibly special adventure/experience that is supposed to take months and they took that away. They only want highly devoted 200+ cash cows to stay on. And that's only what you have. The game isn't sustainable as it is. Sure, it has a stronger level 200+ more than ever, but what value does that have now that the base game has been taken away? Although it's left conclusively ambiguous as usual in this series, highly certain it's dead. Look at Steam player count for LaTale for both average and peak daily. That takes the fun out of this series, I know, but it's just a quick assessment.
For sure, can’t even argue that man. Most of the games I’ve covered are LOWWW population. Hundreds of players, literally only hundreds. I miss the mid level grind in Latale it was more fun than Maple tbh
@@VagrantVideosRight? A super good question though is if KLT (Korean La Tale) is doing the same thing, where 1-200 can be zipped through in under a day, because KLT is still incredibly alive and popular today. (I've been trying to find that out for hours but I can't seem to find a solid answer on this lol) There's so many factors to consider why its population is so terrible for NA. I thought what I proposed could be a big reason, but who knows. But I definitely see very little allure starting from scratch to stay on the game. But btw, La Tale only has 10 average daily. It's absolute peak is 20-30. It's been like this for 2 years now, it's sad :( So LT doesn't even break 100
Played since open beta (aeria games), literally an OG and grew up with this game. Im 18 years old now and to this day LaTale is still my favourite game even if other games are more fun, just because of all the friends I made (who i lost contact with after aeria games, then OGP shut down :/). There is no other game that is as memorable as latale, it is truly a hidden gem. I just wished the devs worked on it so that its gameplay was more rewarding. Korean servers are still active to this day One factor that i think latale lacked was how useless guilds are despite this being an MMORPG which revolves around player interactions. They should make guilds have more rewards and incentives to join. I hate how guild crop has to be bought with real money most of the times. They should make quests that allow all guild members to participate in to work on getting the guild crop (like random monster drops while theyre just doing their grinding). They should also make guild rooms customisable, such as furniture. Monthly guild wars would be amazing. Guild dungeons would be great too. Higher guild level = monsters that give crazy XP Guild quests that can only be completed when you do it together with guild mates. Also the main reason why i frequently quit/take a break from latale throughout all these years of playing is how unrewarding quests are when you're level 180+. You kill like 120 monsters and the quests give you like 0.1% XP. It was a major turn off for me.
I came back to find this video for nostalgia’s sake. I’ve been a Latale player pre-papaya and after. Every single time I came back to the game, I made great friends - and ended up with great betrayals and heartbreak. You can see me in some of Gyron’s videos as Foxtri & Despair. I am the co-author for Latale’s current demigod guide. My review? Besides the incredibly messed up and toxic community, the game relies way too much on pay to win tactics to survive past dedicated whales. Thousands for pets and all of that, but the real awful kicker was the weapon upgrade system. You would spend an entire week grinding mats.. only to blow it on a maybe 15% success rate. It’s just impossible at that point. And you could blow up your main weapon and have to restart completely. No matter how many fond memories I have of the game, the people are not worth staying for and the game is a time & money sink. Why slave away hours of your life grinding for nothing?
I've been playing this game since 2009, I have SO much nostalgia connected to it, so I don't think I'll ever completely stop playing it, but it definitely does not have the same entertainment value as it used to.. Especially since I lost years (and like £60-£100) worth of memories, fashion, emotes ect. from the OGP-Papaya switch I still have a very good friend I met on LT about 3-4 years ago Edit: Does anyone have any other game rec that are similar to latale?
When I played back 2008 to 2011 I found this game vastly superior to Maple Story as I was very competitive in PVP. However, what killed this game for me was how pay to win it was. As a free player, slaving over the game 5 hrs+ daily couldn't keep up with the heavy min/maxers, couldn't keep up with how difficult it was to level at the time. I couldn't stand how each update made the last irrelevant meaning you had to repeat the same arduous task of beefing up your character when the cashiers would pay their way back up prestige stats. As the game progressed the game kept getting easier and easier meaning the game's personality/charm was left to the waste side. Players now no longer needed to party to bring down bosses or do quest or even grind. You simply bought XP boosters, jumped into a dungeon (skipping much of the game entirely) race to the top level and PVP'd til the sky turned pink OR you found yourself quickly with nothing to do and quit. What happens when the game is made easier via quest finders/helpers, XP boosters and grinding dungeons such as in the Colosseum is that you have a game filled with players, but the players are so sparse, all clustered in their own dungeon instances that you can't even see the 20 players right in front of you, cause well, their in dungeon instances. Edit, Got dang was this game a beast to run back in the day, I had to goto GGFTW.com and download a Low quality mod to run the sucker.
@@VagrantVideos Realistically speaking it never gave itself a chance. Back then people played MMOs socially, is why despite games being extremely grindy people played them anyway. It wasn't about racing to max level and even pvping, it was about hanging out with your friends talking to people all over the world which was previously (at the time) unheard of. Example being I never heard of the U.A.E until I met someone from there. The game didn't have many social aspects at launch and was super gridny, the pvp was okay but again the min/maxing made it a hassle to get into. Seeing la tale today is off putting in that it looks like its trying hard to be Maple, well, we already have Maple for that.
damn nostalgia lol i used to play on the ogp server for about 2 yrs when i switched to a private server, gamespirate (if anyone knows it), where i continued for about 3-4 years i really miss this game i will give it a shot on steam, anyone interested add "speti" and we can chat but i doubt anyone is willing to revive something dead haha good times though, miss my friends from there ty for the video :')
Everyone plays this because of the relationships they made, im an 08 beta player originally named questionmark. I met my first girlfriend and made friends from all around the world.
I THINK Papaya games allowed us to kinda save our OGPlanet characters [if you can call it that] and actually upload it somehow to papaya? But yeah that was definitely a kick to them.
I had a lv 194 Saint, and I have really bad latency because I was living in South America. I was addicted to that game a lot, then over the years they changed the pvp system when I tried to come back after years. It was one of my favorite games even though my lag was horrible. I tried come back to this year but I found out Papaya took over and the server is now in Britain. I was too late to recover my account back. I wonder if there is any NA private servers to play on.
Played latale a ton before it all went downhill. The game really fell fast after the gemcrafting update and map rearrangement. Before the world map was varied, with high level areas mixed with low and hidden places that made exploration fun. Now it's just a grinding wheel where you skip up to level 200 in an instant to get you to have to start spending astros to progress effectivly. You know what made Latale fun? sitting down and chatting while grinding in spooky, not opening lootboxes and using 1000 pet buffs to burn raid bosses in 2 seconds three times a day.
@@VagrantVideos I didn’t realize you replied I’m sorry make a new video on this game they just made a remaster of this game I redownloaded it it’s pretty good
@@double8261 I would if I had more time man, unfortunately I'm lucky especially with my view rate if I can get a video out a week when I'm on a roll. Little help and support really has the channel struggling.
I loved playing latale I still have my old picture from it as my profile picture on youtube. I made tons of friends a long time ago from like 2010 - 2015 I kept playing because I loved mostly talking to friends I also loved being a merchant and by taking a market approach to the game. I did end up leveling but I mainly played to meet people and get more social LOL It was like getting away from the horrible life at highschool hahaha but yeah. I was so sad when they switched to the new company because I legit spent like 1000$ throughout 5-6 years and then I also had like 8bill and tons of sets and pets I kept and event items UGH I quit because they never gave anything for those items...
La tale was so great while I played ms, it was more lively in the way characters move and act and felt it was ahead of it's time being that at the time. The downside was the controls and even the lvling was more of a issue than maplestory was. wanting to be an new class (lvl 70?) will take you weeks and even months to achieve that. While in ms it was just lvl 30. It was fun playing with my friends and I will also never forget rumble fighter cuz rumble fighter was really a wasted potential that couldve been a timeless game till this day. Sadly the developers didnt and will never care. Now that also maplestory 2 is gone in global, which make sense.. cuz the only thing that can make you lvl up is doing the same repetitive quests you have to do while in maplestory1, you were free to do what u want. Great nostalgic times, the games i play now are league of legends, R6, monster hunter. While mmorpg is fading in the west cuz also with the large population of battle royal, anime rpg seems more becoming the trend in the west like kurtzpel and soon blue protocol which I will play the beta soon in april 26. These latale ost are such a banger,, even bit better than maplestory. time to relisten those I rest my case 🙏
I remember seeing the article for Maplestory 2 shutting down, it was like a wave went over me and I realized that MMORPGs are just struggling so hard right now (in addition to mistakes they make). Back when I was a kid it just felt like so many games came out and devs were willing to make whatever mmorpg and if it was successful then cool, but unsuccessful ones like LaTale still stick it out. I miss Wonderking and WindRunner...oh well
@@VagrantVideos honestly! & it would crash on me all the time for such a low spec game...but still the game was beautiful. that was the good old days. one of the best years of my life lol.
Devon Swingler man I need to see if private servers exist for that game, or Windrunner. Can’t wait to start covering stuff like that on the channel. Just need time
Ya you cant beat la tale in the OST department for MMOs, Hot Blood, Bird Against the Storm. If people heard that they would be like "Yo this music makes me wanna play LaTale
i loved latale it was my favorite game way back in the day, so much potential but it was so depressing cuz i wud try to get stronger but always feel like ill nvr be strong enough. i would end up quitting a lot then come back months later or a year later to try again. i recently tried again in the summer got lv200 easy.. but after that it was so hard to lvl. the game is not populated so im always solo trying to lvl up but i cudnt do anything w.o getting help from stronger players so ill sit around all day waiting for help. it wasnt even fun.. im lv220 and i cant do anything but wait for others to help me n i just end up leaving again. maybe they shud make the dungeons easy enough to solo so players can just enjoy themself and slowly grind to end game. they can keep the end game dungeon normal so u have to be it with a party.
What hurt this game was its huge grind and no solid way to enjoy it without pot spamming and or questing till you run out and stuck pot spamming. They should of stuck to dungeon lvling like most rpgs and find a way to make super dungeon for clans and all.
Hello! Finally stumbled on this video. Thank you for the shoutout. Very accurate and through research. This video is really well put together. Subscribed. The game is pretty much dead sadly, I hope one day it gets the recognition it deserves, the PVP on this game is amazing, the mechanics are also very customizable and it has a lot of room to improve in terms of how the game is coded. The game in its current form is heavily pay to win, Scripts video pretty much goes over everything and says how most dedicated players feel about the game. My conclusion is that the corporation itself killed the game. This version of the game is just a cash grab by Actoz. OGP went under and Papaya are just the same people that ran it to the ground, re-branded. If a truely free to play version gets released, something along the lines of Maplestory:Reboot, it will be very successful. The issue is that the game was designed for a korean population where their culture is that if they like a game, they will throw money on it. The western market is completely different, we don't whale as hard on a game or dedicate massive amounts of hours to it (which the game requires to become good). To be successful in this current version, you must whale AND play for very long hours. A new version that allows you to casually play, and still be successful and spend money here and there will be exponentially more successful. But Papaya will not listen to its players, and even if they do, they cannot do anything about it because Actoz does not listen to us anyways. So RIP La Tale. It was an awesome 11 years. Thank you for growing up with me. Peace.
It’s such a shame, the game really could have been the biggest competitor to MapleStory and they would be fighting to one up eachother which would be great for us as players but sadly that never happened
I wasn't such a gamer on the game when I first started, I was more of a talker and was a weak warrior class LOL. But even so, I had a lot of fun ^^. I do believe that papaya games allowed us to actually save our characters. Sadly I just never had the chance and my character [which was iRoll] was gone. :c People would make so many puns about my name LOL.
maybe it's just me but i wasnt really a fan of skipping straight to high level or leveling up so easily so it kinda turned me off but nevertheless sometimes i return to this game because it's fun and i got nothing else to do :')
i remember playing latale when i was a kid in childschool, so i downloaded it recently, just to experience my childhood once more, it feel pretty much the same, but i have a feeling that i won't play it for long. it gets a little bit boring, i hit lv 50 or 100 in 2 days and now the story/ challenges feels all grindy or just straight boring
I don't believe the game is dead. I consider a game dead if a company stops maintenance and updates on said game, likely because they don't find it profitable anymore. Although, as can be seen, Papaya LaTale is still up and running and regularly updating. It's simply not that popular in the western region. This isn't uncommon for Chinese-Korean games though. LaTale is doing moderately well in southeastern Asia, enough so as to support their other servers in the west. Most likely, part of the bad reception of LaTale is because Chinese-Korean games often feel like a chore, as they are meant to (somewhat). They're mostly played as a kind of hobby to invest time and money into when there's not much else to do in southeastern asian countries, which isn't an interesting model in the west, and that appeal typically reflects their popularity. In other words, the popularity of LaTale is more due to a culture shock than any practical game issues. This could be applied to first-person shooting games (besides arguably Call of Duty) in Japan or mobile games in the U.K.
I’m not so sure, remember this game came out on the coat tails of MapleStory. Release date during a time when MapleStory was still incredibly popular in the west AND East. LaTale I feel deserves a lot more popularity than what it has, it’s such a charming game and most people that play MMORPGs KNOW that it’s a time sink, they play because they enjoy the game and how it plays.
I played this game from closed beta up until 2012, loved the cute art style, emotes and skill animations. Right from the get-go there was some obvious flaws with the game and player knew quickly. Ping and the enhancement system, these two factors alone drove me away from the game. Oh yeah the food buffs, pet buffs, all that crazy stuff got out of control as well, so much p2w cash items introduced later on, made the game very hard to keep up with.
Lemme give you an update since I started playing this game two weeks ago. Also hello Vagrant. First time here. Latale is most definitely, very much of a grind fest. It feels like Warframe at this point but its Latale instead. Have you ever played Warframe? That game's absolutely free to play and even if you did pay, you wouldn't go far, you'd probably get more currency grinding their Platinum (real life money currency) rather than buying it due to the Money to Platinum ratio. But yeah, complete and utter grindfest. Somewhat similar to BDO nowadays to be honest. But that's one game I've never played. I just know what people complain about and it's mostly stuff you gotta swipe your card for if you don't want it to be over the top tideous. When it comes to leveling, a lot of people complain about how slow it is and how tedious it is. Well? From 0 to 200 all you have to do is grind one thing. Monster Tower. I'm playing during burning event so I'm not 100% sure if the game gives you EXP Buffs pots as you level but I think it does. Dunno, I've opened so many packages at this point that I don't keep track of their content. But any way. Past 200, you otta do quests. It can either take you days, about a week, maybe two weeks and you'll hit Ascension at 235 where you start grinding levels from 0 to 9999. At that point, you get dungeons that are on rinse and repeat 24/7 until you hit 500 then until you hit 1000 and then until you hit 1500 and then you're out of content. For the rest, you gotta grind the same dungeons over and over (which have limited entries by the way) for you to get materials for gear and what not. So at that point, LaTale becomes like a daily work out for someone who hasn't worked out in a long time. Annoying and requires discipline. If you wanna progress, you gotta farm mats. But there's another issue. Those dungeons? That you get past ascension 1 to 500? Good luck doing them alone. *This is a major factor of the game that people forget about but, LaTale is an MMORPG and people are complaining about not being able to do stuff solo. Well, its an MMORPG (MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE), you know, you're not supposed to do it " ALONE. " Find yourself a guild and ask for help. Nowadays there's active players and people who are willing to help you and they will run those same dungeons with you and carry you on a harder difficulty, mainly because they need the materials for themselves and you need the EXP from the mobs and the Daily Quests that you have to do all the time. Besides that, Ely farming is also a thing. There's a couple of dungeons you need to do to get Ely and they are limited too. And if you want more Ely, you have to enchant or buy from the Market gear that has Ely Gain Rate to increase the amount you get per kill. But if you make alts on the Wind Stalker class that has Ely Gain Rate passively in the skill tree about 3 times + buff included and then gear up at about 800-1000 ely gain rate flat with out buffs, you'll be able to get yourself everything you need by spending about 2-3 ours daily on all characters after about 2-3 months. Or at least, not get everything but get a lot of useful things. That includes LTC. LTC (Latale Cash) has a ratio of 1:850k to 1:1mil so essentially, since there are people who are still obsessed with the game, mostly Americans that could be paying their student loan debt and rent, they throw all the stuff into LTC that then they sell for Ely and keep the market running. So you can get basically everything, in the game, for FREE but with grind. And *NOT* SOLO Grind but with *OTHERS* as well. Cause if you're a shy antisocial introverted person with social anxiety, literally, just don't play LaTale, you'll have to interact with people to get far. If you find people who are willing to put the same amount of time and effort and patience into this game as you do if not more, if you find people who are high enough level to teach you the roots and help you out, you'll love the game for as long as you don't rush yourself, don't treat it as an actual job, focus on having fun with your company and not entirely with only the game content itself and reach gear and fashion goals and then potentially help someone else out the same way as well and continue the saga until you decide to quit. Or until they get better servers, better publishers that actually work with the Korean Latale and don't release content 10 months later and maybe even give us tools and means to do custom stuff to be implemented into the game afterwards as well. AND MAYBE EVEN A GOD DAMNED EU SERVER FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE EU/AFRICA/ASIA AND NOT JUST EAST OR WEST COAST.
Holy crap SORRY, youtube hid your comment as spam for some reason, anyways! Welcome to the channel. Sheesh sounds like modern day MapleStory now, a shell of what it used to be. I wish LaTale stuck to their hardcore leveling experience where people stuck together in the leveling grind during early levels. Now its all end game...shame.
Man oh man, this freaking game. I think the major problem with it is just purely....the difficulty. Basically lvl 1-200 is the tutorial and after that it almost feels like a new game because of how absurdly hard the dungeons can get. Which, for new players can be a little disheartening since in my honest opinion, you're not suppose to be able to solo every dungeon by yourself. The game is VERY party reliant, however the truth is, most higher end players want everything for themselves and never give out a helping hand to anyone who actually needs what's in the dungeons chest. There are some good souls in that game though, don't get me wrong. I think if LaTale were to give newer players the best gear til at least 220. Then perhaps we would have more players who would actually wanna stay. It's truly a damn shame with what's happened to LaTale over the years, as this is purely a nostalgic game for me. I miss what it was, and I wish I could have it all back. Been playing for 12 years by the way and letting go of this game has always been the hardest thing for me to do.
Seems like a lot of games want you at a high level and then the “game” starts lol Maple is the same way. Oddly enough LaTale private servers have started popping up
If La Tale is still getting updates I guess its alive but with numbers that low there's no way it could still pay for itself without some insane whales. Though I'm sure the server costs for a game like this are super cheap
Check out LaTale on Steam or here! latale.papayaplay.com/latale.do

I’m very happy for you 😄
Anyways thanks for watching I’m glad to bring out the nostalgia in you.
Aw thats awesome lol
I recently tried the game but the combat feels kind of clunky. Im not sure If im interested.
what was your ign? i might know you back then, we might be guildie
Fuck Jay Yeah, we talked for a few years and decided it was what we wanted to do
kinoki aranongas Searos was probably my biggest one.
It’s very much like MapleStory to me. All the good memories and friends I still wish I could talk to

I used to play this game with my brother all the time when we were younger, good times.
If I ever become a full time youtuber id like to have guilds in each game I cover on Dead or Alive. Play with the veterans if you know what I mean
Wow thank you so much!! I actually just redownloaded Maplestory again after my dead or alive on that video too. Trying to hard to like it
OGPlanet LaTale was basically what made me a gamer, but I wasn't able to play the game for years... I'm sad to see that after all this time, it's not doing so good
It needs a lot of love right now
I am so happy I found your channel. I've just been binge-watching all your past videos. I really love this series :)
Thanks I really appreciate it :)
Thanks man, and wow dang that’s crazy to see someone still playing after so long, wish I had a similar experienece
Yeah the old community is pretty much gone... it's really sad to see what the game has come to :(
roycantpvp well if I ever get a large audience one day maybe I can give the LazyPeon effect and bring lots of new players to small games like this just because of a video
The computer I had back in the day, couldn't play a lot of games.
This was one of those, I badly wanted more games like Maplestory back then
There was only one Maplestory clone I couldn’t play and it only lasted a few months from what I remember
WonderKing?
@@SuperChaos777 omg Wonderking, that's one that didn't work on my computer :'(
Wonderking came Out before maple and Its 10 Times better than Maple !!
Gosh man that sounds so fun, grinds like that, that force you to make life long friends just don’t exist anymore
Maaaaan, this brings back great times. I remember how excited I would be to grind through EXP potions with the friends I've met from questing. Nothing hit my nostalgia as hard as LaTale's in game music too one I heard it.
The music is so good
OG planet, haven’t heard that name in years.
Literally didn’t even know they went defunct in 2017 lol
I really hope Latale become veeeeeeeery popular game..........please God.......
Pray harder dammit. Maybe if all 80 of us players pray....😂
Nah seriously it does deserve some love.
I’ve had pure bliss playing this game and I miss the memories I grew fond of
Once the game reset, I wanted to believe that it was back and this time I could enjoy the game I wanted to have with my friends but so many times did that game make me want to drop it
You feel so staggered trying to grind up the needed love that was required to be put in the game to even get good
And even then it wasnt enough as no matter where I fought or who I fought with there was that empty heartedness of the game telling me to go play something else if I didn’t inject money into it
But feel pure hate as soon as the game sees you grind
Every once in a day I wanna go back and live the dream of running dungeons with my guild again and trying my hand at making what gear I got to be better but then the desolation of how it feels to be so empty fighting a fight you just can’t win
I’m surprised there’s no old school servers for LaTale, then again it’s just not popular. I wonder what the game would truly have to do to climb and get people playing
Vagrant I thought about it really
I would set it so that way raid bosses would do less Dmg and allow players to get 10%-20% per kill and set it so you can only get drops and xp from like 20
Of them and then after wards only get drops
That way your not alienating the high levels
Playing latale is like dating someone that’s super hot but loses attraction to you and starts cheating after after you get to a certain point
Vagrant it just needs a better reward system and make it so that way when your grinding your not spending 20$ on 12%
i feel you.
Used to play this along with Maplestory and Ragnarok. Not sure if you have played Ragnarok Online before, but would love an Alive or Dead video on that MMO. Great video as always!
Thanks! I actually never played Ragnorak. I always wanted to as a kid though
It is very dead, downloaded it couple of weeks ago to play it for nostalgia but all the places are empty, no one in belos and 2-3 players in elias, I doubt it will exlpode in popularity again, I just hope for a new side scrolling mmorpg, they were so fun and you are damn right with the soundtrack of the game being 10/10, so many amazing songs that I even listen to this day
So a private server sprung up for this game not too long ago I may have to check it out
Yeah, this game would be 10x better even if they had like 500 more players.. but like right now its 100~150... it's legit officially dead
@@VagrantVideos we played those private servers befor the 4th job updates back in the day, even the private servers stopped existing around 4th jobs.

well the relaunch destroy the game. People spent thousand of cash in this game to pets, rune, costum, darts etc etc.
I would do anything to relive that era of when 2D MMOs was at its peak
I have so much nostalgia from playing this game in early high school. The music in this game is really great. I spent years playing this game starting in ‘08. Every now and then I log in but it’s simply not the same. It used to be so alive and now it just feels hollow. I really wish I could go back in time and replay this game at its peak.

I met both of my best friends on LaTale 10 years ago and we still talk daily to this day. I also occasionally talk to a few of my other friends.
MMORPGs have a great platform to meet people
some of the best friends i have now i meet on latale, started playing it agaion a week ago just cuz i always wanted to reach max level with my templer but now the class feels a bit different from what it was before.
latale is dying imo but nothing good lasts forever..... played in the beta... game will always have a place in my heart
I used to love the game, but after ogplanet died it has become unplayable in germany...
100 ping at best and horrible lag spikes:(
I used to play this game all Day everyday, it makes me so sad that I can no longer play it...
One thing i miss is the old equipment and how you'd have to travel to the mine to get minerals to upgrade the gear to the next level. When you join now you can get a box of gear that basically make you unkillable all the way to like level 120. I went to a level 80 area as 60 and barely got destroyed
LaTale went the way of MapleStory. Very easy combat until end game.
@@fangz4ever225 same. Someday soon I plan to do another video on LaTale. It’s a very nostalgic game for me during the college years.
Holy shit, you actually respond to all comments. I am honestly astonished, deserve a sub tbheh. Underrated channel but good production quality.
Thank you! I appreciate the support and ya I enjoy looking through my comments lol
@@VagrantVideos Hey, alright. I'm looking forward to it!
Grew up on this game since around 08-09, I use the soundtracks in my videos to this day. Long live la tale
Anyone else randomly search Latale because it popped in your head due to nostalgia
Belos was a solid track and chill spot
RIP OGPlanet LaTale ~ I miss that game I played it a ton from 2008-2012ish had to quit because the server moved and just got bored of it. Back when 200 was max level and engineer was the only extra class and I played a little of soul breaker. People would grind coliseum all day lol. And then paying to win became more of a thing.
I was also the #1 PvP bard
It’s really unfortunate if there was passion behind the game it would be up there with Maplestory
When the server moved IT definitely lost a lot of people but people here on the west coast were very happy Lol.
What was your name I might remember.
They tried to make it new player friendly, but its far too late... 3 years after launch.
@@roycantpvp is it closed?
Holy crap. I never thought I'd see this game again. I remember playing this when I got bored of maplestory. Never made it very far though
It’s still around if you want to give it a try lol.
Same. I was looking for other games similar to MapleStory so I tried LaTale
This video hit me with a large wave of nostalgia to a point where i almost cried thanks
sadly the game feels like instead of dying its just straight up dead I'm not even sure why i still even play
Play the game if you enjoy it, don’t give it up just because it’s not popular I play tons of “dead” games
Pelican Spaghetti i felt this
I've played this game a crapton when it came out.
Wanted to pick up OGP LaTale again after Aeria shut down the game, but unfortunately the person I allowed to use my OGP character for farming purposes had sold off/deleted everything I had there :(
I picked the game up again on Papaya a few days ago and started a new character.
Shame.
Anyone from Pulse guild from the original OGP release? Love this game, miss those days
I never played that game but I've gotta say Latale have the best OST of all games of all time
So many bangers
i always had fun playing this game. feels nostalgic to look at it but it still makes me smile :)
What made you quit? I loved it when it first hit the scene
@@VagrantVideos as you said over time it was only less and less people and that game was based on the party play. I remember sitting under that Hynmu
portal for ages waiting for someone to help. After many updates the ones who was still playing the game was the ones who could solo everything without any intentions of helping others with quests. Thats all i guess. but it was the best mmo ive ever played
Maginpanic damn...do you play anything nowadays?
@@VagrantVideos i dont remember when i was logged in the last time. probably over 3 years ago. dont know if my account still exists :D
ive loved this game all my life been playing since og planets 1 year anniversary and been coming back on and off for years
i have a ton of fond memories of the time and the struggles it took back in the day
i still remember a few of the more known players like Lady (savior) and Teddyz (bard)
the guild i was in was multiplier so if anyone back in the og planet days that was in that guild would love to catch up again
also dont forget that there was a couples and marraige system still in the game but i doubt anyone even uses that
and what about all the hype when they took out the ladeck system
i even remember the name of the main character i used (monkeycheese) idk the lvl but ik i made it to gunslinger before the papaya switch
Yeah unfortunately its hard to keep friends together playing the same game
Ah nostalgia bomb... I spent hours on this game. Started back in 2008 and literally played it till 2018... I was Jno/MikeyJr/Zomi... I miss my characters:(
I miss the old school pvp too. Back on the days the pvp arena was always full. I'd like to visit it soon
There’s a LaTale private server apparently that is relatively new
holy such a hidden gem of a channel
😤😤 Ty I put in work when I can! Just need that break to come through anytime now.
I started during the beta and by far the biggest complaint people had was lag. I didn't have issues with it except rarely when the server was having issues, but so many people had unplayable lag when i was running smoothly, it was weird.
Yeah, plus lag is server side instead of client side so when it’s bad it’s REALLY bad
I hope LT becomes popular again someday too and re talk to my old buddies on there for old time’s sake heh ^^
I’d love for it to go back to the old style leveling though much like the argument I made in Maplestory!
Vagrant it’s kinda rip when ppl kept mentioning how LT is like maple story LOL... however some ppl didn’t like s2 or s3 regardless I love it and still play time to time thanks for this vid rlly insightful!
Luna Mage I’m glad you enjoyed it! I hope to make more in the fire obviously lol
I used to be “coolskater” lv 159 bladeslinger (judgement) i recently logged back in after years to relive my childhood just to find out i had to start all over again. Pretty sad tbh.
Damn you are a veteran man....sad to see you had to start over.

12:24 lol that Script guy sounds so disappointed. LaTale, rest in peace. Another great video!
I wouldn’t be surprised if he watches this at some point
I found my old hard drive and decided to go though it I found this game and it legit brought a tear to my eye. I don't care I'm gonna play this again. My teenage years.
That was MapleStory for me with LaTale a little bit in there too
@@VagrantVideos Once I get a computer again I'm definitely going try this game out again.
Man, I started playing a few years ago and I recall login in everyday on summer vacation, played it for hours and got to level 150 or something... The main problem with it is really the details, also it's kinda broken in terms of difficulty, you can just spam potions they give for free and you don't lose lol
But yeah, I might still play it one of these days... I hope more people do, I hate seeing good mmos being shut down, been there already...
What game shut down on you?
@@VagrantVideos Shin Megami Tensei Imagine... I'm a pretty big smt fan and at the time didn't have the time to really get deep into it... The good news is that a good private server is being worked on and already has a pretty decent community formed behind it, so when the server is ready to go I'll be sure to be there!
Grey Man oh ya! I thought about doing a video on ReImagine the ps
I played LaTale from 2006~2010/11. I'm downloading it again as of writing this.
Well damn with all the players in the comment section alone we could make a guild
@@VagrantVideos That would be something, I'd be down for that :o
My old characters does not exist anymore.
That would be amazing!
great video sir!
The game at it's highest level is a big time consumer and big gamble in general.
Thank you! I appreciate the comment, like I said it’s a shame the game deserves some spotlight and a chance to be better
I feel so left out bc and of all these nostalgic comments left here, I’ve never even heard of Latale or Maplestory. My childhood was club penguin lol.
Also I’m sorry to all the people who miss this game and hope the best and remember that our childhoods are the best parts of our lives.
I never played club penguin but I feel like its similar to Neopets or Gaia Online. Two other sites that were awesome in their day
My guy, another great video.
Man love this game played in 2008 when it first came around.. great times great friends memories... Elias palace favorite best track in game.. sit on the bench all day after a hard grind .. Leveling up was actually fun back in the day a challenge.. and you actually went out and saw the world of latale.. and not like now a days where you have 1 or 2 specific spots of main lvl.. actually grinding in the mountains black bears, going to the pyramids and fighting skleletons lol then the beach with the crabs and so on it was great
This game got really close in terms of MapleStory feeing and polish. Such a missed opportunity
latale mountain area music
God I was live streaming and some of the people in chat absolutely loved the OST for Latale. Such a good sound track
@@VagrantVideos haha , yea i love that OST it gives me good memories
Ahhh, I remember being a minor celebrity in LaTale, because of my series The Quest for 1 Billion Ely. I'm actually thinking about making a new series, "Revisiting LaTale as a Veteran Player".
Any sort of content on RUclips will buzz up the game so I say go for it
hi! i see you in game
Korean servers are still active to this day
One factor that i think latale lacked was how useless guilds are despite this being an MMORPG which revolves around player interactions.
Higher guild level = monsters that give crazy XP
Guild quests that can only be completed when you do it together with guild mates.
Also the main reason why i frequently quit/take a break from latale throughout all these years of playing is how unrewarding quests are when you're level 180+. You kill like 120 monsters and the quests give you like 0.1% XP. It was a major turn off for me.
Yeah the only reason to really jpin guilds is the bump in stats they give but other than that it’s basically a little friend group
Is there ability gating like in metroid or zelda? Do you gain new movement abilities that let you explore further?
No not really, back when the game was newer it had some movement unlocks to make your character more nimble but no areas were gated off,
I came back to find this video for nostalgia’s sake.
I hated MapleStory and LaTale’s enhancement system, so RNG and the booming pissed me off
I've been playing this game since 2009, I have SO much nostalgia connected to it, so I don't think I'll ever completely stop playing it, but it definitely does not have the same entertainment value as it used to..
Especially since I lost years (and like £60-£100) worth of memories, fashion, emotes ect. from the OGP-Papaya switch
I still have a very good friend I met on LT about 3-4 years ago
Edit: Does anyone have any other game rec that are similar to latale?
MapleStory and Ghost Online are the only two I’m afraid
There was wind slayer from our spark but it got shut down
When I played back 2008 to 2011 I found this game vastly superior to Maple Story as I was very competitive in PVP.
LaTale deserves a much better situation than what it’s in now. Losing its charm it just never stood a chance
Baby Vaso exactly!! It should have stayed a hardcore social experience
I remember people would use their server/channel mics and look for people to do bosses with
damn nostalgia lol
i used to play on the ogp server for about 2 yrs when i switched to a private server, gamespirate (if anyone knows it), where i continued for about 3-4 years

GP latale was the shit, so many players :(
Everyone plays this because of the relationships they made, im an 08 beta player originally named questionmark.
I met my first girlfriend and made friends from all around the world.
I met one of my best relationships on MapleStory so I can relate man
childhood game with my two little sisters, was the best
Early LaTale was pretty darn special
I THINK Papaya games allowed us to kinda save our OGPlanet characters [if you can call it that] and actually upload it somehow to papaya? But yeah that was definitely a kick to them.
I would hope so, to ask a small player base to start all over definitely hurt and I see you are a man of culture as well (the ost comment)
I’m sure there is a few but I haven’t checked out the PS scene

Played latale a ton before it all went downhill. The game really fell fast after the gemcrafting update and map rearrangement. Before the world map was varied, with high level areas mixed with low and hidden places that made exploration fun. Now it's just a grinding wheel where you skip up to level 200 in an instant to get you to have to start spending astros to progress effectivly. You know what made Latale fun? sitting down and chatting while grinding in spooky, not opening lootboxes and using 1000 pet buffs to burn raid bosses in 2 seconds three times a day.
Yes!!!! Spooky village was the spot!!
Games are always better with friends who is tryna get on latale right now I miss the hell out of this gane

Never compensated those who were loyal to the game, that’s a shame.
I remember this game...been so long since I've played.
This game and mabinogi is my youth..........
Stick around I plan to cover Mabinogi at some point.
These latale ost are such a banger,, even bit better than maplestory. time to relisten those
I rest my case 🙏
I remember seeing the article for Maplestory 2 shutting down, it was like a wave went over me and I realized that MMORPGs are just struggling so hard right now (in addition to mistakes they make).
Back when I was a kid it just felt like so many games came out and devs were willing to make whatever mmorpg and if it was successful then cool, but unsuccessful ones like LaTale still stick it out.
I miss Wonderking and WindRunner...oh well
I know this game only from the great music. Now I need to know the game.

i love maplestory, i played this game too. i also played "WonderKing" it was like GMS but prettier? idk.
Man I miss WonderKing. It needed a publisher who actually cared about it to work which is why it shut down in like only a year
@@VagrantVideos honestly! & it would crash on me all the time for such a low spec game...but still the game was beautiful. that was the good old days. one of the best years of my life lol.
Devon Swingler man I need to see if private servers exist for that game, or Windrunner. Can’t wait to start covering stuff like that on the channel. Just need time
its a really good 2D game. At least i think it was better than maplestory back in the day.
I’m going to ironically be covering the last 2D platforming mmo besides LaTale and Maple in the next week or so. Soul Saver aka Ghost Online.
Ya you cant beat la tale in the OST department for MMOs, Hot Blood, Bird Against the Storm. If people heard that they would be like "Yo this music makes me wanna play LaTale
Legit it needs to be in the top 100 osts of all time
The game really does seem interesting
It used to be...
i loved latale it was my favorite game way back in the day, so much potential but it was so depressing cuz i wud try to get stronger but always feel like ill nvr be strong enough. i would end up quitting a lot then come back months later or a year later to try again. i recently tried again in the summer got lv200 easy.. but after that it was so hard to lvl. the game is not populated so im always solo trying to lvl up but i cudnt do anything w.o getting help from stronger players so ill sit around all day waiting for help. it wasnt even fun.. im lv220 and i cant do anything but wait for others to help me n i just end up leaving again. maybe they shud make the dungeons easy enough to solo so players can just enjoy themself and slowly grind to end game. they can keep the end game dungeon normal so u have to be it with a party.
Making the game easier just doesn’t make sense, back when it was hard to level at least you would find players around to help you.
is fun to play, when ya got nothing else to do and want to relieve stress by performing fancy skills
And do loads of damage for free lol
What hurt this game was its huge grind and no solid way to enjoy it without pot spamming and or questing till you run out and stuck pot spamming. They should of stuck to dungeon lvling like most rpgs and find a way to make super dungeon for clans and all.
I kinda miss the quests and the difficult leveling though but that’s just me
People would make so many puns about my name LOL.
maybe it's just me but i wasnt really a fan of skipping straight to high level or leveling up so easily so it kinda turned me off but nevertheless sometimes i return to this game because it's fun and i got nothing else to do :')
I wish it still had the old leveling pace. Maple could have been the easy platformer while LaTale kept the hardcore leveling but they chased Maple
i remember playing latale when i was a kid in childschool, so i downloaded it recently, just to experience my childhood once more, it feel pretty much the same, but i have a feeling that i won't play it for long. it gets a little bit boring, i hit lv 50 or 100 in 2 days and now the story/ challenges feels all grindy or just straight boring
if only they fixed the latency/high ping. Would love to play this again. Graphic wise is still good.
They need better server
How fix lag?
It’s funny, back in the day cash shop clothes gave stats, now it’s pets that do
Lemme give you an update since I started playing this game two weeks ago.
I bet the fan base is huge but everyone quit since 2008. The only people who log on now are people who are going through memories.
Nostalgia is super powerful
12:30 thought it was my discord going off. im like df who texting me.
Lol ya it was his video
That and development but who really knows since companies never share that sort of data with us
