Playing Maple back in 2005-2007 was amazing. Makes me wanna cry thinking about the memories, the friends, late nights trying to level, spending dumb amounts of real money at the cash shop.
Am I the only one who didn't bother leveling and went exploring. I was around level 15 back then and I would find myself in places with level 60+ monsters. I remember being so fucking stoked if I saw a new monster. lol
I was like level 18 when I remember getting stuck in El Nath accidently after I died on one of the levels in Orbis tower-- the ice and the high level monsters kept killing me before I could reach the tower's portal and I was so frustrated! Had to beg for help on ch 1 for someone to guide me to Aqua road (Where I was exploring).
Dude. I never got passed level 22 as my thief. I would use the Dark body skill and just slip passed all the enemies. I'd roam around the world and just adventure with my buddies who were level 70 and up. It was honestly fun. I mean yeah I wish I could've mobbed up with them but the whole aspect of exploring was what got me.
Man, this sucks. I miss having a green suit on at the start of a new character and going through the treadmills and seeing all the classes to pick from. :)
I can't wait to go back to that time once MapleGlobal is released. I never played before 2008 so being able to play back in 2005 maple should be lots of fun. :>
We're all aware of how maple has affected our lives.. We can't bring back what we missed. We have enjoyed every moment of Pre - BB and all of our memories with friends, the community, and the game itself. Maple has really affected my life because I remembered how I Cried everytime I lagged on my really old PC (I was really young back then, now i'm 19 years old) but now this game has gotten boring but somehow I still enjoy it. This is coming from someone who started out in the Beta and still plays today. This video was amazing, simply amazing. You had the perfect songs, the perfect clips, everything was amazing. I made a level 200 pre big bang, I had all the experiences imaginable, made like 5 chars that capped 50m every line now, and its simply boring, my NL caps 100%, I solo chaos vellum like it used to be mushmom, its just sad now. Ya we had a better imagination and enjoyed things easier. I miss the social aspect though where everyone was friends and they would hang out at henesys.
What I hated the most about big bang was the fact that they completely changed the maps. They took out a ton of maps and simplified it by making you travel less didtance. But this ruined the sense of immersion. Before big bang you had to fight your way across the map just to go from Henesys to SleepyWood. That was really fun. The original layout wins. Remember the Golem pit between Henesys and Sleepywood? Being a low lv noob and falling down was a death sentence. The second thing they did wrong was make it too easy to level up. When BB first released the XP rates were perfect. They lowered it just enough. It wasnt as grindy but not too easy. The only thing bigbang did that ruined maple was changing the original maps. It was several years after bigbang that they really started to make leveling way too easy. If they had kept the original maps and map layout and just add ontop of it everything would have been perfect. The 3rd thing they did wrong was add too many usless classes. It should have stopped after DualBlade. Instead of adding more content they just added more classes. Resistance classes made hacking too easy. BattleMages and WildHunters were hacking like crazy for years. YEARS!

Since Nexon is a shit company that is probably not gonna happen. But you could get MapleRoyals. It's a private server that runs a pre-big bang version of the game from like 2007 or so if i remember correctly. It's pretty active too. Go for it.
I think Nexon is shit not solely because they're greedy, but mainly because they're stupid and don't know how to make a profit based on the demands of their dedicated players and fans. I'm definitely for the idea of bringing back pre-BB Maple, but Nexon probably isn't good enough for that. At least Jagex did justice. Although RS isn't rly my kind of game, I had fun playing it with friends, and I can still experience most of those memories (pretty much all except the huge player base).

I really do miss everything about the maplestory all the grounds that people used to hangout at like the potion shop and everyone wanted to talk to eachother no one was ignored and everyone would grind the game as hard as possible. I've played the game since the begining and i cant believe how sad the fact that its a pay to win game now.
Man, I'm shot right in the feels. I remember I made my first character before 2009, played till lvl56 at Shanghai farm area, then quit at around the time Big Bang came by. In 2012, I decided to log back into my account and I found out that I've been hacked. I was quite sad because I spent loads of time and effort into training my assassin. I miss the times where people even bothered to chat and that almost every channel would be filled with people. It was hard to believe that one patch could ruin the entire game. Bravo, Nexon.
Honestly, for some reason, what I miss the most by far was doing cpq and kpq with friends. I was like 7 when I started playing so this game kind of shaped who I am
Basically my partial nostalgia lasted from 2008-2009 then skipped to 2011 and received Big Bang, it made me break free from getting my Evan to be the only one at 2nd job at level 43 while others get stuck at freakin' 1st Job. Keep in mind too that my MS version is MSSea so I get thing way~ late here. Also due to how sometimes trying to get the game to update made me cry and even got a fever (3 days after the launch of Von Leon patch) cause of how I can't seem to download or install the game right every single time, and with an internet speed of 100-200kbps, I was and am lost... But it will always be something in part of my hearts, forever the game I devoted thousands of hours and lots of money on.

Before Big Bang, MapleStory was one of the most charming games of it's time. With the endless customization, and the cutsie and social aspects of the game, it was hard not to love it. But that doesn't mean the modern MapleStory is "garbage" or "destroyed". The new MapleStory has infinitely more content to offer. There's dozens of classes, an awesome and interesting storyline (which MapleStory didn't have much of before), and it's still as social as ever. A lot of people say it's ruined now that it's so easy to level, but I like to actually know in my mind that it's possible to hit max level, while back then, it only seemed like a dream. I'll never forget the old MapleStory, and I'll cherish the memories of it forever, but out with the old, and in with the new.

For example, every week I have about 3-4 weekly bosses I have to run with friends and it is something I can look forward to because it is fun. But to reach that point in the game though .. Dam man, i remember when aran came out, there was this event when you got to level 10, you choose one of two scrolls, it was magic attack and weapon attk pink scrolls. I just started collecting like literally 200 weapon attack scrolls from it and when the event was over, man that freaking scroll was worth like 20m made tons of money off it!
I was out of the game for quite a while before Aran, the came back at that time. I bought out my server of Maple Pole Arms thinking they would be HUGE! only to find they were being given away in a quest for Arans. RIP mesos

Ant Legend have been playing it for around 2 months 0 problems at the moment.
I think Nexon is shit not solely because they're greedy, but mainly because they're stupid and don't know how to make a profit based on the demands of their dedicated players and fans. I'm definitely for the idea of bringing back pre-BB Maple, but Nexon probably isn't good enough for that.
At least Jagex did justice. Although RS isn't rly my kind of game, I had fun playing it with friends, and I can still experience most of those memories (pretty much all except the huge player base).

Man, I'm shot right in the feels. I remember I made my first character before 2009, played till lvl56 at Shanghai farm area, then quit at around the time Big Bang came by.
In 2012, I decided to log back into my account and I found out that I've been hacked. I was quite sad because I spent loads of time and effort into training my assassin. I miss the times where people even bothered to chat and that almost every channel would be filled with people.
It was hard to believe that one patch could ruin the entire game. Bravo, Nexon.

I remember training there from 45-50 on Sakuras. I saved up and got my first pair of Steele’s that time. Spent 4.5m, I was super stoked.

Basically my partial nostalgia lasted from 2008-2009 then skipped to 2011 and received Big Bang, it made me break free from getting my Evan to be the only one at 2nd job at level 43 while others get stuck at freakin' 1st Job. Keep in mind too that my MS version is MSSea so I get thing way~ late here. Also due to how sometimes trying to get the game to update made me cry and even got a fever (3 days after the launch of Von Leon patch) cause of how I can't seem to download or install the game right every single time, and with an internet speed of 100-200kbps, I was and am lost... But it will always be something in part of my hearts, forever the game I devoted thousands of hours and lots of money on.

i remember running ludi maze pq a lot during the summer of 2008 in bera and later that year training at straw dummies in mulung - that place was super popular to train at back then. i remember playing a ton during the magatia release, and later on being fascinated watching temple of time / pink bean videos at the time and not having a clue what was happening or much about the boss at all. there was a bit of mystery to it for me. good times

Before Big Bang, MapleStory was one of the most charming games of it's time. With the endless customization, and the cutsie and social aspects of the game, it was hard not to love it. But that doesn't mean the modern MapleStory is "garbage" or "destroyed". The new MapleStory has infinitely more content to offer. There's dozens of classes, an awesome and interesting storyline (which MapleStory didn't have much of before), and it's still as social as ever. A lot of people say it's ruined now that it's so easy to level, but I like to actually know in my mind that it's possible to hit max level, while back then, it only seemed like a dream. I'll never forget the old MapleStory, and I'll cherish the memories of it forever, but out with the old, and in with the new.

For example, every week I have about 3-4 weekly bosses I have to run with friends and it is something I can look forward to because it is fun. But to reach that point in the game though .. Is something alright lol but yea.

Dam man, i remember when aran came out, there was this event when you got to level 10, you choose one of two scrolls, it was magic attack and weapon attk pink scrolls. I just started collecting like literally 200 weapon attack scrolls from it and when the event was over, man that freaking scroll was worth like 20m made tons of money off it!
I was out of the game for quite a while before Aran, the came back at that time. I bought out my server of Maple Pole Arms thinking they would be HUGE! only to find they were being given away in a quest for Arans. RIP mesos
I did that same thing with Tempest equipment. That's how I made my first billion.
