There's something genuinely magical about these animations. I found myself feeling like I was back in 2006 playing again, meeting new people in random maps... It just felt real. I don't know why but it's really powerful.
Truly! It captures Old Maple so perfectly! Movement, skills, the world.. even things like seeing a high lvl and stopping and staring at them or even following them around for a while xD

Original MapleStory wasn't a high-packed action game, but the cute and colorful art paired with music and atmosphere in an online world with others was unprecedented. This feeling for us older folk cannot be replicated. Masterpiece.
I love how perfectly you captured the chaos of Henesys hunting ground. Also, loved when the character stopped everything to go chase the wizard teleporting around the map...that was so accurate haha Another wonderful animation. Thank you for sharing with us.
Henesys hunting grounds was the most active place to animate, but its truly a sight to see, one needs to pause and re-watch to spot all the details. :D
Hello Everyone. I'm happy the share my latest creation with you all, there were some scenes that i cut short due to time, but i had this wonderful creative idea with the art book that zoomed into the next finished video frame. As for continuation - I will see how my work reaches people and if there will be enough noise i might look into making a follow up videos., I have my own games that i wished to create and share but i feel like if the title would not be known it would go into a drain unnoticed which has happen to many of my previous animated game projects. Maplestory was a joy to make as it is warm and beautiful game and the colours that bring the wonder and imagination of the world that wizet/nexon made. I had inspiration to give different perspective with contributed work with SamSam art drawings to not be bored away with the standard 2d perspective, I always look to bring something new and challenge my self has been always great progress for my representation of art and game making. I will see what creative idea hits me next to inspire and amaze you all with my next animation films. Thank you all for watching and sharing my videos💟

You can tell how much this person love the game by them understanding the little nuances of how players would interact with the game mechanics, such as standing still and waiting for other players to attack the monsters so the path would be cleared and they don’t have to deal with damages. Or trying to up a powerful monsters they understood was beyond their level but seeing that the damage received is too high, they decided to run away. It is almost a visceral feeling when watching it. Thank you for making it.
Hei, thank you for all your comments i read them all, I have a good understanding of the game and most of my animated work has this game feel like as i do to use game mechanics to make all the movements closer to the game as possible, I haven't seen any others artist that does this type of mechanical animation. I will see if i get more time to create more animation like this. Work is impressive and it takes time, It might be another half a year until this type of work or other project can be seen from me.
@@miltfox I understand that animating anything is hard, and I’m really impressed by how you're able to do this! Did you break down the character into various reusable body parts as components, viewed from different angles. I think this will be faster and maybe able to save you some time.
@@instantnoodle2341 re-usable body parts< No it would not look very good, it only can work in stick figure fights, I have too much complex movements and i always try to make something new to my characters behaviour, although i do use some of my overall movements from before like running, but not as much, it does take time, but i enjoy the drawing process too.
The amount of nostalgia induced is strong as heck too in this one. Animation is so lively and encapsulates the mood of OSMS so well! I can't imagine how much effort this took

I love how much detail went into each of the towns, especially Henesys and it's Hunting Ground. All the players you'd see each doing their own thing with their own personality, all the iconic NPCs with their original looks (OG Cassandra!) and how you adapted it to an isometric perspective in a way that fits the soul of how the game used to be, so incredibly well. Amazing work 💜
Oh.. thank you for your comment, I did put some extra animation for some known npc's, with intention to give them more life movement when you meet them on the map. If i ever continue i do want to make some quest too.
I think the little Mai npc's in henesys was my favourite to draw she looks so cute. It's almost like she is a bit confused in a way to want ask for help.

idk why but when I was a kid I used to imagine myself sitting on that grass platform somewhere around Lith harbor or Henesis, leanin' my back on a cliff or smt. I guess may be that was because i used to think the field would be as soft and cozy as a blanket. This video brings me back the memory of then. Perfect video, thxs a lot dude
My art style is very enjoyable to look at i think its the colours and the atmosphere that i create with my backgrounds mixed with smooth animation. It creates this unforgettable feeling, i believe its also because there is no one else that this type of animation and for everyone who sees it first time ~gives this Wow like feel. 6-7 months of hand drawn work. I am actually pleasantly surprised how much comments and praise i have for my work, which i appreciate, just wished it would explode more on youtube so more known people can spot me, most likely i will try other projects to see if they do better.

Love the details in the movements of the characters, while waddling being so cute... Such a nice work in bringing the vibe of the game in its early ages. Your work brings me good memories when I was an elementary school kid in Korea, when Maplestory came out and it was a huge hit among kids.
Again, another gloriously detailed animation. I love your backgrounds and their use of color. The thing that stands out the most (as always) is the capture and detail of player movement - especially the patterns that exist but make no real-world sense. Seeing them makes me so happy. The amount of little things that you'd really only get if you've played old school Maple is insane. The big ones you nailed, for me, were the backstepping to try to use knockback from attacks to avoid damage and attempting (as well as failing like 80~90% of the time) to jump over/avoid enemies. The small UI touches you brought up when examining players was a nice touch too. I could say other things--I think the camera angle you went with, for example, was a really smart idea for representing this game--but I'll let others do it for me, lmao. This is really good.
Hehe thanks for your feedback, when i draw i also play in my mind and think how the game code would react to each movement, so i proceed into making very close to game itself and give this very close gameplay feel.
1:55 I really like the detail of being able to see the ocean waves from a top down perspective, it looks great! Also 2:00 I recognize those two, the newbies from those old CGI trailers, I love those 😄

It's insane how well you managed to capture the feeling of maple combat so well in a new perspective. like, kiting around the little snails was perfect. We can't kite like that in game but it still felt the same?? just crazy attention to detail overall, like spam jumping in ellinia too
Yes indeed you cant kite like that perfectly, but i do make my own details to them and yet not taking away what game code does it when you are close to the enemy. Honestly i wished i had more opportunities to make games and animation films, if only i had time and place to freely express my creative mind.

어린 시절 메이플스토리에 접속해서 사냥하던 추억이 생각나네요ㅠㅠ 정말 아름답고 섬세한 부분이 살아있는 애니메이션입니다❤ 좋았던 부분들이 너무 많아서 몇 가지 적자면 1. 옛날 메이플스토리 초기 접속화면에서 책이 펼쳐져있는데 그걸 그대로 구현함. 각 페이지를 펼칠 때마다 모험가인 유저들의 모습이 나와서 유저가 이 '스토리'의 주인공인 걸 보여줌 2. 게임은 2D지만 애니메이션은 3D 조감도로 보여줘서 여러 유저들의 움직임과 사냥하는 장면을 세부적으로 구현함. 3. NPC는 원래 가만히 있는데 애니메이션에서는 유저들이 주위를 이동할 때 작게 상호작용을 해줌. 4. 그 시절 감성 구현. 돈 없는 유저는 레벨에 맞는 장비 아이템으로만 구성하고 돈 있는 유저는 캐시 아이템을 장착함. 그리고 유저들끼리 사냥하는 몬스터가 겹치면 피하거나 한번 잡아주고 가는 점, 마을에서 지나가는 유저들한테 시비거는 유저, 고렙 마법사는 텔레포트로 이동하는데 한번 따라가본다던가😂 그 시절 유저들의 행동을 아주 잘 구현함. 이 외에도 많은 부분에서 이 애니메이션이 얼마나 많은 공을 들여서 제작했는지 알 수 있었습니다. 기회가 된다면 빅토리아 아일랜드 말고도 다른 사냥터나 파티 퀘스트도 애니메이션으로 보고 싶어요 :) 제작해주셔서 감사합니다!

My art style is very enjoyable to look at i think its the colours and the atmosphere that i create with my backgrounds mixed with smooth animation. It creates this unforgettable feeling, i believe its also because there is no one else that this type of animation and for everyone who sees it first time ~gives this Wow like feel. 6-7 months of hand drawn work. I am actually pleasantly surprised how much comments and praise i have for my work, which i appreciate, just wished it would explode more on youtube so more known people can spot me, most likely i will try other projects to see if they do better.

This is the best animation of maplestory I've seen, it captures the magic of the game so well I can't explain it, every place, player and mob feels so alive as if this was a whole breathing living world of its own, I hope this hits AT LEAST 1 million views, because it genuinely deserves it, thank you for bringing us this masterpiece of animation that otherwise we wouldn't had been able to experience

Love the details in the movements of the characters, while waddling being so cute... Such a nice work in bringing the vibe of the game in its early ages. Your work brings me good memories when I was an elementary school kid in Korea, when Maplestory came out and it was a huge hit among kids.

Again, another gloriously detailed animation. I love your backgrounds and their use of color. The thing that stands out the most (as always) is the capture and detail of player movement - especially the patterns that exist but make no real-world sense. Seeing them makes me so happy.

this is so good!!! i love the way you visualized the world from this top down sorta isometric perspective! and the way other characters n npc's move. everything, even the environment feels so alive and lived in, you really captured that feeling of playing the game back then. also loved the part with the character UI popping up. so so so cool !! thank you for making this :D

The amount of little things that you'd really only get if you've played old school Maple is insane. The big ones you nailed, for me, were the backstepping to try to use knockback from attacks to avoid damage and attempting (as well as failing like 80~90% of the time) to jump over/avoid enemies. The small UI touches you brought up when examining players was a nice touch too. I could say other things--I think the camera angle you went with, for example, was a really smart idea for representing this game--but I'll let others do it for me, lmao. This is really good.
Hehe thanks for your feedback, when i draw i also play in my mind and think how the game code would react to each movement, so i proceed into making very close to game itself and give this very close gameplay feel.

It's insane how well you managed to capture the feeling of maple combat so well in a new perspective. like, kiting around the little snails was perfect. We can't kite like that in game but it still felt the same?? just crazy attention to detail overall, like spam jumping in ellinia too
Yes indeed you cant kite like that perfectly, but i do make my own details to them and yet not taking away what game code does it when you are close to the enemy. Honestly i wished i had more opportunities to make games and animation films, if only i had time and place to freely express my creative mind.

어린 시절 메이플스토리에 접속해서 사냥하던 추억이 생각나네요ㅠㅠ 정말 아름답고 섬세한 부분이 살아있는 애니메이션입니다❤
좋았던 부분들이 너무 많아서 몇 가지 적자면
1. 옛날 메이플스토리 초기 접속화면에서 책이 펼쳐져있는데 그걸 그대로 구현함. 각 페이지를 펼칠 때마다 모험가인 유저들의 모습이 나와서 유저가 이 '스토리'의 주인공인 걸 보여줌
2. 게임은 2D지만 애니메이션은 3D 조감도로 보여줘서 여러 유저들의 움직임과 사냥하는 장면을 세부적으로 구현함.
3. NPC는 원래 가만히 있는데 애니메이션에서는 유저들이 주위를 이동할 때 작게 상호작용을 해줌.
4. 그 시절 감성 구현. 돈 없는 유저는 레벨에 맞는 장비 아이템으로만 구성하고 돈 있는 유저는 캐시 아이템을 장착함. 그리고 유저들끼리 사냥하는 몬스터가 겹치면 피하거나 한번 잡아주고 가는 점, 마을에서 지나가는 유저들한테 시비거는 유저, 고렙 마법사는 텔레포트로 이동하는데 한번 따라가본다던가😂 그 시절 유저들의 행동을 아주 잘 구현함.
이 외에도 많은 부분에서 이 애니메이션이 얼마나 많은 공을 들여서 제작했는지 알 수 있었습니다. 기회가 된다면 빅토리아 아일랜드 말고도 다른 사냥터나 파티 퀘스트도 애니메이션으로 보고 싶어요 :) 제작해주셔서 감사합니다!
