im an elementary/special ed major in college and just wanna say i appreciate you!! i've been up for hours tonight feeling so much anxiety at the idea of graduating and job searching soon. i worry all the time about not being good enough to be a teacher. your videos are always so grounding for me. thanks for all the helpful tips and for keeping it real!! so many teachers on social media stress me out bc they have perfect pinterest classrooms and seem impossibly happy/high energy all the time lol so i appreciate you being realistic and practical about things.
New subscriber and love ❤️ this video!!! I’m a special Ed student in high school (Sophomore) and I might want to this when I grow up. Edit: a high school/ middle school special Ed teacher
Hi. I love your channel and watch it as soon as I get a notification. I sometimes watch it 2 or 3 times. I’m new to this. I have one student that can’t get it. Is it ok if the student is just memorizing what we are doing? Should I continue with the same task box? I have used all of your literacy videos and my upper grade students love those activities. I just need a little or maybe a lot of help. By the way, your videos are outstanding!
Thank you! I would mix it up. From a task box to a writing task or maybe a different type of task for the same skill. It's better to try and generalize
Have you ever done academic support? If so, can you put your experience in the difference between academic support and having your own classroom? I’m doing academic support now and I really want my own class😭. I’m a teacher in RI.
@@thatspecialeducator1061 I’m going to put together a booklet, starting with instruments of the orchestra, then rhythm/beat, then pitch etc. I can share if it helps!
Any advice for a sped teacher coming in (a little over) hallway through the school year? I just graduated in December and have two positions I'm deciding between. Both are elementary, one is an ED program while the other is more of a resource/co-teaching position. How should I start my first week?
Oh man! It is a hard transition. I would focus on routine, start with simple tasks, and spend a lot of time on building relationships. Focus on following the similar systems that the previous teacher had for aneasier transition for the students.

Just found your channel, love your tips! Best of luck with IEP season!
I just started as a sped teacher for 5-6 year olds. Any advice for getting them to stay in their desks?
this was good
Did you say 10 weeks?.. omg lol . Does Massachusetts have parents receive a draft in the mail for every IEP?
No 2 weeks haha! Sorry if that was confusing

Any tips for teaching music and health to an ASD class? I’m finding it really hard to find appropriate materials
Same! I’m struggling with that too
