I love you. I just got my teacher with students disability certification. Looking to start working in September of next school year and your videos calm me down because I am so nervous but excited. I am also a special needs mom so my heart is in this and I think that is what matters most. I want to see the smile on a child face the way my son smiles at his teachers because they are truly invested in him
Hi dear, thank you so much for all the i sightful videos you are making. I am glad I found your challel I am learning alot. I am SEN Educator from Nigeria.
Hi! I’m new to this community and I wanted to introduce myself! I am a 1:1 RBT at an ABA based school (I work with 1 student during the day) and I’m starting my BCBA coursework in the fall! I’m loving this community and can’t wait to learn how to support teachers more through this environment!
Hi - YOU are amazing! I have been teaching RSP while in school for 3 years now and behavior management is definitely a tough challenge for me. You mentioned links - can you help me understand how to find the links to timers, slides, games and token economy ideas? Huge thanks for posting these! Sarah
As a special educator, you may also have students with a 504 plan ! Compare and contrast the differences between each one. Both of these services are designed to help children with disabilities succeed in the educational environment.
Hi Braylnn! (Please, please correct me if I spelled your name wrong!), I am creating a resource portfolio for a class assignment (sped licensure) and I am citing your channel as one of my resources. I am going to include a short blurb: "Braylnn is an Elementary Special Education teacher on the coast of New England. She created her RUclips channel in 2015 to share her experiences with other educators. She makes videos covering topics like classroom management for first year teachers, the importance of diversity in the classroom - and what that should look like, and her favorite tools to use with her students." I wanted to know if there is anything here you disagree with, have a preference over or anything you do or do not want me to include? This will be turned in and shared with my classmates as a collective resource on the different IDEA categories. I specifically included the part about a "diverse classroom" because 1. of the current events in the United States and 2. because I live and work in a minority-majority state where most of my students are Black, Hispanic and/or Native American. If there is a better phrase or something else entirely, I am happy to seek it out. As of writing this comment, this is the most commonly used language I am aware of. Because it is in direct reference to you, I'd like to know if you are comfortable with the language. Thank you for all the hard work you do and for sharing it with us!
Hello there! Can I ask you why you chose to work as a teacher instead of working as a BCBA? BTW! I love your videos! I just accepted a job as a Prek Ese for the next school year and it will be my first year teaching! Any tips and advice are welcome and appreciated!!! 💙
I'm a new teacher and in learning each day ik assisting a teacher she's aggressive in class and has 3 students with massive behavioral issues nothing seems to change em finally they end up getting beaten 2 min and distractions start how can I make a positive difference
Hi! I am not available right now for one on one but check out all of my videos. All of us specal ed teachers learned so much our first years from trial and error! You will do great! I hope the videos give you some ideas!
Hello! Would you have feedback on a teacher for 33 minutes making a newly 5 yr old girl pull up her pants after pottying. The teacher said it took her 33 minutes to do it herself. I asked if she helped and she no because she has to learn to do it herself, pull up her pants. The 5 year old is my daughter who has Trisomy 21 and is working on her fine motor skills. The teacher said she kept refusing. Right after,, during circle time my daughter ended tearing up a classmates art work at their desk and threw her shoes. My daughter is in a self contained Special Education pre k classroom in a public school in the 🇺🇸. Pulling up her pants is part of her objectives for a self help goal. Ty
So sorry to hear that! They definitely need help she is only 5 plus needs to get step by step direction maybe thru gesture too … we should have a heart too… I am able to help my individuals with autism so much more and to understand their difficulties after taking a course on ABA though I’m an SLP.
One important fact about kids with trisomy 21 is that they need repeated directions, for them to comprehend an activity, and multiple modalities like visual, pointing and even maybe RUclips videos showing basic ADL skills
I really love the idea of a reset activity! I use brain breaks in my classroom and they really help my students get out that crazy pent up energy!
Thanks girl!! I need the brain break myself 😂
