I had a guest star role on this series in 2001. I had a scene in Stephen Collins' office. I played Roland Rogers, an office manager who's boss arranges for me to speak to the Reverend,. Turns out the hilarity that I enjoy in my office led to someone stealing the artificial arm from another one of my employees. It was a long fun scene and at the end the camera reveals that young Simon was listening around the corner, and the discussion was impactful on him. I still remember that as soon as we finished shooting the scene for the last take, Stephen jumped up and proclaimed that I was an example of excellent casting. I enjoyed the experience.

God, it's even more disturbing watching the dad character have all these conversations about dating and periods with the child actors now. It's disturbing enough that he worked closely with these kids. I hope nothing happened.
The actors who play Lucy, Simon & Ruthie, the three youngest siblings, started a podcast and they addressed his behavior. They said that they were very sorry to the victims and confirmed that nothing happened to them.
52:42 Actually, Abby Morris, who was played by Stephen Collins now ex-wife, does ask Eric to tell Annie near the end of the episode so he does so, which we see him do. 55:47 The ring Eric gives Annie at the Church to replace the stolen Wedding ring is a Red Lightning Ring, Red Lightning being a Superhero that Simon is obsessed with. It’s Simon who gives Eric the Red Lightning ring to give Annie. It’s meant to be a sweet gesture. 57:06 The scene in Eric and Annie’s room where Julie is screaming and frightened is meant to show Delirium tremens (DT’s) which can happen with alcohol withdrawal. Sometimes hallucinations happen as part of DT’s.
If you think it was weird for Eric to want to be involved with Lucy's period drama, wait until a later season where Ruthie asks him the most out of pocket question for a daughter to ask their father! (This is my way of requesting more of this 😅)
@@malanenix4033 I can't remember exactly what season it is, but it's one where Ruthie is a teenager and I think Eric is driving her to a party or something, and she basically asks him if she's sexy / if he thinks boys would find her sexy 😬

One of the weirdest parts of this show for me (which is saying a lot because this show is so unhinged), is the fact that Ruthie looks straight up biracial and I like to think there's some Annie x mysterious lover lore in there somewhere.
Ya’ll never seen actual biracial kids before? As a black person with mixed family members, Ruthie looks white to me. She just has curly hair, please don’t say she looks biracial because the girl has curly hair. 🙄

I watched the first episode of the Catching Up with the Camdens podcast and learned that Beverly Mitchell (Lucy) was 15 when the show started and Jessica Biel (Mary) was 14. During this season Lucy actually looked the age she was supposed to be while Mary looked like she could be 17.
Looked like Barry Watson (Matt) and Jessica came from fairly tall families (probably close to 6 ft tall, maybe in the 5'9 - 6' range), while Beverly was from a shorter family. That's probably why Jessica looked older than Beverly. Also, I have a headcanon that Ruthie was adopted likely as an infant (mainly because her actor MacKenzie Rosman looked like a person of colour compared to her caucasian co-stars as the other family members, but it is possible for her to be mixed race, and she could be part caucasian, part POC), but unless someone confirms that, I'll take the assumption that she has the same birth parents as her siblings and just had a non-caucasian cast as her.

1:09:53 she asked for my commentary as a Hispanic immigrant on this episode because she thinks it’s a little weird that they had this Hispanic character for the purpose of showing how awesome America is. And yea I also think it’s gross. You’re right it’s icky to like the country you immigrated to. I came here illegally and I hate it. It’s so racist. I’ll stay and soak up the befits but fuck this country.
The way this show just threw away side characters was insane. Came back to finish this & I need to add, that the guy who ran Mary over was the school bully. He relentlessly picked on Mary and you mentioned that episode 16 was meh but that's when he sexually harasses Mary. It's pretty effed up so the fact that he hit her with his car is just showcasing how gross this guy was.
I used to watch this show all the time when it aired and didn’t realize until you pointed it out that Eric’s plans work perfectly every single time. I loved this video and hope you do more 7th Heaven videos.
Growing up in a Christian household I never thought 7th Heaven was a faith based show, like quoting scripture, praying, but it was been a minute since I saw it
my friends and I were so obsessed with this show when it was airing. just watching this recap, you going through the episodes makes me look back and laugh (and cringe) at how seriously they tried to portray so many things that are now seen as so normal. but that's the 90s!
I'm really grateful my life was closer to this in high school than Euphoria. I did know kids who had the Euphoria life, my neighborhood was like that, but fortunately my high school had kids more in common with 7th Heaven. Simon wanting a dog is so funny and cute and very funny.
Just a comment about Eric Camden, the Dad, and his superpowers: I think the character of Eric may have been a bit influenced by the character of Charles Ingalls on the TV “Little House on the Prairie”. Like Eric, Charles was often helping people and solving their problems. And like in Episode 10 “Last Call for Aunt Julie”, Charles stays with an alcoholic father so he can detox in the Season 1 episode “Child of Pain” from “Little House” and we witness the alcoholic father also having DT’s, except he sees bats rather rats like Julie does.
I was never religious and always thought the show is weird, but I still loved it in the 90s. Tried to binge it as an adult, it was too cringe for me. Just thinking who`s that happy to get her period? And uses tampons right away during her first period. And why does her dad have to go buy her tampons she lives with a sister and mum there`s enough in the house. I insist tough, Matt was cool and as a teen girl I definitely drooled over him , BUT the best character? No that`s Happy! I want the whole family to do a 23 and me, and go through family photos as far back as they find. Ruthy looks so extremely different (she became my favourite when she got older).
A lot of shows back then got kick backs from doing anti drug or alcohol episodes. That's why shows in the 90's have a lot of these pot are bad alcohol is bad episodes. Enjoyed the video hope you do more as i will never be watching this show. Please suffer for me. Yes a small anount of beer split stinks to high heaven (see what i did there high heaven)

One day I tuned in for just a second to see what it was like, and it was the scene where Annie's sister is terrorizing Simon for the key. Weed was everywhere back then on TV.
They should've showed harder drugs. The pot heads in my school were chill, but the ones taking their mom's pain pills in the middle of the school day was an issue
I mean, ok, the unwed mother story is super heavy handed, but also I got pregnant as a teen after having sex one time. It happens, and it's good for kids to know that it can happen
Same here! Pregnant at 16 after ONE time, he’s now 27 and has 2 kids of his own! ❤
And that's why you don't let your skeevy boyfriend not wear a condom😂😂 thanks 10 things I hate about you
This was wild! 😂 Would love to see season 2!
We need you to do S2!! Dont stop this was incredible!
The actor for Dwight is the voice of Mikey in Recess, could tell by his voice immediately 😊
Small world. Lucy's next boyfriend, Rod, played King Bob in Recess and Arnold on Hey Arnold!
He is an Angel. RIP.
THANK YOU!! I thought I was losing it.
@@maryredding1619 Lucy's friend in season 2 that has a Mother that is verbally mean to her was in The Amanda Show. She was Missy in the Moody's Point skit and did a few of the ad skits.
I really enjoyed this. I only watched like a handful of episodes of this growing up but you made it entertaining to watch this retrospective. I'd love to watch you talk about season 2.
You can kill an alcoholic by denying them alcohol you are supposed to taper down
I’m so glad you’re covering this insane show bc I have yet to find another commentary on it!!
My mom was a single mother and she was awesome. I never went without things I needed. She worked hard.
Please do all the seasons, this was great! 😂
Hey you should make more of these, this was hilarious!
I used to watch this show all the time when it aired and didn’t realize until you pointed it out that Eric’s plans work perfectly every single time. I loved this video and hope you do more 7th Heaven videos.
I love your delivery, this was so fun to watch and I usually don't like long videos. Glad you did season 2!
Growing up in a Christian household I never thought 7th Heaven was a faith based show, like quoting scripture, praying, but it was been a minute since I saw it
Exactly
7th Heaven is not Christian. Its just his job.
my friends and I were so obsessed with this show when it was airing. just watching this recap, you going through the episodes makes me look back and laugh (and cringe) at how seriously they tried to portray so many things that are now seen as so normal. but that's the 90s!
I'm really grateful my life was closer to this in high school than Euphoria. I did know kids who had the Euphoria life, my neighborhood was like that, but fortunately my high school had kids more in common with 7th Heaven. Simon wanting a dog is so funny and cute and very funny.
I am enjoying your video series far more than I should, having never watched the original run!
Desperately need you to do all the seasons. It only gets more unhinged from here. 😂
When i was a little kid i HATED this show. Because even then i realised how actually unrealistic it was.
Same here lol. Also my mother made me watch the middle finger episode to 'be respectful.'
Dont worry lucy, you're prince Charles' type too
Actually that's prince Andrew. I think Charles likes wrinkly old ladies.
this was sooooo goooood
I would love too see more season breakdowns!
I love this because I think Charles Ingles, the character, is like the best man ever and he looks good lol I love Little House...
Amazing video. Can't wait to see your channel blow up 🙏❤
I was never religious and always thought the show is weird, but I still loved it in the 90s.
Loved the recap. I hope you do the whole series.
Wow. This show was way more bonkers than i remember. Looking forward to season 2 if you do it.
This was so great, love your commentary. Pls do more of this ridiculous show pleaseeeee
The speed at which I clicked this video. Algorithm win!
"Ruthie is just there to be adorable" yeah you clearly haven't watched past the first season lmao
And? Lol she is adorable!
@@kellyfinley4419the last episode I remember watching was the one where ruthie (maybe 10-13) tries seduce to a much older boy who lives with them. Also, Simon kills someone 😬
@@kellyfinley4419 she is adorbs for sure! But in later seasons she is adorable AND menacing not just adorable lol
It was a weird flex back in 90s tv show/commercials the most "manly" thing u could do was buy ur wife or daughter tampons in the store
You gained a subscriber!!! This was a great very detailed and entertaining video!! Thank you!(:
Oh bless you for doing this, definitely subscribed ☺️
Yes please keep going!! There’s so much more in season 2!
I hope you do more of these!
I wasn't allowed to watch this show but I grew up with it in the periphery. One day I tuned in for just a second to see what it was like, and it was the scene where Annie's sister is terrorizing Simon for the key. All I knew was that the mom was blonde, so I thought that 7th Heaven was a psychological thriller about a Christian family trying to help their alcoholic mother/wife , not a slice of life. I was actually pretty scared of it for a while! Thanks for the video Shae, I love your commentary :)
Why weren't you aloud to watch it?
I love this 😂😂 I’m not finished the video yet, but I am so pumped to have come across your channel. 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Spoiler
Random memory of this show, Loosey ends up in jurry duty and has to walk away because it was Jimmy Moon on trial. Why this memory came to me I have no idea.
I loved this show but your commentary is so on point and funny. I hope you review more seasons 😅
I watched this growing up off and on! You recap is on point and I dig your style!
Here before you blow tf up 🎉
Honestly the dad being haunted 30+ years by a grade school mistake is such a me mood and I hate it
Please do season 2! This was fantastic.
Im very impressed that the episode said it was okay for that women to divorce her abusive husband when other at least emotionally abusive parents just got a talking to about being better parents or something like that
Pleaseeee cover the whole show! I love your commentary so much!❤ gotta love how every problem is solved in 48 minutes 🙌🏻
This video was the best. I can't believe how few people have made videos about this absurd show. I was particularly obsessed with the show in 8th grade/high school when seasons 8-11 aired. As an atheist I loved making fun of this show while reveling in the drama. Please talk about this show as much as you want. I will watch!!
If my dad non stop talked to be about my period at 11 👀, I think I’d jump out the window and run.
Yes, 1000x yes, I’d love a season 2 recap!
What's hilarious is that the guy who played the dope fiend here later played the main part in the musical Reefer Madness. There he also played a nice boy quickly falling into the hellish and bottomless pit of marijuana use.
Dwight played Mikey in Recess and he passed away in 2020 :( RIP Jason Davis!
Oh my God, I don't know how or why you showed up on my feed but I am so glad 😂😂 I love this! I love this.
44:21 I didn't think of it like that til you said it that way😂 but I'm sure many others have pointed out that he had some kind of traumatic brain injury? I don't remember the mental gymnastics they used to justify this relationship but it was weird all around.
Anyway, glad to meet you, please excuse me while I binge your channel
Love this video! Love to see your take on all the seasons
Ma’am I’m gonna NEED season two??? BEGGING
Lucy is just so extra. It's no surprise to me that, growing up, people told me I reminded them of her. Yes, I'm aware that's not a GOOD thing. 😅
We should stop shaming kids for learning how to people damn😂 you were a great kid. Let little you be extra. I got told I was too much and too loud
Lucy’s trailer park middle aged man friend, was also in 2 episodes of Dr Quinn Medicine Woman as a train conductor whose face was melted by hot steam and coals. Later, he was in the infamous XFiles episode called HOME, the one about a multigenerational family raised in incest in the boonies.
Fun fact: In the original shooting of the pilot, Matt and Mary ACTUALLY KISS. The scene was reshot for the final cut after the series was picked up.
I love it and will be seated for further seasons
I couldn't even get my dad to buy pads for me.
my dad was 78 when he found out women don't sit bare on public toilet seats.
i don't know what casting directors had against the women who played annie's pedo friend rachel, she was also cast as an english teacher in season 1 of dawson's creek and has a full blown sexual relationship with pacey who's her 15 year old student. the female predator type casting is strong with this one.
I can see you becoming huge on RUclips.
Please do more, loved every minute of your breakdown of the season, super funny and entertaining - great job, keep it up🤩🎉
1:03:25 I knew his voice sounded familiar that's Mikey from Recess Jason Davis RIP
RIP? You mean he died?
I recognized his voice right away as well! And I always liked Mikey because he was always so unashamedly himself. So I can understand the appeal for his character if he’s like that here as well.
And absolutely RIP. A sad young loss.
@@oooh19he passed in 2020 :(
@@bellamckenzie4433 that's sad. was it COVID related?
Unfortunately it looks like it was a drug-related overdose of fentanyl @@oooh19
I hope you can find it in you to do season 2!! I loved this video so much, i watched this show occasionally as a kid and looking at it now just cracks me up lmao And maybe for future seasons you can split them up into 2 or 3 vids that way you dont have to put yourself through hell lol
I'm begging you to take more of this show and give us more recaps
I truly cant wait for you to recap seaseon 3 and on!!! 🎉
I'm willing to bet Dwight is the voice actor for Mikey on Recess. Sounds just like him
Instant sub & I’m here for every season recap 🥳
I think “Wilson” ran a sort of a cult later on (irl, not in the show)
Yes he does. I remember seeing him on 10 Things I Hate About You. He was the complete opposite of his character here lol. Handsome guy though.
