    Tudor is where Rolex was in 1960, imo. The Tudor GMT doubles as a diver, that’s worth a lot!

  • @rcm4u2
    @rcm4u2 5 лет назад +17

    I totally agree. I have 2 vintage GMT Masters, and think this one will replace them in many instances. A big plus for me is the vintage look, the 70 hour power reserve, and the fact that this one is a diver, while the Rolex GMT has never been.

    • @JohnUSA7
      @JohnUSA7 4 месяца назад +1

      Rolex GMT is waterproof to 100 meters.
      Tudor GMT is waterproof to 200 meters.
      If you really are going to dive deeper than 100 meters, which is 328 feet, then you will need the Tudor GMT. But you better be an excellent and experienced diver to go that deep.

    I'm not a watch collector, I'm a one watch wearer until it dies. In the market to get my first Rolex for a year now as the model I like, the GMT is not available. Finally, my local Rolex AD called me to come in and check the new Rolex pepsi, I checked it out and asked if they had the Tudor GMT on sienna strap, they did. In one world this watch is just STUNNING! I stopped looking, handling, wearing the Rolex and all I was doing was enjoying the amazing stylish look of the Tudor. I came in for a Rolex, I get out completely in love with the Tudor. I know it's a matter of taste, and I know Rolex is Rolex, but to me, the Tudor GMT on that leather strap is something unique. It looks completely different that the one on stainless steal. I'm getting one.

    I’m late to the party now in 2022, but I have to say that this piece is so good that it’s all I want to wear. An almost perfect tool watch, on par anything that costs twice as much. That sounds dramatic but it isn’t. Go try one on.

    Owner of both Tudor and Rolex . When I wear Tudor BB blue , so many people ask if it is a Rolex and I always ended up answering and explaining what Tudor is . It’s a great travel watch especially to tropical destinations.

    I also own 2 Rolex GMT's Coke 1998 and a Batman 2017, both I love. Just bought the Tudor to flip and I can't part with it! Initially, I was worried about the thickness, but have found it not to be an issue at all. Great review!

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy 4 года назад +2

      Thickness is what has concerned. I love my BB58 but have a wrist large enough for my PAM. Do you feel that the Tudor GMT’s case height is unacceptable? Thanks!

      @@IrixGuy imo if you have a wrist large enough for a pam, you should be able to carry that thickness well.

    The fact that it has the aluminum bezel which give it a real heritage look. A nice gmt watch to own. I have the blue one and liked the thickness of the case that given me a good presence of a watch on my wrist.

  • @bobsolanki
    @bobsolanki 6 лет назад +10

    Tudor gmt function is more legible than the Rolex. The snowflake shape and placement of how close it gets to the minute track are the key take aways in my opinion. (The Rolex gmt arrow sometimes hides behind the minute hand)I can see myself debating this model to the explorer 2(16570). Like you mentioned Tudor is more playful the color is actually used from the Burgundy and Blue black bay heritage diver.

    Love this watch. The larger 41mm case, 22mm bracelet, and 50mm lug-to-lug makes this the size the Rolex GMT and Sub SHOULD be. The 40mm Rolex models wear small on anyone with a 6.75" or above wrist. The Tudors really hit the sweet spot size-wise. I hope to add one of these soon. Nice review!

    The inside bevel (check at 8:51 in the video) makes adjustments by the crown when you take the watch off of your wrist, easier to perform. I didn't notice the inside bevel till I looked at it in person. It makes perceive to wear slimmer.

    If you like the looks of the Tudor over the Rolex, and one is one third the price with equal precision and quality than the other....the answer is obvious. In Rolex you are paying the advertising, the sponsorship and yes..the fame. But..honestly I don´t think the Tudor factory is going to compromise on purpose their manufacturing processes and quality just to be less expensive than Rolex....difference in price is explained by marketing expenses, ridiculous hype, desire and scarcity. Twenty years from now, the Tudor GMT will be a collector’s piece just by the fact that it somehow managed to "dent the famous crown".

    I’d agree with your view. Sadly of late both the Tudor GMT and BB58 have caught the Rolex fever with soaring demand consequently long wait lists for both - meaning premiums on the grey market. Recent reports of problems with the Tudor GMTs date changeover may slow sales down a bit which could be a good thing to restore Tudor as the value proposition almost at any price - IMHO. Some fevers may take longer to overcome than others.

    Great review of what appears to be an awesome piece. What do you think of the Black Bay 58? I’m female and wear a 116520 which I adore. Many years ago I owned a 16610 and miss having a diver but also prefer a no date look. The 14060 is appealing but prices are on the rise and I wonder if it would be too ‘tinny’. I like a solid feel overall and am liking the new offerings from Tudor. Great tool look!

    My Tudor GMT is sitting at my Authorized Dealer because I had the date jump two days at a time for 3 days straight. I brought it in on March 12th and days later the Covid-19 essential business policies were implemented and watch businesses closed. I'm done with Tudor as a brand because they have known since 2018 when this watch launched that they have a problem with the movement. There should be a class action lawsuit for damages to the buyers of this watch. The potential value is damaged not to mention the loss having to send it in for service. There are many that have had the problem repeat multiple times. Rolex - Tudor must be so arrogant they could care less about customers.

      I couldn't disagree more. The color choice is aligned with the overall elegant and retro inspired design. I would almost like to see an even more muted red. Or a more "mature" color combination like a rootbeer or something in that spirit. Anyway these colors give a perfectly coherent finish in my opinion and I would love to be able to afford one eventually. I am very happy to see less "in your face" colors and proportions lately!
      also, I read somewhere that due to the aluminium bezel. the colors won't fade overtime. Can anyone confirm?

      The bezel colors are what makes this watch the perfect GMT. Not cartoonish blurple and pink like the Rolex GMT. Great deep subtle blue and darker red. Gives is a vintage vibe. Bezel is perfect IMO

    I’ve had mine for about 2 months and absolutely love it. I have many watches including a Submariner, this is my go to watch. Some have said that the thickness is a issue but I do not find it to be the case, no pun intended, it is extremely wearable, you would have to try it on to see if it suits you.

    Great video
    Do you know if the glass is sapphire or not I have tried to find the answer on so many web searches even on the Tudor site. I saw an interesting RUclips video where someone put a small drop of water on a number of watch glasses and only on the sapphire it did not flow or spread

      of course it is sapphire

    Rolex is so common and impersonal. Great watch but do you really want to have same watch as all other people. Go you own way there a plenty other brands find a watch that represents your real style. In this case I would choose Tudor.
    Less is more.

    I think it is such a beautiful watch. Like seriously I like it more then the rolex gmt honestly. I don't feel like the rolex gmt is a tool watch anymore, it feels like a piece of luxury jewelry.

    Never adjust the time moving the hands counterclockwise... it will add life to the movement.

      It won't add life to the movement. It will avoid shortening the movements life.

    A good informative presentation, the Tudor GMT is on my radar.
    Regarding Omega, they’ve had the quick set GMT / true GMT for a long long time. My 22 year old Seamaster 50th anniversary GMT has that feature.✌🏼

    So if a watch has quick set function for the hour hand, it loses the quick set date function? I'd rather have the quick set date than quick set hour hand.

  • @lj9655
    @lj9655 5 лет назад

    Does the date can be set without moving the hours hand, like normal date regulation on others watches?

  • @ernestkrajnc6412
    @ernestkrajnc6412 6 лет назад +2

    Maybe I'm a moron, but please enlight me: this watch can track 3 diferent time zones (basic or home, second with gmt hand and third with a bezel). Why on earth is a quick set of hour hand so great on this kind of watch, who needs fourth time zone?? It's perfect for "normal" watch, but here?? Thanks for your answers.

    I have both , love both Rolex GMT & Tudor GMT , Rolex is more modern , Tudor have very original “ vintage feel “ , I think Tudor is building it own loving crowd , loving Tudor as being Tudor NOT a lesser Rolex or people not able to afford Rolex then go for Tudor , really hope Tudor can eventually move away from this saying . Interesting enough Wearing a Tudor actually more trendy ,more unstated , humble , a person who appreciates good watches with passion. Vs wearing a Rolex indeed a very good watch but just another person only know following the masses

      Almost pulled the trigger on this one, but decided in the end to bypass. I have a Tudor Black bay ETA, which I adore, but aside from the movement and bezel color is the same watch. And i have the Pepsi GMT 16700. If this was a coke bezel, I would have definitely pulled the trigger.

    • @JANTHONYCHANNEL
      @JANTHONYCHANNEL  6 лет назад

      Yeah I totally understand. Owning a GMT Master 16710 means that it wouldn't make sense for me to really buy it either. I barely wear all of the watches I have now. The BB is such a well done watch...
