    I really have grown to love the look of this watch. At that price, it's more of a longer term save to buy thing, but It's on my list. That size is perfect for my 7.25" wrist. I probably wouldn't own more than one GMT watch at a time, but this is a good one to make that only one. It's also nice to see you guys in discussions like that, instead of the usual audio only that I'm used to.

    I really appreciate your insights. Since getting this watch, I wear it most of the time. It's the one watch I wear that garners compliments wherever I go. Since I no longer go diving, this watch meets all of my needs. And yes, I could still wear it diving as a backup timekeeping source. Besides, I'd rather have it on my wrist than stuffed in a gear bag. With a 21 cm wrist, it's right at home. I am surprised by just how versatile this watch is as well as being an exceptional value. Thanks, gents. Great channel!

    James Stacey has got to be my favourite watch reporter. He is so compelling and easy to watch, he could sell ice to an eskimo. The watch isn't so much what collectors/audience are drawn to, but probably the way James delivers it and his lifestyle choice. That's why we are asking about his green jacket. It's the story he tells behind the watch. The man that wears it. Like an adventurous all american guy. A cross between Jimmy Stewart and Ernest Hemingway.

    After waiting 7 months, I got my 41 mm Tudor BB GMT with SS band in early February (2 month ago). I was fortunate to pay the $3,950.00 price and not the January 1, 2020 price of $4,050.00 price from an AD. I also have a 43 mm Tag Heuer GMT Aquaracer Calibre 7 (which I also bought from an AD at a substantial discount from the $2,850.00 list price in 2019, which is now priced at $3,050.00 as of April 1, 2020), also with a SS band. I actually like the Tag GMT for reasons different than the Tudor BB GMT, which I also like very much. The Tudor BB GMT is a refined precision instrument with a tight cranberry/blue-grey bezel and first class SS band and clasp. Whereas, the Tag GMT is a big, bright red and blue imposing Pepsi Bezel , I find it a bit sloppy and loose) and while the band itself is ok, the clasp could be made nicer, especially at the price point. I am fortunate with the Tag GMT specimen I have to be amazingly close to COSC tolerance, whereas the Tudor BB GMT is better than COSC standards. In the end, I like both watches. The Tag is an every day watch and the Tudor is a work/night out on the town watch. The Tudor is so nice, that it could be the only nice watch I own but not the only watch I own because I would not want to get it scratched up. That is why I feel the need to have Tag.

      Ed C
      It is really cool that you have 2 GMT watches... Tag GMT is cool but way big at 43mm, Tudor is another level up.. Tudor is so good at this point maybe Rolex Pepsi or Batman may not even be in consideration (for people who are not Rolex fanboys)

    • @edc3093
      @edc3093 4 года назад +2

      @@kostar500 Thank you for your comment. I feel I owe you an explanation. My wrist size without any slack in the bracelet is 9" (it's in the genes from my father). So, for me the perfect watch size is 41 mm (it looks perfect - like a dress watch) up to 43 mm (it looks larger but not overbearing for the size of my wrist). Fortunately, neither the Tudor nor the Tag required me to have to add any extra links. Wishing you and your good health and safety during these difficult times.

    Have you thought of bringing the podcast to a new channel in full with a video format? When talking about references with some guests its difficult to follow if you do not know the reference numbers. The show notes can help but listening on a commute or while working it is not as efficient as seeing a quick overlay. Also it is nice to see the personal touch that this podcast provides in this episode. It would also be a bit of a throwback to the friday live series which I personally dearly miss. Hope you all are keeping safe over in NY and that the health of the company is sustained! Much love from London!

      @@romulus1300 It is better then the traditional NATO because the spring bars are incorporating into tunnels into single piece of fabric so the NATO strap is slimmer and it has a higher thread count for durability and softness. If one spring bar fails the watch will not be lost.

    I own one of these. Even though I’d prefer it in the 39mm size, I absolutely love it. To me, I would never buy the in house regular black bays (also have the ETA BB with blue bezel) so while I loved the aesthetics of the watch, I always put if off my list. Then, I tried one on- and to me the underside bevels make the biggest difference in wearability so I pulled the trigger.

    Dec 18 I bought mine. Loved it. Been around the world with me. Then in Jan 20 the dreaded date issue. Sent back to Tudor. Got it back mid March. 2 issues: They had changed the dial to a non factory, badly hand lummed one (I have before and after photos...it really is amateur hour -blobs of lume spilling out of the markers). Winding the watch sounded like crunching gears. Very, very disappointed with Tudor service. Unfortunately they have closed due to Covid-19, so it is sitting in the ADs safe. I'll be surprised if I see it back by the end of the year. So I advise caution.

    As a watchmaker i felt i knew what the problem was, regarding the reports about the claimed date issue in the Tuder bb gmt! Usually it's to much oil on the date wheel teeth, and the solution is very simple, take the date wheel out and clean or wipe the excess oil of, and presto! I reasoned Tudor's expansion kva their resent success, probably had some problems hiring new qualified staff, But But,,,,, i know a dozen watchmakers working in a high end watch shop and they all say that the problem in the Tuder gmt is of a tech/engineering sort, simply put, you cant service your way out of it, the date machanism needs to go back to the drawing board again. Same problem but more severe, is Rolex launch of the new cal 32xx, it's riddled with issues, primary in the balance spring, thats like a heart problem! Symptoms vary, but consistently there is a low amplitude, and when the shop calls Rolex, they answer snotty back, with sugestions like: '' try changing the lift angle''.... That's BS. I was half way through saving up for the Tudor gmt, but now i dont know, i have to wait and see if they re engineer the date mech.

    It’s not a “dive watch.” It’s a GMT watch that you can dive with. It’s an air, land, and sea watch! And while I agree it’s not a black tie watch, the “drop it in your pocket. You have people to talk to anyway,” comment is antiquated. I’ve never been to any social event where my or anyone else’s watch, interrupted the flow of conversation.

    did any of your Tudor GMT have the date wheel issue? mine jumped 2 days at midnight

    I got my Tudor GMT in November 2018, so mine has the jumping date problem. I haven’t sent it it to Tudor to get it fixed yet. It’s been my travel and dive in to the beach and pool watch.
    I recently got the Rolex 16710 BLRO and its in another league, construction and materials wise.
    I love the BB58´s proportions, but the size is just too small for me.
    Wish list would be the entire Tudor Black Bay 41mm to have BB58´s proportions.

      Lula Macau sorry to hear mine Is fine. Also you say the BB58 is too small but then right after say you want the 41mm BB to have the proportions of the BB58 (?)

      @lulamacau859 4 года назад +1

      Billeh the design proportions of the BB58. 58’s thickness. The “BB41” could be less tall. The gold would look much nicer as well...

      If it doesnt bother you that's great. It takes a LONG time to fix

    While certainly robust, a bi-directional bezel is dangerous for diving. If the bezel gets knocked the wrong way, you add to your dive time instead of minimizing time at the bottom to preserve a margin of safety.
    This is a great watch. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the mail.
    Having Doxa put out a GMT, like they did before, would be really cool.
    Black tie? No problem. A beautiful black leather strap would look great.

    It's a great watch but the date window issues put me off buying. I ended up buying the black bay blue instead.

      The newer versions (post 2020) do not have this issue apparently. I got mine a month ago and its been perfect

      Got mine fixed after experiencing the issue, and haven't had problems since (knock on wood). I'm inclined to think they've been able to resolve the issue

      I've seen on tudor forums watches going back multiple times, it's quite a number that I've heard of too. This has been ongoing since release. Not nearly good enough for a luxury brand.

    I've owned the BB GMT for six months. Its an incredibly useful tool, but I have only one complaint--date wheel. Wish like most of the BB range, it didn't have the date wheel. Otherwise, I love the 72 hour power reserve, leather strap feels really comfortable (but the leather scratches incredibly easy), and its not too thick considering its based off a diver.

    Well, I bought a new BB GMT on December 26, 2019 from a Tudor/Rolex AD. I had it two weeks when the calendar wheel malfunctioned. I sent it to Rolex/Dallas, which put a new movement in it. I got the watch back and the winding stem malfunctioned -- right out of the Rolex/Dallas shipping box.(Did the Rolex CW21 even test it after installing the new movement? I do wonder.) Back to Rolex/Dallas it went the next day. Then, a month later, Rolex/Dallas shut down definitely because of the covid-19 epidemic. A poorly designed movement, then shoddy workmanship by Rolex/Dallas, has my watch in Rolex purgatory for who knows how long. I wonder if I'll ever see it again. I'm serious.

      Yeah the black bay case is so thick. If only they have the BB58 case on

    • @rousseau327
      @rousseau327 4 года назад +5

      It certainly doesn't wear like a BB58 or a GMT Master II, but approximately 2mm is the case back, which sits into your wrist when you wear it, and the bottom edge of the case is chamfered, giving it a slightly thinner look. Not to mention the domed crystal takes a bit of height too. Make no mistake, it's not a thin watch, but it wears much better in practice!
