I don’t think it’s gonna die, I think the player base currently active is getting tired and bored but has spent too much time/energy/money/etc into the game to swap. And it takes too long to learn something new.
Because the actual game itself is fun. How people play it strips away any sort of fun. Playing overwatch is like being forced to play with the kid nobody likes because they ruin the fun of every game but that kid is two entire teams.
For fps games it takes little time to learn one as fps is very simple. Point, shoot, use cover. Some I guess have abilities/characters which take a little more time but other than that fps is very straight forward.
Hot Take: I think many people don't seek other competitor's games due STRICTLY to the amount of time invested in learning their favorite characters, not to count if they spent MONEY on their favorite characters and feel some sort of obligation to remain hopeful that the game improves in their eyes so they don't feel like their investments were wasted.
Not really, while paladins has cool ideas, execution of a lot of them is horrible and balancing is not a priority to them. And many of the other so called hero shooters don't play anywhere the same as those two. Marvel rivals is in works rn so I won't comment on that

I don't think marvel rivals is trying to "mimic" overwatch. Just like how Paladins was in development at the same time as overwatch and ppl still call that game an overwatch clone. Marvel rivals is 3rd person with a destructable environment and team up abilities. I'm gonna be playing both rivals and ow2 🤷♂️
I've dedicated 7 years to Overwatch. It's not going to die, Blizzard won't let it die either. However, it's just in such a bad state. Even when we were stuck with double shield for 2 years, I still had fun, especially with the lower to mid level players not running it so much. I just think the game needs to do some legwork to get it back to where it was back in the first few seasons of ow2
One simple answer for this is it was one of the first to do it effectively. It’s similar to Smash Bros in that regard, since it was one of the first to make a really (stretch for overwatch) enjoyable, (somewhat) original game that wasn’t prominent in the market. It wouldn’t be a stretch to dedicate the popularity and the legacy of platform fighters to Smash. Overwatch is similar in this regard, and it will probably retain a general audience as long as Blizzard stops screwing up the marketing for Overwatch
Maybe if they dont take forever to make certain hero’s feel more balanced. Sojourn finally got nerfed as of lately after being broken as hell since her release. They need to step up their game if they want people to be happy playing their game.

The reason there is only OW for people is because Blizzard keep all of its competitors under its own company. Paladins is the only other example because only Indie titles can tell Blizzard to suck a fat one. Ive been playing OW since 2017, and since 2019 ive been hearing that OW is dead because of competitors, palladins was one the main kill factor for ow, but hey whos died now. Guys this game survived the no update/abandoned state, by this I mean after echo release if you can remember devs stopped any major updates, on that time I felt game falling because of only factor which is 4-5 minutes que time on peak hours. The game right now is extremely boring and like 90% of the reason is just from how people play. Playing against a pocketed pharah or a widow every match is not fun, matching those heroes is not fun. Countering in casual modes is not fun on either side of it. suzu and grip made more than half the ults just feel luck based and disappointing. And any sort of personal fun you try to have (even in casual modes) is just met with toxicity from teammates and the fun police on the other team shut it down.
You know why it has an active user account because people are getting suspended left and right they have to use different ACCOUNTS to be able to play I have 3 accounts suspended for a month that i had to use one that i havent used for ages These accs are endo lvl 4 and 5 and i rarely say anything in the chat let alone bad words while i see people say kys and hard R in the chat and playing ow While if i say boosted stack (when clearly there is one player boosting 3 other players in a comp game) and that stack reports me im gone lol Idk why tf im still playing this joke of a game tbh I still have fun in OW because i still feel like there are so many things i wanna try but this ban system is an ugly joke

You know why it has an active user account because people are getting suspended left and right they have to use different ACCOUNTS to be able to play
I have 3 accounts suspended for a month that i had to use one that i havent used for ages
These accs are endo lvl 4 and 5 and i rarely say anything in the chat let alone bad words while i see people say kys and hard R in the chat and playing ow
While if i say boosted stack (when clearly there is one player boosting 3 other players in a comp game) and that stack reports me im gone lol
Idk why tf im still playing this joke of a game tbh
I still have fun in OW because i still feel like there are so many things i wanna try but this ban system is an ugly joke
