I'm a Lifeweaver main myself, sadly I'm on the console platform but you sir have just opened my eyes to stuff I was unaware of and indirectly turned a blind eye as a result... Thank you for illuminating the path to provide life and weave life in my gameplays haha
That was α big thing I noticed as well, and he didn’t even mention it in the video. I’m assuming it only works if you are far away not up close, but maybe with high flicks you can still do it
I knew alot of this, but im glad you still made the video, alot of lifeweaver videos are extremely basic and new lifeweaver players struggle to find out tips like this, keep it up
this wasnt a negative comment btw, it was basic but I still learned a thing or two, alot of the LW videos are just explaining the controls or extremely basic stuff thats common sense, this was alot more indepth@@ReformedRavi
@@ReformedRavi one thing that could be useful for the more newbie players would be listing map names for map-specific tips like which staircases are blockable
Learned a lot from your vids even before this one, went from silver 3 to plat 4 and still climbing as LW only. Some counterplays you do are amazing and work very well not only in cool YT vids but also in actual matches. Good job, amazing content!
I am thrilled to see someone else use the legacy control scheme, I really think people didn't give it a chance and that it gives more ready access to his movement, especially extending the dash like Moira or Brigitte. My other control changes are that I put life grip on right click and petal platform on E. I also have the healing blossom on scroll wheel up and thorn volley on scroll wheel down, so I can't accidently scroll too far when switching between them, kinda inspired by an old recommendation on Zen for orb of harmony on up and orb of discord on down. The major thing I learned here is that you can heal past cage fight by lobbing the blossoms way up high
I have tip: That works in certain situations: you can use the pedal to “trip” enemies. Like if a roadhog pulls you in, you can sometimes throw the pedal under them to make him miss his first shot. This also works against doom and rein
To those who don’t like using legacy controls, the only reason to use legacy controls is cuz of Ramattras vortex (which is countered by Petal Platform thankfully). Whether you dash and then jump at the end, or jump and then dash, you cover the same amount of distance. Go test it. That being said, you’re an incredible LW :P
I play LW on PS5. I gave the workshop code a try and man some of those exercises (particularly the one to block Illiari’s ult with the tree so that no one gets hit) are nearly impossible to do 😅 Great video and channel showcasing the power of Lifeweaver 🌸
oh my god i love you, i main lw since he is in the game and you just learned me so much things xD, the dash on the ground could have saved me so much time, jumping to dash just takes to much time ..
I set Life Grip bound to both "E" and also one of the side thumb mouse buttons (mouse5). I've found that for most heroes, having their most important bound to mouse thumb button works wonders -- being able to use your key ability without taking any fingers off WASD makes a difference, it's worth the adjustment period.
question about the scroll wheel grip thing. can't you just hold down your grip key to have it auto activate when available? or does it not work like other abilities do
Wow, really neat video. Thanks for sharing. I really like Lifeweaver and want to be better with him. His kit is just so eclectic and crazy. Keep forgetting to grind him.
As a console Lifeweaver main I do suggest using Lt(or L2 for ps I think) as grip because it makes it so much easier to use. You have to have legacy settings though.
I just hope they eventually release the Dash Bind from Jump on the new control scheme in the future. Overall it's a lot more fluid for swapping between damage and healing, but the loss of mobility really hurts. I play Hybrid Controller/Mouse and if I could have Dash on L3, Platform on Mouse 4, and Grip on Scroll wheel, while still having Left Mouse being Heal and Right Mouse being Damage? I'd be THRILLED. Love the guide. Haven't learned anything new yet, but it's a well constructed guide that's a great introduction to Lifeweaver. One small piece of beginner knowledge that I feel people should know is that his damage is actually pretty good. When people are full Health, and you aren't anticipating incoming damage, spamming your thorns at chokes or corners where enemies are likely to emerge can be a boon, not only for the potential to get a pick, but for your Ultimate charge. On good rounds, I've been 15-20% ahead of the lobby on Ult Charge just because of the extra damage you can throw on top of his high healing output. Even in Masters, I still see enemy Lifeweavers end a match with like, 800 damage over the course of 15 minutes lol. Remember to use it when you aren't needed for healing.
i didn't know dash can heal myself... and that platform can cancel Sigma's Ult. I once used that weird jumping up heal(?) in 01:53 by pure chance, but i never thought i can use it like that. This is awesome. Learned a lot. thanks for vid!
I made it to Master 1 with lifeweaver and was struggling with climbing further. Most these tips I already know but some are still usefull ty :) I don't think I will be going to legacy controls, It might be better but I'm not interested in 100% optimization over comfort. The workshop code looks great, I need to try :)
Only question I have about your settings is why have interact cancel petal off? Seems bad to have to throw a new petal to cancel it while it's off cooldown
by the way, yesterday I play LW and I grab Ana in my team who is standing in the Mauga's enemy cage out. Like, she go through Mauga's cage wall and out O_O not sure if it just a bug or if LW can grab people out of his cage?
Don’t you ever get comments telling you to switch off because you aren’t playing Ana or kiriko? I want to be a one trick but I get people telling me to switch a lot
I dont join voice chat, too toxic. Just focus on your skills as a player and you will improve over time, id start by playing quickplay first though, no one wants an unexperienced lifeweaver on their team in comp
That small healing ammo thing with the platform is something I'm goign to be talking a little about it my next video! It's cool to see other people finding out these things as well!
is there a way to get the legacy jump but rebind thorn valley and healing blossom so they stay m1 m2? swapping weapons feels pretty bad i spent about 20ish minutes trying to rebind things and doing so was really clunky
lift winstons bubble away from him, throw a platform and hide against sombras (you can do it in her hack animation with good reaction speeds), other characters is a bit too vague because everyone needs a different approach
there is one part in the workshop code (the Illari ult cancel). I can't get that one to work. Am I meant to plant it just before it impacts? or am I just blocking it by predicting its trajectory? even when I predict it and I plant in front of it, it always hits a teammate off to the side of it, and when I plant directly on top of the projectile, sometimes I can eat it inside the tree, but sometimes the tree doesn't grow fast enough because the projectile is too high, and it inconsistently hits teammates anyway.
As someone who has been doing just about everything stated in this video, I have to ask...how do you get out of plat? I feel like I do everything in my power to be good petal man, so what holds me back?
Compared to the old lifeweaver, its alot easier to climb the ranks with him, not easy but easier. Poor bogur tortured himself just to get to GM with old LW.
I one tricked moira and then brig to top 500, i was thinking of doing life weaver next, was a nice few small techs to learn since i havent kept up really with overwatch too much since his release. (I didnt know you could break his tree willingly of course i always wished i could because it just consumes ult charge from yourself and team) also cool (although its 100% a bug you can shoot while out of ammo) and being able to angle your heal over shields (like the mauga ult) by aiming upwards. And honestly i always thought passive sup healing gave ult charge since it counts towards your leaderboard stat thats news to me (though of course shield regen wouldnt count towards anything) and being able to cancel sigma ult 100% also seems like a bug as other terrain doesnt work like that but cool that it works. Honestly confident i can do it though, saying i one tricked moira during their absolute worst state in ow2 meta history and i was new to support (peaked rank 300 that season end of season around 450 since took break) so how bad could life weaver be.
I'm glad u are being the lifeweaver content creator we all need, great video.

Same concept applies to any barrier. You can use that trick to heal people past Rein or Sigma Shields pretty reliably as well.
@@nebulous9280 yeah for sure! Seeing the mauga ult have so much height I didn’t realize it would work like when playing against sig/rein
mauga cage shield covers the top so this doesn’t work, and in the video the ana didn’t get healed too

depends how badly they need the healing, if they are low health then id throw them at around half charge
