A dad being like “you were with a girl? What’s wrong with you? Have you lost your mind” is so funny to me. Lord knows my family would be overjoyed, considering I’m gay btw
It truly was the pinnacle of 8o0mmer media. Like you either had a over controlling parent or one who gave absolutely 0 fucks about any of their off spring. Or you know a completely broken family because the divorce rate was obscene during the 70s/80s. The only sitcom of the era that wasn't total trash was Roseanne. She also called the Obama administration "planet of the apes." Hilariously based woman.
Sorry to double comment, but Nick could do the funniest original cartoon sketches with Saul and it would be 10x funnier than whatever the hell they’re doing now.
@@localwaterchamp7712this would mean nick has to stop being a misanthrope nihilist dickhead and look like he’s putting effort into something so probably not happening
I was in a work/drug/alcohol binge that basically lined up with the run of 7th Heaven, so I never saw a second of the show prior to this upload. I do remember Jessica Biel being criticized for wanting to branch out from it or leave altogether and man she was really smart for getting out when she did.
That guy who plays Dwight. The one Nick said is Tim Dillon. His name is Jason Davis. Started checking this this guy out. Been going at it for like an hour lol
This Jason guy is the grandson of a billionaire petroleum mogul lmao. He's very autistic. You can find videos of him here on youtube getting interviewed in LA like 15 years ago. Chris Chan tier. Crazy lol.
@@efflux89 Nah I think Nick said it on purpose so people search the guy who plays Dwight. This Jason Davis guy. The guy is a gold mine of autism. Got pictures with Trump on Getty images lmao.
What Nick is describing is the unfullfilled promise of authoritarian parenting. You can be a petty dictator IF you live up to principles and values you pass along. But most such dictators are just feckless but rich enough to expect success without too much actual character building
Funny that you say that. I had never watched the Show charmed before. I found myself in the downtown San Diego jail for a few months last year. They would play hours of Charmed every day, among other shit programming that I would otherwise be oblivious to
Glad someone else picked up on how wild and weird this show is. In the mid 2000s, my friends and I would imbibe and watch re-runs of this on antenna TV and be howling with laughter and/or wanting to punch the dad or the youngest son in the face by the end of each episode. I had a running jokey theory that 7th Heaven is actually archive footage of the Borg trying to understand humanity, which is why in each episode every family member deals with basically the same issue, at an age appropriate level. Like, in the episode you highlight, it's racism, and the episode covers each person's journey in solving it over the course of their 5-10 minutes of story time per episode. The only other explanation for it, would be that the people making this show were uncreative hacks, but clearly that's not the case. Things go even more off the rails when the middle daughter gets married and they delve deep into what is portrayed as completely normal behavior for a wholesome godly relationship, but in reality is some seriously psychotic shit. I can only imagine how this warped some folks world views if they watched it in earnest and without the cynicism and sense of irony that my friends and I had for it.
man I miss when sometimes you'd just turn on the TV and some fucking shitty awful show was playing and it was bad in a way where you could still have fun talking about it

As person that represent the 916. I still can't believe Nick knows about Elk Grove at 6:00. How the fck does he knows this city... which is indeed a suburbs of Sacramento. Light The Beam!
Growing up Catholic, I knew immediately something was off with 7th Heaven. Not so much about the Dad, he reminded me of a Priest who wanted to have sex with children. I just hated their fake happiness and problems. Not enough 90's alcoholism and domestic violence to feel like a real faith based family, that's the true uncanny valley of religious family shows.
I just remember being forced to watch this nightmare of a show in High School, usually in Humanities, Social Studies, or when the Guidance Counselor would come into our class. They’d pop in an episode of 7th Heaven accompanied by a BS worksheet.
After studying a little bit there are actually seven levels of heaven as they are multiple levels of hell. Christianity as it is nowadays just considers heaven to be one solid ground but there are multiple levels of heaven especially in the Gnostic view of heaven. Also I'm gay.

The thought of Nick just hanging out watching 7th Heaven in the 2020's is so funny to me.
I feel like he'd unironically do really well on Jeopardy!
Nick is on the upcoming season of celebrity jeopardy. He lost on the first episode. I was at the filming

While Tim Dillon was not that kid of 7th Heaven, he was on an ep of Sesame Street in '94. Which makes me think he was one of Elmo's victims.
Often molesters are people who were molested themselves, so it's possible Elmo was Tim's victim.
