- Our worst fear comes true as we get stranded somewhere between Surat Thani and Chumphon in Southern Thailand after our Suzuki 4X4 broke down on the busy highway. We had just left Koh Samui and our plan was to head to this amazing jungle villa in Chumphon but our truck, Rocket, had other ideas. We got lucky and unlucky and we'll share exactly how our day went in this new video. Thanks for watching and for coming along on this journey with us.

Thai hospitality is amazing!
U have over lifted the car and tires are too oversize. All u need is a 2” lift and some taller wider tires. U’ve gone over the top with this build. Been there done that. All the weight will strain the axle, drive train, suck up gas and with that height, even a small lean might topple it…and u don’t want that to happen.
The angle of ascent decend on these Suzukis are already amazing. Hence the 2” lift is more than enuff. Maybe a more offset tries will make it safer

Forgive me to say but my friends please put smaller wheels on it. The rotating mass is too much stress on drive train. First gearbox then diff then wheels bearings .. Also will be so much more comfortable to drive. Best of luck guys 🙏🙌
Oh no, sad start, but wow, how amazing are the Thai people helping you out. Seriously under 100USD, and they were so nice.
Looking back, this might be a good part of the trip to remember how friendly the people were.
Lets hope the rest of the journey gets back on track.

Just as we were getting hungry, the lady drove up with her mobile noodle shop! She was our angel at that moment haha

I just want to tell you that 'we've-been-there, done-that' on travel vehicle mayhem - 40 years ago in Japan and 30 years ago in remote BC, Canada. Many years later, those were the memorable trips. You guys handled situation calmly and you'd enjoy watching this clip many years later. Have a great remaining trip.

Happy to know that Thai people are helpful through and through. Since you are doing a lot of driving on this new adventure I wold recommend a battery pack that can help kick start your battery and charge your electronic things, engine oil, flashlight, water and air compressor. A solar system would be great too. It would be nice to see content on camping with Rocket in Thailand. Happy adventures to you both… Aloha from Hawaii!

Flora and Note Rocket was very upset that you were leaving the sun and he broke down. Loved seeing Flora’s eves pop while being towed and Notes hands holding the Steering wheel . Congrats you made it to the garage. Pork noodle soup yum. Hoped on a bike to get some cold drinks. Brought back outstanding memories seeing both of you on a bike again. WOW such a low price for 7 hrs of work. Everyone so nice and helpful. Absolutely Outstanding From Start To Finish

I've had my car break down on the side road many times. But I never had to ask for help from anyone. After a while, someone would come to park the car and help me own, even though I haven't asked from them for help yet.
So sad to see but i m sure Rocket will get through this and be ok from now on.

I remember the day we met in Samui. It was raining pretty hard and constant. When we were ready to leave you told me your car did not have windows, I felt really bad but you guys took it with a grain of salt and went about your day. I think Rocket is a huge upgrade! Safe travels and enjoy your trip!
Hahaha the windowless jeep made us appreciate Rocket so much more!

i like the video even though it was a little bit of a hiccup with the plans. It does capture interactions with the locals an how friendly they can be. Glad all turned out well in the end!
We've broken down on our motorbike many times over the years and every time we meet friendly locals who are willing to help. Thai people are so resourceful and kind!
Crazy how that repair cost under 100$ CAD. Here in Canada, they would charge you at least 5000$ CAD for the same repair.
Just an oil change alone would cost $100 in Canada 😅

Yeah the transmission was turning but the transfer case wasn't engaged, that part they welded on is what engages it.

Loving that a roadblock turned into an adventure and the way you both handle this roadblock is so good, it could have been worse, thankfully it wasn't.
