HAKA - Toia mai/Ka mate!

This was a very emotional day. The death of our beloved brother, David Talanoa shocked us to the core. From the moment we heard the sad news, ex-members of NGA TANGI A TE IWI and close family & friends gathered to pay tribute to him and on the day of his funeral, well, it was very emotional. In this video, you see up close the raw emotions clearly expressed in the faces of the men and the power, the passion, the love and respect we have for David and his family. Rest in Peace xxx You are eternally in our hearts and thoughts.

Thank you #KingsAndJesters... our brother David Talanoa was half Australian, half Tongan. I'm a New Zealand born Cook Islander living in Australia.
In our teens, we did a project about Polynesian culture. In our teens, our Polynesian youth were seen as "ruffians" and getting up to mischief, so we wanted to show case a culture that represents our true worth as Polynesian people but most importantly, it kept our younger brothers out of mischief and off the streets. We learned New Zealand Maori and Rarotongan Maori song and dance. The Haka is well known and one that conveys the emotions we wish to project from within.

Thanks for the Haka history, I've watched on TV since the early 90s the Haka ritual prior to Tri-Nations year in year out! Not able to get Tri-Nations but I get Six Nations trade off these days! Your history you tell is the best it's been told to me. Thanks, I'd buy ya pint if you were a bit closer! I have played rugby for 25 yrs an never enjoyed life so much! CHEERS MATE! 🏉🍻🌎

this is heart warming. my friends mum died and she was loved by everyone at our school. this is the same haka we will be using to send a loved one to heaven. we will be using two other waiata to and just te waka for her tangi
