This is seriously the best. I love how you are not afraid to be yourself and come out and that's a strong characteristic many people wish for! you should be proud and happy of who you are and not let anybody ruin your life or mood. You are who you are. and people will love you for the true you!
I liked how you started out with "boundaries don't exist", It surprised me to hear that you- someone acts and appears so strong- have been having an inner battle with yourself since the SIXTH GRADE! The Hannah Montana reference was amazing, your smiles you get when you started talking about finally getting in a relationship made me smile along with you, that rollercoaster you had with your parents sounds truly saddening, but I'm glad you're strong enough to go through it! Never stop smiling! :)
I'm a senior in high school, never really publicly "came out" but I've told some ppl. I've even told my parents (which I regret) but at this point I do not care who knows. I'd prefer for ppl not to know, but all the friends that I've told really didn't care which surprised me. If anything, they didn't want me to be flamboyant, which was fine since I am "straight-acting" anyways.
This is one of the best coming out videos I have ever seen. You're smart, thoughtful, and eloquent and you're describing your inner thoughts so detailed and precisely. For these reasons this video is definitely going to help many young people who are in a similar situation. I watched this video several times because I like it so much ... and your personality.
Hey, I used to watch you're videos all the time, but then I disappeared from youtube for a year and now that I'm back, I started watching them again. I really enjoy you're videos and I'm happy that you are comfortable with who you are after all that struggling. Stay strong dude :)
I found your video very moving and your experience of coming out to yourself very much resonated with my own many years ago - in particular the discovery of just how many layers of selves there are to come out to. Those layers are designed I think to be protective but, like a kind of emotional scar tissue, can prevent us from being fully sensitive to the truth of what we feel. You have bravely begun to dare to feel.
I'm glad you're getting the encouragement from your friends. Hopefully, your parents will wake up eventually. It just sounds like they're having a tough time coming to grips with your news. :)
You should be so proud of yourself Matt. It takes a lot to come out, but in the end it's one of the best things you can do to no longer censor yourself in any way. But I'm so glad that I can call myself your friend, and I'm so happy that I could be a part of your coming out in any way. :)
Thank you for your story. I grew up in a small town in Idaho, and by the time I realized what I was, I literally thought I was the only gay in the state. It took every ounce of mental ability I had to watch myself to make sure I didn't act or talk gay. The burden of being on constant guard against my own nature was crushing. Please make an up-date, and finally re-post that live coming out video
I agree 100% with the labels stuff at the beginning. Part of my whole acceptance struggle was trying to find a label that fit what I was feeling. Turns out, the labels are for OTHER ppl to classify you. They aren't for you to classify yourself. I like guys and girls, both to different degrees, but I wouldn't call myself bisexual. Others will call me that, I'm just being me.
I feel that you have gone through so much turmoil learning to cope with your sexuality that it cost you a precious part of your youth. But on the other hand that struggle build something strong inside you. Far too many gentle souls did not survive the struggle. I hope you have a wonderful life filled with love and happiness. You have earned it.
You know I'm proud of you and all that good ish. The video was super intriguing and I feel like your story in middle and high school will be able to correlate with other people and the world and everyone's just going to love this and I'm so proud of you, again. I just think you're awesauce and I know you know xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox
I think its brave of you to post such an honest video. I can relate to a lot of the stuff you spoke about through your school years. I don't know how much it means coming from a stranger on the internet, but the coming out process is by no means an easy one and you should be proud of yourself.
I love what you said about labels and about how other openly gay people were 'flamboyant' and that you thought you would have to talk like that. I think that's the worst thing that people do - they put labels on others and just expect them to act a certain way and stick to themselves. My aunt is gay, and even though she's out she's not like, obvious about it. Because to me, she's just a person. Being gay isn't WHO you are, it's just a PART of who you are. That's the way I see it anyway :)
This is the whole reason I subscribed to you! This is like my all time favorite and helpful video on RUclips! Thank you so much for your stories and being so open!
this is amazing...I came out last march and i watched this video and i was inspired to tell my parents, they didn't know and now they don't care. just wanted to say thank you x
very courageous!! your message of "unboxing" is important because we are not better/worse than others, it's like you said just for others to have a term for us. you are right about that no one is different & that we all should have the same value and treatement as anyone. looking forward to hear about your success in coming out. I think that you are doing a really great job with making all these funny and great videos! keep this positive attitute and never stop working on your future! regards :)
also, I totally get the parents wanting you to take it down thing...they attacked me when they learned I had youtube and said that I couldn't talk about family life and issues and such and so I had to show them tons of videos to prove what I was doing was okay
hey guys! if you see comments from hateful people, don't even reply to them. They just want attention. If we don't give them any, they'll just get frustrated and leave.
you are so strong and intelligent and super great person. You're parents are so concerned about what others think instead of their son's feelings. Hopefully they've come around. If not, they need time to accept it for themselves but it's not their place to put their thoughts on you. They're values aren't any better than yours. You're a fantastic human being.
You go glen coco! Seriously tho, this is inspiring I think. I hope people will look up to you for this. You're an amazing person. I've been watching your RUclips videos for so long now. And I've met you once actually lol. But this video is amazing. I don't even know what else to say besides that. Just wow c:
When you first posted this video, I never would have dreamed that I would have a coming out story...but now here I am...I just started the process 2 days ago. I've told 4 friends so far...my parents? I'll figure that one out later...it's been tough. This is, by far, the hardest experience of my life. I'm emotionally wrecked to the point where I'm not eating and losing sleep...I just want it to be over.
Thank you for your comment. It's not something I worry about TBH (my parents). Being gay wasn't my choice but I am blessed in a way as it lets you see the world from all points of view. We know what it's like being the underdog and I kinda always feel for the underdog in any situation in life and I can look at something from all sides. It's one of the few plus's on being gay. Given the choice at birth I would have picked straight but I just get on with it in my own quiet way.
ur so great! society sucks but with more people like you in the world, it rly could become a better place. thanks for sharing your story with us! its meant alot. THANK Y0U!
It seems like this go's full circle. I admire you for the same things you admire other gays for and suddenly find myself feeling better about myself being gay because I see how inspiring different gays can be. It's like a brotherhood that supports each other and we all understand the pain and trials we all go through, and that makes us stronger, prouder and happier. Your so lucky to have Grant, he has the most gentle spirit and open heart of anyone I've me here on youtube. He is special!
omg, so relieved your parents were ok with it!! I was scared for u lol! so happy youve come out - I hate that society is the reason you had to go through that inner struggle for so long.. not fair, glad u r happy now!
Not in the way we think it does. Obviously people can be African, Asian, European, and stuff like that, but there is no clear cut off between these. There is no geographic line that says people born on this side will be Asian, and people born on this side will be European. It's all a big broad spectrum of tiny differences. underneath the skin color, we're all completely the same.
Oh when you started talking I was like, god the same exact thing happened to me, I was the same about not accepting it and not even acknowledging it. I think I am gonna make a video about my coming out story some day. You are so cute, I am glad things ended up fine with you! xx
They will accept you in time. 90% of the people freaking out now will forget about it in time. Just keep your head up and know that you're strong and beautiful. I know you are. And make sure to find some REAL friends that will love and accept you for who you are. they will stick with you through the tough times. I'm always here if you want to send me a message. Just stay positive and keep breathing
Glad you posted this video! Feel proud to be gay and feel happy that you posted your video! Tell straight to your parents that you feel gay and there is no reason to hate you because you posted this without telling them! Wish you all the very best in your life being in a relationship with someone that deserve you as the best because you are an awesome person!
Thanks for sharing that story. I can see why you cried so much- because after everything in your head and trying to suppress that you were gay over all that time when you finally accepted it and felt comfortable about it you felt like you were being pushed backwards. But just be yourself and be happy and do what you feel. Don't care so much about what others think and feel- live and enjoy your life! You're really cute btw! I also live a few hours from Ft. Wayne Indiana.
Way to go kiddo, i never have understood why family feels this is a bad thing, their shame is deplorable, but i can tell your tough and smart, so Good Job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
your a beautiful individual . your very brave. and honestly watching your video makes me feel better about being who i am. your going to change peoples lives ! fuck these haters.

I've already come out though.... and I can name hundreds of people that want to know and do know and still love me. And last time I checked, I haven't worn diapers since I was a baby.
I've always loved you and your videos and stuff and this video has only made me respect you more. I just want to say I'm so proud if you and don't ever believe you don't deserve love and support. :)
I'm really happy for you (: Also I'm kinda surprised at the amount of people that commented they knew you were gay... I am gay and naturally I tried to figure out if you were too in the past few months that I've been watching your videos but I wasn't sure and assumed that if you never said anything you were straight...
Great story. Glad you have come to terms. You would be missing out on so much if you had kept on hiding and wondering. Just be safe with others. Enjoy your life, you will be just fine.
I didn't know you were gay - and you're right, it doesn't matter. I didn't even think about your sexual orientation, so this video was a surprise! Thank you for sharing! I hope it helps others, too.
What a great story Matt! I've watched it before but thought I'd check it out again. I don't want to sound stalkerish, but this video makes me love you so much! You are amazing and for some reason everytime I watch your videos it makes me really happy! You are so smart and your thoughts are so well organized I get something from you everytime I watch your videos. Thanks for posting these they always have something that helps me in my everyday life. Your the best!
You can't pray away the gay! I love you so much Matt! I'm happy that your comfortable with yourself, its the best feeling in the world to be happy with who you are. I'm ,again, so happy that your getting the love that you deserve, and trying to help others get the same positive and supportive response that they deserve to! :)
Hi Matt, I’m 64 years old. I have degrees from 3 different university’s and at this point I was surprised about how little I learned about life. If you feel you need to label yourself, then use the term Pansexual . When you love someone, you love their soul. When you love their bodies, that’s just lust. Education will never replace life experience. Love who you love. That’s the only thing that’s important. I myself fell in love with a so called straight man and we stayed together for 26 years until he passed away. It’s time parents start raising their kids right.
I have to say you're very well spoken a pleasure to listen to coming out for me was different sometime a little older but I never really had any issues with it! I can listen to you speak forever :)
you'll honestly never know until you try! Be strong and love yourself and if you try something with a guy and end up not liking it, that is completely ok :)
So happy you posted this I literally like started to tear up when you were talking about you and grant, and when you were having a breakdown. I hope you didn't get upset because I was the one tweeting with you about your sexual orientation I'm pretty sure it was before your time with grant. Any ways I feel like your parents true reason for wanting the video down is because they need time to process it within the family before being ok with everyone knowing I'm really glad they took it well tho
A whole 19:21 of pure perfection. Matt you are incredible. I have never met anyone more amazing. I support you. I agree with you. You're still the cutest most adorable and funny guy I found from Ashley Mardells channel. I don't regret anything. I love you for who you are not what you are. Sometimes I have mixed feelings about what I am, but usually it comes out as straight, but that's not the point. Im glad you came out and told the world. Im happy for you and Grant. I want you to be happy.
That's all that matters. My best friend an I were talking about homosexuality a while back an she said someone is not born gay. She said its a decision that people can change. No. It's a feeling you get that you can't stop. If God didn't like other sexualities then why did he put them on the Earth like this. My best friend is a complete homophobe but I don't understand why. If its what makes you happy then so be it. You deserve that. I love you Matt. Thank you for sharing you story.

I was inspired to create my own coming out story on my channel after watching this video, thank you so much for this! xo
that was really selfish of your parents that they made your coming out experience about themselves. thank you for being vulnerable with us ❤
aww i got mentioned! Great video Matt, proud of you!
your a beautiful individual . your very brave. and honestly watching your video makes me feel better about being who i am. your going to change peoples lives ! fuck these haters.
Aw, Matt. I loved you before this video, and I love you still--no more, no less. But I'm proud of you! Glad you've come to terms with yourself :) Go Matt!!
can you not
What your parents are going through is sort of like when someone comes out. They need to learn to ignore the hateful-faithful & other ignorant people.
You are an absolute delight to listen to. Your wisdom and intelligence is outstanding for such a young guy. You are so very and interesting... you kept me captivated. I'm 59 btw... and I've listened to a lot of people in my life but none as articulate as you. I wish you nothing but success in your journey in life.
this is basically the exact same plot of the hannah montana movie
I stand corrected! thank you for the link - very informative, i enjoyed reading that!
Matt, I'll love you forever and always, baby. Never change. :3
well done dude you explained your coming out perfectly! one of the better stories you know yourself well.

I've already come out though.... and I can name hundreds of people that want to know and do know and still love me. And last time I checked, I haven't worn diapers since I was a baby.
Great story bud . We all have to face it sometime, but just remember; It is great to dream and look ahead than to look back and regret.
Amazing story Matt. Respect. You will be an inspiration to many, both straight and LGBT.
This is really inspiring, glad to hear you're coming out story!
I'm 15 and i came out to both my parents just two weeks ago and it was really easy to relate to almost everything you said :)

~thumbs up~ Welcome to the family! thank you for sharing your coming out story and the struggles to accept yourself, also you are very cute!

You can't pray away the gay! I love you so much Matt! I'm happy that your comfortable with yourself, its the best feeling in the world to be happy with who you are. I'm ,again, so happy that your getting the love that you deserve, and trying to help others get the same positive and supportive response that they deserve to! :)
I totally agree with your opening monologue about sexuality !! :) your "mental war" was exactly what I went through (for about 8 years!!!)
I agree with Luc.
You are such a sweetheart!!
Love you, Matt!
I have to say you're very well spoken a pleasure to listen to coming out for me was different sometime a little older but I never really had any issues with it! I can listen to you speak forever :)
I'm so so so proud of you :)
you'll honestly never know until you try! Be strong and love yourself and if you try something with a guy and end up not liking it, that is completely ok :)
Thank you for sharing your coming out story. You're the best!!!
EVERYONE IN SOCIETY NEEDS TO HEAR THE FIRST MINUTE OF THIS VIDEO!!!! Great job!
hey there matt ! enjoyed your CO video best of luck for the future x
they are completely normal :) thank you!
