Good day Mr Van. Fantastic gear reviews, I really enjoy watching them! If I watch Champion Helmets' reviews, I fall asleep. In your personal capacity (for commuting/touring) would you prefer the Scorpion 1400, or the Nolan/X-lite X903 ? They seem to be direct competitors, both with a fibreglass/carbon option, and rest of the features pretty similar.
One of the best reviews I came across, thanks! Newbie rider here, off to get my first ever helmet, course is upcoming. I’ve been checking out this one from Scorpion, and the HJC RPHA-70. Both do fit snug and comfy, nice reviews, hard to decide. Anyone who’s been riding in it who can add some riding advice? Thanks!
These are all very different helmets IMO. The Pista GP R is a very race track focused helmet with massive vents and a big field of vision. The ST-1400 is a street focused helmet with a drop down inner shield, good ventilation and lots of value at the price. The RF-1200 is a helmet that is at home on the street or the track, super versatile and does everything very well. Hope this helps. - Van
Hi there, great videos! How would this compare to the r1 composite? Weight, performance, fit etc mainly for street riding with very occasional track use , really struggling to decide between the two, thanks 🤙🏿
End of the day the biggest difference between the two will be the R1 Air venting better. When you have a helmet with a drop down shield the vent on the crown has to be moved which reduces it's effectiveness. If you are going to do track riding of any sort I prefer a helmet without a drop down inner shield for sure. This will get you a better field of vision and more ventilation. - Van
Quick question. Today I received this exact helmet. Unfortunately, it got delivered damaged. The box inside the main box was already opened and the internal sunvisor was broken on the sides. I took this out and looked at the clips of it, the exact ones you warned us about and they were completely broken off. Now at first I thought not much of it and had no problem just replacing it, however I noticed something different of which I am not sure if it's supposed to be like this. Now when you use the slider to drop the visor down, only the right side of the mechanism (if you face the helmet) responds to the slider, the left side of the mechanism doesn't move at all. I can move it with my finger, but it seems completely detached from the inner mechanism that is connected to the slider. My question is whether this is supposed to be like this and only the right side is supposed to respond to the slider or if theyre both supposed to go up and down?
If you bought this from us we will get you taken care of. Perhaps this was a return that was not inspected properly. Shoot us an email to orders@sportbiketrackgear.com and we will get you sorted. If you bought this somewhere else you will need to contact them. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thanks for replying, Van! I did not buy this from you guys as I am located in Europe. I found out that the mechanism is supposed to be this way and am getting my visor replaced. Thanks for the quick response, though.
Had this helmet almost a year and found its getting louder wind sound when wearing it. Nothing has changed Still same speeds and gear on. Is it normal for helmets to get louder. Above 60mph cant hear the coms system anymore.
There is enough clearance to accommodate most eyeglasses. Try the glasses when you try the helmet on to make sure it will fit before you ride in it so you can send it back if they do not fit the way you expect to avoid any hassles. - Van
The only way to know is to try. IMO you should wear ear plugs with any helmet to protect your ears. Also important to note any helmet that vents well will make some noise. - Van
Intermediate oval headed guys be like, I can buy any helmet I want. Long oval headed guys be like, another awesome helmet....that I can't fit. Some people have said the clear lens coupled with the smoked inner visor works well, except for the greenhouse effect from the sun. I hope they are making the inner visors as dark as a dark-smoke outer these days.
If you plan to use the drop down inner then go with the ST-1400. No plans to use the drop down inner then the EXO-R1 Air is 100% the right choice. Both are excellent helmets. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear Thank you, I was wondering the same thing. I ordered the Air, ill let you know if I see any differences, Honestly, I think its the exact same thing, SKUs are different though.
@@sportbiketrackgear hi mate, would you consider using this helmet without the face shield (utilising only the sun visor), for riding in extreme heat/humidity?, also can you pleasd advise how much clearance is between the sun visor and the closed face sheild? At the sides Ta!
The included face shields are different. The EU model has a pre-installed clear shield and comes with an extra tinted shield, and both has pinlock pins. The US model comes with both shield in clear, but the pre-installed one has no pinlock pins.
I don't understand why they wouldn't supply with a dark visor, why give another clear visor right off the back? I'm sure within 6 months if I damage the original visor, I'd have no problem paying 40 bucks for another one, but it sucks that they wouldn't provide a smoke visor. Smh..
This helmet includes the tinted drop down inner shield and they do not want to give riders the idea it would be acceptable to ride with 2 tinted shields at the same time. IMO most riders who purchase this helmet really like the flexibility of the tinted inner drop down shield with the clear outer so they will get more value from the free clear outer in the long run. - Van
My head is 58.5 cm. Stuck between medium and large. Can't find anyplace to try this on near me in NH so I'll need to order online. Any advice on which size I should get? Thanks!
So let me answer my own question. I ordered the large and it fits perfectly. The medium would have been way too small. If your head is even slightly larger than 58cm, get the large. This helmet is very comfortable.
I would say the external size of the shell for the 1400 is inline with what we see from most brands on the market. There are a couple of exceptions, even those are not a major difference. - Van
Wow, best international youtube review for this helmet, thank you!
You are welcome and thank you for watching! - Van
FINALLY!! Thank you mr. Van for the helmet review!! 😊😊😊

Does It comes in gloss version ?
Outstanding review as always
Thank you for watching! - Van
When removing internal sunvisor you must be careful, clips may break. Mr. Van showed the correct way.
And thank you for very good review!!!

I have not seen the Nolan but can tell you I really like this ST-1400. IMO Scorpion has hit a home run with this one for sure. - Van
Great review, do a followup from your riding experience with it please. Would also like to see you install a comm system in it if you have done so.
I have ridden in this helmet and really like it a lot. Vents well, pretty quiet and is super comfortable. - Van
Always the best review 😉💪
Thanks man, appreciate that! - Van
Van, i have 58' head size as you... medium will be good enough or not?
Love the carbon look
Better in gloss
What is the vis9bility out the sides and in the tuck position like?

Hi , which one is more quiet , the r1 or this one? Thanks , great review as always!!
IMO the R1 and this one pretty much sound the same while riding. - Van
How would you rate this against the scorpion r1? I realize that the 1400 has a visor but besides that what sets them apart?
They are completely on par with one another IMO. The only real difference having used both is the inner drop down shield. - Van

How does the helmet fit? Try adding a couple of pumps to the cheek pads and see if that helps out. - Van
Hi van, how is the wind noise in this helmet? Is it very loud or loud that is tolerable?
This helmet is pretty darn quiet IMO. - Van
I take a chance here... which position of the top vent is ON versus OFF ? In front egal OFF ?
It has been a while since I have worn this one but I am pretty sure back is open. - Van
I’m a medium in agv
Does it match the agv size or should I size up or down
I would say this runs consistent with AGV helmets. - Van
What’s the difference between this model and the EXO R1?
how to replace the nose guard or called breath guard. can buy them, how to replace (Scorpion Exo 510/1400 Breath Guard 12.19 CAD)
That should just slide right in between the chin bar EPS and the shell of the helmet. - Van
I got one question about new 2022 red or blue scorpion 1400 carbon helmet coming out!
Sorry there are no red or blue colors available here in the US in this helmet. - Van
How will this work in the rain. I heard the top vent leaks
I have not ridden in this in the rain so I can not say for sure. - Van

Hi there,
Does the internal visor come in different shades???
This is only available in a dark smoke shade. - Van
Many these helmets seems to have "st" in us, in Europe it sells just as scorpion exo 1400 air. Would you still recommend this helmet today? Thanks.
Yes this is an excellent helmet. We have a lot of happy customers riding in these. - Van

Any reviews for the scorpion r1?

This or the bell star mips? which one would you recommend?
Totally different helmets as this one offers a drop down inner screen. If you are looking for that option this is a great helmet IMO. - Van
