+billy thorton Cars are made to be driven, and they were originally designed for military use, and, in most cases, were not used on roads unless available, so. It became a fashion statement, and they're still monster boxes, definitely overpriced boxes, but a good used one is a god tier car in the right hands.
+Andrew MckayThankfully in spain there's not to much fancy g wagons , most of them are use for off road or country labours I love the g wagon , because once when i was a chld i go off roading with my uncle and we get stuck in the snow for 3 hours , later a snowplow try to get out but break the sling support and can't do nothing but suddenly a G wagon appears from the snow and free us from the snow with a winch . sorry for my english ;)
After Matt tested the G-wagon AMG I was disappointed that it was terrible on the road, mainly because I really like them. I'm glad to see someone actually using one for what it was made it do. This is such an awesome build...
People: I'm listening to this video on an iPhone internal speaker and can hear everything perfectly clearly. If you're saying you can't hear, it's because your hardware sucks. This isn't the greatest audio recording in history, but if I can hear it clearly on a cell phone's shitty speaker, the problem isn't the levels in the video.
he did a couple favors for them and he got a good deal...what were those favors Serg? Disposal of sorts? 😅 Serg you are the man for using this car for what it is made for!
Who else would buy a G than Russians, haha. This was a very cool video I gotta say, and I'm glad someone's using them what they were built for originally!
I love engineers. Such a delightfully insane lot. Whether it's writing five hundred lines of code from scratch in notepad so the only thing you have to do next time is press a button, or overthinking the solution to a simple problem to such a degree that it also solves five other problems you didn't even know you had, their odd sort of proactive laziness never ceases to amuse and impress me.
Major respect for Sergei and Ilya! I have been on these trails at Hungry Valley many times on my motocross bike. Those hills are seriously steep and rutted in some parts and I would have been the guy on the motocross bike with my jaw on the ground giving him the big thumbs up!! Awesome to see someone with balls big enough to tackle this terrain in a G500 and use it the way it was designed... to go off road and not just for cruising to the mall !! great job guys!
Amazing! Extensive off-roading in the service with an armored G290 CDI and even when weighed down by the armor the G is a beast! Much love for the car and the episode, good job on showing what the G is for.
Was looking forward to this after listening to the podcast, not disappointed. One of the coolest one takes to date. I actually occurred to me that Matt doesn't always have to drive, if it's a really unique car we probably get to see it in a better light if the owner drives it.
This guy is my hero... I should have followed in his footsteps and bought a used g wagen instead of a ford... This is one of my all time favorite vehicles...
Coolest guy featured on the show so far, and great truck! I want to build an "expedition" car like this, but my budget is pushing me more toward an 02-03 Xterra.
+Furkan Turfanda I would do some research, if I recall correctly the early 2000 X-Terra's have an issue where the radiator leaks onto the transmission or something and destroys the transmission and the radiator.
+TheCobruhAlienat0r the 2005+ automatic xterra, Titan,fx35 and pathfinder were all prone to that. Luckily it's a free mod to route the coolant away from the tranny
roy kwon Yeah, but unless the owner at the time took their vehicle in for the recall when it was open then I don't think you could pull up to a Nissan dealer right now and ask them to fix what was in the recall.
I like how the driver is just straight up and honest lol knows what he is capable of doing with his ride and what he can't even admit something wasn't impressive lol
I've never had a problem with any audio quality on this channel that I wasn't warned about. Also, even when I was warned about it, I still enjoyed the video. It's RUclips people, it's free entertainment. Stop being panzies complaining about wind noise, appreciate the fact he produces these videos consistently.
All the right mods without screwing it up - mild lift, good shocks, off-road tires, skid plates. I'd add a winch, but that's it. Super capable with old-school Mercedes quality.
This is a fair review of G class! Judging for any G even G63 by the sports car criteria is the same like judging Corvette Z01 by its off-road abilities.
Great video. I like this kind of off roading. He's got a cool truck modified in a particular way so roaming around the boonies is fun. Thanks for posting.
Crashryding yeah i was ab to say russians and germans always take these off road. in the US its way different, rich girls at my college daily drive them smh never see offroad one time
Awesome man with an awesome truck. Love seeing that thing used for its actual purpose and not as a fashion statement. What an awesome vehicle, and for the price once depreciated it's hard to beat!
i like the comment he made on people buying cars they cant afford to enjoy. i see tons of beautiful new rubicons modified to the extreme and never go offroad. i could drive down the street right now and point out 10 in 10 minutes.
MarchuxProductions Not if the person actually cares for their rig. You can't tell mine goes off road unless you crawl underneath to look at the skids, or get within a couple of feet to see the pin striping.
Matt: Thanks for giving the G-Class some love! :) As much as I want one of the ROW spec G-Wagons with more utilitarian features , the abundance of fully optioned (or over optioned) G-Wagons in the USA, makes buying a used, fully optioned, version a tempting purchase. Let's see more off road video test drives!
Wow. Inspirational. Nice job Serg! Thanks for giving the g class another go Matt and sharing with us. There's always something amazing to discover in those things that initially seem impractical (:
So let me get this straight, Matt. You went to a ride in a back of a G-Wagon with couple Russians...who obtained the car at a considerable discount due to favors...which they built for shooting trips with custom gun racks...and had you come out to an area with no reception...after you disapproved of their favorite vehicle of choice LMAO This is amazing. Best piece of comedy in a long while. Great video!!!
This was my favorite One Take in a while, nice location choice to demonstrate the abilities of the G500. The audio is FINE people, the only negative in that department is the wind noise on the mic in the exterior portion. Definitely fine, but wind muff would improve it even more. Keep up the good work Matt, love waking up to these every few days!
I was running a similar setup on my gwagen with Orc lift springs and resi fox 2.0 shocks on 33" BFg at's. That thing was a beast and I will own one again. For now my aev ram will do 😎
Dude don't even acknowledge these haters about the audio... it's fine, and it's been fine since the beginning. It's free content, idk what these people are complaining about
Musician and audio guy here. Minus the total knockout from wind at beginning, it sounds fine on my big speakers at home. And for the record, getting good sound is exponentially more expensive than good video. Any iPhone can do flawless video for most consumers with good vibration reduction. But good audio, multiple mics, and level control normally requires a sound guy and equipment that would require trading in car to fund (a la Bluesmobile in The Blues Brothers). Also, +TheSmokingTire if you are going to be sponsored by Harry's Razors, you really should shave in the back of the G-wagon while going offroad (safer than getting a tattoo like Henry Rollins once did in a Hummer).
Great video! These one take videos are some of the best car content on youtube. Why does everyone bitch about a microphone when Matt constantly produces really interesting free content?
Really like this owner and his philosophy on this car
+billy thorton
he does seem to have a cool attitude about it.
+billy thorton I like how he was confident about his G's abilities. Very impressive!
+WikdSeafood If he was clocked doing 105mph off road, he knows his G-wagen.
+billy thorton Cars are made to be driven, and they were originally designed for military use, and, in most cases, were not used on roads unless available, so. It became a fashion statement, and they're still monster boxes, definitely overpriced boxes, but a good used one is a god tier car in the right hands.
nice to see a g class used for its real purpose not bloomingdales
+Andrew Mckay
so much this
the g wagons are originally military vehicles not grocery getters and mall crawlers
Exactly. Serge gets it.
Indeed, a silly showing of wealth.
Well said.
+Andrew MckayThankfully in spain there's not to much fancy g wagons , most of them are use for off road or country labours
I love the g wagon , because once when i was a chld i go off roading with my uncle and we get stuck in the snow for 3 hours , later a snowplow try to get out but break the sling support and can't do nothing but suddenly a G wagon appears from the snow and free us from the snow with a winch .
sorry for my english ;)
"That was impressive Serge!"
"No, that was not"
haha classic russians
In Soviet Russia, car impresses you
I love how Serg is never happy enough with it. "That was great!!" "No, it was not..."
+Nick S I like their style.
That behaviour is also pretty german too.. something about mid- to eastern-europe makes people pessimistic :D
After Matt tested the G-wagon AMG I was disappointed that it was terrible on the road, mainly because I really like them. I'm glad to see someone actually using one for what it was made it do. This is such an awesome build...
Make another video its been 2 weeks!!
+Aj Warne haha we put out a video on Sunday as well as another one about an hour ago! Like us on Facebook and Instagram to stay updated :p
+Roads Untraveled They don't handle well but they're still fun to drive
its wagEn

people seem to forget they can adjust volume levels on their computer
+TheSmokingTire The audio is perfectly fine. Don't stoop to tard level. You're a professional.
+TheSmokingTire Audio was better than average I think
Audio sounded fine to me.
+TheSmokingTire
Don't cater to the laptop speaker crowd, Keep up the good work!
he did a couple favors for them and he got a good deal...what were those favors Serg? Disposal of sorts? 😅 Serg you are the man for using this car for what it is made for!
Seriously Serg is awesome. I want to hang out with this guy.
+Dash Cam California 30k in 2007 is a fucking steal. THESE THINGS ARENT EVEN 30K 9 YEARS LATER IN 2016!!!!
it was stolen.
he protected the border of the US against illegal imigrants for them.
+ye ye how do you know it was stolen? where are ur facts at bro
+FerrariLamborghini24 Sarcasm
Love the license plate "G Klasse"! Shows he loves the car!
Wow, even the 2003 model looks pretty good.
+archinuk417 Even the 1980 model looks good. It's the same car throughout the years, isn't it :)
No. Major changes in 90.
Same body forever
Love the set up, and the owner explanation, what a beast
Who else would buy a G than Russians, haha. This was a very cool video I gotta say, and I'm glad someone's using them what they were built for originally!
+Tomáš T.
they do seem to love them
+Jeff K yes and no)
it's some categories who love them. and even in russia most of them, i think, are not ethnic russians.
+zloychechen5150 Ethnic Russians love them too.
KirillVL in smaller numbers
zloychechen5150 I don't think so, every Russian I know likes them.
I love engineers. Such a delightfully insane lot. NICE Sergei, Hutchinsons, Warn winch, roof rack, coil overs, headers, all made a difference, Epic ride.

i watched this video with a grin on my face.... gotta love the g wagon for what it was built for. nice vid guys
This dude KNOWS what he;s doing .Love that, and his vehicle!!! (G)500 thumbs up.
30k for a g-wagon is a hell of a deal
Juan Franco For a 20yr old G. Yes indeed. They hold their value decently.
I come from the future, you can't buy any 2000s g wagen for 20k lmao.
Cause it’s not the fancy AMG models that we’re used to, it’s a base G500 model that’s from 16 to 20 years ago.
G Wagon is LIFE
Was looking forward to this after listening to the podcast, not disappointed. One of the coolest one takes to date. I actually occurred to me that Matt doesn't always have to drive, if it's a really unique car we probably get to see it in a better light if the owner drives it.
Good morning gear heads.
good afternoon
+Dušan Pešić greetings, kind sir
+Scooby blue good afternoon and this is nice
+Dušan Pešić good afternoon
Good morning. nicest comment on RUclips :D

I want to build an "expedition" car like this, but my budget is pushing me more toward an 02-03 Xterra.
An xterra is a goodie lol from what I know they're reliable as shit and they just look good lol former owner
+Furkan Turfanda I would do some research, if I recall correctly the early 2000 X-Terra's have an issue where the radiator leaks onto the transmission or something and destroys the transmission and the radiator.

4 runner, land cruiser, full size bronco, k5 blazer are all great alternatives
That truck is bad ass, love it...but it's a G Wagen, that's what they were built for. Nice to see someone actually using it for that
I like how the driver is just straight up and honest lol knows what he is capable of doing with his ride and what he can't even admit something wasn't impressive lol
That was sick, hats of to Serge for making the best out of a G-wagon real purpose!
The car suits the personality of the owner very well. Finally, a G class doing what it was built for.
I've never had a problem with any audio quality on this channel that I wasn't warned about. Also, even when I was warned about it, I still enjoyed the video. Million mile lexus? @1:58
+Bradley Lloyd is that matt farah's million mile lexus?
+Bradley Lloyd yes
Did somebody say Matt Farah's million mile lexus?
+Bradley Lloyd So that is Matt Farah's million mile lexus?
+Bradley Lloyd looks more like a 940,000 mile lexus.
Damn insane - you have to admire his passion for the vehicle.
Sergei seems like a great guy. This vid def made me go to craigslist and do a quick search on the Mercedes G wagon in my area.
I'm so glad some people actually use these vehicles for what they're made for.
Great video. I like this kind of off roading. He's got a cool truck modified in a particular way so roaming around the boonies is fun. Thanks for posting.
This is a much better video of the G Wagon than the other one you did.
Serge is such a boss, "that was not impressive", "we're already packed". Props to him to use his G-Class like it was meant to.
YES! A review of something else that's not a sporty car ! Keep it coming! More off-roading around here won't hurt!
you can hear clearly on a phone caus its mono, my headphones are stereo so i only hear this in the right ear. our hardware doesnt suck, yours does.
+Soulware3D once you jump in the merc i can hear you in the left ear a bit.
this g wagen has so much cred. way more badass than any g55, g63 or g65 youll see inching along in traffic.
Yes! Awesome video. I just gained a lot more respect for this car. Sergei is a boss for doing this.
Best review in a while. Pure automotive experience (as opposed to hurr look it goes fast, dem tarbos).
This is what G wagon is made for.
Awesome video. Nice change of the usual. I actually enjoyed having the owner drive.
Which is higher: percent of G Wagons taken off road or Lamborghinis to track?
probably lambos on track.
Nah, in Russia and most of Europe these are run hard off road daily
Crashryding yeah i was ab to say russians and germans always take these off road. in the US its way different, rich girls at my college daily drive them smh never see offroad one time
Sergei was awesome! Really enjoyed this One Take!
First off road video I actually enjoyed
love the variety of vehicles you review! keep it up.
Underrated video for sure, this wagon looks like it'd be a blast for cars go to heaven 3!
This truck is a beast! A great One Take.
Yes there is wind noise, but I can hear it just fine! Was cool that you got to review one of these that does what it was intended to do!
Awesome setup on this G. Adventure goals.
Awesome man with an awesome truck. Love seeing that thing used for its actual purpose and not as a fashion statement. What an awesome vehicle, and for the price once depreciated it's hard to beat!
Wow definitely something different from the regular one takes, great job Matt. This thing looks beast!
Matt, screw the haters. You have seriously upped your game. This video is amazing!! I was $hitting my pants! Completely awesome.
Badass, totally changed my view of these machines. (Audio was on point too)
I've always loved these things.
Great video, nice to see something a little different. I think Matt enjoyed it alot as well.
One of the better one-takes. Good stuff
I think this one was my favorite.
Thanks Matt
props to this dude. badass and ingenuitive.
i like the comment he made on people buying cars they cant afford to enjoy. i see tons of beautiful new rubicons modified to the extreme and never go offroad. i could drive down the street right now and point out 10 in 10 minutes.
+OutlawUniverse Do you personally know all of those people? The fact that you see a lifted Rubicon in the city does not mean it doesn't go off road.
Dwealdric yes
+Dwealdric You can see which truck has gone offroad and which hasn't quite easily.
Great to see a G wagon get used to its full potential.
AYYY FINALLY SOMEONE NAMED SERGE!
Love the video! Was a cool change of pace from my usual morning pre-work ritual
Very cool! He did a nice job with everything!
Wow. Inspirational. Nice job Serg! Thanks for giving the g class another go Matt and sharing with us. There's always something amazing to discover in those things that initially seem impractical (:
What an AWESOME OWNER!!
So let me get this straight, Matt. You went to a ride in a back of a G-Wagon with couple Russians...who obtained the car at a considerable discount due to favors...which they built for shooting trips with custom gun racks...and had you come out to an area with no reception...after you disapproved of their favorite vehicle of choice LMAO
This is amazing. Best piece of comedy in a long while. Great video!!!
one of the coolest one takes!
That G wagon is bad ass. and i can hear the audio just fine i don't know what people are talking about.
Really cool video. I liked that you changed it up.
Awesome video, I enjoy the off road vehicles just as much.
The funnest one take in a while! Good job Matt :D
Lol they made him sit in the back xD ahah
I requested to sit in the back
TheSmokingTire Matt Farah i think you're a legend mate
+TheSmokingTire Stop replying!!
XLPCX what?
+Josh Briggs As he has stated many times, he suffers from a bad back, so just the fact that he agreed to do an offroad vehicle review is great.
Yo Matt! This is one of the best one takes!! Well done. Different from the norm!
My dad has a 1982 G 300D, but he never drives it any more. I'm hoping to borrow it some day to have some fun hahaha
Thank god someone using this car for what it's for
great episode. love to see this car in proper use.
Bad ass. I was looking forward to this one after hearing about it on the podcast!
I really dig this content. I've seen damn near every episode you've posted and I like the diversity. Good job man, keep it up!
Fantastic car, G-Wagen is one of my favourite.
impressive, this is what the G is about
thanks for making this video! I've been a fan of the g wagen for years, would love to own one!
Basically, he brought the G-Class back to its military roots. The only thing needed now are bulletproof panels.
It's free content, idk what these people are complaining about
Sergei is such a G.
Clear sound, clear view, excellent car. What else?
Proud owner of a 2008 Mercedes Benz G320 CDI. Just saying hello from Peru!
I have to say Matt, this thing is damn sweet.
That is a seriously cool rig!
nice car and the owner seems to be a true car guy !
I'm in fucking love with this machine! Also fun to see Matt being tossed around in the back!
Great video! These one take videos are some of the best car content on youtube. Why does everyone bitch about a microphone when Matt constantly produces really interesting free content?
This guy would survive a zombie apocalypse.
I love how Sergei is so confident and proud of his G wagon..."that wasn't impressive" lol.
