MY LORD....someone wake me up when stuff starts to happen
want to see them REALLY head to head? ruclips.net/video/IGgyWoE0FR4/видео.html
That was an utter letdown. 2 chatty girls driving on a dirt road.
😂😂🙄😂😂
Yeah,true..
@ TheMedraut 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That was not a real test of these vehicles.
So when are you actually taking them off road?
haha good one
A corrola could do those tracks
Only in the US does off-roading refer to anything but driving off the road.
The US always seems to take terms and just change their definitions completely. Look at the term "Off-road", and tell me what you think it originates from? Could it be "Driving off the road" possibly?
The same has been done to "overlanding". Everywhere but the US it seems to be about traveling *over land* for longer periods of time, and not driving around on a pre-made track and/or driving out to the nearby lake a camping there for the night.
A European overlander may go from Germany to China or South Africa or something while living out of the car. That's also why you don't see ridiculous lifts and massive tires on overland vehicles outside of the US. It would only make them worse at what they've been made for, which is travel.
Backpacking as well, everywhere but the US it's a way of traveling. "I went backpacking around SE Asia for 18 months." etc. In the US, it's putting on a backpack and going camping.
It's no wonder there's always confusion when it comes to those sorts of topics.
Gnawer Shreth You taking it too technical, you are correct about it being “off-road “ however there are levels to it also . And this type of “off-roading” where a basic Camry can easily do is pretty soft. Not really showing the vehicle of its real potential.
Gnawer Shreth also what u talked about just doesn’t apply to USA though, it’s pretty much applies to everywhere.
The rattles in the Defender is hilarious....
shut up
Will that make the rattles in the Defender vanish?
u would be suprised
I don't like surprises, so I'm gonna keep on laughing at the junk that is the Defender...an added bonus is watching as you get more triggered.
there are no rattles
My Toyota Yaris could of made that hill. What a boring test of two capable vehicles.
Great video!
think i went down that road in my saab last week🤣
lol
Is it possible to put an LS3 GM motor in that Landrover, recalibrate the suspension, put a lot of sound deadening materials in the car? That would be my choice.
Wolfgang Ezeh twisted does that
Wake me when they do something.
Awesome beautiful made with all that incredible landscape
And that you call it off road? Really? I've seen defender 110, 130 going up hills that were near vertical. A good prept defender has insane axle articulation.
Keep in mind, a 1993 defender 90 in good condition sells for 70,000$ in the United states
I think a Discovery vs a G wagen(G class) would be a good test, and actually bring it off road.
that was really good :)
I like both of them. The Defender is still a great machine even if now somewhat outclassed now by the G wagon!
The two coolest off-roaders ever made. Well, in normal 4x4 sizes anyway. Things like Unimog, MAN 8x8 etc. are obviously pretty cool as well. :P
I wish it was possible to make the two vehicles mate and have a perfect baby honestly. The Defender looks amazing and and it's so great for bolting things onto, for customizing etc. and the size (well sizes, there's 3 of them after all) makes it perfect for different kinds of purposes.
The G-Class is just in a different league when it comes to build quality and reliability though, so their car-baby would most likely be the perfect off-roader. Like, imagine a fucking Mercedes Defender G110 for example. Great size, great reliability, great off-road, great build quality. It'd be amazing.
My only real issues with G-Class is the price and its size. It's still a big fucking brick to drive around like a Defender is, but it doesn't have the internal size advantage of being such a big brick. The Defender does. (Assuming you don't pick the 90). You can sleep in the back of a 110, you can make it a semi-camper if you want.. G-Class, not so much.. Unless you're really fucking short.
I just have a problem understanding why they've kept it that short when it's still a big fucking, thirsty beast anyway, may as well get some more room and flexibility on the inside then so there's at least a bigger upside to having such a big brick of a vehicle.
They have mated and that give us the range rover
defender with ford fiesta air vents ?
I must say, I personally enjoyed this one. And from what I saw, it seemed more comfortable in the Gelandewagon.
Last 5 seconds, right in the feels :(
My 2014 Santa Fe could've done that track. But G Wagon all the way. Will be my future car to keep.
Haha thats what I was thinking at the end. Can’t wait for the new Defender I’m imagining a Large Suzuki Jimny.
Id be totally happy with both!
funny how they say at the beginning that the G Class has been taken out of its comfort zone yet it has more off road features like 3 differentials compared to the 1 on the defender
I think you’ll find a defender has 3 diffs. Front axle rear axle and one int middle
how is this off road?
Where was the off road challenge? You both drove down a half decent track. In the Australian outback, that would almost pass for a road.
Everybody is talking about the rattle of the landy compared to the quietness of the G wagon like it's the most important part. Landies aren't luxury, they're utility so they're bound to have some noise :) It's what makes them what they are.
Land rover defender weren't ever changed much from 1943
Just the headlights moved from centre to sides due to regulations otherwise it's the same car
Lol, good vid!
All of the G-wagons were tested on the Schöckl mountain and the terrain on this video is just a warm up on Schöckl mountain.
That's not equal comparison I think. V6 Benz vs 4 cylinder Landy ??
Real nice.
that "they don't making it anymore..." really hurts
Gutted about the Landrover losing it here as i would still have the wagon landrover any day over a G Wagon, even though it's been built to a user friendly offroader
How do they drive with that seat position... move the seat backwards abit man..
Especially the G wagon driver.. uggghh
objectively the G-Wagon is better but id rather have the Defender.
You could have done the same in a regular old Defender. Not a Twisted. And then the 90 grand pricetag for the G-Wagon seems a bit crazy. It is nice though.
My 2014 Santa Fe CRDI could've done that track. Nonetheless, G Wagon all day for me. My one future car to keep.
I drove down there in a ford escort.. and back up again..
True about the US market but its the Ruler of Dubai and the purchases in UAE and Middle East that were buying in large numbers
Close a door on any G-Wagen and you'll hear a bank vault closing. It's 6000 lbs. of muscle. I have a 2003 and it's as tight as the day it came of the Austrian factory it's hand built at. Too had a close on a Defender and you might blow the glass out.
Why no shots of the Citroen 2 CV camera car? Come on, girls, you didn't even have dirty hands.
This, this isnt off road, or is it all the G wagon can take?
Not quite a test but it was enough to hear all those rattles and squeaks from the LR Defender... not cool at all.
I could go down that track in my fiesta
And you aren't really offroading to be fair,it's just a well formed farm track.
If you did go properly off road the mercedes would b constantly hung up on it's sills
sooooo wheres the off roading?
Seriously a test off road? I could drive my LR4 down that road in access height mode on stock tires.
The G is what it is.. it's a luxury 4x4, built to be exactly that. That's why it costs 100k.. The Defender is a utilitarian vehicle intended as a work horse (model in vid is actually known as a utility) that has been modified and priced by a third party at 90 grand..
There is zero common ground (as standard) other than the fact they have 4 wheel drive.
This is coming from someone that would kill for a G wagon but (happily) owns a Defender.
ash pearse what are you talking about? The g wagon was introduced as a work horse for the army. I have a 290GD and no defender can match it offriad
uuhhmm, just because recently Mercedes has focused almost exclusively on newly-rich russians and Beverly Hills moms with their AMG G-Wagons doesn't mean that it's not a real workhorse at heart. Look where the G comes from. It had been as utilitarian for about 20 years. The luxury bullshit came later.
@@heiligerjesus1960 Thats utter BS. If the Defender doesnt breakdown, its pretty much just as capable but with better clearance and articulation. On a long pure of road expedition I would rather have have the G Wag though for sure. Given a choice, neither are any good though, just too unreliable and not big enough. Land cruiser 70 series is probabaly the last capable touring vehicle still made, oh and that new Jimny of course!
@@chawenhalo0089 the Defender doesnt have locks and is way heavier. So the axle articulation and clearance isnt an argument at all. If youre talking about Reliability for overlanding I wouldnt say a defender or a g 463 are good choices. The land cruiser is superior than both in terms of that. But its different with a g461, its a bare boned off-roader with no electronics, just an indestructible diesel engine
@@chawenhalo0089 that Jimney really is an interesting little machine, yet id take an 410 samurai over it because it looks better and has less electronics that can break down
hahahahha that moment when he suddenly realized that G wagon is better :D
12.45 “the Saha of Iran?
Hmm, for the (over)priced Twisted Defender you could buy a top of the range Land Rover with Vogue trim. Why didn't you do the test with that one? The idea that you get value for money with the G Wagon is obscene.
But nice film. I liked it.
That was pathetic, they just drove down hill on a firm bumpy road !!
My 61 lwb series two on xpc basically road tyres wouldn’t have batted an eyelid at that amble across the moors. Ha
Im just in love with the g wagon. Next timr you on instagram make sure to check this hashtag #GTANK Yes thats my car.
That could have been filmed in a class room using a white board and archived the same satisfaction as watching that off road video 👎🏻
Goodluck with the G, when ur sensor breaks, end of story. Defender is solid AF
To call the G a city runabout with its chassis on frame and 3 stock diff locks, which the defend doesnt have(stock), isnt really doing its justice. There is no major technical difference between those two, the G has 3 diff locks which makes it more hardcore offroad than the Defender which has an open front diff as far as i know
GT Haus it has traction control which is better then any diff lock
Rosyth Johnston well, traction control works with an open diff and brakes, it can never be as good as a mechanical lsd, u never have 4x4 traction, think about it
Rosyth Johnston Come on man what you say then is that ML is better then G and rivel of the Defender :) There is nothing better then proper mechanical diff-lock! Diff-lock offers constant traction for all wheel all the time. The traction control needs to sleep a wheel then apply brakes and cut power which is kind of passive system - it reacts after the appearance of less traction. There is a reason why most hardcore off-roaders install after market air-lockers :)
u forgot that you can buy a 2011 defender low mileage for 25k and the same G range would cost you 90K
The only reason the G wagon needed three diffs was because of the axle articulation. That's possibly one of the best parts of the defender
Shouldn't the G Wagen be compared more to the discovery than defender
Not by offroad capabilities
Discovery? Compare that to the ML Class. A G is a proper offroader, thats what it was originally built for
Nigel Clatworthy, it depends on the terrain. It's better than the Defender off-road anyway...we all know that (it's that some struggle to admit), but chances are good it would beat the Discovery on tarmac as well :)
That shouldn't be a comparison.
The defender is the original and that old model still was the exact same car from 1943 just some minor exterior and interior changs for regulations
That defender was the car that build many countries
It is well known that the "G" is the best from (jeep, nissan, toyota, etc.) 4X4 since 1979 ...
Ps. Then we got the WIHT portal axels and the 6X6 !!! BUT, the most beautiful is the DEFENDER.
It always was, and it always will be
Land Rover offers way more for less than half the money......you can always add as many toys you want to it....all three are good off roaders no doubt.Iandrover is basic but it just does what it should....all that extra bling is not needed by an average British farmer.
Other than the defenders, the Land Rovers depreciation far exceeds any other reputable 4x4.
You guys call this off-road????
Defender ist devinitiv der bessere wagen. Richtige männer stört es nicht wen der wagen im innenraum bischen läuter ist. Ist eben für echte männer
I have driven worse roads in my Opel Vectra
Not long ago, the British Army replaced the Defender with the G-class. So I knew how this test would pan out.
If that's your definition of roading then both those vehicles are a waste of money. You could travel those roads in a raised AWD vehicle without much trouble for 1/3 of the cost. Not sure what this channel generally focuses on but based on this content I can only assume that it's focused on on road vehicles.
Hear that rattle in the Rover? Merc is completely silent.
Urm, I thought you said off road in the title?, and there's me I was expecting knee high mud, chest height wading and rock climbing, did i miss all this while i dosed off waiting for it?, I must have, instead I got to watch 2 vehicles on a dry dirt track, totally disappointed.
Defender all the way
Absolutely about nothing :) this is no off road...Skoda Fabia can ride this track
land rover is better
You compare the G class to something much more capable than a range/land rover, the G should be compared to a Land Cruiser or a NIssan Patrol.
The Mercedes Benz looks like the Land Rover defender
The only rattle I wanna hear after spending 90k is if I paid it in coins.
That's not off roading mate. That's what you do in a X5 or even X6. :))
Dafuq did I just watch? Testing them out offroad by driving down farm roads?
Defender with Corvette L3 engine 👍 These 2 are Sad off-roaders!! 😂🙄😂
getting stuck going down hill ???
Only Lada Niva 💪
Lol! Off-road? These guys have no idea.
Ami the only one who wants to see a Range Rover vouge put he g to shame
SKEIDAA!!
I just subscribed you guys made a great review it was almost emotional I don’t know why 😂😅😅 but respect 🫡 I am a G wagon fan .
The new defender will trash a G wagon and also that was just a dirty gravel track you went on why didn't you just go somewhere that was a challenge my series 2 would have done that in 5 seconds
Eoin O'Shaughnessy is that so? Then do it again and again and you will find that my beloved Landrover is made by cretons. That's why I drive G-Wagens. I would buy a Landie in a heartbeat, if only they would prove reliable. I hate Landrover engineers from 1970 till today.
J.A.C. Chefen perhaps this is why the defender production stopped? Any efforts to mod the defender to "modern norms" usually are so extensive and expensive that a top down redesign makes better sense imho, the past 2000s formula isn't cutting it anymore
even an S1
Eoin O'Shaughnessy please even on Mercedes worst day that Land Rover still is not messing with Mercedes-Benz especially not with three locking differentials and I happen to to on both
All you needed to show was 5 seconds of the rattles in the Defender, compared to background silence in the g-wagon. No contest.
ur so dumb the defender is so much better off road the g-wagon is just pointless
Oh yeah we just saw that.. Don't be butthurt, the Geländewagen is simply one of the best, if not the best, offroaders ever made.
the land rover is 10 times better than the g-wagon the germans dont even make any good offroader apart from the mercedes 6x6 the g-wagon looks like an offroad car but its really not the land rover is much much better u clearly dont know what ur talking about
film cast No I am not German my delusional friend, I am Danish and if you want to explain my view with my nationality, I should like the Land Rover more, you know, since you helped save us from the Germans in WWII. I am just not a nationalistic bumlicker who can't accept the fact, that England doesn't make "the greatest offroader in the world"..
ur quite right
Sorry did he say 90 grand! And that steering wheel is like a bottle top.
What a complete let down!
any one the wears a wrist watch as big as a phone should never review a 4x4
The Mercede's driver is painful; he drives TOO near the steering wheel.
Meanwhile the Toyotas are crossing Africa and fighting wars in the desert.
No one in California Drives G350 Diesel. this is a proper SUV. All celebs buy the G63 AMG. that is a very different thing.
kushil05 Especially when they have a v12 with over 600 horsepower. I don't see the need in this vehicle.
Neither are 'city' cars and thoese that buy them for use there are silly. 90k for either of them is silly silly money.
Both are iconic cars, both were built for military purpose but the Defender is 30 years older and thats not the only reason why the G is the better car. It is like everything that comes from Germany much more reliable and that is what counts offroad.sorry...
Klaus Walter the Defender wasn't built for the army. Get you R facts straight. It was built for farm work.
Hipster 4x4 is the Defender, it looks capable but it's not so much. It's axles shafts are 5mm smaller diameter, Ring gears are broken often as well as diffs pins. It's ok just on roads like that, ruff but not really challenging. Oh and no lockers offroad is a joke
G55STEYR yeah but the only reason the g350 needs diffs is because it has no articulation. Defender's don't need extra diffs. They're beast without them
Brother... you have no idea!
S-hah?!
A volvo 245 could probably make it on that ´´offroad`` road. Are you seriously calling something an off-road test when you are clearly driving on: you guessed it! A ROAD?!?!?!?! I agree that there are large boulders and pot-holes, but the English language sure is weird. Off-road seems to mean on-road...
I could drive down there in my audi
Defender anytime not a dumbfu_k luxurious suv doing offroad real men real car mate you don't complain when a rock hit your 4x4 axles or body infact if the g wagon hit its axles i think it would broke up pretty easily than the defender
You used the wrong truck. The Range Rover is the right truck or at least a New Land Rover.
Crout barsterds.
would someone actually shoot a G-Wagon versus A range rover or a G-Wagon versus a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited truck vs truck on a course....this was a waste of time they talked the whole time leading up to a downhill!! Rock crawl I don't get it...
Motor Trend did it I think. There's a video
