Time 4:47 I am using the fifth version of the engine and I do not have an item in the settings "Atmosfere / Fog sun light". How i can find it in UE 5? Thank you so much!
Here is a thought: check-box wiki: Adding a way for Epic and also end users to collab on wiki pages for every check box in the details panel. Then enable the users to read it inside the editor directly. I think this will be a much better way to maintain and share the information and knowlege of UE.
For those that can't see the volumetric fog, you have to make sure your engine's rendering for 'Shadows' is set to a minimum of 'High'. Unfortunately that means this artistic touch is extremely taxing on your computer.
I have a question that literally no one seems to be able to answer... Why is volumetric scattering intensity greyed out on my point light? I have enabled 'cast volumetric shadow', followed every instruction i can find, added the volumentrics plugin, checked the Unreal documentation and STILL can't find a solution to my problem... :(
Great tut! Im curious, can you make the directional light only effect the volume and not the geo? Cant find any options for this in the dir light. Thanks
@@cgtechie there is no volume light option in directional light details, the cast volume shadow is checked and the light is stationary. (changing to movable does not make difference)
Hi! Maybe it can be some of this things: First, check the configuration of your Bloom and Lens Flares in the PostProcessVolume. That affect the way of propagation of the sun. Second, maybe you have low values in the Volumetric Scattering Intensity in DirectionalLight and SkyLight. You can increase it at 4, 8, 16, 24... I hope I have helped. Regards 👋🏼
Anyone knows a good tutorial to create them with geometry and materials? I have a vague idea, but the dont look quite exactly as i want them. They need to be made with geometry since its an old school project, with fog they are very contrasting.
I'm stuck at advanced settings !! Can't find atmospheric fog light option ! Can someone help me out please! Thanks in advance ! ( I'm just getting started with unreal engine )!
Hi, I have looked everywhere and I cannot find the "Atmospheric / Fog Sun Light" option in my directional light, can you please help me ? (I'm using Unreal 4.26.1, I've checked my updates)
If you look in the details panel near the top (when you have the directional light selected), you'll see the options such as: Affects World Casts Shadow Indirect Lighting Intensity Volumetric Scattering Intensity Below the last option, Volumetric Scattering Intensity, (and just above the Rendering category) you should see a little white arrow that points down. Click the arrow to expand more options, and you should see the Atmospheric / Fog Sun Light option. If it doesn't appear for you there, I don't know what could be causing it to disappear, unfortunately.
Last trick just doesn't work. Decreasing fog density and increasing light volumetric scattering intensity is exactly the same than decreasing volumetric scattering intensity and increasing fog density. There's absolutly no way to get brighter godrays without having unrealistic fog density.

Love how the narrator's mood changes every once in a while
This is awesome! I tried many attempts for a nice moody and foggy look, this will really help me!
There is so much to learn, but I am going through and pump my brain with Unreal Knowledge little by little
This is great! Keep em coming Epic!
Love this video series SUPPER helpful!!!especially on this video!!!! Been Wanting to make something like this for awhile !!

And a beautifully put together scene it is... :)

Please make this again but for Version 4.25
hi when i increase the scattering distribution to .3 it doesnt keep the rays after looking away from the sun what am i missing?
enable volumetric fog in exponential fog settings

Why don't I get the light shafts when I turn on "Light Shaft Bloom" on my sun?
I have this same issue. Can't get light shafts no matter what I try...

Also check the Material Blend Mode used on the object/s, if is set to *Translucent* neither shafts nor any type of ray will work for that mesh !

DAMN THAT WAS GOOD! Was it as good for you as it was for me? LOL
Volumetric fog eats my fps always. I disable this.
Make the volume smaller. What's your GPU size? Do you raise the cache for rendering? The default is like 512 Mb
hell yes
