Please, consider making a tutorial about blending the Quixel textures and using masks from World Machine properly for landscape shader. I have noticed that the tutorials that are doing this kind of stuff are quite outdated and also they hardly allow you also to draw on the surface if you want to manually adjust them. Will be glad if this will happen! It will be VERY useful!

I want a tutorial on that landscape material. That's the only thing crazy thing in this video and, ironically, the only thing not covered. You brought that landscape into the scene and it already looked godlike, whatever you did next with those assets was just bonus. But really, the landscape made the whole scene.
In the not-too-distant future, people will make films using this and upload them to RUclips to assist with their vlogging etc. Game changing stuff. In decades to come our children won't comprehend a world without these incredible toys…
Here's my review of quixel Sorry for my english 😂 I just started my journey with UE4 and I really like making 3d models mixing and matching different textures and making realistic scenes and etc, but starting with limited sources is frustrating but when I started with quixel (today) it was a whole new world I can create ultra realistic scenes and everything is on my fingertips thanks quixel for this amazing experience, the best thing about quixel is that almost everything there is absolutely free and high quality I am just on a laptop as I am not that rich with just a 4gb graphics card and low memory still I am able to do many things it's absolutely brilliant
Because of this tutorial i am really considering getting into quixel and mega scans, i am not 100% decided but videos like this that show you the tools that are brand new to you , help you decide.

Literally a two tile blend with two different scanned materials from Quixel. Pretty easy 2x 4k. Go on ue4 forums and find some of the tips for materials, Marketplace also has many you can learn from.
This goes to all youtubers, get a silent keyboard. And it doesn't help if you're unnecessarily smashing those tiny buttons too. Negative asides, thank you for the video. I learned a few tricks that I haven't see before. Really, thank you.

Whenever you install UE4 you get an artist license which lets you create anything you want to. And the good thing about it is that there are no mistakes, just happy accidents.
Should make more videos like this, even if it's subscriber only. It's highly educational, and it encourages people to buy more scans. The tools are no good to people if they don't know how to use them, and getting good results from easy to follow steps like this, makes one want to push further and experiment with new combinations instead of just giving up.
One of the guys doing Quixel tutorials (think it is someone different, uses a brush from a content pack that he sells or used to sell before working at Quixel) This is a Live Tutorial from Unreal on landscapes. Either a share or a full tutorial on that great material would only make people want to subscribe to megascans more so I really hope he does it. The result you get from what seems a fairly simple and low cost material with only two textures is amazing. But there are so many different tutorials on landscape materials here on youtube and they're all so different and don't give this result. It's also because of world machine being able to make great splatmaps though, have to keep that in mind. Still would love to figure out this material fully.

My current workflow: 1. Download megascans textures. 2. Use Megascans studio to create bunch of awesome textures. (me - wow these textures are awesome in megascans studio, my game will be looking AAA) 3. Import created textures in to Unity.(me - we r almost there, one more step) 4. Plug them in to unity standard terrain (me - wait WTF this doesnt look what im looking for!). Verdict: Unity standard terrain shading SUCKS!
man it really does suck in terms of looking good. I recommend you use the MicroSplat plugin. It integrates into the existing terrain system, but makes it look WAY prettier, generates all the maps you dont have for you, and it's free. If you want to go the extra mile there are even killer add-ons like tesselation, mesh/terrain blending, and anti-tiling
Matthijs de Rijk paint, as a whole, is completely and totally inferior to programs like Gimp and Photoshop. Terrian is about the only thing that Unreal destroys Unity in. Every other aspects of the engine is either slightly behind, on par with, slightly better than, or destroys Unreal's implementation (in the case of 2d). Terrible analogy
You must use the overlay blend type to combine the albedo and cavity or the texture will appear darker with multiply because cavities use middle grey values. If the value of the albedo change you have to fix the gamma of the curvature map.
U probs can run this easy with Ryzen 3 1200 + 1050Ti. I know it's bit /s but many ppl still don't realize that good graphics =/= low fps, it's just the developers who are lazy to do realistic stuff especially in the texturing/modeling department. Quixel alone gonna change the whole standards of gaming graphics :D

The birds were a custom BP with simple AI, would derail the tutorial a bit too much going into detail there I think! Essentially all you need is a simple bird mesh with flapping wings animation and then you can set random speeds / directions in the blueprint or make them all follow a leader which is what I did here (makes it look like they fly in flocks then).

He must have exported multiple height maps with angle variation for each material variation on terrain from world machine. Even if that is the case in this tutorial, he could have explained it. It look nearly a month for me to understand this after I was stuck with tiling.

saw your comment and searched for Virtus but I could only find a very very basic Landscape Material Video. The Landscape Material in this Video looks more realistic and seems to be an auto- (normal-based) Material.

@@katharinawalter6513 It look realistic because the terrain texture is not a simple tileable texture. The artist has blended different textures based on mask data from World Machine.

@@mrflyman123456789 To be very specific, for this tutorial he must have used height lerp for blending materials along with height map data based on angle. He must have exported multiple height maps with angle variation for each material variation on terrain from world machine. Even if that is the case in this tutorial, he could have explained it. It look nearly a month for me to understand this after I was stuck with tiling.
