- After a couple of years seeking them out, I can safely say I'm happy there's a good population there and that Heldale Loch contains a population of Arctic Char again.
DNA will now decide whether they were their all along or were re introduced in the early 2000s.
I'm going to dry out my gear and await the results.
Thanks for Watching ,
A massive thanks to the people of Hoy for all their Help.
Brilliant stuff Damien. Looking forward to the results now. 👏
Well done, this has been a most interesting thread on your channel. Good on you, thanks for sharing your efforts. As always, looks beautiful up on Orkney.
Well done bud I’m glad there there and you found them , I met two Welsh lads on heldale ,looking for them but were not so lucky beautiful part of the world and should be respected , a looking forward to your future videos ,top man 🎣💯👍🏻
Nice one Damien..Hope the study goes well and results come through quickly. The fact that the char are in there and thriving is good news.Whats your plans for next year?.Have a good one mate ,and take care.Hope our paths will cross next year on Rousay.Steve.
Really interesting following this story, the hard work paid off and it’ll be interesting to see the results. We have Loch Mealt on Skye that apparently has arctic char and no trout and is supposed to be quite unique in that respect. I don’t think anyone really fishes it, might have a go next season, and get my arse kicked trying 😆👍
Excellent work mate.. Be interesting what they come back with
Thank you big fella,😘
It shouldn't be long until we hear something back.
The Doctor running the tests in inversneck comes back off leave on the 19th and is right on it apparently.
mate thats some m.b.e. worthy stuff youve undertaken with the char, this is what angling should be about on youtube, i they turn up to be wildies, keep up the sterling work as always pal
Cheers, you did say "keep her lit" 🤣🤣
I'm not too concerned now to be honest, They're there, and delighted to be there.
Obviously breeding and having a high old time.
It's been interesting, it's a wild old place, and no the time of year for spending 2 or 3 nights out in a tent 🥶
I'm kinda glad it's over 🤔🤣🤣
@@povfishingorkney i can only imagine what it felt like with that stunnin specimen in the net mate, fair play puttin yourself threw the mill on your quest mate, trout and salmon need to be payin you a visit up there for that story
They weren't caught on the fly mate, probably don't count 🤔🤣
I think if they are of the original stock it will be a bigger deal.
It brightens up the channel a bit, a change from looking at tazzies, seekers and zerlings 😉🤣
@@povfishingorkney i dont they mind as much these days mate, you found them wtf does it matter what method, it does that alright mate, nobody has them on their channel over here lol it certainly beats the constant $2 swimbait vids that youtube thinks i wana watch 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
RUclips thinks I'm a keen Carp angler 🤔🤣
Awesome. I've heard of a loch out Torridon way that has a head of them. Gonna go try my luck some time. Also, going to impose myself on Orkney for some fishing soon. Only ever been up for rugby or to watch bands like Angersay before 😂
There's a few Lochs in Scotland still that supports them big fella, but they are quite fragile, picky things by all accounts.
Give me a shout if you're up and I'll tag along for a cast with you 😘
@@povfishingorkney do they have a different season to the trout? That would be amazing BTW. Maybe not next year as it's pretty busy already but after that I'm all over that.
