Hey Jason, such a bummer about that door ding - 16 hrs old, so frustrating - there are some real pr..ks out there that don’t give a crap about other people’s property. Our Cannon, the same colour as yours has been hit as well, 4000km old. A painless dent removal business may be able to pop and press a lot of yours out, worth asking. Good luck with your motoring from here on in.👍
Nice quality looking truck. I couldn't stomach mods on the first day brand new truck..I would need to drive it as the engineers designed the vehicle first for couple hundred miles ..but thats me a 61 year old fuddy dud
Hahaha true! I drove mine completely stock for first 6 months because I wanted to keep it stock but then I got over it and modified it haha I do agree with you as I did plan to keep it stock. It's a great vehicle as it is
@wheelsbytheocean I picked up my beautiful red X today for $38,990, with 9 months rego.. I'm stoked beyond words. 98% of my choice based on your great testimonial vids, man. Thank you, so much.. See you on the open roads 🍻👍💥
Recent discoverer of your channel and this journey - nicely done and real life so thx. Sorry if you've dealt with this elsewhere but are there any rust concerns with the Cannon ? Bit early perhaps. Look forward to your next episode.
Hey mate! Thanks for watching :) The GWMs don't have rust issues but I do have some self inflicted surface rust underneath because I drive ok beaches and never wash the underbody. Terrible idea but.... that's what I do hahaha lazy boy. I just need to clean and underbody spray would be great one day haha Cheers 🍻
This is the link to the ones we fitted. 2 inch. savagetech.com.au/products/gwm-cannon-front-2-lift-spacer?_pos=1&_sid=19c0560e3&_ss=r Thanks for watching mate. Hope the vid helps with your install :)
Two down another seven to go? (There are only 9 of these in Oz right?). I've been looking at the GWM's arch nemesis, the Ssangyong Musso. If the dealership in Australia can hold it together for the next 10 years, it might be a better buy. I recently put on some AT's (upgraded from muddies) but I made a mistake, I chose 245/75's thinking they would be the same height as the muddies (265/75) but forgot that the 75 bit is the ratio of the 265 in height, so I dropped mine by around 30mm! Bugger!!! I looked later and I could have got 235/85 which stand a smidgen taller than the muddies. I subscribe to the narrower is better tyre argument...yeah, I don't give a shit how they look, just what's the most functional approach for clearance, reliability, efficiency and on and off-road grip.
Hey, yes ofcourse it can be. The dealer has the right to void warranty on items that have been damaged by the aftermarket accessories. It won't be a fun chat if that ever happens hey.
I see that you went with the roller shutter. Would you recommend that over a canopy? Just wondering as I'm definitely thinking of buying a GWM Ute for work and undecided on a canopy or roller shutter
If I could afford the canopy I would have way rathered the canopy :) just think it's a better all rounder I do love the roller shutter, can't fault it.
Ummmmm hahaha we were a fair bit over but we had sooooo much stuff so wasn't ideal. It was all mainly because of the accessories. Around 300kg over on gvm!
It went like this. Oh shit that's over haha and I drove off. Ofcourse we were all expecting it to be over as it was only just legal with no accessories when we first left. So travelling Australia and living in the van you a constantly getting things and improving stuff so adding weight constantly so we kinda just built up as we went. Gvm and GCM were over here and there. We are looking into different setups at the moment and will be probably selling the Goodlife Caravan and getting something a bit smaller. Also don't need the roof top tent and rack so will sell that too. Try get something that weighs in better haha. We are definitely keeping the GWM though! We love the ute Cheers mate
Thanks for honest reply,,,we also have the GWM but have since day one had a knock through the steering wheel,,,its constant,,,like a ball joint,,, they originally said it was engine mounts,, I asked them how the engine mounts had anything to do with steering,,I also said when the mounts don't fix the problem I'd be pissed, we'll it didn't fix it and now they say they don't feel the knock,,,, have you any ideas what it could be ??,,6000 ks on clock now,,,cheers
Hahahaha that would be awesome hey!! If you could manage to get it engineered it could be. But I'm pretty sure the actual law is maximum 2 inch Lift and 2 inch bigger tyres. Something like that... please don't quote me with that as I'm really not sure. I'm pretty sure body lifts are illegal. But it would look so bloody good with some 38s on it hahaha Send photos if you do something like that! Cheers mate
@RicknMorty85 well yeah it can but you just unplug it before you take to dealer. I wouldn't be worried about a throttle controller as it just speeds up the throttle signal a bit. Don't think it can cause any issues 😀
Nice to see someone rep our car in a positive way as well as put it to the test. Got a new sub
Haha legend! Thanks for subscribing mate
I love my GWM so much. I've put it to the test alright haha definitely would buy another one
Cheers 🍻

Love the video, does the strut spacers fix the bottoming out issue in the front end?
No they don't sorry, I'd put the Reverb front suspension kit from Savage tech. That'll sort that out :)
Really tasty mods guys congrats, I’m about to buy those spacers, and they sell 25mm and 32mm; which one did you get?

Good vid. Re the towbar - I take it there is still room for the spare tyre under the tub once the towbar is installed?
Haha yes ofcourse :)
Fits perfectly

Cool. I enjoy my cannon. Just curious if your warranty is affected by the modifications? Otherwise enjoy 🎉

Good job guys. Quick question where did you order the tow bar kit
The tow bar is from Savage Tech Australia. Great unit. Good price too
Comes with everything to install
Cheers mate 🍻
Thanks boss

Do you think we need a diff drop on a 2 inch lift?
@getdreaded2245 I have a 2 inch Lift and I don't have any tail shaft spacers or diff drop...
It'll be fine ... 🙂
Just wondering when the updates on your weights etc may be coming mate

Nice video man, i am wondering is it legal to do 3 inch on the body lift and 3 inch on the suspension lift to achieve 6 inch lift in Victoria???
Hahahaha that would be awesome hey!!

are they both just plain gwm cannons? Not cannon L or X?
They are both Cannon L.
😀 Cheers 🍻
How the fuel consumption while crossing speed without towing after mods ?
I haven't really looked into this. I'll keep an eye on it and let you know
Is he gonna put the throttle controller in later?
Nah he just wants to keep stock like me 😀
@@wheelsbytheocean I see, does it void the warranty if you install one?

When are going to do the video on the result's of you going overthe weighbridge ??you will be honest and truthful now😮😮😮😂😂
I didn’t get guys, was that a lift kit?
Hey, just front spacers. So it just lifts the car by using a spacer between the Strut tower and housing. It works pretty good.
@@wheelsbytheocean I just got my SXR, wonder if it works on it too..
@@djg4193 it will, nice cheap option :)
@@wheelsbytheocean is 5 cm really big difference?
@@djg4193 yes its a noticeable difference for sure :) then the bigger tyres. Just makes it more tough haha
Should be using a heat gun on the bolts because of the loctite;
🍻
Will keep that in mind for next time 😀
Needs to just paint his rims black and leave the shiny center.
You really need a better video camera. Your fish eye lens doesn't do any justice to your beautiful vehicles.
3m45s hahahahahahaha .. haters always gonna hate lol
Adz Polisco
Hahahaha damb haters
