I use a K&N air filter in my Roadking and check the mounting hardware everytime but never thought about applying locktite to the threads Thanks Doc good advice 👍
Thank you sir it is alway a pleasure when your videos pop up, we are learning everyday of our lives, much easier when you present it. Have a great day!
Stock filter never has been oiled. You are correct HD Performance air filters must be labeled ( oil before use) All K&N filters are designed to use their oil….Doc
Wow Doc. As always a very informative video. Taking Service seriously on your bike is an understatement. Thanks again for your dedication to do things right and teach us all how to….
Thanks, Doc another great tech tip'you . I always come here for the advice . You always tell me the best stuff / at the right time riding season is here in Tennessee. Keeps my Ultra Limited running great and me happy. Thanks Doc' God bless you and yours . Spider'
Whatever works..... Nothing more embarrassing or frustrating than having your dentures fly out when using highly technical mechanics terms ... Like F**k... I can hear it now.... "Just a personal service tip from doc Harley.. always secure your dentures with blue loctite to keep that from happening😂. Doc Harley is the main man for info on your Harley.... Good video
Nothing but love and respect to you sir... Your truly the guy to trust about Harley repairs and maintenance. Your tips are helpful and work. Thanks for all you do
I use CRC Throttle Body cleaner for the outer induction module. However, I bought CRC Mass Airflow sensor cleaner for TMAP the sensor that is further inside the module. Does that sound reasonable to you? Also, my Screamin Eagle air cleaner directions call for Loctite 243 on all the screws (for your readers). Thanks Doc !
Unrelated, but I have a question that I can't get the same answer from two techs. I have a 2008 FLHX that leaks primary fluid out of the starter! Everyone says that the primary vent is plugged, blocked, etc. But no one can tell me how the pressure is vented. One tech told me that the primary vents into the transmission, but can't explain how?
I have a video out that talks about the reason starters leak. As for explaining how the primary breaths through the main shaft into the transmission and out the little hose at the top of the cover, stop by Low Country Harley-Davidson and let’s talk….Doc
Iv seen all kind of stuff i knowed a guy had a old 60s harley had super E carb it ate one of the butter fly screws he was asking me and friend of mine if it hurt it well we rode it aparently it went thru the without doing much damage he rode it years after that
The check list is in the Owners & Service books. I am sure someone here has a copy. I’m not near a manual. Please tell everyone what model and year…..Doc
If Doc Harley had dentures he would secure them with blue Loctite.😂
😂….Doc
Nah, if Doc uses red he'll never have worry about them coming loose;
Pulled air box off Buell found a mouse nest. I like reverse cut self tapping screws to get out broke off bolts.
Thanks Doc for another great tech tip-blue loctite is definitely your friend in this air filter area

I was told no need to oil the filter anymore on a 2004 heritage softail.

Great advice! Thanks.
😮 I've pulled and inspected my air filter a few times but didn't put lock tight... I didn't think of it. Truthfully they've been tight every time.
I had slowed down riding last couple of years due to some other stuff going on. So it great to be reminded as i prep bike for riding season
Well said…..Doc

Where can I get one of those tank covers?

That is amazing story….Doc
And clean the IAC
Where did you get the tank cover?
Supplied by dealer. I’m sure you can find them on Drag Specialties web site….Doc
This is why Harley is called a Milwaukee Vibrator. You always have to work on it to make sure everything is tight.
I would hope ALL vehicles use a locking agent in the Air Cleaner…Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Doc we didn't know or have locking agents in the 50s, just lock washers.
Hey Doc. Great vid. Where did you get that quilt tank cover. Not seeing it HD catalog. Thanks and Happy Easter
I was about to ask the same thing!
Thats what i want to know
When open throttle body valve and see oil build up inside..Should we spray in sea foam or carb cleaner. ??
HD does not advise any chemical down the throat of a Harley-Davidson…Doc
GREAT video's, as always. I'm starting to come up to 5000 miles on my bike. What kind of service is involved please. Thanks
Did you ever think it would help if you specified what bike you have ?
The check list is in the Owners & Service books. I am sure someone here has a copy. I’m not near a manual. Please tell everyone what model and year…..Doc
That's why I prefer to have professionals service my bike.
