Sorry your house fell over, Rob. Nice song though.
You just made my day... xD

I love the sound of 8 strings when played like this it reevaluates the whole 8 string concept instead of being pure metal and djent ( I do love metal though aswell)
I couldn't agree with you more. It gets the low notes and it just has a certain sound that I love. I absolutely love rob scallon's originals, they have this vibe that I just love
For me, it's also allowed me to re-evaluate the tonality of EMG pickups and how well they handle clean tones.
+Music4Ever those arent emgs tho. they just have pickup covers
Agree, it's disappointing how 7+ strings are pigeonholed into percussive djenting. They can do so much more
aww this is so sweet. I don't know if this song was SUPPOSED to sound sweet. But. It sounds sweet.
It's for m'lady. So sweetness was intentional :)
Normally i stay away from 8 string videos because its full of percussive opens and sweep picking and loads of distortion, but this is amazing.
he has more like this:)
Check out Anchor, I've never heard anything like it.
King Barney well if you want to hear something along these lines but in a full band - check out Scale the Summit!
Braden Hickok Oh god yes. Just bought their full discography with all my savings yesterday after listening to it on pirated mp3s. It's too good to be restricted by 320 kbps.
Mezurashii5 Haha that's awesome - and you're damn right about the quality!
Great tune, very tranquil and beautiful.
Thanks Todd!
+Rob Scallon Hey Rob, could you please write some more songs like that on the 8 string? Lately I'm pretty stressed and these are really calming me down... please?
+V'yell Gohl I agree. That would be great.
Sir Rob, i'm a young film director from Tunisia and i wrote a whole short movie script fully inspired by your songs, Theater girl, Anchor, Home Home Home and Mutter. would u allow us to feature your songs in our short movie ?
+Dimebag Darrell hes not gonna see this, email him. check the about section on the channel
I can't really sense any other artists in this music. Most musicians sound a bit like their inspiration. Rob is his own genre. He sounds like Rob Scallon, not any other progressive bands, not even The Fine Constant, another tranquil artist. I love artists that find their own sound and pioneer it.
Majestical Spectacle modest mouse is really like that
Yes. It's such fresh juicy justice. Some backyards are so big that the owners get lost in them. And then they write songs I guess.
What amazes me is that he's doing it all with only a guitar. That's amazing. Nothing else... No ambient synths or anything. It's breathtaking.
So damn true. He's inspired me so much in music as well, especially to branch off from rock and write calm stuff like this (not nearly as good as him tho. He's insanely talented and skilled).
not to take away anything cos i love robs solo stuff but have you ever heard of american football? cos robs highly influenced by them
I've been going through your channel for the better part of the last hour and I honestly believe you're one of the most talented musicians I've heard in a while.
Thank you for the music!
"The best guitar piece I've ever heard." -my dad
2:21 I spot some Anchor right there...
this seriously made me choke up and tear up. bravo sir.
:)
+Aaron Bound this seriously made me choke and tear at my chicken
+Rob Scallon He's right, it's definitely a "powerful" tune. Great job man; I subscribed after watching just a handful of your videos. It's awesome to see a musician like yourself who does their own thing. 'Love it =)
+Rob Scallon damn good song man thank you for sharing your talent with us

@@marcoantoniotorres4924 Hey, it's been a year, but he's better than Davie.
I half expected him to go full on chug in the middle of the song as a joke.
Even though 8 string guitars are not for me, I appreciate how you demonstrate that such an instrument are not only made for open string djent madness, but indeed can produce a beautiful piece of music such as this.
Cheers man!
This song reminds me of a tearful goodbye. Like letting go of a loved one. So beautiful.
thanks for being alive rob.
I know that this isn’t the message behind the song I honestly don’t know if there even is one but whin I here this tune it makes me think of a musician who is in love with a theater girl in his college but being a musician she look down on him so he wrote this song for her and plays it at a show that she was at and she automatically knew what it was about and then finely falls for him. Idk it’s just the vibe the song gives of I’m honestly probably over analyzing it. But thanks for the song rob I totally love it
Hey man, my name's Jared. I truly admire your work and the thought and composition that goes into it. The emotion that I feel when you perform is phenomenal! This particular piece made me think of someone I love, who just happens to be a "theater girl" and it just made me happy man! Haha! Thankyou for your amazing talents and your willingness to share them with the world! I hope to see more video performances soon. See ya!

I love keeping the focus just off the hands. Really cool choice.
Thanks Jake!
The depth of field in this video is super shallow because I left the lens just how you gave it back to me.
Ha!
This is perfect for homework/studying
Gorgeous. Just gorgeous.
thanks Jenny!
Rob Scallon she isn't lying. It's so chill and soft and as someone who feels life is a tornado whisking past me at times this song is so therapeutic
I got the anchor ep on vinyl in 2014 and even now almost a decade later this is one of if not my favorite song by Rob
my respect to you man, I had an 8 string and god knows why I got rid of it, you can bet I will be getting another one and jamming again!!!!!!
Honestly, you are one of the greatest musician I've heard in a while, your music is made with passion and love. If you ever have childs, they will be proud to have such a father. Big love from france
This is one of the most beautiful and peaceful songs i've ever heard in my life.
Thanks
All of Robs 8 original pieces are so fucking beautiful. Seriously man you have such a beautiful mind. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Who are you Rob Scallon!? I discovered your videos about 30 minutes ago looking for cello covers and discovered a magnificent musician. The only thing I could think of while watching this video is "who are you?". Thank you for sharing your talent with me today. It gives me the motivation to keep playing through college and continue with my dream of being a performer in music arts one day.
I don't think I could ever hear a more calm and mellow song, absolutely love it!
First off, the shot of you lying on the ground messed with me. I thought you were standing on the wall. Second, all your eight string songs you make are absolutely beautiful. I love your metal parodies but these songs are what make me love your channel. Keeping making this awesome music Rob and have a wonderful holiday!
I actually just started writing music 2 weeks ago. I got my inspiration from You Novo Amor, and Plini. I just make instrumentals but it’s such an amazing feeling to hear something you’ve written and other people loving it. Thanks for being an inspiration.
I love how you have your own style of playing. Its so unique and awesome
The song makes me so relaxed. Thank you Rob, you are a really great musician!
This video is an embodiment of my life. laying down in a room by myself with my favorite guitar in hand. brilliant.
It's nice to see I'm not the only person who keeps their fingernails that short.
It's also nice (although daunting) to see how much more there is to learn about guitar.
The music you make is very inspirational Rob. Thanks for being out there in this big open world.
Wait how did you walk on the wall at the end
He didn't haha...it's a videoing trick that plays with your perspective. All throughout the video you thought he was leaning up against a wall when he was actually laying on the floor with his legs up. It's pretty sweet.
hahahahahahahaha. Oh man.
HeySticks zeldax3kid OR... I have purchased magnetic shoes. And leave my classical guitar on the ground now.
zeldax3kid way to kill a joke...
Rob Scallon i'll go with the purchased magnetic shoes theory, it's definitely that one
This sing brings back a lot of good and bad times, thank you for the awesome music Rob.
I love how you filmed this man, cool combo of abstract and zen, goes with the song really well
Im so glad i got high and clicked on this video. Great fucking music man
Haha I'm the same at the moment them harmony feels :)
When most people get an eight-string they shred for a week an then it goes in the for we to collect dust. Rob here makes the greatest guitar album ever with one.
I'll never think of an 8 string as a religiously metal guitar anymore! Truly beautiful piece bro. I love your music so much :)
Your vibe is hypnotising, thx for sharing. Keep it on!
You're ear is excellent Rob, and your technique is flawless. You're certainly an inspiration to other musicians and guitarist such as myself. Thank you for your varied content dude! : ) Cheers
Man I love all your stuff. So full of emotion.
Much thanks :)
Man this is so inspiring, I just spent half an hour playing the tuning you seem to have used. Looks like a mix between open C and open F, so it allows to do full chords over the 8 strings while keeping a lot of open strings, beautiful ! Not to mention all available natural harmonics, that’s just great thanks a lot !
Hey Rob I love this song. I can't wait for more of your stuff.
Just simply a beautiful piece of music. I tip my hat to you sir.
God this song would go great towards a video of just clips from the summer, really really mellow tune, really relaxing, I love it!
*suddenly needs an 8 string*
oh robert. you never cease to amaze me
I really love this song! Maybe my favorite of your originals... Keep up the great work Rob!
Dude this is like love in song form!
This is so amazing, I love it :)
Its so cool to watch the top string wave around like its awesome! Pretty relaxing song dude! Keep it up!
this should have millions of views, you are an incredibile artist😊
Love the way you sink into that riff at 2.12. Seamless.
He is enormous good. I like all his videos, they are masterpieces.
Rob you are a true artist. keep the art coming brother.
That's a beautifully shot video!
Oh man, the piece is quite beautiful but your camera shot tripped me out for at least 30 seconds haha, I love it. Seriously, don't afraid to be different.
This is so wonderful, gets better the more you listen!
thanks :)
Its a good song to start 2014 happy new year Rob :D
Awesome. Beautiful tune and cool idea.
That was beautiful Rob, loved it :D
I'm just amazed that he can play such beutiful music and the fact that he played it upside down its just mindblowing talented he is
man, I love your music and ever since I've starting watching your channel I've wanted to meet you so bad
Love The Song, but The Video.. Amazing! I love play on perception anything, and this blew me away! You truly An All Around Artist and I Hope You Never Stop Being You Rob Scallon ! Much Love, I can't wait for the new WheezyWaiter colab as well!
Man, you really are an incredible musician. I am really into extreme metal, but jazz, bluegrass, ambient and shoegaze-y type stuff are my other favorite genres to listen to... so naturally I really love all your material. I especially like what you can do with the eight string guitar, it's definitely up there with Tosin Abassi's technical skill and creativity when it comes to writing.
Ambrosial.. this is deeply moving.
wow i'm really impressed , this is a great and peacefull song
Rob, you would be amazing if you were in a Post Rock band.
You have true talent, sir.
What a great song!
That reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are movie soundtrack.
Fantastic melody!
Was anyone else getting a Clever Girl No Drum And Bass In The Jazz Room kinda vibe? It sorta had that feel, like a more mellow less mathy version. Solid stuff!
Hey Man! I saw some of your videos and I think you're a great composser! Good job.
Love the play on prospective. It's cool. Nice one Rob.
The galloping thumb thing you do always sounds so astonishing! Love every piece you've put out here, man!
Much thanks Cody! happy to have you as a viewer
All my stuff is a little heavier, but when I want to listen to something relaxing, it's either you or Tommy Emmanuel and John Mayer.
i like these high string count acoustic riffs man. nice stuff.
beautiful sound
The first part reminded me of the "Welcome To Your Sanctuary" track from Earthbound.
A beautiful song. Very awesome.
much thanks!
Wow! Standing on the wall is a genius idea! Wow!
So cooooool thanks Rob !! Hello from France !!
Sonzera. Conheci há anos atrás, mas não tem como não voltar aqui vez ou outra, para apreciar.
Loving the chilled vibes.
love that your profile picture is a giraffe
It's a Giraffe up a tree!
randomjasmic can't go wrong with that!
I like that you try to think out of the box when writing 8 string materiel!
Thanks! 8 string metal is fun, but I got it more for this type of stuff.
You're just amazing... the work you've put into your art is really worth it to lamewads like me. Thank you.
really good stuff man
For some reason I get glimpses of American Football in this. Good on ya mate. Great song with a great feel.
You have a surprisingly beautiful home Rob. i just can't believe i had to see it sideways to notice.
Love the optical illusion! and your music is amazing as always
Much thanks :)
I usually hate youtube add's but I'm really glad you had one =]
Another song to add to my 'One Day I will Play' list.
Awesome work. :)
tab in the description :)
very sweet!
Robert this is so very good
Awesome.
I just really hope that +Rob Scallon presses a CD soon. I would love to add this to my collection and listen to this at full quality. I'd pay whatever price for it!! Just gimme!!!
wow it's beautiful.
It's like you're playing the bass and guitar this was really good. I'm using it as a backing so I can solo over it
Wow, that was beautiful. I really loved that side camera angle; at first I thought you were sitting in an interesting, but very unusual room, then I thought you had moved everything on the walls in your room onto the floor (and vice versa), and then I finally realized what you had actually done. That was really cool. It delighted my eyes :)
Glad you enjoyed it :)
and I'm really happy that a lot of people don't seem to be picking in up right away. Mission accomplished!
