I totally agree with you so much on every single point of this vid. I play guitar for over 20 years now and recently bought my first (cheap, yet effective) 8-string multiscale and I hadn't this much fun in playing the guitar in years. Especially since I've seen all the awesome stuff people (like you) do with it besides djenting around. Not that I don't love the djent, but there's so much more to it than just that. The 8-string actually motivated me to dive deeper into music theory, scales, modes, tapping, sweeping and all this stuff that I missed out on for so long. The 8-string saved me from depression, suicidal thoughts, sleeplessness and gave me the stuff that as I can remember only the Cello gave me. So in my opinion you're 100% right. Thumbs up.

Hi, Thank you for designing such a wonderful instrument. I got my hands on a 2nd hand ml 8rs and absolutely love it. Great neck and playability, really nice pick ups I love their mellow sound. I come from classical guitar (it's my main instrument) and really like the clean tones and dynamics I get with this instrument. I don't know happened between you and Chapman guitars, but the instrument you designed is absolutely great, it's a shame they stopped producing it and I feel fortunate for having the opportunity to own one. I actually didn't know who you were until I bought the guitar and realized it was a signature instrument. The only video I saw from you in the past is one video you make a complete fool of yourself trying to play vintage classical guitars... Sorry... :)
What I like most about the 8 string is the fact that I can use all the bass techniques that don't sound as good on regular guitar and all the guitar techniques that don't work well on bass, and I can use these techniques simultaneously. I love slapping it! The thing that annoys me about the 8 string is Djent, which often underutilizes the range and over uses the bass strings, but that's not the guitar's fault. Also, that thing about the string tension is weird, the strings are greater, thicker, and longer on an 8 string putting them under more tension, so you'd think that would make them harder to fret, but I've yet to play a guitar that's easier to fret than my 8 string.
The best thing about the 8 String Guitar is that because you have 2 more lower strings you can easily transpose the song you're playing to every key so extended range Guitars are a must have for Church Gigs.
Rob, I have a request! (For after the Covid situation gets better) Can you bring a cavaco/cavaquinho player? It's a typical brazilian instrument created in Portugal. Like a ukulele but with only steel string and used on our music styles like samba, pagode and the many variations, and I think you're gonna like learning.

One thing I love with 7 strings is that im able to play Drop D songs without dropping the Low E string. Finally got one of these. Difficult to find around here. It's a hefty beast. Love that I can have a full six strings in standard tuning and still tune the last two to whatever I want. That muscle memory is still more-or-less where it used to be while I play with different intervals :) Funnily enough on the recordings I've done so far I've had a much easier time mixing it than I thought I would. Maybe 'cause I tend to write tracks that have a lot going on, the lower strings stay more easily out of the way of the synth leads and vocals and weird noises. It is playing a lot of the same notes as the bass but that seems to sort itself out without too much extra EQing.
