    If Schecter doesn't use this as their main advertisement for their 8 strings, there's no helping them

    I like how ''simple'' this sounds, and I mean it's not just a bunch of slaps taps and mindblowingly fast scales, but a creative excercise of melody, I've got nothing against the virtuosos or stuff like that, but I don't like how there are some guitarists that because they're really good at playing, all they do is the exact same thing: slaps, taps and mindblowingly fast scaling, I know they're talented, but when I hear music I want to hear the music that comes out of the talent, not a show of talent by itself, it doesn't work that way for me.

    I played an 8-string for the first time. the neck was so massive I couldn't figure out what string I was on. Then when I went back to a 6-string I kept trying to hit invisible strings

      +Agoodname22 i know man, it makes me mad that 99.9% of the people who buy 8 strings just do the chuggachugga dj0nt on the 8th string and dont realize all the posibilites with that extended range. i would kill for an 8 string :(

      +Agoodname22 I try not to hate on any guitarists for playing whatever style they like, but yeah..this is a MUCH better use of an eight string guitar. It's catching on too; there are quite a few guys out there playing extended range guitars like this.

  • @Ureyeuh

    There's just oddities about this video/song everywhere that make me happy. Firstly, it's a non-djent 8 string song that stays clean the whole way through. Secondly, it's a typical metal enviroment, but beautiful and positive. I'm so happy.
    Cpt. Obvious out.

      Thanks Jake! This was shot in Detroit. Our first location idea was Michigan Central Station, which is incredible if you want to google it. But after visiting it and seeing all the razor wire fencing, it was pretty clear the city really didn't want people going in there.

    • @Nickball97
      @Nickball97 10 лет назад +1

      Rob Scallon Noob question: Why does your string vibrate so much? Is your 8string tuned in C?

    • @vietorkoreen
      @vietorkoreen 10 лет назад +2

      Nicolas Arango It's F, and if its action is high, you don't decrease it by tightening up...it'd still buzz. That said, I think it's the FPS catching the vibration on film, and not abnormal string action.

    • @tylerwoolstenhulme6756
      @tylerwoolstenhulme6756 9 лет назад +4

      Nicolas Arango If you're still wondering, it's because the camera is running at a lower framerate than the frequency of the string, so it looks like it's moving slower than it is.

  • @andrewmoran5721
    @andrewmoran5721 10 лет назад +54

    WOW. I originally stumbled across the Slayer covers and thought, "this is amazing". Then I started watching Rob's original songs and realized - there are still some great minds out there who can master music like no one else. Thanks to Rob for getting me back to playing guitar again (although sometimes you make me wanna quit! haha) Definitely a modern-day composer similar to the likes of Mozart or Beethoven. Love it.

    Rob, this song is absolutely beautiful, I keep coming back to it. If I'm having a bad day, if things are stressful, or if things are emotionally rough, this song is an escape. It takes you away from the world, just to be enveloped in the song. Its hard to describe in words how much your music means to me. It feels like an awful waste of your time to ask you to read another comment that just says this is beautiful, but man...this is beautiful. And I'd never seen (or noticed) a capo applied just on some of the strings like that before, but I can see it opening a world of possibilities. Of course, I'm still trying to get all the music out of six regular old strings, but maybe some day...these are definitely inspirational.
