Thank you for all the great information, Pete. I am sure you will try out different edges on those knives, but if you feel like doing so,it would be very ineteresting to compare their toughness at both 17 and 20 degrees per side. Have a good day

I'm the wanker for not tuning in sooner, buy great intro and disclaimer at the start, great to see you having fun and learning at the same time. My guess is 4V is going to edge out the Cru. I have both and probably couldn't tell the diff ina blind side by side test.

A little more vanadium carbides, for the Win! There is always a chance though, that a dash of Tungsten is going to help (Cru-Wear). But not enough, this time.

Two of my absolute favorite steels here, I own both of these knives in doubles lol I have one of each that I use and sharpen and then I have one of each unused in my collection 😋
Typical collector behavior I do the same thing with my favorites. Very funny to see other people doing the same thing.
Just ordered 3 KIZER exclusives all in CPM-4v with green aluminum scales only for 150$. The sheepdog mini begleiter mini and feist. Insane good deal oh and it's 2023 so prices are insane now
I like it, I hope in the future you start doing more large fixed blade/survival type knives. Although maybe not as fun but everyone is testing the knives the same way...Baton, feather then stabby stabby stabby but none of them shows if these bigger blades can take a really razor edge and how long they'll hold it.

Mannn, I really wanted one of those St Nick's 4v para 3's but I was able to find a brand new cruwear one for half the price so I jumped on that instead....
I absolutely love the level of sharpness I got with just stropping the factory edge on it also and how easily it strops right back after use! Cruwear may be one of my favorites alongside M390 and M4, I own and like maxamet but man is it a bitch to sharpen it to the level of sharpness I like!
Hey Pete, did I understand to say that there is a phone ap for analyzing edge angles?! I just started sharpening my own knives and I’d like an accurate tool to determine blade angles. Love the channel!

Older vid, but I'm still surprised at how well CPM Cruwear stacks up against 4V. 4V has more of C, Cr, V, & Mo...I would think that 4V should actually perform better than it did!
Having said that, I actually love Cruwear over 3V or 4V. It's like hitting an EDC sweet spot.
That being said with magnacut on the market to essentially replace 4v, how do you think cruwear stacks? Same opinion?
Which steel do you think resists chipping better?
@@JC_1095out of those 3, 3v will 100% chip the least bc it’s the toughest. all of them will roll rather than chip though most likely
@@LB-np5zvi’ve heard people describe magnacut as stainless cruwear. i have a knife in both but do not have enough use w/ magnacut to say yet. but i like my cruwear a lot.

I recently got a manix 2 exclusive in 4v... I'm much more nervous about this result than I should be... I literally barely cut anything, what have you done to me 😂

Please somebody start using 4V and V4E in production models already. I got the Manix 2 and PM2 which have since doubled to tripled in standard asking price. Got the Maxace Mammoth in V4E, that is the Godzilla of folders. Wish it were DLCed, but I would not say that in earshot ot the Mammoth

Good 1, have ya heard anything about the hardness on Spyderco's 4V? Don't have a Spydie 4V, but def hope to see the Shawman in Cru-Wear or 4V, wud b perfect 4it
From videos I’ve seen it’s tested out around 63-65. That also seems to be the same numbers people are getting on the forums.
Manix 2 is usually 63-64, PM2s 65-66
They did a Shaman in this series, hardest to find. All limited to 500 or so pieces, and PM2 is going for $500 standard. Natives still popping up sub $200 even here and there

? This is curious.... every time I test my 4V fixed blades against my Cru-Wear blades, the Cru-Wear easily wins out. Interesting.
Cruwear being better 4v is backed up by larinn thomas' data but they are close enough that they can come within error in manual testing.

I've Always said that cruwear although a good steel is a bit overrated and 4V underrated.

The Svarn II is without a doubt the best folding knife I've ever owned. The titanium inlayed into carbon fiber was simply beautiful. The action was smoother than washers ever should be.
Beautiful craftsmanship, but, at the end of the day, its "just" m390. Fantastic all around steal, but there's much better steels as far as edge retention goes.
Unbelievable how far steel has come. We're at a point where people have actually said "just M390", and been completely serious.
Anyway, cheers from NY. Cultrotech puts out an amazing product. One of the few I'm proud to say I've owned.
