- We like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV (RM208k to RM270k) so much that 3 of us have booked one. Find out why Hafriz Shah thinks it's the best all-rounder electric car in Malaysia yet in this review.
Full details and gallery: bit.ly/Hyundai-Ioniq-5-Malaysia Авто/Мото
Seeing Hafriz next to this beast of a car really puts the size into perspective
Pro Tip: if you feel the video is abit too long, it is still fairly watchable at 1.25x speed 😅
it really is watchable 😂
Good tip.. Lol
1.25 really sweet spot. 😅
1.75
Just skip to the end..
A very good review. My only complain is when Hafriz commented on the solar roof, he needs to be clear the solar roof does not charge the big battery, it only charges the 12V battery and supplements all things drawing from the 12V battery. The way it was said gives the impression the solar roof charges the big battery. Also, may be Hyundai Malaysia should drop the solar roof, and bring back the HUD, this probably makes more sense. I don't think people care much about getting a few extra km from the solar roof each day, do you?
Finally a complete Ioniq5 review in Malaysia, great in depth review as usual
Looking forward to a review of Kia EV6, and possibly a comparison between the car and Hyundai Ioniq 5 (since they are both sister companies and have nearly identical power, range, charging speed, & etc)
Price diff is RM30k. EV6 has a bit more range due a s slightly bigger battery
Congratulations 200k
Me dream car. Sports car performance, no engine noise, superb torque. AWD . At a very good price. Long range. Plus it is sold worldwide
The Honda e used to be my favourite until this car was released. It's got the range, performance and the retro future looks.
Great review and let's wait for the Nissan Ariya see which one is the best performer.
just luv your reviews..honesty & truth & detailed SYABAS
a very good presentation bro....) good english too.
Complete review, i’m considering getting one, but the lead time is 8 month long 😢, regards from indonesia
Wow.. What camera are you using.. So clear.. Anyway I like that you point out the cons as well
That solar roof is awesome! The glove drawer too! Hyundai definitely popping out banging cars at the moment!
Awesome how? For an extra few km each day? It adds to the to car price, and adds about 25kg to the highest point of the car, this will affect handling somehow. I would rather they drop the solar roof and use the money saved for the HUD.
@@voonpiaosiang2262 Technologically, you cannot deny that it is cool.
In floods, what depth of water can the car survive before the battery is damaged?
I hope to see this compare to Mercedes EQ cars. Hope you guys do reviews for those EQs
I put in my order for a Max back in February with Sime, and am still waiting for my unit. Was told only 15 units have been delivered (!!!). Is that true? And VIPs allegedly allowed to jump queue…. allegedly. Was also told I may have to wait till Q1 2023 (exclamation mark again)
Same here, was offered lite/plus if I want it faster, but insisted on Max…15 units was the first batch with 3-5 max units I was told…wondering if Paul got his from the first batch or after as I was told that there were no max units in yet after the 15 units first batch…atleast you got some indication on when you’ll get yours, I asked my salesperson today, he gave up on predicting when max units will arrive…tried his luck offering me kona max…hell no….
hmm does the malaysia version missing the HUD/AR display?
Why wasn't Hyundai in the EVX2022? was actually more excited to see this in the flesh than even Model 3 or IX4
Hi PT. Why you buy this one? Not Tesla model
hmm doesnt that mean hyundai doesnt have a battery charging optimization tech to reduce wear?
Hey Hafriz, any comment on charging infrastructure in Malaysia. Can I use it for long drives to Penang and JB?
Penang and JB is easy. Only east coast may be challenging. You can look for an app called Plugshare in the app store. Download it to see where the EV chargers are in Malaysia.
You dont have to wear the face mask when you driving alone… I still dont get it… By the way, still a very good and unbiased review from you. Good job
Thanks!
The Ioniq 5 craze will taper off eventually
You only mentioned the charge max on DC; what is the AC limitation?
AC 11kW
Looking forward for the Genesis GV60
Totally Agree!
Please review Kia EV6.. thanks
Other than output, torque, 360camera, what is the significant different between Lite n top spec?
The smaller battery, shorter range, smaller wheels (19s), no seat ventilation and relaxation mode, no Bose speakers, powered rear seat adjustment. A few other cosmetic differences too
I seem to see you on the way to ,bandar putra ioi but not sure.🙂
The potential problem is the EV charging points will not be well maintained and being make not available. Shown as it is there but being there it is defective and resulting in range anxiety.
ev at the moment is suitable for city drive. At 400km plus range, it is a lot of juice already
You can do long journey if there is a Shell Fast DC Charge station along the way. The Ioniq 5 will be all charged up and good to go in 20 mins. The Shell Fast DC Charge stations are expensive, but for those do not do long journey on a regular basis they are perfect.
good review but u need to wash the car before the shoot la...
Ive been studying in Malaysia for 4 yrs, first Masters and now doing phd. Didnt come across anyone talking english to clear haha. Good to hear your clear, detailed & to the point review!
May want to expand your horizon then. Plenty of Malaysians speak coherent English
@@rekshavanmanimaran9819 Maybe our study doesn't allow me to look outside limited academic boundary haha.
Good review, as usual. An honest feedback, though: drop the "Me, personally...." It's non colliquial.
can u and the video person do a test before filming and if both negative, do this car review without the mask? much appreciate it...
If this is the price, it will be difficult for us to switch to EV cars.
there are no cheap ev for now, even have only those for city use
only china brand will bring the price down but would you buy one? i mean malaysian are too brand conscious
even ev become cheaper still gonna be hard for malaysian that have enjoyed too much subsidies
@@ahwai82 China cars now have better quality bro. Even, Proton is a China car now and we all knows how good Proton cars nowadays. Other China brand like Haval also good.
@@CaviarRecon did these Chinese car ever sold in Europe/ north American market?
Nice
Seating at the rear are quit scarly . Pls try it and feel it .
Can the recliner function be used by the passenger while driving ?
Yes but perhaps not recommended as the seatbelt would not be able to do its job so well.
tbh really interested in this car, badge delete and it would look soooo futuristic!
The design is very2x impressive and that creates peoples' attention.
Buat la review experience using EV balik kampung, let say KL-Penang-KL.
kalau nak ke penang, jb, terlalu senang untuk ev yang saiz bateri mcmni sekarang. charger banyak. nanti content bosan pulak. east coast je challenging sikit.
"Froot... I dunno what that is"
"Frunk! Come on man!" 😂
Ev adoption is disaster in Malaysia. Till now almost 90% of air pump in petrol station cannot be use. I don't think they will maintain the ev charging terminal.
Sudah booking, x sabar nk drive
I’ve seen this car at glenmarie about 2 times haha AML 147
the 5 N is superb
Top Selling Electric car in Indonesia with 2.000 Sold
with just 5 to 6 km extra per day i would not take the solar option that can lead me to extra maintenance auwch
Nice car.
Letak magnet kt boot dpn utk Jimat electric hahaha
My dream car that I can’t afford
Might have been an idea to mask Paul’s plate number. But maybe he doesn’t worry about privacy. 🤷🏽♂️
can someone tell me how ioniq 5 stands over volvo xc40 EV? Price is similar
i will definitely choose this. Very fast charging capability, very good looking outside and inside, the best autonomous driving so far(as of hafriz opinion). Everything is almost no complain except for the very comfortable ride. Is that a minus for you? Not for me
xc40 is better than ioniq 5 lite version , even with ioniq 5 plus version , but ioniq 5 max version is better than XC40
@@idealoptique Watched many reviews that XC40 EV got worse ride quality, performance, charging times, km range & handling than this Ioniq 5, better watch many reviews for comparison 1st.
According to many reviews, the Ioniq 5 is definitely a whole lot better than XC40 EV in many aspects.
Morse code H, H for:
Honda
Haval
Hongqi
Hyundai
Good review. But, drop the "me, personally," please. It's non-colloquial English.
Kalau kereta ni bila beli dapat sekali power bank, mmg terbaik. So klau balik kedah nanti dari baling boleh la caj dulu sblm sampai penang. Ada emergency kut
Is there wireless Android Auto ?
No , you need a cable for it
Not yet which is weird because some Hyundai's do have it.
Maybe the frunk can be used for "ikan bakar" since the motor will produce heat ...LoL 🤣🤣🤣 this is indeed a value buy car. One day I will afford it.
Better EVs are coming to those who wait.
Saw this exact same car in Klang general hospital pakar parking. His wife maybe?
Yes ive seen it too. Its there everyday. Saw people taking pictures with it also.
My concern is the computation of road tax.
Here’s hoping government already did heavy revision on the EV road tax pricing to be more cheaper and feasible after the EV road tax exemption period ends on 31st dec 2025. I am definitely not ready to pay RM3k annual road tax for a >80kWh BEV car engine output power. 🥲💸
Rm0
I believe the comment about future tax, you do not want to purchase a car later your road tax gonna cost you rm3000.00 a year
This car look like in 90s futuristic movie in 2020 or 2030
Hahaha tak sempat basuh dulu ke bos
Wish i could afford one but unless Perodua build an EV i'm not gonna own one sadly. And unless Malaysia took note of Norway, i don't think EV is gonna have a bright future here. It's just gonna be a bangsawan car.
800volt architecture > all
Oh price raised from 199k
I feel this car is solid plastic . Which part is expensive ? Battery ?
The whole package is expensive.. can you relate when he compare it to other more expensive bmw ev's?
why the mask tho? outdoor maa
A bit better than american Tesla in term of affordable and price too.
Fact: Solar Module getting less efficient as higher temperature. Solar requires sun radiation and not the heat.
Yup, just saying since we have to suffer getting the sun all year long, it's nice to get something back for a change 😉
Never heard of Mr Paul Ton. But its ok i’ll just pretend its Paul Tan.
From your commented on resemblances its looks lowered Tiguan and Macan😁
Pro Tip: it's a good idea to WASH the car before reviewing it
price like a harrier but trade off with cheap interior for ev in country that fuel is dirt cheap, not a lot of sense.
don't get ppl wrong , 90% of ppl who bought EV is not about to save money for petrol . it is about getting new 'gadget' for them
@@idealoptique You got them wrong. People in that category gets m3.
Charging still takes more time compre to ICE car. Hopefully in future charging time will be the same as refuelling.
Kete2 kimchi mcm Hyundei & Kie mana laku di Malaysia. Kt US laku tp kt Malaysia berape kerat je trjual stiap taun. So spare parts CONFIRMED jd isu sbb kluarga sy pemilik Naza Rondo & Naza Suria yg direbage dr kete2 kimchi. JGN CARI NAHAS !!!
This is wayyyyy better than Tesla
Please wash the car before shooting video if possible.
Why need to wear mask outdoor?
Is it only me or the ioniq 5 has proton preve vibes in terms of its design?
you need to wait for at least one hour to fully charge the car.
10~80% in 18mins (180kw charge)
It's only 20 minutes if you use superfast DC chargers
Kalau banjir habis hilang 200k😂
One sentence. Malaysians don’t need this type expensive cars. Case closed!
Getting very dangerous on the road for such a fast EV car and you need to really control the throttle.
First
the car could do some cleaning i guess XD
please make it cheaper to compensate for the time we lose during charging, the environment we save, and the oil reserve we keep,
Sonata at about 190k, Santa fe between 160k to 207k. Just comparing Hyundai cars prices it's not really that far off. With ease of maintenance and no need to topup for gas, I think it's worth it
As alternative
You can purchase Hyundai Kona EV instead
Price range about Civic
its looks like gundam
dah kenapa still pakai mask 🤦🏻♂️
i prefer mazda mx-30
Cool story bro
Please wash the car la
Kereta gaban ni
Warna dalaman pula warna mcm tu.cepat kotor
Ada interior hitam jugak bro 😎
@@hafrizshah4937 interior hitam spec ke berapa bro?
Too long..
I have seen it on the road, quite ugly actually
To me for 200k it just doesn't have the wow factor, both the look exterior & interior wise just seems outdated. It's a future tech vehicle but looks like 90s hatchback.
Why taking a video of a dusty car? Please someone take it to car wash please
It's much too expensive for a Korean car, even if it's an EV.
