I watched the review when it came out, though I did not comment. But now, in reply, I say, "Yes, Thomas, thank you. This is quite an old review now, but this is one of my favourite reviews." The location is beautiful, the camera work and editing is great, I love the images looking forward through the windscreen, and you seem to be enjoying yourselves. (One person said the review was boring(!); some say VW are boring. I am a car enthusiast so am never bored with Autogefuhl as they show us all about a car; and I'm never bored with cars!). Oh, and the car you are driving here is quite nice too! (The Tiguan in its standard spec is expensive compared with its traditional rivals: Qashqai, CX-5, Kuga. But in its "full-spec" fully-loaded form it is better equipped, less money and of similar - ha! - quality against the X3, Q3, XC60, Disco Sport and GLC...?).

+Autogefühl Ja! Danke. I liked it. The ice drifting looked fun. Thanks for asking the questions about the Mexican made long wheel base version. Exactly the question I was hoping for :) This will be the only version we get in North America. I'm glad to know that since it will also be sold in Germany too that the quality should be very similar. What remains to be seen is if the American market will also get all of the features that you showed us such as the heated steering wheel and head up display. VW America usually gives us a little less, such as a smaller NAV screen, non-electronic parking brake, no DSG and such to keep costs down. In honesty, I wish VW also sold us the short wheelbase version. I'm wondering if the long version will be a good thing or bad thing looks and driving wise? The only complaints I have with the new Tiguan is what appears to be less headroom than its predecessor.
Excellent review. One of the best I have seen. Even though English is not your first language - your tone, clarity and communications style are first class. You certainly persuaded me that this new Tiguan looks like a real global winner.

I got a 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline with panoramic glass sunroof. In deep black pearl effect. Can't wait! Picking it up this Friday!!!!
The weird thing is that the 162TSI highline has duel split chrome exhaust while the 140TDI highline and all the other variants only have the normal 2 pipe exhaust on the left.
I am super excited because my model has the most powerful engine for Australia! And it's 0-100km/h is 6.5 seconds! It's the 162kw/350nm torque from the GTI!!!
And it looks amazing!

First class review. Best I have seen by far. Full marks to presenter and crew. Awaiting delivery of my Tiguan to Ireland. 8-10 weeks! Can't wait. Car looks perfect but I suppose time will be the real test. Am interest to see what the fuel consumption will be. 2.0 TDI. I get 53 mpg on my Audi A4 2.0 TDI and will be happy with that.

This was an excellent review. I appreciated how thorough you were in explaining the engine variety. I own the 2010 version and I am very proud to see the Tiguan grow up. This is well a built vehicle that has quality materials in the interior. Yes, I too love the sound of the closing doors. The seats are so comfortable I could drive for miles with no fatigue. It is the most fun you can have on four wheels. This is engineering at it's best. You get a fun driving solid machine with the human touch.

Speaking about the both cars, definitely I would go for the 2.0 TDI with 150 hp, DSG and 4Motion with the mix seats ( cloth and alcantara in the middle and electrically).
Also this video has responded to me that 2.0 TDI with 150 hp and DSG is suitable not only for the Skoda Superb with front wheels drive, but even for a compact SUV with 4 wheels drive and I think it's suitable even for the long wheel base version with seven seats.

Only difficulty I had was that during the ice lake portion, seeing the actual path of the car wasn't easy...but the skillful driving and sense of fun were terrific! Fantastic review Thomas ! Both Tiguans, orange and red, look amazing against that Swedish snow ! I think VW did a remarkable job on this model. Interior and exterior are sporty, sharp and elegant and are in sync with each other. I'm not crazy about the heads up display . I prefer a display that appears on the windscreen , especially for tall drivers such as myself. The display on this type of system usually appears on the windshield wipers rather than on the road ahead. But that is a minor criticism. Overall , this SUV looks and performs like a champ ! Thanks for the great in depth and detailed review. And by the way, your new eyeglasses look great too ! U.S. loves Autogefuhl !!! Nice Job !!!!!

this is a much better looking vehicle. I love that darker red colour. I'm interested to see what VW does with the Touareg when they bring a 7 seat version of this.

+kevin n yeah it was =) I also had the thought with the Touareg, VW says that the Touareg is more premium and therefore different (e.g. bigger engines available). However, I think the current Touareg will be too close to the 7-Seater-Tiguan, that's why the all-new Touareg will surely be larger

We have bought the 1.4l TSI VW Tiguan today in full metallic black exterior (looks really beasty!) We are ofcourse keeping our fingers crossed incase of annoying factory malfunctions it might have.
Overall this car is sublime to drive in and i personally love the design with LED headlights!

The first time I saw the new Tiguan, I was not all that impressed with the design especially in the front, but watching you guys made me think otherwise. :))
I like the back end of the Tiguan. The design is as you said like the Passat, and it's growing on me.
I really like the review of the "Closing sound quality" of the doors and glove box. Very keen and German indeed which I really admire. Hahaha.

My sister lives very close to where this was filmed. I live in Scotland. The cold tests performed in Sweden are in many cases a waste of time. The cold in Sweden is a very dry cold. In Scotland we don't get as cold temperatures, but our cold is a 'damp/wet' cold, which is much harsher on things like brake calipers, door locks, etc. We have bought new VW's ever two years since 1975 and locks always freeze in around -10c. According toVW, they test to -40c and have no problems. Test the cars in a cold/damp climate and they WILL see more problems.
+Clive Sinclair Good point and I agree with you, it's like comparing the damp cold in Montreal with the dry cold of Winnipeg, and yes the locks did freeze on most VW.

Engines pistons crash in vag group. VW Group not say anything and not do anything.

TSI and TFSI are crap engines. DSG also. Diesel is ok.

I like all of your in depth reports and especially this report, as I am awaiting the delivery of my R.Line. So, is it possible to talk a little more about ergo seating, the ambient lighting in the door trims and the lighting around the panoramic sunroof...preferably at night, or in a low light environment. Do you have an idea of when it will be? I have literally exhausted all the videos of the New Tiguan...and honestly, they don't come anywhere near your review.
since this car is a family car in fact. please add in next review/agenda some specific for passengers. for example - comfort of stroller transportation, install\uninstall child seat, something a bit more about entertainment features for all. a bit more info about practical usage of different ways of various motion types usage (snow, regular, etc).
from other side - review is really cool! and leaves very pleasant impressionf from VW Tiguan. thank you very much!

VW of North America, if you want to keep selling cars in the US and Canada, bring the new Tiguan here without delay. Your buyers need this, your dealers need this. And don't give us a watered down, milquetoast version like the NA Passat, or a giant SUV version that looks like every other giant SUV on the road. I own a Golf Sportwagen, but if this car had been available, this is what I would be driving right now.

I just recently got a 2020 r-line , I like the design and the drive . I just wish it had a bit more engine displacement, 230hp for the petro model would be perfect ! I did get into the Tiguan out of a 335 so maybe it's just going to take a bit getting adjusted to the power difference... overall I like it nice ride !

This review draw lots of comments...loved both the car and the review! VW did an amazing job by putting this design it draws its attractiveness from its simplicity. I thought for a second that the center console was reminiscent of a Porshe......IDK maybe just my eyes. With all goodies inside and outside this might hit the new upcoming Q5...let's wait for Audi on that

The problem with having a large digital screen as instrument gauge is that it's harmful and stressful to the eyes if it's not low-bluelight and anti-flicker! There's a reason why newer computer monitors have those features!
epic review thomas, thank you for such a detailed and lengthy review. this is now my frontrunner to replace my jetta. i will need to test drive it of course when it lands here, but going by your video its about 90% of what i need. i had one query which you may be able to answer, i have a very large friend, (7 feet tall, about 150 kgs), that i pick up and drop off from time to time, do you think there would be enough space in the rear passenger area? the jetta handles my friend with ease, but im thinking it may be tight in the tiguan.
+ozzycarnut the new rear compartment offers plenty of space, that shouldnt be a problem!

du hast gerade mal 10 sek über das "überarbeitete" DSG geredet hätte mir da deutlich mehr gewünscht, die elektronischen stabilitätshilfen hattest du ja um welten besser im Kopf, außerdem fand ich es schade das du die (soweit ich weiß) neuen Schaltwippen nicht angesprochen hast die nun beim DSG am Lenkrad dabei sind, ansonsten alles angesprochen vielleicht etwas zu viel Schneegequatsche, das Video hätte man deutlich kürzer fassen können aber im großen und ganzenn hast du alles relevante angesprochen freue mich auf den neuen auf den ich dann wahrscheinlich umsteigen werde. wennn du mir meine Fragen beantworten könntest wäre ich dir sehr dankbar MFG :)

I quite like the Tiguans styling, although I do much prefer the old generations styling more. Has very strange lights and the front bumper is quite strange in my opinion. Although I do like the interiors of the Tiguans. Also, I know that from watching your reviews, you are not the biggest fan of Jaguars interiors (the new XE and XF for example) which is surprising because you said the quality of RRs is much better and why they can't have that quality in the jaguars is confusing. But anyway, I was wondering if you will possibly be able to get your hands on an F-Pace. I would be interested to see if the quality you said the Evoque had was also in the new F-Pace. I was just wondering because I suppose that it is a more of an expensive competitor to this. Also good review as always. :D

I am very impressed with this car. it's very handsome no it's a beautiful design and the interior quality looks great. my 2016 audi a4 still has the edge on interior quality bit it really is stunning inside. I recently sold my audi q3 but if I wanted another cv I would seriously consider this. thanks for great review.

Finally finished watching the entire video :) Another good video Autogefhül...
but not "great" as your other ones, here's why in a few comments :
- track "fun" : it isn't so interesting from a viewer point, as you'd need more viewing angles to make us enjoy the experience (maybe limit this part to 1mn top, use a camera on your forehead and/or static cameras from outside to understand how you're placing the car)
- text overlay : you should really use some for numbers (hp, torque, size etc)
- front design : you didn't describe as much as you usually do (where's the ACC sensor, what kind of headlights this one had...)
- interior : yes this HUD is cheap, just like Peugeot had on 3008 from day 1...
Also what about HUD and LCD cluster with polarized glasses, is it compatible or you just see none of the infos ?
Not clear if door panels and armrest were in cloth or higher material (I hate cloth for those areas, it never stay clean)
It also looks like the storage compartments were not cover with liner...
Navigation unit is a bit low, why couldn't they put it to top just like Golf SportsVan ? (and have vents on the side)
- trunk : you didn't mention the volume, it would be great to take measurements too (eg. max length /height it can handle)
Compared to my current Golf 7 SW, it's really shorter (and much more expensive) ; so I'm not sure it's as spacious (cargo and passenger wise). I hope the LWB will appear in France too (and with gasoline engine, can't stand the noise of diesels).
+sebxx thanks for the feedback. I ll try to put the camera a bit higher. Bright snow was a problem for the lens. The HUD yes, you cannot see it with polarized glasses that sucks.
Thomas, do you think you could try adding some overlay animation and text figures illustrating dimensions and technical data of a car under review? I know it's not so easy, but it would have been a major improvement for your reviews.

Excellent review! I really enjoyed watching it, and think you guys did an excellent job on also testing the 'normal' stuff (like riding comfort) in these rather different conditions.
As for the Tiguan, wow! I like the way it looks on the outside, especially the ruby red color is very beautiful. I would not have the offroad package though, those dark plastic parts are not my thing.
The light interior is really great too. And the inside is very nice and very familiar to me (I drive a Golf 7 GTI, and so many elements are the same), The only thing I would miss is 'my' steering wheel, I always found the standard one as is fitted here a bit strange. I guess I would pass on the head up display, that is the only thing that doesn't seem to be up to the high level that the rest of the car has.
The car apparently drives really well too, I'm quite impressed. I get the feeling they are going to be selling a boat load of these cars, because they seem to have gotten everything right for this car.
And I am a little bit jealous, because driving (and sliding) on the ice seems like a lot of fun to me! But that was a nice reward for your hard work on this review. I hope you let the camera man have a go too, because he had a less desirable job standing in the cold while you were creating a snow storm! :-)

In South Korea it was reported to media reports in April that European local market in Korea is hoping many consumers want a new tiguan released as soon as possible. Watch out cold

I Like the Tiguan , every thing is good with the technology , the brand but I'm still waiting the day that VW will give more in the design side , because it's really high demand in such a car like this to be complete.

Well done, Excellent review Thomas, We live in rural New Brunswick Canada and last winter, we received more than 4.5 meters of snow. My wife is presently driving her second Tiguan 4 motion and loves it for the same reasons that you mentioned in your testing of the new Tiguan. However, she is worried that the next Tiguan will not be as good as the one she has now. We do not believe what VW is telling you that their Mexico build cars are as good as the one from Germany for example the Passat made in the US is designed for the US and it does not handle and feel like the Germany made Passat. Unfortunately, Canada gets what the US gets :( lets hope that the 2017 Canadian Tiguan made in Mexico will be as good as the one you drove in Sweden.
