Which is best? Mazda CX-5 vs Volkswagen Tiguan 2017

- This time there won’t be any semi-final fight between Toyota RAV4, Honda CRV and so on, so on and so on. My invincible belief is that in this vehicle grade against such a monster named as Volkswagen Tiguan only refined Mazda CX5 can compete. Our new comparison test-drive will show if am I right or wrong.

Bought the Tiguan R-Line in Black on white (they call in dove grey) leather two weeks ago. Test drove the Mazda but the Tiguan felt more planted, and in Canada the 4motion AWD system in the Tiguan is the best in class. The Pano roof is alos a fantastic touch. Couldn't be happier.

Never believe what you read... Nice one to the reviewer! This just shows that the German company is lying again with 0-60mph speed. It was eating nothing but Mazda's dust which was way ahead of it. What a shame... excellent review, very useful to people trying to buy a compact SUV and making the right decision.
Wow this is the best review comparison i've seen yet! i wish you could do the american versions of these vehicles with their petrol engines since Diesel is not available for either of these suv's yet in north america :(

Actually, it was the most comprehensive review of comparing cars I have ever seen.
I enjoyed the detailed explanations, frank comments and also lovely accent. Just I would like you to pronounce the word TIGUAN like “TEE-GWAN” This is how it pronounced in Germany and it means Tiger.

Great test. I'm driving petrol version of CX-5 and I'm perfectly happy with it. I was wondering what CX-5 could have had if it cost that 16,2 ths bucks more or if there was such option. What I find very attractive is HUD, heated steering wheel and 12-zone matrix LED lights (this would never cross my mind before I owned it).
Guys keep up those great tests. You are one of the best that could be found out here on YT.

Nice review. I was choosing between these two cars. I chose CX-5 and I love it. It is a great price and has everything I need and want in a compact suv. Perfect car for me. Tiguan is also beautiful

Had to choose between these two, went with Tiguan due to better/newer cockpit technology and digital experience, practicality, and robustness. CX-5 had better interior materials but the cockpit looks a bit dated.
Reliability is best in Mazda CX 5 for long term.... Tiguan many times dsg gearbox failure jacket on the low gear on my car which is major issues..just sold off

sorry my friend the mazda cx-5 is the better car.the difference in money with the 2 cars you had there is not 15,000 but 16,200.there is no way the vw is worth that kinda money more.get a 16,000 cheaper Tiquan and you will find its no where near the mazda.i must say i have driven both and i find them the best in class but the mazda if you include value for money and reliability wins it for me.

These vehicles are not on par. The spec has to much closer to convince me either way. The Tiguan is bigger and heavier than the Mazda.

Compare the warranty's. 72,000/6 year for VW. 32,000/3 year for Mazda. A no brainer.
Tiguan is far more practical,has more technology,is far more comfortable,handles better and has superior AWD in snow and off road, drives better, get a 2.0TSI with 220HP if you want more power, as for the drag race results, they are subjective because you are using 2 different brands of tires, and 2 different drivers...it means nothing.
people always forget that small details matter a lot, you won't understand until you own a German vehicle. The Mazda has 2 advantages, reliability, and fuel economy, it is shit in everything else.

If we talk about going off road with Mazda CX5 and VW Tiguan all of you would see that Mazda CX5 is just bag of rubish, waste of money, and that's why VW is more expensive, is more luxury and look more expensive then his rival.
Today you can buy a watch $ 30.000 and a the same one for $ 300 but the quality of the expensive one you can't compare with the cheap one.
This is for all VW haters which doesn't whant to admit that VW is way more better than Mazda.
LOL the Tiguan is miles better. It is very classy, elegant, powerful, and practical. Look at the size of the CX-5 and yet it has less overall volume, the Tiguan has a better awd, exceptional safety features and some of the best technology. Tiguan costs the same as CX5 in my country, we see dozens of Tiguan and barely any Mazda.

let me correct you, the new CX-5 has been released, it costs more than the basic Tiguan, to be specific it is 6000 $ more. crazy that mazda is now so expensive.
