2019 Compact SUV Challenge - Cars.com

- With a killer combination of affordability, utility and fuel economy, the juggernaut compact SUV class is partially responsible for marginalizing the classic family sedan. Perhaps the most recognized small SUVs in this class are the eternally feuding Honda CR-V and redesigned-for-2019 Toyota RAV4, which we tested in a multiday comparison along with five other 2019 models: the updated Hyundai Tucson, updated Jeep Cherokee, Nissan Rogue, redesigned Subaru Forester and defending champion of this test, the Volkswagen Tiguan. None of these are bad SUVs - even last place wasn't far behind most competitors, especially in the subjective categories we judge. Every SUV except for one topped the rest of the field in at least one category. Rather than look at just the winner, we recommend that you find the SUV that's excellent in a way that's important to you.

Escape, CX-5, Equinox, and Sportage... didn’t get an invitation
Because Equinox would win and heaven forbid an American brand come out on top.
You didn't mention cargo space, fuel economy, prices and left a lot of information by the roadside, I want my 24 minutes and 51 seconds back!
Augusto Lugo me too... after not car shopping for 18 yrs.. I need details spec gas etc & these guys didn’t deliver...
CR-V has the most cargo / passenger space, best fuel economy, and the lowest price loaded. Best all around value (even 3 years later lol).

Good comparison review but would have been a great one with the inclusion of the Mazda CX5, Ford Escape and Kia Sportage.
Older, oldest, and old.
Ford’s Escape just introduced an all-new 2020 model and the Sportage is basically a Tucson.
Also the Outlander
That Mazda CX looks nice
All of them would’ve done amazing.
Regarding dinging Subaru for not "having a more holistic design (e.g. everything buried in screen menus)" - having buttons for critical controls OUTSIDE the touch screen is one of the better things Subaru is doing. Screens fail. Like Toyota, they don't trust them yet with basic climate control, volume control, autonomous safety control, etc. Most of these cars, if the main screen goes down, you don't just lose your radio - you can't manipulate fundamental systems.
You can't dislike the way the Honda buried everything, even volume controls, in their 'holistic' center screen, then chide Subaru, Toyota etc for not repeating that mistake. I can turn my seat heater on without taking my eyes off the road, and that should never change. You can duplicate such controls in the screen through CAN bus messaging if you must and lose absolutely nothing in either respect.
While you are correct with mentioning that the physical controls allow you to remember where each button is, I also think that manufacturers like VW are still making high quality screens and infotainment system, that is unlikely to break or get damaged. You did provide a good argument though.
I like the fact the car has an analogue speedometer and tachometer and it's not busy in the display it shows you what you need to see. Honda has the silliest instrument layout IMO, I hate digital speedometers because it's hard to maintain a constant speed as you don't know if you are heading towards a higher or lower speed when you have the Police behind you and in general I find a needle much easier to glance at and get the gist of the speed I'm travelling than seeing 63mph on a display. In contrast who needs the big tachometer all across the top on a crossover? it's like something off a track day motorcycle - yet they found fault with the Subaru!!
What about the oft reported problems of oil dilution using the turbocharged version of the Honda CR-V that Honda has recently admitted to there being an issue?
These people aren't going to report it. For some reason, they want people to buy crap. The Mitsubishi Outlander is more reliable than any of these. Has more features than most of them. And has the best warranty. Yet it was left out.
Hope you guys do the luxury crossover segment again soon.
Looking to buy a used 2019 small SUV. 3 years later and this video has been very informational! Thank you. Well done.
which onw u recommend please for a lady
Just picked up a 19 Forester Sport, honestly I like it so far. Yea the controls for the screens take some getting use to but it's not terrible. I don't think the top trim of any of these aside from probably the Tuscon is the best value of for the class, nor will they be the volume trims sold or leased for each model. Mid-trim specs would be appreciated since they don't usually get the biggest wheels and will greater represent what will be seen on the roads.
Unfortunately, comparing "mid-trim" models involves lots of caveats. What is a "mid-trim" vehicle from one manufacturer may be more appropriately compared to top trim from another. Manufacturers typically make their top trim vehicles available to reviewers (if they meet the upper limit price criterion) because they want to demonstrate the range of features available on a particular vehicle. Comparing top trims also involves some caveats but at least the comparison is between what manufacturers consider their "best" examples.
Stephen Hendricks it’s actually very easy, if you bother to do a couple of hours of research. Most companies package them fairly similarly in order to be competitive. The issue is that the manufacturers only lend the top trims to show off. If they could borrow from dealers, it’d be different. Ready?
Rav4 XLE AWD
Forester Premium
CR-V EX AWD
Tiguan SE AWD
Tucson Value AWD
Rogue SV AWD
All similarly priced and packaged.
@@afcgeo882 I'll take your word for the comparisons, George. But a number of reviewers DO borrow examples of vehicles from dealers rather than reviewing manufacturer supplied vehicles. The difficulty is that few dealers are prepared to lend a reviewer a vehicle for a week or more for a detailed review. So reviews of dealer supplied vehicles usually consist of a "walk around," an examination of the interior, and, at best, a short test drive. And unfortunately some of those reviews look more like infomercials for a dealer than an objective review.
RAV4 XSE beats all the competition, 40+MPG, Panoramic Sunroof, JBL audio and love the softex seats. If you regret buying a RAV4, it has great resale.
I just bought a used Jeep Cherokee a couple weeks ago, which is how I ended up here. I absolutely love it. My only complaint is the short shifting 9-speed. It shifts a little hard and at weird times, but I am getting used to the timing. I have noticed that it shifts a lot more smoothly if you accelerate at the right pace. I also looked at the Tuscon (too small for me), Rogue (outdated and ugly interior), and CR-V (couldn't afford it and didn't like it anyway). If I had the money for the Forrester or the Tiguan I would have gone that route, but I'm still quite happy.
Which one is best for parking. Please demonstrate
Where is the Mazda CX-5 signature? Why is left out? The others aren’t even close
They said Mazda declined to participate in this test
Thomas Mazzola what do you mean! If it’s the best why doesn’t it sell? Toyota RAV4 is the best no questions asked. Reliability. Toyota sold over 430,000 units. They will probably sell more this year than last year. Mazda isn’t feen close.
@@JJustinXu did you even listen to the opening statement? The Rogue is in last place and yet it will still sell hundreds of thousands of units, because the average consumer is a 🐑! Also, Mazda is a much smaller company so they are also at an intrinsic disadvantage when it comes to sales figures. Sales don't tell the full story you fool!
Steven Joe actually it does. Toyota makes the best cars and it’s the truth. They are the most reliable and Lexus.what other car company can beat them in reliability. No one can and no one ever will.
@@JJustinXu Your delusional, watch the video again, the Rav 4 came in 5th place out of 7! It's mediocre at best, even it's above average reliability can't save it. It's time to face reality, Toyota is great at making reliable toasters. I would much rather purchase a Kia or Hyundai, which have the second longest standard warranties, excellent initial reliability ratings, and most importantly some personality!
You forgot mentioning safety ratings and off-road capabilities? Very important things in a "family" car I think!
This was a good video and a nice comparison.
Buddy gotta use the break to spool up that turbo in the CRV tho and hit that VTEC.
Do you guys think we should avoid diesels and go hybrid? Is the market changing at the moment?
It amazes me that people still pay premium money for Nissan products. Just no.

I actually enjoyed these reviews. I am currently in a 2014 Jeep Cherokee & plan to upgrade to the Cherokee Upland V6. Although Jeep scored next to last, the reason I am shopping for an upgrade immediately eliminated other possibilities in this testing video. Other brands may have tested better overall, but they had drawbacks where I don't want to cut corners. So, for me it wasn't necessarily who's the best, but what are the features of each compact SUV and which one works well for me. So, thanks guys!
Good review but a quick-glance comparative analysis chart would help consumers make an informed decision using specific parameters
7. Nissan Rogue
6. Jeep Cherokee
5. Toyota Rav4
4. Honda CR-V
3. Hyundai Tucson
2. Subaru Forrester
1. Volkswagen Tiguan
I am planning to buy a suv but unable to figure which suv, every suv has some issues, budget friendly and longterm suv, experts suggestion would be helpful
Dimitri D I was looking at Crv, Mazda CX-5 , rav4 and Forester. Did not want turbo so nixed the Honda, did not like the cx5 on test drive. Came down to rav4 and Forester. Consumer reports delayed a full view on the rav4 until yesterday and did not have good things to say about it. They rated the Forester extremely high. So much so that only two vehicles of any kind scored higher than it, another Subaru, and the Toyota Avalon. We bought the premium model and got it for almost 3000 under msrp. They also rated Subaru as the highest auto company in the USA. Loving it so far.
Me too!, I loved my Honda CR-V. But it had a problem with rear end fluid. Had to change it constantly. Honda wouldn’t admit it. They kept telling me it was nothing but I squeaked everytime I turned corners. A grinding noise. But I have had pretty good results with Honda. But now I am really confused. I want a reliable car that’s going to last longer then the payments.
I’m a older GenX driver and purchased a Golf GTI last year and ended up getting a 2021 Tiguan R Line and I’m enjoying the expansion in space and no exhaust drone, now only if it had some of the power my GTI had :)
I love the Tiguan !
how refreshing to hear 3 intelligent and educated people. No ums or ahs nor tired cliches, nor searching for words (often inappropriate) to convey their thoughts
Why don't you guys have fully loaded comparison's of the mid size sedan class like this
I'd like to see that, too. But I suspect that cars.com (and many consumers) would consider it more a eulogy than a comparison.
What about the Mazda CX-5, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Ford Escape, and the Kia Sportage?
I am sticking with my 2009 RAV4. Had it since almost new. It seems I would just be changing to increase complexity and gain very little in dynamics- or extra features that would be of any use to me.
Cars are all about the gauges, buttons, flashing lights and screens to read. Alot to do when your suppose to be watching the road.
I recall many years back when radio controls were added to the steering column for safety reasons, now you have these touch screens where you cannot operate them without looking. The knobs and switches could be located in older cars, either just from memory, or the briefest glance to locate it and send your hand there. Trying to operate a touch screen while driving with bumps and dip in the road requires you to look as you do it as there is no where to locate your finger/hand as in an actual switch of some type.
Mazda CX-5 GMC Terrain Denali? Seems like you didn’t bring the ones that selling the fastest and most
The terrain is a midsize suv
@@LukeDickson03 Actually, the GMC Terrain is the equivalent to Chevy Equinox which is considered a compact CUV
I'm happy that Hyundai tucson is in the top 3 . I bought the 2020 Hyundai tucson preferred AWD and its FABULOUS.
I am not sure but it seemed like you talked about the No 1 the least amount of time??
yeah the Mazda CX-5 is a glaring omission
Hate to be repetitive but he said Mazda decided NOT to participate so get over it already.
And let's be real the only category they win in is speed and balance. It's smaller, interior design is trash, less room, less cargo room, and they are pricey. I'd rather buy an A4 and go faster and have no other use lol.
@@coltoncyr2283 On almost every comparison test the CX-5's interior beats the competitors.

Also reliability, safety, emergency handling, style...
Take a look at Consumer Reports, IIHS, and NHTSA.
This proves what I’ve been saying the past two years. The world of crossover suvs is getting so convoluted that no one knows exactly who is supposed to compete with who.
I’ve always seen the Honda CRV especially in recent years as more of a Ford Edge/Nissan Murano competitor. Same can be said for others. Manufacturers can you please slow this race to produce down so we can sort this mess out
It's easy, the Subaru is the only real SUV where all models and trims are AWD. The rest are plastic.
Why don't you try the haval h6 ?
Where is 2019 Mitsubhishi outlander ?
he provably have the eco on when he did the acceleration test on the CRV, it is quite perky when it is in normal mode and specially quick in sport mode.
I've owned two CR-Vs, a RAV-4, and am now on my 2nd CX-5. The latest is the 2019 CX-5 Signature model. All of these have been great vehicles, and I never regretted my choices. I think the newer ones seems better to me, but then again, every new car I buy has more and newer features which probably makes them seem better. The Mazda may not have the cargo space of some of the others, but it sure beats them all as a fun vehicle to drive. And the Signature model is LOADED with features, way more than my wife's 2018 Mercedes C300.
AMEN brother! I just got the CX 5 GT Reserve. Had a 2007 RAV 4 V6 and liked it but I LOVE my CX 5 GT Reserve.
You should've gotten an RDX with the money you spent on your Signature CX5. It's stupid to spend $40k on a Mazda with no trunk space. Even a sedan like an Accord or a Camry has bigger trunk space compare tonCX5
Mel, Yeah, an Acura RDX would be nice with its Super Handling AWD but for the $38,000. of a CX 5 Signature v.s. the base RDX means many fewer features in the RDX. And I'll bet the Consumer Reports ratings for the 2019 RDX is no better than the CX 5 - if as good. The CX 5 rates "Much Better Than Average".
@@rv3144 To me it's ridiculous the high specs they put on these compact SUV's and the way it drives the price up. The lower end models make sense because they are supposed to be "economy" models, once you go top of the line you start paying the price of better vehicles IMO. I'd like the Turbo CX5 engine, but am not prepared to pay the price for the models they put it in for a daily driver/commuter vehicle.
How's your paint job? I've heard that Mazda has really awful paint thickness vs. all the other brands when tested. I was looking at a Mazda but after hearing that it's concerning. What's an owner say?
I stopped the video at 0:28, just because CX-5 is not included. i thought I'm the only one - after reading reviewed most people need it.
The third row in the Tiguan is great! The middle row slides and for full size adults it is no problem adjusting all three seats to make everyone comfortable. Get the third row for sure.
Thank you for this review I am curious how the Volkswagen stack up to the Mazda CX 5
Crappy review ....you compared a $42,000 Tiguan to other $35,000 compact SUV's.....You guys are smoking crack !
The classes are different !
LOOK at Consumer Reports. The VW Tiguan does NOT have the reliability of the MAZDA CX-5- or the styling.
I felt that the biggest problem with the Tiguan was the ride quality; it was ridiculously harsh and firm, making it seem like VW wanted it to be a sports car so badly.
I need strong advice on deciding to get my new vehicle for my family. Want list: good cargo space, quiet cabin, responsive engine, good fuel mileage, spacious front, and rear seats and a bit luxury feel comfort ride. I have test driven many cars, now has narrowed down to Acura Rdx with the technology package, VW Tiguan Sel, and Hyundai Sante Fe Ulitmate 2.0T. Which one is the best buy for the money? thank you!
I, personally, would go with the Santa Fe. For me, it checks everything you have said and does it all very well. It has lots of features and is a good quality car for, if I’m not wrong, cheaper than the others. However, that’s just my opinion and all of the cars are awesome.
I love my 2018 CRV EXL AWD ,with 20,000 miles now no issues of any kind so far🤞
I more interested in how they drive when they have 200,000 miles on them
Looking at the reliability data the Tiguan is by far the most unreliable here, and VW's in general are not very reliable based on my experience, so to judge it as #1 in what is admitted to be a close field, does not make sense. Likely reliability should be a factor in such a test and would certainly be high on the list for actual buyers who would overlook some other minor deficiencies in it's favor. In my area they are really having a hard time selling Tiguan's so the depreciation is going to be big, with a model seemingly not popular new. They mark the Jeep Cherokee down without taking into account things like the fact it's the only one with enough towing capacity for anyone with a boat etc. and in the right model is the only one where you can get any genuine off road ability and a low range transmission etc.. So while the test was of interest because I'm in the market for such a vehicle it really told me little of real world use. A factor to consider when "buying" is also are you the type of person who leases or finances and gets a new car every few years, or someone who buys outright and wants 150k plus of reliable use over 10 or 15 years, that makes a big difference to your choice.
@@fiveowaf454 I'm sticking with Japanese brands. I never owned a vw but I've known people who have and they were all problem cars.
C'mon, bud. You should take a photo to your vehicle and it will last forever! lol.

I have the Hyundai 2018 Tucson SEL plus. It is nice. I guess what goes for the Hyundai Tucson will also go it's corporate cousin the Kia Sportage.
The Sportage is and has been kind of a different direction from the Tucson in this generation. You'd never know they were related unless you knew they were related. I'm not sure if they're killing the 2.0T for the Sportage refresh, but that would be a big mistake. I drove a Tucson 1.6t and between the bumpy ride and the crappy, delayed powertrain I couldn't wait to get out of it. I'm going to have to test drive another one with this new setup.
@@JakeDrives1 The 2019 Hyundai Tucson have two engine choices. The SE and the Value Edition have the 2.0L 161hp. The SEL, Sport, Limited, and Ultimate have the 2.4L and 181hp. The 2.0L Turbo is gone. 2019 Kia Sportage has the 2.0L turbo in the SX version which starts at $33,000
@@chuckers40 The Tucson never had the 2.0t. The 1.6t and dual clutch were an awful pairing for the vehicle. I've driven the 2.4/6 speed Hyundai's. It won't be fast like a Sportage SX (hence the point of the SX) but the feel should be much improved.

Pay attention to the DI engine recalls due to fires!
Everybody complaining about the Mazda CX-5 not being there pay attention they said Mazda didn’t want to participate in the comparison. Also, why are people so crazy about Mazda? LOOKS are not everything people. Just because Mazda’s look beautiful doesn’t mean they will last a long time. My friend had a 2015 CX-9 and she had nothing but problems with it. Once the transmission fail for a second time she sold it. I would rather have a not so flashy car that will give me 10 years of reliability.
If the redesigned Japanese SUVs failed in this test, what make the CX-5 any better?
Mazda is reliable your friend just got unlucky.
One incident won't show anything. Alone one example with mazda, there are probably 3 to 4 incedents with VW. You need to know some friends from other brands and hear about their story, then you will have a better idea

How would the Santa Fe do?
PHEV?
Rav4 is number 5 despite being most fuel efficient, reliable and good looking. It does not matter because it's going to be number 1 in the sales chart no matter what these guru says
That’s because people romanticize Toyota’s. The new models aren’t as good as the older ones and the competition has more than caught up. It’s also pretty small compared to the other compacts. It should honestly be in the niche market of “small” between compact and sub-compact.
Hmmm, I kind of like Tiguan, but owning three wv in the past I was tired paying high price for maintenance and repairs. I would pick Forester here or CRV. And yes, where is CX-5? Besides small cargo space, it is very competitivve in this category.
Are Nissans really that bad in North America? I have a Nissan X-Trail (Rebadged Rogue in Australia) and at 50,000kms I've never had an issue with it
they didn't say if any of these had an optional manual transmission
I own a Vw Tiguan highline 2018, 7 seater and tested the others and they're all good in my view but the Tiguan felt much more refined overall comparisons with the others. As for reliability I have no issue, for extra peace of mind, I added the extended warranty which covers 7 years.
I'm glad you got an extended warranty, I've heard nothing but issues with that car when it starts to hit 30k miles.
The problem with warranties is that the dealers are always obstructive and usually incompetent when it comes to fixing things, so often it's not the cozy option you hoped.
I absolutely love my 2019 Toyota RAV4
And all these VW tiguan users will be hating their car in 10 years. Us rav owners will be laughing. Someone said to me, nobody admires a Rav4 ever like they do a range rover, ford, VW etc. I said well " as I drive my rav4 that no one admires, i get to admire all the broken down range rovers, fords and VW's on the side of the road." I see the pain in the drivers eyes as they look at my Rav4 drive by, and in that moment they look at my boring Rav4 in admiration"
The current RAV4 is not proving ultra reliable and some find the front seats unbearable, but I agree it's a good choice for long term ownership, which the Tiguan definitely isn't.
Oh, so you’re the one?
Who won???
Yes, but what will be the total repair bill on the VW at 100,000 miles, compared with the others.
Clearly you've never owned a VW or were ripped off on one. The costs aren't any higher and in cases the parts are cheaper.

Great review, thanks guys. I agree that the esoteric stuff is what makes or breaks. For instance you guys caught two items that really touched home with me; the Rav4 does not have Android Auto and the Tiguan has a really small centre console (very little storage). If I am going to fork out over $40K (I'm in Canada, prices are higher) then I want the best interface between my phone and the car, therefore the Rav4 is out. As for the Tiguan, it is definitely a strike against it, I'll have to see whether it is a deal breaker.
Just a further comment on all the Mazda 5 comments, my experience with Mazda's (again I'm in Canada) is that they rust must quicker than other brands. I have always liked them but the rust issue and their tendency to rev higher has kept me away from the brand for a while now.

Ugh, they're so ugly though and CVTs..I'll pass. I want to love Suburu, but just too strange looking. That said, several brands have either way too sloping roof lines (trying to look sporty, but losing ALL visibility, rear headroom and storage space), or bulbous, overly swollen rear and front ends or worst of all, overly huge, gaping grills (Lexus, Toyota...FUGLY!). Suburus is more muted in all those respects, but they're is just a strange, non-elegant look to them...econo look I guess. I don't know, just not my thing and the engines may last but the whole lineup is under-powered, slow, and the MPG is just average or slightly better I suppose considering the lack of power/response.
ovp66223 I was forced by the family to buy a Forester and in three years the poor handling and very uncomfortable Forester started breaking down after the warranty was up. This time it was my choice and I got the CX5. Even the remodel 2019 pales to Mazda. I live in snow country and don’t do off roading and Mazda is my winner.
Lmao. Consumer reports huh? How many cars do they repair in their shop? That’s right. Zero. They aren’t mechanics. I am a master mechanic for 30 years and Subarus are great for about 100k miles. Then they have major problems. I’ve got late models coming in the shop daily for fuel pumps, wheel hubs, cvt failures, valve guide leaks, list goes on and on.
17:14 big brother is watching you while driving..
Ok, but what about the CVT transmission? Is it too noisy ! It is horrible sound..sorry
thank you for doing this!!!!
I have watched this video a couple of times and do believe that we should't always listen to these people.
yeah they really don't give good observations
Eric Stenzel Bingo!! Probably RAV4 owners. Look people Toyota makes very reliable vehicles, but driving dynamics isn’t a Toyota strong suit.
Polestar Wes guess you havent driven their new platforms
tinhinnh I have and it hasn’t changed. The new RAV4 NVH isn’t great. Buzzy underpowered. Toyota is safe, steady, and reliable. They will never be known for driving dynamics because there core customers just want point A to B reliable transportation
Polestar Wes I think your opinion is just based on all the “reviews”. They are not sports cars but they are not “the same” as before either, heck, even the new prius drives better than the older ones. road noise aside, you need to drive it first before making an assumption
We only have a 100hp CRV in the Philippines, imagine that
Where is the cx5?
Glad Joe still stuck around on this channel.
I have a 2019 Hyundai Tucson ! Highly recommend it !! Love it
Love my Honda CR-V
Thanks guys............... I am tired of going dealership to dealership to see what the difference is with all these, when they are so minimal.
I completely agree with the CR-V feeling extremely sluggish off the line! I liked the previous generation RAV4 better than it, I can't imagine how much better the new one is!
It’s sluggish until 2000rpms because that’s when the turbo kicks in.
Just love my Tiguan , best of the rest
It is rated best for appearance and performance. But, your car got horrible ratings in regards to reliability in consumer reports and other consumer sites. Toyota honda and Subaru beat VW in reliability, way less engine problems. This review they did was not based on reliability. I promise you, the tiguan is a nightmare I know quite a few owners. Get an extended warranty to protect yourself.
I just bought a new Mazda CX-5 GTR after driving almost every vehicle in this comparison. My wife and I were set to buy a Rav4, but after test driving a $38,000+ MSRP (marketing is smoking some good stuff on this one) Limited version, we couldn't believe how loud the engine was, how poorly it shifted, the road noise, and how jarring the ride was. Also, faux leather and no power passenger seat for $38K? We were squirming in the seats after about 10 minutes when we drove the Tuscon as they were very firm and uncomfortable (leather seats in the Limited trim). We won't even consider the Nissan because of the high failure rate of the Jatco CVT. Honda has a very sluggish CVT and boring styling. And so on and so forth. The Mazda is the most comfortable, quietest, and has the most power (in turbo form). I can't believe it's not in this comparison.
I've been in a RAV 4 and driven it for sometimes, it shift very well in Sport and Normal but i think it doesn't really shift well in Eco and the road noise is minimal but not on the level of the CX-5. I only felt there was engine noise in the RAV when you push the engine a bit too much apart from that I find it very good. But that is just my opinion tho. The Mazda is a very good choice
@TableRocked I agree, Toyota's are reliable vehicles. My family has been driving them for 3 decades with no problems. That's why I'm very disappointed with the comfort level and price of the new RAV4. And yes, Chrysler products are complete junk. VW isn't much better.
@@mattltech Should have driven the hybrid. Way quieter and costs nearly the same.
Sadly it's usually because the automaker would not lend the car for comparison is the reason they are left out. Some automakers do not want direct comparisons to other automakers for one reason or another.
@TableRocked I have a 03 VW with 260k miles and still running strong with zero major issues for a vehicle with that many miles. It mostly boils down to how well the owner(s) keep up with maintenance and the owner(s) driving habits.
Isnt the Santa Fe the more appropriate model in this comparo than the Tucson?
You should have test the cars after 1 year of usage.. if it still reliable
