Heres my take:
It is another timeline where Zack lives but as a result, Aerith has died.
Why? Because after failing to deal with Zack outside Midgar they knew he'd go straight to Aerith so they moved up getting the Turks to grab her as a priority. Cloud didn't recover so Zack had to carry him the whole way and get him treatment (or he died as well), so Zack didn't nake it to her in time. Without Cloud falling through the roof and being there to protect Aerith, Hojo got hold of her earlier and his experiments went too far.
Or it could be as simple as he didn't arrive until after Aerith left midgar and tbe mourners are S7 refugees. Flowers are dying as Aerith isnt there.
... or he arrived after everybody was gone, so Aerith wasn't around to take care of the flowers anymore and those are all just refugees of the Midgar plate incident? That was my take as a guy who only knows about Aerith and that's the extent of his FF7 knowledge. So as I leave this, please don't let me know anything a bout the original as I have not played it and will not until November.

I've been saying this all along since I first played ff7r. Even from sephirtoths first appearance and the appearance of the ghosts I could tell that advent children was being referenced
The visions from The Harbinger of Fate are references from Advent Children Complete. I thought everyone knew this by now? This guy is a year late. lol.
Any how ACC had a reference to Zack, Danzel said is this some bodies grave, Cloud replies this is where a Hero begin his journey, meaning Zack is alive, not in some mythical lifestream fanfic theory.

I think that the Sephiroth in this sequel is the Sephiroth in Advent Children and he is messing with the timeline. I think he is finding a way to make his plan succeed. Also to add some of this, the dirge of cerberus ending is left in the air. Wherein, Genesis was alive and it was left there. I think that , maybe genesis will take a part in the remake.
Well, if he is dead and waiting outside the church as a spirit, then why having that different Stamp on the bag? This was the only clue Zack was alive, but in another timeline. But if he's actually dead, why the alternate Stamp stuff? I think there is more to it. Maybe crossing that gate to beat the Harbinger actually put them in an alternate reality and they'll take a lot of time figuring that out because some stuff wont be adding up. Idk really, but that Stamp wasn't there by accident, so I do believe Zack is alive, probably in an alternate timeline and we will see how that plays out I guess
I think the developers have already confirmed that Zack is alive in the remake. There is definitely more going on. I don't think they would bring Zack back just say " just kidding, he is still dead"

This time Aerith gets a happy ending with Zack, she doesnt die, Cloud dies instead and Zack saves the world!! Tadaaaaaa, theres my theory, mark my words its gonna be epic.
The way I took the assessments of the 3 individual pieces of the harbinger is that they were cloud, tifa, and Barrett. Cloud has a sword, tifa uses her fists, and Barrett has the gun. But the fact that Barrett isn't in party at that point kind of supports your theory.....
This is my stupid theory I came up with:
The Aerith from the Remake is actually from the timeline where Zack lived, she came over because, since Sephiroth is probably from another time as well and wants to make sure he wins, she somehow crossed over into the Remake timeline to make sure they would win. That’s why the Whispers attacked her when we first see her: because she isn’t from this timeline. It’s already been implied that Aerith knows the events of the original like Sephiroth, although I’m not too sure how she would know that… just a random theory me and my sister put together. I’m kinda hoping Zack will somehow cross over into Remake’s timeline and stop Sephiroth from killing Aerith, but idk.
I was thinking the same thing like why does she know how much of a threat Sepiroth is having never met him? I kinda think shes acting in self interest though to keep her and zack from dying.

Sorry but you gotta take the whole package here. If you're going to discount Zack being alive as a possibility, you need to extend that to the Avalanche crew as well. I think it's all far too vague to jump to conclusions.
It's already hinted at in the original release that Jessie at least is alive. Though yeah, for the rest I agree.

I sure noticed from the first time I saw Final Fantasy VII Remake ending that it wasn’t just a remake, I mean obviously this Sephiroth knows more than we know and he is trying to make his plan succed this time, which means this Sephiroth has seen his plan fail at least 1 time and he is coming from a different timeline.
Cloud is also having some sort of premonitions about Aerith’s death and If you ask me I think this time Cloud is going to be able to save her and make things right! Just like Aerith said when she was fighting Sephiroth.
And of course, yes! Zack is alive! Apparently when they entered Sephiroth’s portal it changed the entire reality and now Zack is still alive, but Cloud and his team don’t know that yet.
This Final Fantasy VII is probably going to correct every mistake that was made in the original, and that’s awesome because we don’t know what to expect! I can wait to see how this new history will unfold!
My thoughts exactly. im wondering how the intergrade dlc fits into this. Is the portal looking smoke thing at the end of the main story a portal or just some sort of release from their destiny and that of the current timeline? If its a portal to another timeline then how does yuffie's ending fit into this?

Right!? They first gave us the correct pronunciation spoken nearly 20 years ago in Kingdom Hearts.
I mean people say "Aerith" wrong when it's clearly Aeris and was only changed by Kingdom Hearts after being used in FF7, FF7 PC which fixed the game's script errors from the PS1, Ehrgeiz, and Final Fantasy Tactics. :D
@@jaeusa160 actually the error existed in exactly one place. The naming screen of the original FFVII. Prior to naming Aerith, she is referred to as Aerith in the code, then some doofus set it to "Aeris" in the naming screen which then overwrites the correct name. Japanese Square Enix has been trying to correct that since as early as 1998 with the ultimania guide.
he's pronouncing it correctly as to how it's spelled in english. the double f is the culprit. if it was localized as yufi or yufie there would be no issue so you can blame spelling for the goof.

FF7 was always convoluted.
@@charlieprince8671 I always found the original base game to be hard to follow in parts, but a well rounded story, with multiple plot threads, I'm now worried this might have been taken too far, hopefully get a bit more of an explanation in part 2 & not this tiny bit of mystery

I think because we destroyed fate itself at the end of remake pt.1 somehow zack made it out alive in a different timeline. (Hence why they show the different dog on the magazine) there are whispers around the soldiers about to kill zack, you can also see them gathering behind Midgar behind zack just like they are at the end of remake. The ones around the soldiers disappear before zack charges, presumably to join the swarm around Midgar. So none are around to protect fate and make sure zack dies. Then after zack survives he sees something happen to Midgar the same time cloud and his buddies successfully defeated fate in their timeline. Zack being at the church is just a continuation of that timeline we see him in at the end of remake pt.1 is what I think.

I really don't think Zack is alive, but I think they're making it seem that way so that fans are surprised and so that the reveal of his death and the whole Cloud psyche twist still has impact.

As a first time player of Final Fantasy, of any Final Fantasy, FF7 Remake being my first, trying to figure out what everything means, I just learned who Chaos, Nero, and Weiss are, which I gotta say is pretty cool. I would say that yeah, time and space probably have something to do with it, since the Harbinger is a being of Time and Space, something I think the Lifestream created for some reason, kinda like the Weapons (also just learned their function besides being bosses). If the other installments of FF7 are a part of this story, then I got a lot to catch up on and understand. But for now I'll stick with Remake content, and am exceptional curious how it ill turn out, givin how much the original plotlines, especially Aerith's death now being different. Also, if Zack and other Cloud were walked past Aerith and Cloud at the end of FF7 Remake, could it be possible that Zack could be alive or something. I'm still unsure if the whole ending of FF7 Remake was from another timeline or the same. And if we're going for the white light thing... does that mean Cloud dies too since he went into the Light with Aerith?
Edit: despite what my friend who played both versions has said and it being really sucky, I really enjoy FF7R and can't wait for part 2. Here's hoping that it's not a PS5 Exclusive, cause I only got a PS4. :(

Yeah, I thought it too, but the one fiting with fist has a huge gantlet and is lighting based, just like Loss and the one with guns actually uses two guns like Yasu. So for me that was the give away, that and the description of a distante future

The current accepted theory is that when Cloud and co defeated the Arbiter of Fate they in turn created an alternative timeline, in Remake near the end you see Zach going up against those Shinra soldiers but he makes it out alive when he shouldn't have in the original timeline.
He isn't dead, neither is Aerith so far, if she will eventually that remains to be seen, but Zach is alive in another timeline, the people in the Church are refugees from when the plate fell, they aren't mourning Aerith.
The refugees might be people from another unfortunate event and not necessarily from 7th district. Because the time or date does not add up. Zack and/or Cloud arriving Midgar is closely right before the start of the FF7 game while the plate falling happens several more days later. Knowing Zack, he will definitely head straight to the church even faster before the plate event happens.
@@jonglopez5400 could be from the sector 6 incident as we hear aerith tell us about it in chapter 9. She says that not many people where injured and it happened a while ago that might line up better then sector 7
Solid theory, but having just played it, I just thought Zack had turned up at the church after the sector 7 plate fell and these are just refugees and is then confused cos Aerith isn’t there and he’s somehow missed something (perhaps he’s now in the present timeline after the harbingers defeat). I think it’s more gonna be an alternate timeline, after all we did see that different Stamp and he was still dragging Cloud to midgar.
Loz uses melee yazoo uses guns. I think some specific things are missing from this theory. Dates. If you check the dates of retcons in the remake ultimanias and world introduction, Cloud arrives in Midgar in October while Zack dies in September. If Zack alive arrives alongside Cloud, then the day before Cloud is found alone in the sector 7, a huge chain of before crisis events occur near the sector 5 church with their dates changed in a retcon. Ravens, a vehicle chase, turks whose mission is to save Zack from Shinra prior to becoming the Turks in exile, two days later the fake execution of the leader of avalanche, and a number of events that could whisk Zack away and still leave Cloud with a buster sword. In December, a weapon is slayed on the day of the first bombing mission....

My thought on everything is that after the explosion from the last boss. Is that time and space had shattered throwing everything into Chaos. The past, present, and future have all been shattered around Midgard. This only impacting the space and Time around Midgard. This resulting in Zach being thrown into the present FF7 remake world and the people mourning Aerith death from the future. The future Midgard being thrown into the Present is just a twisted thought. I would just say the people crying in the church are just people from sector 7 crying over the deaths from the Plate drop. I think Zack will team up with Biggs, Wedge, and maybe Jessie(not sure on Jessie) to search for Cloud and Aerith. Since Zach knows where Aerith lives when visiting he will meet Biggs finding the missing about the missing Cloud. Biggs will most likely see the Buster Sword Zach is carrying thinking he did something to cloud. This will result in Zach and Biggs meeting. After the meet the head to Aerith house and find out Aerith was taken to Shinra headquarters and cloud and party went to rescue her. This will result is Zach and Biggs finding Wedge. I think if Jessie is not found in Midgard she will come when the party goes to the Gold Saucer seeing Jessie alive playing the princess Just a good mind**** for players. It will be a Jessie from the past not the one who joined Avalanche. Now back onto the Zach party will most likely be dealing with Deepground instead of Shinra since they will be more focused on Cloud and Sephiroth. Finding out Cloud and party left Midgard Ending in them leaving Midgard to continue the search.
I think it’s just an alternate timeline where Zack survives but Aerith is dead. And at the end of the new story the timelines are gonna converge and Cloud and Zack are gonna fight Sephiroth together.
It could be, and it could be that Zack doesn't merge with that time-line until after Aerith runs away, and instead of Cloud and everyone else getting to her first it'll be Zack, and maybe he'll be the one to save Aerith, but die in the process, and Cloud and party will arrive at the moment of Zacks death.
this begs another question. What is Cloud's status if Zack survived the timeline? If he died during the ambush(and combine the theory that Aeris has also died somewhere in that timeline,possibly by Seph) it will make more sense that Zack has to be the one to continue the whole journey with his buster sword and will eventually encounter the whispers and Seph. Most probably his main goal will be to kill Seph for revenge. Even if Cloud survived the ambush, I can't imagine the Cloud of that timeline doing anything notable.
From what I can understand, the different timelines are completely separate from each other and only the ones who can harness the power of mako(Aeris and Seph) can somehow traverse in between. Which means that Zack must somehow find a loophole to utilize the mako and lead him to a timeline where Seph can finally be destroyed once and for all. That timeline is most probably the FF7R's timeline.
From another angle. What Zack might have realized when entering the church is that Aeris status is unknown for the moment. The refugees might be people from another disaster event and not necessarily from 7th district.
But who knows what might really happen, hope that the continuity in FF7R part 2 will stand its ground.
I don't have intergrade but man I'm really surprised how much i loved remake on ps4.
I think in Zacks timeline all of Avalanche & Aerith are dead. Without Cloud on their team, they just weren't strong enough to either a) complete the bombing missions or b) successfully evacuate after the plate drop. Aerith could've been caught in the first bombing (remember she was near the area) or during the plate drop (maybe she tried to help). This also gives a good reason for Zack & his Cloud to leave Midgar and eventually meet up with the other gang.
What everyone is missing is the other two thirds of the remake.

That's an interesting tie-in with the fates (or whispers, or whatever you wanna call them) to Advent Children. I heard another theory that, considering their chosen weapons, that the three of them were Barrett, Tifa, and Cloud from another timeline trying to preserve that timeline for whatever reason. I think I like the Advent Children connection better though.
I believe the "after life place" is the physical embodiment of the life stream.

I'm curious about that "fifth installment" part you brought up. I have not done any research on this. The idea came to me while watching this video, so please anyone feel free to educate me on something I may be missing, or please correct me if I'm wrong about this theory. But, have we been looking at this game wrong the entire time?
For example, the titles of the games in the FFVII compilation. FFVII: Crisis Core, FFVII, FFVII: Advent Children, and the rest of the titles. Aside from the original, they all have a subtitle relating to the theme of that entry. The word "remake" is not only what we were initially led to believe in the marketing (as in a modern retelling of the original game), but is also the theme (Sephiroth trying to "remake" the outcomes of the original storyline [I know - a gross oversimplification - but you get the idea]). So, if we put that into perspective, we're not really looking at a remake of FFVII, but FFVII: Remake - an entirely new entry that adds to the story of the compilation.
I don't ever see developers make such an effort to put "Remake" in their titles, like Resident Evil 2 (2019) as one example. Granted, that example is from a completely different developer, franchise, and marketing team, but you don't see a developer blatantly state "Remake" in the title very often. Just a theory. After all, we still have so much more to see. But, speculating is still fun, so any conversation about this is welcome!

When i played through the Game (and searching / watching LPs and Streams) i was like… wait… thats why its not Part 1. Its because it is FF7-2 or whatever Part we are in the Compilation. Which is awesome. I still think most Things stay the same. Most Things also should stay the same. But they got the Freedom to Change Stuff. And they will. For the better or the worse.

Ok, I always assumed the three different coloured Whispers where made from alternate future versions of Cloud, Tifa and Barret but I like the idea that they could also or otherwise be representing the Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo the remnants of Sephiroth too, never thought about that possibility... but that also make Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo not just remnants of Sephiroth but dark counterparts of Cloud, Tifa and Barret the three primary heroes of FF7... that really deep.
As for Zack, no I respectfully disagree, going by new trailers he's in his own new timeline.
But the Floating Jellyfishes can be Cloud, Tifa and Berret...

And Aerith is not there this time. In this alternate reality she finally became mortal because the planet has healed so much to the point where Aerith doesn't need to bind her holy power that she got from the ancestors to heal and protect the planet with its life essence floating around. Now the planet is raining, a climate system has stablised

it would be cool, if the moment when you revisit the curch in ff7 original, where you're able to see aerith for just a blink of a second is included in the new story :)
If Zack was dead, why would Square even bother showing him in the remake/intergrade? He has to have a role to play in Rebirth if they went through all of that to show Zack in Remake. Zack became a popular character that Square didn’t expect and they want to utilize that for the future of FF7R.

But I think he's alive. The simplest explanation is he survived and everything we've seen of him is actually out of chronological order with the rest of the story.
He brings Cloud back, goes to meet Aerith, she's...somewhere. next game we'll see him caring for Cloud.
What sticks in my mind is aerith says in the game shes not looking back anymore, only forward.
She died in the og game, do we need to keep forcing aerith to end up with Zack as spirits that just go to the after life? She could shill find his spirit again after a long life. Her Zack is dead already.
Or you'll play as Zack going to save aerith in his timeline as another dlc intermission type thing? Wrap a few loss ends. See alternate things for chataters now that the cycle is broken.

I believe you’re overthinking it. I don’t the scene showing us Zack surviving that final battle would be included if he was dead anyway. Also I think the 3 minions of destiny were representing future versions of Cloud, Tifa, and Barret.
I agree with the three whispers being C, T and B. I read that they use the fighting styles of yazoo, loz and kadaj... but really why would they appear to our team if they were fragments of sephiroth and hes basically already broken his original destiny. It makes more sense for those whispers to be what C, T and B would have been considering what the assess materia tells us and them appearing to our team in the moment consisting of a sword user (C - Rubrum), Fists ( T - Viridi) and guns ( B - Croceo).
I don’t think these are “timeline” as much as they are stories in the life stream. I think Sephiroth is trying to manipulate the memories in the livestream to manifest himself. He said he’ll “never be a memory”.
I think a Jenova tainted version of him died in Advent, so his actual life force is trying to pull the same trick within life stream and remake is the battle between him and Aerith. Zack is probably the only actual being helping her and cloud and the others are just memories going through their story.
Doesn't explain Sephiroth's focus on Cloud and indication that Cloud is almost the reason he exists, referencing his memories specifically. As though the central point of this whole event is Sephiroth's ties to Cloud, not Aerith.

I feel that Square Enid was surprised at how popular Zack Fair was, and decided to capitalize on his popularity by bringing him into Final Fantasy VII: Remake, so I believe he is definitely alive and maybe a playable character in the future parts of FF7: Remake. It doesn’t make sense that both FF7: Remake & Intergrade/Intermission show him making to Midgar, and then present him as an “angel/spirit.”

Reading people's comments on different videos. They're super over thinking a lot of this. I just look at the REMAKE in the title as not just remaking the game, but Aerith working towards Remaking history from the original. Which us causing other things to happen like Zack altering history. When the wraiths exploding he changed his fate. At least at the time being.
I think (theory here) is what we saw play out with Zack was scene from the novels on the way to smile and another one which I can't remember. They do describe in those aerith and Zacks journey through the lifestream. Maye Zack will be a central figure in keeping sephiroths will on the planet at bay while the main cast deals with him
My theory was also that. Like it would be such fan service to have both Aerith and Zack together as spirits, whilst still involved in the story through the later parts. I can't make it make sense when you literally see Zack carrying clouds limp body as though he didn't up and leave. That only works on an alternate timeline.
I agree with you. I think they are throwing us for a loop, and even though we defeated the harbinger of fate, there are elements at play that cannot be changed should the planet still be able to be saved as we know it from the original time line. Sacrifices will still need to be made, and fate cannot be changed. At least that is my interpretation, which is partially rooted in hopes that the rest of the remake is as amazingly faithful as this one was to the spirit of the original, and most importantly, to the individual characters we know and love.

As for your theory I'm more inclined to believe (hope, perhaps) that Zack is alive and this alternate timeline Zack has crossed over into Remake timeline, because that means more room for Aerith to NOT die in the future. I guess we'll see.
Such a disaster for an absolutely new comer! The game in overall felt good considering bits and pieces here and there, but that's just it! Then there is a HUGE INFO DUMP!! I don't even know what a fricking Final Fantasy is.. and why the hell is it called Final Fantasy. I just bought it for $79.99 and played it -- only after seeing on internet that all FF games are different and mostly are disconnected, and FF7 in itself is a separate game.
I DO NOT Intend to read/play/watch anything source material or old games related - so if I don't do this, am I supposed to NOT UNDERSTAND ANY OF THE HUGE INFO DUMP at the end of the FF7 Remake!?? What the hell is Square Enix thinking? His scar from Angeal is still there, it’s just hard to see in that scene because it’s not near the front of his face and the angles in that scene keep showing more of the right side of his face and the camera is zoomed out when his left side is shown.
When he says “I’m back!” and you see the front of his face pause and you can just barely make out the scar creeping on the left side of his cheek. (His left, your right.)
Right there with ya man, I'm willing to bet that they've chosen to present everything about Zack in the way they have purely to create speculation, conversation and hype. Compared to the 'accepted' theories this might be seen as a Tin Foil Hat rant, but I'm calling it.
Zack beat the army of ShinRa soldiers (I think we'll get to play this at some point, GAWD i hope so, how F-ing cool). He drags Cloud to the edge of the cliff, where they are attacked by the lone platoon of the army like the OG FF7 secret cutscene. End of FF7R, Aerith being Cetra is what allows her to 'feel' Zack's presence on that spot, not 'see' it, we just see a visual representation of Aerith's connection to the planet. Stamp being different is potentially a generational mascot (there's FOUR stars on Terrier Stamp's hat, and FIVE on Beagle Stamp's helmet - Dogs don't live super long), although obvi there's no way to confirm anything on that. End of INTERMission, Zack IS dead and has returned to the Church in the Lifestream, where some other confused souls currently are. This is suggested by the white light behind him - to Zack it probably all seems like a strange dream. Here's where i'll get thumbed down... There is no second timeline, and no second buster sword.
I don't think we're going to see what really happened until the end of Part 2 assuming that goes as far as the 'real' Nibelheim incident, but they'd have to shoehorn it in there somehow. It'd be better (probably in Part 3) via returning to ShinRa Mansion after Cloud's memory has returned, which is what triggers the cutscene in the OG. Again obvi we've no idea how far each part is going to get us in terms of the OG story, especially with new additions so it's impossible to tell. Like everyone else i can only speculate, but i honestly think that they've chosen to do it in a way that keeps everyone guessing no matter their opinion, and my favourite part is that until they release subsequent parts, nobody is wrong!
Not a great theory imo, if he's still dead the entire time why would they show imagery to confuse us into thinking he might actually be alive just to go "lol no he actually really was dead the whole time. Gotcha!"
It's called a red herring. The devs are using Zack as a red herring and giving us hope that we can change things when you can’t. There's no reason for Zack to be alive, he's redundant. All we need is Zack in Nibelheim, no point of doing anything else.
Your point that Aerith is dead is NOT possible. Recall that Zach's fight against Genesis + his show down with the Shinra platoon in Crisis Core took place *one year* before FF7 begins. Meaning, that if he AND Cloud survived we'd be running up against the year before FF7 kicks off not up to the point where Sephiroth has slain her.
I think that Zack isn’t alive, surely that would confuse the game with Cloud being “confused he’s Zack” I mean I absolutely hope your theory is true that they are linking all of the FF7 universe together, dirge,advent etc. I hope they actually add them bits into the main plot also. Instead of integrate dlc (a Vincent focused dirge dlc) and after events dlc (advent children)

I haven’t played the Remake on my PS5 but nothing was ever going to replace the original for me. Not a reimagination nor a faithful recreation. I wish they just left FF7 alone. I want new FF stories and meaningful spin-offs.
Your not the only one, I was expecting an actual remake, not this kinda a remake but also a reboot/sequel that square have put out. Felt so baited after completing the remake.

Thats exactly it. He dies on the cliff. Both in Advent Children Crisis Core and the Original had him die on that cliff. Not get close enough to Midgar let alone walking right in.
@@ryanarnold4410 I know that he always dies, but he cant be dead now and living in the lifestream, because he carries Cloud to Midgar at the end of ff7r. My own theory is more complex. I think that the whispers locked Midgar and Sephiroth in a time/space singularity, rewound time outside of Midgar, saved Zack, then they were defeated and time resumed from that point.
If your thought is that Zach is at this after-life version of the church. Wouldn’t that suggest that because Aerith isn’t there, that she’s actually alive in this new version? Like she doesn’t die in that “7 seconds?”

I never see anyone mention that there is clearly a SOLDIERS caracter standing in the flower patch when Zack enters the church, could it be that Aerith has joined SOLDIERS in Zack's timeline and he mention's her name when he sees her in her outfit?
I noticed that too. The boot and pants cuff look just like Cloud and Zack's outfit. I don't think Aerith joined SOLIDER (she'd never cut it and even if she could, Shinra would never let her, too precious a specimen to let her get killed or something), but it does seem like a SOLDIER is in there...m

Yeah, but also feels like takes way too much from Cloud story and undermining Zack's sacrifice. But, I'm open to new things, if it's done good I wouldn't complain. It's just that Nomura likes to make everyone alive and really ruin the death scenes like in KH. Everyone literally came back alive. Roxas being his own and alive is so stupid. I thought the point of his character was about accepting his fate and place in the world.

@@petervickers911 you're probably right, cause there's Nojima who writes the story. There's also the old teams who will hopefully keep Nomura KH level of storytelling off FF7R. FF7 remake part 1 was the evidence I guess. Even though there's some Nomura mumbo jumbo, overall the story, dialogue, characters, and scenes are really good. That scene where Cloud hugs Tifa is my favourite. It's so beautiful and tragic. Damn near make me cry
@@petervickers911 but, I still don't want Tifa to die. As much as fun is Aerith and Cloud is, they don't really connect on a deeper level of bond like Cloud and Tifa imo. And Tifa is my personal favourite, more so in the remake.
And Barret of course, He's just so fun and really deserves a happy ending if you know his backstory. I mean, he can't leave Marlene behind 😭😭.

So what's the part that you think everyone missed ? Sometimes we don't need to take their word as definite as they always go back and change what they initially said.
Considering Zack burst into the church with enough noise to wake the dead and not one person looked up at him means Zack is still dead, he is a ghost, he might be "back" but he isn't back in the way we would like him to be.
Which means we might be able to see him but it seems the living can't interact with him and the ONLY person that MIGHT be able to connect with him is Aerith. Due to her connection to the lifestream/she can Astral Project with the help of the Lifestream may mean she may just have the powers to be able to connect with him as she is an Ancient.
In Advent Children no one else saw Zack and Aerith at the end of the game except for Cloud which means Cloud having saved the world/being the hero once again may mean he gets "special powers" to see the dead. No one else can so due to his heroism/he has the closest connection to Zack and was really worried about not being able to save Aerith that he might if been the only one who has the ability to see both Aerith and Zack in AC.
So back with the Remake we have Zack who has shown up with the rain indicating that Zack has something to do with that, there is a connection somehow, and Aerith has shown us she has Ancient powers Square has built on to with the remake. Given Aerith has also been talking non stop about Zack this and Zack that and we fought those ghost things that have something to do with time there may be a way that. With all of this mixing together (the wraiths or whatever their called, Aeriths powers and her talk of Zack) somehow Zack is back, true he is still a ghost but he is back.
We don't know what those time monsters are able to do besides "control time" just like we don't know vwhat powers Aerith actually has but if Astral Projection is one of them then she must have some connection to the lifestream even if it is subconsciously. But just think, if she can work with the lifestream she might just become an even better character than what we got in the OG, it would be nice to see Square rework what she can do as a Ancient, surely they can do more than just have her use holy materia.
So we finally knows what is coming to part 2
Was it too much to ask for to get a proper remake all in a single game and if the wanted to they could have remade Crisis Core , Dirge of cirberus , and even made Advent children into a game
Why did they have to complicate it further
I'm late to this party, but I've developed a loose theory over the last few months. Take this as you will.
I've started to think that the entire original game/story was a vision in Aerith's head. The opening scene focuses on Aerith as well as the closing scene (which also happens to be identical to the opening scene of the remake.) In that vision, the planet shows Aerith how things are supposed to happen. Perhaps Sephiroth also saw this vision seeing as he seems to know as much as Aerith, if not more. (Aerith is able to have this communication with the planet due to her being Centra and all) The entire original game only took place inside Aerith's mind for .5 seconds and then immediately opens up to the Remake where Aerith decides to go against fate. I don't think the FF7 franchise is going to run with the whole universe crossover or time travel stuff. I think it's going to follow more of a traditional fantasy layout rather than a sci-fi element. By this I mean they will probably focus heavier on Aerith and her connection to the planet rather than reaching out to bring in elements that were never in the series to begin with. (I'm going to exclude Tactics for this argument although it is viewed as cannon)
To add to this, why would the original game end with Aerith when she's already dead. It makes more sense that she was never actually dead because it was a vision shown to her by the planet. Additionally, Aerith was killed off never to be brought back to life because one of the decision makers in the original was suffering the loss of his actual mother. He wanted the players to experience the loss and grow with the party as they mourned just as he had. Perhaps because of that decision and how the fans reacted to it led to this new theory of mine being possible. The only way to prevent fans from suffering Aerith's death all over again while still staying true to "not bringing her back to life" is by making it so she was never actually killed in the first place.
I mean, Aerith is arguably THE most important character in the story.
Remake isn't remaking the original game, it's remaking fate. You already know that based on the events in game though.
Side notes:
I thought that the 3 you fight at the end embodied Cloud (sword) Tifa (fists) and Barret (gun). I took it as symbolism for fighting to be a different them than the planet wanted them to be. If that makes sense.
I don't think the stamp bag with Zach was different because it was from a different timeline. If that's the case, then there are 2 Zacks running around because there are 2 different style buster swords. Crisis Core gold hilt and the original. I find it funny that no one mentions the buster sword but they think the bag is more important. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
Let me know what if you think this is possible or not, because I really need someone to expand or close on this theory.

Im not sure there so much we dont know yet like whats up with biggs and wedge and if they made it out what about jessie not to mention after playing through the game again i noticed alot of times where aerith seems to already know whats going to happen and and its letting stuff take its course but then decides to stop some of it idk i think aerith is getting information channaled to her from the lifestream from her future self somehow and clouds visions are glimps in to her info
I've never played a final fantasy game, but it feels like their just prolonging the story to milk the fans of their money.
Well it happens the same in the og. At the end of the Midgar section, Sephiroth comes out of nowhere and prolongs the story for pretty much the rest of the game. Pretty common for JRPGs

Can someone please explain how do I get this game or what this game is? I have a physical and digital version of ff7 on PS4 and the PlayStation store conditions say if you got the game for free via PlayStation plus you aren't eligible for the ps5 upgrade or whatever so can someone help me out (Btw Before anyone says you need a ps5 to play Intergrade I already do)
Put the disc in your PS5. Go to the game page and select upgrade. If you have it digitally on your PSN account just go to the game page on ps store on your ps5 and download. Then upgrade again.
Intergrade is basically DLC. If your digital is a PS+ copy, then install the disc version and head to your library where you'll see it says "PS5 upgrade available" or smth along those lines. It's a bit of a faff with disc games, it was way more straightforward for me digitally, I jus downloaded the PS5 version instead of the PS4. Doing my first playthrough now at 60fps
Make sure your save is uploaded to cloud backup first. It WILL wipe the old one if you do not
