I played the original as a teenager. Playing through the remake and going through the ending..... I almost hate it. If they were going to do this, they should've named it FF7-2 or version 1.1 or something. They've answered everyone's call and demand for a remake, but I don't think this is the remake the majority of those people wanted. I really am looking forward to seeing the sales numbers for the remake compared to the 2nd installment. I almost guarantee the number will decrease majorly because this isn't what a lot of people wanted. Just my opinion though.
He better have lived. I wanna see Wedge go smoke and chill with Biggs (!!!) and get munchies while they play video games. (Seriously Squeenix fuck you if we can’t get Matt Jones back 😤)
YOUR WRONG ABOUT THE WHISPERS!!! It's NOT cloud tifa barrett... think about it. A sword on the LEFT hand, ONE handheld weapon, TWO guns. It's the Advent Children! It's Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo! Sephiroth controls them AND what happens when they are defeated?? They summon bahamut!!
@TheNamelessAnt they are cleaning up the disaster called the compilation. I cant wait to see where they go with this story too! I also think that the Sephiroth in Remake is the same sephiroth that was in Advent Children and somehow went back in time to fuk with cloud in Remake.
This is probs why they didn't call it Final Fantasy 7 Remake part / episode 1. If they make it a trilogy, my guess for the 2nd and 3rd title are Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.
Calling it now - You'll get to play as Zack in the second timeline. Both timelines will converge at the ending, and you'll probably have Zack and Cloud fighting Sephiroth
Yup. We're going to get completely different teams with the same goal coming together at the end. We already saw that Cloud (a non-SOLDIER fraud) managed to defeat Sephiroth. With Zack there, something Sephiroth cannot foresee, he's basically doomed.
@@Naim-Lest not at all. The events of Crisis Core is what made Cloud, Cloud. When the portal was opened at the end of the remake, maybe it opened to another parallel where Zack didn't die, and if they somehow converge the two dimensions and Zack is able to continue his journey and help defeat sephiroth with his best friend Cloud, it would be a great ending to not only his story but Cloud's as well.
All I want is Rick Gomez to come back and do the voicework. I was so impressed with Crisis Core and was immediately disappointed when I didn't hear his voice when Zack started to talk in the remake. These casting decisions were awful.
I came up with a theory that summed things up pretty nicely and explained a LOT of the curious shit Aerith and Sephiroth do in the story: As the video said, the whispers are the planet trying to maintain the OG FFVII's events which lead to Sephiroth's defeat. The harder the party deviates from this path, the more the extreme the effort to protect/stop them. As long as the whispers exist, they'd be constantly interfered with, so they had to go. However this act benefits one individual massively: Sephiroth. Sephiroth very clearly knows of the events of the original game. This Sephiroth could very well be the Sephiroth from the original game, using the knowledge of that timeline to egg the party in "defying fate". He knows this group can stomp him, so why not goad them into destroying these creatures that would ensure his defeat? Sephiroth is playing to win here, foreknowledge and removing those that would doom him (the whispers). But there's a very interesting thing going on here: AERITH. Aerith, from the very beginning of the game is behaving like someoone who has seen all of the events of OG FFVII take place, not just the events up to her death (or events she was not present for). How could she know this? Simple. This Aerith somehow has the knowledge of the OG timeline pumping through her. She tells Marlene Barret's name even though up to that point no one had said it t her. When she touches Marlene and the little girl sees a vision and says she's familiar, Aerith just shushes her. Later on Marlene was about to blurt something out about Aerith but held her tongue. In the special Chapter 14 scene outside of Aerith's house, Aerith flat out tells Cloud NOT to fall in love with her. That whatever he feels for her isn't real. This is another allusion to the events of FFVII where a crippled, mako-addled Cloud imprinted Zack's persona over his own. This includes being attracted to Aeris, which she saw through in the original. She also knows the party has defeated Sephiroth before, something that is absurd considering the events of Remake where they've only recently met. Lastly, Aerith says 2 things that are very interesting: One is that each time the whispers touch her, a part of her disappears. Second, she says that the Planet is trying to protect a future that is corrupted. We know that after OG FFVII Sephiroth continues to exist like a cancer in the Lifestream. So it makes sense why she's so afraid of being out from under the "steel sky". Back in Midgar they were still on the rails of the original, but now that they're free of those events ANYTHING can happen. And when you're trying to save the planet from a villain that knows how he was defeated before, that is terrifying. More party members could die, some could abandon their quest, there might be severe betrayals, etcetera.
This makes a lot of sense. I was really confused after i finished the game today. But i´m still angry at how they are presenting the story... Sephiroth says disconected shit all the time, there isn´t a single word from him that actually makes sense, there is no conversation, he is also like a god, you never know if he is actually there or not, if it´s just an illusion. They also never explain why the characters are deviating from the original timeline on the first place. I would understand if Sephirot was the cause of that, but never does anythig to cause those changes. I like that they are changing the story, but they are trying so hard to not give away the plot too easely that they wrote a lot of shit dialogues...sad.
So far it is a great game, however a bit clunky with some of the controls. As to the posted content, when I first saw the black robed ghosts, my initial thought was that the game was going to take place an an alternate timeline from the events of Cloud and maybe before the events of Cloud. It might be safe to say that events of Dirge of Cerberus and the events of Advent Children will not happen or if they do happen it will take place in a different form. In all honesty, I really wish they left the game alone. That is to say, I wish they left the story alone. Update the graphics and the battle system, but leave the story as is. Lastly, I don't like the aspect of piecemealing the game where they have you download and buy installments of the game. I just want the full game.
Thank you! This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Aerith said and did some weird things in this game that cannot go unnoticed. She knows way too much. What do you think about RED XIII? I feel like he knows way too much, too.
This actually makes sense, and is almost exactly the same thing i was thinking when i finished the game. While i am a hardcore fan of the original, i really loved the Remake. I made myself think that the original and the Remake are two different games. The original will always be there for me to enjoy, as will this remake. Thinking about what is canon or not is somewhat stupid and it only makes people raving mad when they see (what they think are) inconsistencies and plot holes. This new 40+ hour adventure is a good game, and it kept the soul of the original story and characters while also giving us something new to enjoy within the world we loved in the original.
@@dadeleemurphy85 What is this? Getting angry about someone's opinion about a video game? Did i make you go waah with my comment? You gonna have a tantrum? Maybe cry a little? Poop your pants, maybe?
@@dadeleemurphy85 And no, i did not enjoy FFXIII, and i haven't even played Zodiac Age, And could care less about Kingdom Hearts because that game is for kids, or at least the first one was and i have no idea what the sequels are about.
I agree. I was mad at first but then I realized it’s time to move on and treat this as a what if game while original ff7 is the original. But the soul is still in this game.
I feel like I won't be able to make my mind up about this game until the whole remake is done and played. So I may have an actual opinion in like 20 years or so..
Fate was never mentioned on FF7, it was just Planet weapons vs Sephiroth vs Cloud's party. I think is somehow brilliant how the game uses the whispers, but we just have to wait and see if they achieve a better future despite what had already been wrote.
There is a theory that I had read, that in the original game, when the Lifestream fights off Meteor, the last scene we see is Aerith as she had been in the opening film. The theory stands that the moment is important because it's Aerith in the Remake seeing the events happen. She knows how the original game ends because she saw it through the Lifestream. And I like that kind of welding.
Crap, if work hadn't gotten in my way, i would have beaten the game a day earlier and beat you to posting this theory. But kudos, i think this is right on.
Oh wait, you said "There is a theory...". How long ago was it posted? Could you post the link. Man, I really tried to get through it as fast as possible but six days was the best I could manage...
i'd like to read up on it too if you still have the link somewhere. suddenly gave me an aha moment and possible explanation as to why aerith's face just randomly appeared at the end. the only explanation beforehand that i sat with was just it was representational/symbolic as aerith having lived through the lifestream and asked it to help holy defend the planet from meteor
@@chandrasaputra1067 I'm still hoping OP will share that link, but when I went through the ending, I was thinking "This is DUMB! How can Aerith know about Sephiroth? And why are these watchers always so conveniently forcing the plot?" And then it all became clear: shes seen everything that transpired, and from the very beginning she sets out with the intention of Remaking the future, which is why the watchers bug her even in the first meeting.
I think the scene with Zach carrying Cloud passing Aerith and Cloud is going to be part of Cloud's lifestream experience. There's a similar scene of Cloud talking to himself at the beginning of chapter 9
Knowing that Before Crisis has been adapted into this project and remixed into the OG (since they both happened at the same time); I suspect that all playable Turks (or most of them) are going to make an appearance in future parts. I'd LOVE to have "Legend (Male)" (aka Bob) being a secret superboss or something, since he is one of the top ranked Turks.
@@Carla-watches well kunsel is apparently cannon in this one. Oh who the fuck even knows what is and isn't cannon. I hate square. Give them a couple years and we'll have the guys battleing time travelling zucchinis called the "battalion that should not be" or some stupid shit.
My theory - it’s Jessie. Attracted to Zack - Cloud is a spitting image. Both brown hair and brown eyes Both capable fighters Both have a motive to hate Shinra Zack comes back - Jessie is alive (maybe?) Jessie falls in love with Zack - everyone is happy 👍 🤔
They are making rebuild of evangelion, the first game will be "almost" the same, the second will deviate a lot, the third will be something completely different. I can totally see Sephiroth traveling through time via the life stream
Francisco Flyer I foresee the game is going to jump between the two timelines, in one it has the orginal cast the other has a party being led by Zack with some alterations to it like perhaps we have Kunsel become a party member after in this timeline when Aerith gets kidnapped and its Zack spearheading the rescue the party encounters Kunsel who when he learns what’s going on assists Zack, Cloud and Tifa would be more on the back burner because Zack would recognize the after effects of the severe mako poisoning Cloud was suffering through and entrusted him to Tifa knowing that while he may be fine physically he needs to get his mind straightened out (and I defiantly see Zack trying to play a little match maker getting Tifa and cloud hooked up) I foresee the the finale of this saga being a fight against Sephiroth where he jumps between the two timelines but is being countered at every turn by each timelines respective party
*cloud at the golden saucer pocketing barrets winnings* "Okay, we agreed on 2000 at the beginning of the story. With the 63 gil here, that leaves 37 gil to go" 😆
I really don't mind changing the story at all, if anything a different take is refreshing instead of just going through ff7 again for the umpteenth time. However, multiverse crap always goes down poorly and the whole "defeating fate itself" crap is incredibly cringey. I really hope Nomura doesn't go full kingdom hearts here because I'll be pissed.
@@SteveDonev yeah it wasa bit of a shock that they would let him make so meny changes that not only change the original story but all the extended stuff aswell. Like 25 years of the games history. For them to take such a huge risk with such a beloved game they must really believe they have something good.
@@player--zero Changes are fine. If he just made it so Zack, jessie, bigs, and wedge didn't die it'd be fine. Even if he let aerith live it'd be fine. But don't make multiple timelines. There is no way to salvage that.
@@SteveDonev just need to cross our fingers and hope to god they know what they are doing. If this turns into another Fabula Nova Crystallis and they end up giving up on it half way though im gona be pissed. Ive been waiting for this since i was 12
Here's my theory on all of this with the multiple timelines. Timeline 1 : after defeating fate. Those who were affected by the keepers of fate are alive now . So wedge, Biggs and in my opinion even Jessie aswell because they clearly showed the keepers of time affecting her death. Zack is still dead in this time line as cloud still has his buster sword and still will think that he is an ex soldier 1st class.zack being alive or dying changes the entire fate of the world which caused a diverging time line at his point of death. As for the future, that is now uncertain and this will be the time line the next parts will focus on . 2nd time line: in this time line Zack never dies and this will either mean that eventually the time lines will cross paths and they will all meet eventually in the next remake parts. Or we are looking at a whole side game which will continue to tell the story of Zack and cloud which im very excited for aswell. 3rd time line: is the original ff vii where they never entered the singularity and thus continued with the same quest that led to the death of aerith , sephiroth using comet and the planet protecting itself. I also believe that sephiroth is above all time lines and destiny. He is aware of his plans failing in the original time line and is now trying to change his fate aswell. I think in the future sephiroth will put all time lines in jeopardy and Zack and the remake time line characters will have to come together at the end to beat this ultra god timeline destroying sephiroth . I think this is epic as fuck. Sephiroth seems like an even more badass character now. All that math that he does while using all creation all makes sense now lol
If this explanation/theory sounds simpler to the three timelines of the Legend of Zelda series (The Fallen Hero Timeline, The Child Link Timeline, and Adult Link Timeline). All three timelines branched off from the LoZ: Ocarina of Time. If Square Enix and the writers manage to pull it off. Than FF7 would have been the most complex story series in the whole Final Fantasy series.
“That girl, she said the sky... frightened her. [pause] That looks so... liberating. [opens his eyes] Those wings... I want them too. [pause] It feels... good. [pause, see Cloud walking though the 'plains'] If you see Aerith, say hi for me. Hey, would you say... I became a hero?
Shumayel Khan got tears in my eyes just by reading this... I believe the last sentence Aerith says in FF7R about the sky is pronounced in CC. I just want to see them happy 😭😭😭
I wasn't too much of a fan of the action sequences with fighting the Whispers, as it felt too much like the crazy parts of Kingdom Hearts to me. But I greatly enjoyed the entire experience overall, and I did quite like the final fight and all of the cutscenes that followed. The final fight scene with Cloud and Sephiroth with the cinematic cuts to parallel the original was pretty awesome and animated very well. Even though the ending for me wasn't like how I thought it was going to go, I still look forward to the future installments. Seeing more of the world realized in this new way, more great music, more fantastic character development and voice acting, fun combat and with probably the introduction of playable Red XIII and probably others I'd assume, means that there'd be at least 6 characters playable at various points in the game which could make for some fun team combinations of two or three party teams. If I want to play FF7 I can always go back to play that one, on practically almost any console now and relive those moments. Game still gets a 9.75/10 for me and it's the first time I stayed up playing a game so late into the night that it messed up my sleep schedule in years. I really enjoyed that feeling again. I can still say that I truly loved this game, and I can't help but appreciate the heart and care that the developers put in to creating this So I'll be along for the ride and enjoy probably 95% of it, which is still a solid A in my book!
This is also my assessment. Almost word for word. The end section I also said felt very kingdom heartsy, and didn't know how to feel about it at the time. But now I have a good appreciation for it.
I agree with you... For a split second there I had very strong Kingdom Heart vibes coming from the scene... but overall I enjoyed the game. I have my issues with the combat system and some minor pet peeves, but I'd give this a fair pass, it has a lot more things that are well done than the bad
Like, when they introduced how the arbiters worked I actually went "Yoko Taro helped these people out on this... " And also went, "HAH NOMURA IS FLIPPING THE BIRD A THE PLAYER" ... Me and my indie gamer head thinking about post modernism
@@FF18Cloud Thinking back on it now and with more context, I am totally fine with how the arbiters are used in the story. I think the thing that I was still off with was the actual design of the whisper fight in terms of fighting something that some huge gigantic monster that you have no hope of beating. That and the cutscenes of running and jumping on falling debris which screams KH to me. Mostly because it is more out of place with the rest of the game as far as how action scenes are presented to the viewer. Majority of all the action sequences are, for the most part, grounded in reality, albeit with obvious adjustment for the characters' abilities. No one's teleporting or super jumping between buildings or anything of that sort so it remains believable. That being said, the fight was pretty good AND it wasn't an air battle. That's all I was really hoping it wasn't, as I absolutely can't stand the flying/air battles in KH.
I'm for it. I absolutely love FF7, but a reimagined story and fresh perspectives on these characters and their choices is something I find exciting. I don't need to be told the exact same story from a game I have played multiple times. So excited. I also agree that the fate ghosts are a metaphor for having their creative hands tied. Can't wait to see where we are going with all this!
When Sephiroth said Cloud had 7 seconds left and asked him what he would do, the ensuing scenes were the result of Cloud's decision (before returning from the edge of creation).
Read that it took seph exactly seven seconds to descend and kill Aerith in the original. People are theorizing that this is what he is referring to and if cloud will be able to stop him. He also referred that scene when you first meet Airith and he states that “you can not save her”
Adam Richardson I agree with this. There’s also another part where after the plate fakes Sephiroth says to Cloud “you failed again”. So pretty sure Seph knows what’s going to happen and is referring to Aerith’s death with the 7 seconds
@Susana A Nope. They're 100% not doing something that extreme. The games will follow relatively similar plot points to the original but this is mostly just a cheapskate way to shorten the story and add random fuckery at the endings of each game to give them epic finales and make people question what'll happen next.
Honestly, after hearing that explanation I like the ending a lot more. I'm actually really excited to find out what happened next within the series. We all got to remember that crisis core, final fantasy 7 and advant children, respectively, was an all in one experience. The remake is taking all those ideas and story line and putting them together in a way that should make since to older players and newer players a like. I want to see what happens, which is what the company wants.
The whole time I was playing the game, I kept saying. There's no way this game can be done in 3 parts. This whole game covers just getting out of Midgar and that's not even half the first disc! Then the changing fate thing started happening and I realized I was in for a different game. Very interested to see where this goes.
Eh, they could've expanded upon areas that the player didn't have access to in the original. I felt it was a bit misleading that SE said Midgar would be massive implying the player could venture into area's that didn't exist in the original. Not giving us an expanded version of what already existed. For instance, when Aerith and Cloud escape from the church that sequence dragged on way longer than necessary when it could've been an opportunity to show something new to the area.
At first i was angry with the changes, but now i wanna see what they come up with. But dam can they give my boy Zack a better VA? They made him sound like a dweeb in this.
I was on board with everything up until the end of the highway.. after that it's just gone too meta for me. Even with scene changes and small additions like Wedge surviving and Sephiroth turning up early. But I worry that now it's going to dilute the experience for new players and they won't see that same winning formula from the original. Myself and fans of the classic were no doubt picking out stuff playing through it thinking "oh yeah I remember this".. and also "can't wait for this to happen".. ..now I feel like we are on unsteady ground.
TheValorous honestly this is the best way to describe it. It’s really unsteady with all the changes made. And at least to me it feels incompatible with the compilation of 7 or even in the worlds of Dissidia. It probably would have been better as a new IP or even a side story like Dirge of Cerberus. But hey this was squares choice.
I'm a new player of FF7 (from FFXV and FFXIV) and am thoroughly excited for what the story may bring. I now even decided to play the original to know what had happened before the deviation. Sounds like a winning formula to me. This makes the next release exciting for both old and new players alike because nobody knows the direction of the game is heading to, and no spoilers like "Aerith will be dead" popping out of nowhere.
@@ethanliew1992 oh my boy. My sweet sweet boy.. Until you 100% the original, you cannot know the sorrow you will feel if this all goes wrong. But enjoy it none the less!
It's a beautiful cop- out, which is to say remaking final fantasy 7 in it's entirety was never in their plans. I get it, game is just massive, with too many sub plots to name. Still, I would have loved for a 1to1 remake of the original with a few surprises here and there. But hey at least we got this kingdom hearts/final fantasy 13 rendition to hold on to.
Everyone seems to pretty well understand what the whispers are there for and what they represent narratively, and you put it super well. But I have a sort of theory for, lore-wise, exactly _what_ they are in the universe. I've been considering them basically "mako exhaust". Largely from Jessie's theory that mako poisoning put her dad's spirit between his body, and actually returning to the planet, which is interesting. She says she's worried a reactor will suck up and consume her father's soul, and that'll be that. That's what I think the whispers are. All the souls of people within the lifestream that have been sucked up and basically burned away by mako reactors for power, stripping them of their humanity and leaving them as soulless husks of basically inert spirit energy that the planet is using to bind them to a hivemind, its own collective will. Just a theory though. I also like the names of the Whisper Harbinger's abilities. "Correction", "Intercession", etc. Almost like the whispers represent the part of the fanbase that wants nothing to change, coming up with its headcannon to "fix" a narrative they never wanted to significantly change.
It's so unnecessary though....to use ff7 remake for commentary on the fanbase hinders the potential for a great story. It's more like a middle finger to the fans and those who think they're not on the receiving end are flinging it right back.
@@kevinvu5432 Well if people don't like it, it's not the game for them. How boring would this game be if it was just FF7 again but with shiny graphics and a new combat system? I personally want *more* FF7, not the *same* FF7 with a new coat of paint.
@@TheLegendOfLame again. Another logical fallacy that we cant have more ff7 unless they make big meta story changes. I wanted more ff7 too. I wanted more gaps filled in. I wanted more context added to key events. I want to see the same events in a whole new way. I didnt want key events to be altered altogether. This isnt ff7. This is ff7: what if.

Quote from a reply in intternet : "Whisperer are an analogy for the fanbase that angry and want to keep the storyline intact. The Whispers actively try to maintain the original order of the story but the characters (developers) want to deviate from that and tell something slightly different. " Man i wish i had more whisperer to kill, felt like killing some internet trolls level of satisfactions.
After playing the game I had the revelation “wait, maybe ‘Remake’ is a subtitle that actually refers to the characters remaking their own destiny???”, then immediately found this video. Oh man FF7 is about to get fuckin meta
What I hope to be the timeline of events is that despite this new future, the game presents a different path with very similar conclusions to the original, or at least has the same impact as the original. Sure, Aerith can live far past where she was originally supposed to in the next game, but the game might touch upon the idea of fate colliding with choice and kill her in a very different way. I don’t think the Arbiters of Fate are done with, they’ll definitely make something from the original come to fruition. Take Wedge for example. He lives waaayyyy past where he died in the original, but the game hints at him ultimately dying in some way at Shinra Tower. The ghosts push him back, the screen fades to black, he basically triggers a death flag (Something about wanting to be helpful?) and you hear the sound of glass breaking. And then he never appears again, even at the end of that cutscene where Biggs seems to be alive. That seems like a death to me. I don’t think this ending means the writers will just create a completely new story out of their asses, they know doing that will absolutely cost them their fanbase that’s for sure, especially with the amount of backlash this game is getting from those who wanted that 1:1 remake. It’s there as a means to allow them to say “hey, we want to explore and expand upon certain characters or situations that were never really given that in the original, but they will still serve the same purpose as the original.” I can’t say I enjoy the dubious marketing they gave for this game, but at the very least they set this up on the first one, and didn’t just pull a fast one on the next installment or otherwise, THAT’D be a scummy tactic. A different storyline, same ending. (Well, similar, I guess.) I cant claim to be a Final Fantasy 7 fan, never grew up with it, nor do I know of Nomura’s works, so I can’t compare the remake to anything else. I’m just looking forward with cautious optimism for what might happen in the future. Also Barret best waifu, fite me
Seeing as Crisis Core is one of my favorite games, I can't wait to see what they do next. I know he may not play a big role, but I'd love to see more of Zack Fair.
So this game is basically hand feeding us nostalgia so that by the end of it, it's now a brand new game with just bits of nostalgia dripped in there. The whispers are literally the script of the previous game which we are made to destroy. It's pretty clever and cheeky. But, when you think about it. Do you really want to play the same game again? Or do you want to have the whole world to explore in a new way? I'm hopeful for the next few games.
@@ali-kun7038 That's the problem with like for like remakes, they become more linear than FF13. Because we know exactly what to do next. At least this angle makes the game new, going to Kalm, Costa del sol, rocket town not knowing if to expect eirths death or not. Now that the whispers have gone, any character can die. I'm all up for remakes but with the likes of RE2/RE3 I haven't played them more than once because I fall asleep as it is nothing new after the graphical upgrade has been stripped away. This Midgar is 30-40 hours long. When the original was 3-4, if that isn't expansion on areas then I don't know what is. Gaming is subjective I get that, but the scale up of this game should be applauded.
@@TheFrustratedBull they turned midgar from 5 hours to a 35 hours experience and that's what i meant, keep johnny, andrea, madam m and all that stuff but i wished they didn't go with the whisper idea. If people want the old way so much just play the damn original with upscaled textures and other mods that fixes issues, it's still fantastic regardless if the graphics look like Playdoh by now. This way Squeenix can please the purists and the people that want to experience something fresh within the world they like can move on with the remake.
Good video but just one thing. The hilt on the Buster Sword is irrelevant. That was simply a design choice for Crisis Core which a lot of fans didn't like. The original is the iron hilt just like in the Remake.
I like the ending as long as the strong story points from the original exist in part 2 I'm cool with the new stuff, maybe the next game will be choice heavy multiple endings perhaps. I like though.
@@Schrodinger_ yeah thats why I think certain stuff might be based off choices, this game already had few minor outcomes based on your choices like tifa's dress and stuff. So maybe it could be like that in part 2. Who knows. But it wouldn't defeat this ending purpose really it's roughly the same minus the whole fate stuff.
Kai oh I search up if episode w is going to happened and they said the finale is going to be episode 2 I’m not joking I search heavily on if the remake going to be episode 2
I honestly like how this turned out, final fantsy 7’s biggest wow-factor was the fact that it was a new game, Sephiroth killing the President of Shinra was terrifying, since we didn’t even know who he was, or what he was planning in the endgame yet etc. Now we know everything, so just remaking the story would actually ruin the game for many fans, like nearly every remake always does. These new story elements I imagine are like, the planet’s lifestream used its power to reset the timeline, back to before Sephiroth was defeated, and the (whispers of fate?) are there to make sure the timeline doesn’t deviate, while the planet itself is trying to encourage it to change through Aerith. What if Sephiroth in the end, isn’t the bad guy this time around? What if something even bigger was always lurking in the background, using Sephiroth as a puppet? It’s all a mystery now and I like it
The seven seconds till the end that sephiroth mentions refers to how Aerith has seven seconds to cast holy and in those seven seconds cloud will witness her death. And to further add to this the city of the ancients theme plays in that scene between cloud and sephiroth so theirs no doubt in my mind Aerith will still dye despite her destiny being altered. The original games events will still happen since how would square market this game? Would you be hyped to see some random new scenes in all the trailers or would you be hyped to see the moments from the original still their? You need to have those iconic scenes and keep them the way they were meant to be due to nostalgia and not having them wouldn’t make this game final fantasy VII anymore. So I wouldn’t be too worried. I do believe the reunion and the northern crater at the end of the series will have the most meta changes. And as a community I do believe that this will be a huge topic of debate until we play part II. But just know that square enix knows how important this project is and I’m sure will do their best efforts to keep as much intact as they can from the original otherwise why not remake this game and cut a bunch of content and make it one game. So I do believe that this ending was done intentionally to give us a massive cliffhanger for part two. We all want to know how the new story events will effect the old FF7 story. Until then I’m sure all of us will remain apprehensive and ambivalent about part II but just know the remake isn’t replacing the original and square has stated countless times they want to make this better than it so if they truly do agree to that statement than I’m sure they’ll keep most of the post midgar events the same, and just know again this remake isn’t replacing the original game it’s living along side it! Hopefully this gave you all some insight on everything! And let’s be respectful and positive in this comment section. The game is in squares hands but it’s up to us to let them know what they must improve on and get right. This video hopefully will help showcase the seven seconds sephiroth was talking about ruclips.net/video/wiKfhIRcOfc/видео.html
Rishika Ranasinghe I think the Zach scene is actually is not a split time line rather I think the stamp logo evolved throughout the gap between crisis core and Ff7. Perhaps outside of midgar stamp looks different. But I think zachs scenes are the same but in the original game Zach died after he carried cloud. In crisis core he battles the large group then wins, and shortly after a new squad shows up and kills him. But in the original Zach was already carrying cloud to midgar and as he was doing so he died to another squad of shinra soldiers who found him. So I think it’s more or less a metaphor on how zachs journey ended failing to reach midgar, but cloud has now made it to midgar and upon leaving it his true journey/ destiny are about to begin, the pursue of sephiroth.
Brandon P I like your explanation and keeps true to the original. Pretty much we’re not supposed to find out that Zak Dies yet. I think they did it this way to keep the players guessing to create a sense of wanting to know more, to want moreee!
i'm kind of torn, because on one hand, yes the iconic scenes are iconic for a reason but on the other hand they basically just took a 40 hour game showing the constrains of "destiny/fate" and the party's determination to fight and change fate. Honestly there's only 2 fates in the entire ff7 game that the story revolves around, Sephiroth's and Aerith's. So if you were going to have this be a "new" destiny, (and also create a STUPID amount of buzz as a result) what better way to do that then by altering such a iconic scene. Honestly this whole scenario, i love because while i was looking forward to play a story i had already known, now I honestly don't know what can happen next and that excites me even more.
After seeing the game and watching this, I'm convinced it's like Spider-man Into the Spider-verse, Injustice or the Legend of Zelda. There's alternate universes or timelines of Final Fantasy VII. This remake is ONE of those alternates along with Original Game and the other universe/timeline in which Zack survives.
@@ZeppHead basically anything. Look forward to Advent Children level dialogue and razzle dazzle. But it's good because it subverts expectations, or something.
Kinda figured since in Aeriths childhood flashbacks she has the pink bow, but in Crisis Core, she has a blue bow and doesnt get the pink bow until she meets zack and he buys it for her. That and Tsengs hair is different
I strongly believe that not only Sephiroth is from a different timeline (universe) to achieve his goal, but also believe Aerith is from a different timeline OR came to a realization of the original timeline that we all know. A timeline where she will be killed by Sephiroth and the team eventually stops him, but not completely destroy him. She knows the original timeline will not fully destroy Sephiroth so she tackles on the set destiny in this brand new universe and choose to create a whole different timeline where they will finally be able to defeat Sephiroth.
I personally think Aerith and Sephiroth from Advent Children are pulling an Ultimecia/Xehanort and influencing their past selves: Sephiroth wants to undo his demise and manipulates Cloud to help him, Aerith wants to help the characters but without influencing the timeline. My take is the next episode wil be about fixing the timeline, and Aerith will die to do it, just not the way we're expecting.
@omar gamal Square Enix really made a gamble with this whole changing/altering the destiny plot. By defeating the whispers/fate, I believe they wanted to show much impact they had towards all different timelines whenever they won against whispers/fate. Their action pretty much altered all other different timeline/dimensions. I had a lot fun fighting against Sephiroth, but felt it was too early in the entire series of the game and worry that if we fight him again in part 2 or 3, it will have a less impact. We now know this FF7 is no longer a remake. It's whole different game. I'm open minded about SE going towards a different story, but it's really a huge gamble they chose FF7 to do this. Hope they pull it off.
@Nobody I never watched Lost, but I get your point. I feel it will get really messy and confusing if they try to intertwine different timelines in part 2 and 3. Having Zach alive pretty much erases the Cloud we all know. So trying to integrate this to the Cloud in a different timeline where Zach isn't alive will be hard for us to swallow.
best explanation I've heard so far...going forward they can't rely on iconic moments from the original anymore....guess we'll see whats in store for part II
I am conflicted with the ending but I won't judge the game just by that part. I'll give it a 9/10 because they nailed and improved a lot of things from the original, characters, soundtrack, battle system are all great.
I was initially upset with the ending. But having sometime to process everything, I’m actually feeling excited for part 2. If this is completely new, then I look forward to it.
I think a bigger reason the change is because of the old game everybody knowing what happens. Now nobody knows who will die and who will live and if cloud will be able to fall in love with aerith or any of that it's all up in the air but I'm excited. Especially cause I got spoiled because of the old game, I've never played it and seen Aerith dies, but now that it can be changed I can be surprised and even if it's not changed much it is still a surprise cause idk what to expect.
This is the analysis I needed. Thanks! Now, can you imagine if group Avalanche changed the timeline so much that Cloud and Zack ends up fighting Sephiroth shoulder to shoulder (even briefly) for the final scene? 😱
Sephiroth came from future he knew he gonna be dead at the end. So he came back to the past ( or another past timeline) and tried to create the new life path but the whispers which are group of future of the future try to obstact Sephiroth action bacause Sephiroth tried to change the future so the whispers wont accept it . Therefore Sephiroth convince Cloud team to defeat the Whispers and Sephiroth could change the life time freely. This game is Bioshock infinite remake
Nailed it in one. This is a villain with foreknowledge of the events that destroy him getting the party to break fate, giving him a second chance at trying new shit out to win. And now the party has to figure out a completely different way to win.
i think with this they can make more than one game.... -one that goes the path of original - one with zack surviving -another one with connecting diferent timelines and interfere with each other... that way they have unlimited ways to bring new FF7 into light
@El Bottoo Agreed. Crisis Core was his story. This remake feels like memberberries and fan service/fan fic over an authentic treatment of one of the best JRPG's of all time.
@El Bottoo I agree with you. I played FFVII when I was 14. And at this time, I strangely feel... jealous about Zack? I didn't like the attention that he could get instead of Cloud. I disliked the fact that Zack was the "true" one before finishing the game.
@El Bottoo Y'all are bitching about the amount of attention Zack's return is getting but reality is everyone and their mom lost their shit when they got a glimpse of him in the last trailer. He is one of the most beloved FF characters after Crisis Core so of course Square Enix is gonna include him someone. The story isn't about him but he is a big part of it so **shrug**
@El Bottoo Bro wtf is your problem? Why can't people like a character? Sure, yeah FF7 isn't about him, but he's one of the most popular characters in the FF franchise in general. On a 2012 Japanese poll, he was THE most popular FF character, even beating out Cloud. Link to poll: novacrystallis.com/2012/12/japan-ranks-their-favorite-male-characters-from-the-final-fantasy-series/ Considering his fame, obviously people are going to be talking about him. And what else would they connect him to? It's not like Zack's been featured in any other FF other than a few spinoffs and mobile games. Jesus Christ, you people just don't let others have an opinion do you?
I think they might be overreaching and undermining some of the original themes. Death was central and it does not mean much in stories where you can change fate. Maybe they can get back to questions about the place of man in the future of the planet... or identity... who knows... I am confused, and I am not sure this makes for a great cutting point.
@@MeldinX2 Dude, the whispers were keeping things on track... them being gone means ANYONE can just WISH temselves as survivors like Biggs and possibly Zack
@@anouk356 What are you talking about? Biggs lived because we had more interaction with him. This inspired him and caused him to fight better and gave him more of a desire to live. Fate tried to kill him, but cloud drove them off. This is why he is alive. We don't know if Zack is alive but if he is it's likely a result of being touched by fate (that explosion), which would naturally alter his path.
I didn't mind the plot elements of the parallel universe / fate themselves, but the storytelling, dialogue, and generally writing... my god, _that_ was bad
@@UnifiedEntity in principle yes, it's like any other plot device, it comes down to how the writers actually implement it. The series Fringe, for example, used them really good. JRPGs though, on the other hand, have a tendency to use them pretty badly...
You know after seeing FFVII Remake ending, I'm starting to think there are 3 timelines now, FFVII original timeline with Zack and Aerith dead, FFVII Remake timeline where Cloud inherits Zack's legacy and Aerith lives, and another one where Zack lives. Huh crazy right, the arbiter now defeated creating two new timelines and somehow they'll both work together to create a new future for themselves.
Mmm 🤔 do meaning 😂it ff7 rebirth 🐦🔥 and next ff7 part 3 come out 2027 would be last one in the ff7 games series they're might spin off games of ff7 characters get owned story to Tell wait and see only time well tell ❤
You know, I'm intrigued where this is going, so far the game has been hella enjoyable with the character development, world building, and epic boss fight that I will give them a chance on what they're planning for Part 2. Easily one of my top Final Fantasy games out there.
I played the original and I so happy to have been able to play this remake, or as you called it, "reimagining". Cloud and Aerith's relationship was so amazing to see with more detail
I'm excited to see where this story goes. I know people wanted the exact same game with nicer graphics but I can always play the original. They've gone the REmake way of reimagining their games.
Exactly. The original game's story is what it is because it was made way back then. The remake is a whole other thing because it both builds on the original, expanding it and at the same time is trying to tell a new story. With how much technology has progressed, I expect whatever crazy cool epic ideas they had back during the first game that they just couldn't apply would be a huge possibility now. Lots of people whining and complaining about changes when they could just play the original if they wanted the same old story and experience. If you play FF7Remake, open your mind and stfu till they finish telling the whole story.
@@emptyskies29 changes are ok when they're well presented and when they fit, which in this case it doesnt. they just threw random stuff at the last hour with overdone sequences, while the changes imply massive deviation from source material and turns the overall story already more convoluted. let alone the fact when fans asked this project they wanted FFVII remade, as in, adapted, with modern tech, not remade with KH crap all over it.
@@sam.246 Well what seems like random stuff to you now is just part 1 of what they have planned to tell in multiple parts so having said that, you shouldn't expect every single thing happening in this first release to even make sense. You're judging the whole story after seeing only the first part just because it can't be fully explained or it doesn't fit what little chunk we are getting out of a bigger broader story. Don't you get that it wouldn't be much of a story if after this Midgar-only game, everything could be answered? It isn't surprising that it looks like random stuff they pulled out of their asses in the later parts because that's what opened the doors for the next part(s). You fail to realize that they may have been asked by the "fans" to just adapt the old game to modern tech but they don't really have to do any of that. They are the storytellers not us. They have a vision that us fans have only two choices, one is to accept with open arms/eyes/minds or two, to complain and whine about not getting just a plain old graphically superior version of the original game. So again, it goes back to either playing the remake for the new story or stick with your old version and be satisified with what you already have.
Yeah, I think it's being taken completely out of context. I think it was just symbolic that Zack is related to Cloud and Aerith. The way they show it, only original fans know who it is. But for new players, he's a hook for...well there's more to Clouds backstory were not getting.
@@watertommyz nope I think there are going to be two timelines in the new game. Zack with aerith in the new timeline and cloud with aerith in the one we've played on. I think aerith will die In Zacks timeline and this time cloud will save her before sephiroth gets to her in the "seven seconds" cloud has to save her. I hope so anyway. I was annoyed when I thought that they were going to retcon her death.
@Aaron9 I disagree. I think it's their vision and they will do what they want with it. That's why they did the ending. That's why the whispers who you fight in the end are shaped like cloud, tifa and Barrett. It was themselves in the original trying to force them to do it the same way it was before. But the characters in this game won so it won't be. I think it's going to be very different and am here for it tbh. Final Fantasy VII was my first FF game and I love it. But I really think that they should do whatever they want with the remake and mute the backlash from "fans" (if you can call people who are truly) . As it will be great regardless, they've proved that with the remake.
I like your point of view, i could not make up my mind on that ending, it's confusing as hell when you expect something else. It makes sense with the text at the end about the "unknown" adventure they are on. Can't wait to see what's following this!
When you realize the "Remake" in the title is not for classification, but is actually part of the plot as they are literally remaking they their destiny.
Thank you...the density or some people. Then the whole Zack argument. The white ether and wisps of Whispers surround him. Then he sees just that in Midgar and is affected by a present day explosion...he's very much alive. They didn't include him to tie in Crisis Core. That's just senseless when they can use flashbacks.
@Reno Thomas You're right. They included him and referenced G SOLDIERS heavily just to show how dead he is. The scene where Aerith senses him would have been enough. Sarcasm aside you could be right. My only backing argument is that Edea was going to be in the original FF7...and the fact that he witnessed an event that happened in present time.
I feel like this is it. This game is looks to be kinda meta and is shifting to have a meaning that touches feelings but points fingers at the purist FF fans who hate change. Maybe the next games won’t delve to strongly into that subject like this one because the ending is leaving many possibilities it’s mind numbing in a nice way.
Can u imagine if in part 2 they actually gave u the '"choice" of progression (ie paths) so that u can actually take the OG route or the new story route. i guess that would satisfy both sides of the camp? hahaha
@Toked Out the Tribesman I am not completely opposed to breaking the game up. FFVII's story is much bigger and longer than the average modern JRPG, the devs themselves realised that if they wanted to cram everything from the original and more they will need to break it up otherwise it would take longer (we are talking about a decade or more). Though they could lower the price.
Nomura took a 15 year old marketing campaign of promising us a faithful remake, delivered 90% of it and spent the remaining 10% telling the fans who wanted a faithful version to fuck off because this is now his story. It's just hard not to be upset about it.
@@OscarMikeFGC Fuck you, is the original in HD full cinematic? Does it have real time battles? Voice acting? A modern interpretation doesn't go off the rails and do whatever you want with the story. Capcom seems to have it figured out with Resident Evil 2 and 3 remake. I guess Square Enix is just too far up Kingdom Hearts' ass. Or maybe they're afraid that if they don't do weird shit they can never be as good as Square Soft was
I found that explanation very useful! I hadn't actually made the connection that the Whispers were connected to Cloud, Tifa and Barrett - so thanks for that! :) I'm shocked at how many people are hating on the ending though. I loved it! And I can totally understand why the developers are taking it in a different direction. They're keeping things fresh and they're giving the Zack and Aerith fans hope. I suspect this might have a somewhat cruel intention behind it though. One of the most powerful events of the game is when Aerith dies. But how can the developers successfully evoke the same levels of grief in their fans, that they did in the original?? The answer is: they can't. Not with a faithful remake, anyway. If everyone knows where and when it's going to happen, it's not going to have the same kind of impact. So they decided to get clever. Give the fans a bit of hope that Aerith might survive. Make them them think that they've really succeeded. And then BAM - hit us right in the feels when we least expect it and devastate us once more! Honestly, I think that's their grand plan!
Bam hit us right in the feels. I both hate to think about that moment yet am most excited about it ...can't please every one but so far so good for me .
Its either that or it's going too be a telltale route where one of the other parties might die replacing aerith (crossing my fingers for your prediction thou)
@@JM-md4zj I seriously doubt any of the other party members will die in replacement for Aerith. What would be the point? In the OG there was a good reason why Aerith died - so she could control the lifestream and limit the damage caused by meteor. None of the other characters would be able to do that as they are not Ancients. So what purpose would a needless death serve? Other than cause outrage? Then again, things are probably going to diverge pretty significantly from the original. So while I do doubt it, I suppose I shouldn't completely rule it out. Who knows what the developers have got in store for us, right?
People are upset because Square have proven that they simply cannot write a good story. They haven't written a good plot in like 10 years. The "re-imagining" is actually doomed. Regardless of whether you like that they blew the constraints off or not, they will never be able to reproduce the writing of the original now.
It's hard to decide on whether the Arbiters where a worthy addition though. I don't want to sound like a purist (it may be inevitable), but really, all we all wanted was to have FF7 re-made with today's tech, to experience the story of the classic in a much more incredible way. That was it, that's what everyone wanted and it seemed like we got it until the ending sequences played out. I found playing through quite surreal, to see all the characters with modern models, with faces and voices as opposed to simple blocky sprites like we were used to, and I was excited to see the rest of the classic story re-told in that fashion. You can't deny that the small things that have already been changed have an impact on your view. Biggs, Wedge and Jessie perishing in S7 in the classic was a big moment, and one could argue spurred more motivation into Cloud and the gang to avenge them. Now, with two (possibly or just one) still alive, that whole moment when the plate fell is far less impactful, not to mention how many people still survived it. How many iconic scenes and moments from the classic will now be scrapped, where we will not get to see them in an entirely new way than what we knew? It's hard not to be disappointed with this, and it's hard to be excited for the next installments. They had the entire story already, all they had to do was simply adapt it into modernity. Sure, change a few minor things around to provide more story flow and even add a few things in like the quest for Jessie with a little backstory. What we are left with now is a worry, a threat that looms over us that the game we desperately wanted a modern re-telling of will not be the same story that we all know and love. The formula was there, they didn't need to change it. If it's all going to be to different, to far removed from the classic story, there's no point to calling it FF7 Remake. It might as well be FF16.
Sounds like they are going to ruin one of my most fondest childhood memories. Made the decision to wait for the PS5 to get the game since I don't have the PS4, but now I might not even get the game if its not going to stay true to the same story.
@@thedodgefiles6628 The fact that this game is not as good as your expectations doesn't retroactively ruin your (I asume) already lived and enjoyed chillhood. Please stop using this phrase. What already exists and has happened can't be changed by new events. I too enjoyed FFVII in 1997 and my memories of that experience are intact in spite of what FFVIIR is doing now
@chaoszieg Same as with Half Duplex. Whatever they did with FFVIIR doesn't change the original product. I too, have played the PSOne original many times. I've already completed FFVIIR and they're two separate experience and the new one doesn't change the old one
I was shook with it all when I finished it a few hours ago. But after soaking the ending all in I’m actually happy with it. We are acknowledging and accepting that the original game happened in the FF7R universe and that sits well enough with me. FF7 will now always be original and have a reason to play it rather than be replaced by this. Also, I like that we all don’t know what to expect going forward. It gives us something to talk and speculate about.
Yeah, no. I wanted a remake. Not a reboot or re-imagining. If I wanted a game that didn't "replace" FF7 by virtue of being too different, I would have played one of the other Final Fantasies. Keep the plot the same, I say. The only things that we (ideally) should be speculating about are the things they want to add to fill in the main plot of the original. That would be fleshing out characters and places that haven't enough screen time in the og. Not what they will be simply replacing it with.
Thx so much. I'm so glad that the developers found a creative way to remake and RENEW a 20+ year old game. I'm excited to see the new changes! I had so many questions after finishing this game. again, thank you.
That wasn't the first time the Whispers had done that to someone. I don't think it necessarily means they killed Wedge but just removing him from a place he shouldn't be. Basically, they didn't want him to interfere more than he already had.
Inquisitor Leondras because it’s stated in game by aerith I’m sure... that the lifestream is connected to all of time for the planet. Hence time travel.
It appears the fabric of time has changed the fate of characters that we thought would end up dead. I wonder will it also effect Aerith? It feels like wibbly wobbly timey wimey!
About the Stamp mascot thing, I totally see why people would think it’s an alternate universe but that does really convince me. Mascots can change appearances and names over time, maybe the Stamp mascot we saw in the Zack scene was an older version. We have no idea how long that chip back was in that canyon, it could’ve been there for ages and at that time the mascot changed. Yes the mascot changed to a different breed of dog but it’s still a dog. If it was cat or anything other than a dog then the alternate universe would make sense.
From a story telling stand point do you think your explanation makes sense? Or do you think they showed us it simply to tell us it is a different timeline? Are we going to get a discussion in the next part explaining how the mascot has changed over the years or no explanation as it was used simply to make it clear it is a different timeline ha? You are putting more thought into it than the creators pal.
@Retroid84 Looking at it in a realistic stand point. That stamp mascot we saw could’ve just been an old model indicating that the event sometime during the past. I think a whole alternate timeline is a little too much because I don’t see how they are going to make that work for the second part. The mascot just being an old model makes more sense to be than it just meaning an alternate universe.
@Retroid84 It can also be depicted as (thanking someone else in the comment section who made me think of this) the old mascot of stamp being Zack while the new one is Cloud. Think about it, Barret refers to Cloud as Stamp so the new stamp is suppose to represent Cloud. We see that stamp everywhere right? And it’s suppose to be the mascot for SOLDIER and Cloud doesn’t remember that he actually wasn’t a soldier. People would look at that Stamp model and say that’s how Stamp always is, but they may have forgotten what he used to look it. Stamp was a different dog, a different person, he was Stamp first. And in the scene with the Old Stamp model it blows away in the wind representing it being forgotten. Zack was forgotten by Cloud and everyone else except for Aerith and Tifa. Cloud, the New Stamp thinks his the OG while he had forgotten about Zack, the Old Stamp.
I think when they challenged fate they were given a vision that was a test to see thier resolve to take on the coming events. The whispers are a very interesting addition... Also the whispers are in advent children.. They surround cloud and sephiroth at the final battle as the smoke we see in the remake.. So it's an idea that has been expanded on.

I don't mind changes here and there--because some of the extraneous character development really endeared me--but I also think Nomura's reliance on using defying fate/destiny as a lazy plot device is something they're becoming over-reliant on. If they wanted to alter and expand some material to accommodate the contributions past games made, fine, but the dementor-wannabes I could do without.
thats just how it is now, companies need to preserve their legacy canons so they just go with fate/destiny devices. I personally believe it is not the wishes of the creative team but a compromise with the suits who are always protecting the brand. they didnt invent it but the jj abrams 'star trek' movies really set a precedent for the current era of remakes we live in. Either way I just try to ignore those elements and take the story at face value but that isn't easy to do with something as entrenched as ff7.
I guess you weren't paying attention to all their interviews. They said not only is this a remake, but also a re-imagining of the events of FF7. They warned us nearly a year in advance of what we were getting into.
@@StrikerTVFang A re-imagining shouldn't take place in an "alternate timeline" and directly refer to - and even rely on knowledge of - the events of the original game, nor should it have immersion-breaking ghosts that show up to hack reality whenever the game goes slightly off script. If they wanted to tell a reimagined story, they should have done exactly that. I was completely fine with everything until the endgame that didn't involve these damn ghosts. (Well, Roche could have been executed better) This was the one game that could have singlehandedly restored my faith in SQEX's ability to make a good modern Final Fantasy game, and the frustrating thing is that they were _almost_ there. So much of the game is incredible by my standards and I can't deny that. The best FF since XII, most likely. But the direction they've gone with the "plot" seriously sours and undermines the entire experience.
One thing I'm wondering about for Part II is how they're going to handle Yuffie and Vincent. They were optional characters in the Original Game, so will they be in Part II or will they be mandatory?
I can’t believe they omitted the most iconic moment in FFvii....the massacre and blood on the walls in Shinra HQ by Sephiroth...this was literally the thing I was looking forward to most. How disappointing
@@Oxaphosphetane Maybe, but I´m not sure, Crisis Core is the same rating as FF7R and it does show some blood, at least in some parts, that being said, the game came out in 2006 so maybe the regulations are different now or something like that
I couldn't agree more. The entire scene with President Shinra and Sephiroth was botched beyond recognition. From a logic standpoint, how in the hell did he end up outside hanging off that ledge? You assume it was Sephiroth, but after he gets back inside he reverts to his normal character, starts monologing to Barret and clearly has NO IDEA that Sephiroth was around. It's awful and makes no damn sense, nor is it addressed. Heck, we never even get to see the iconic scene with him slumped on his desk with the Masamune sticking out of him. Instead he threatens and SUCCESSFULLY INTIMIDATES the entire party with a pistol when they've literally been staring down gatling guns and howitzers the size of their bodies and BIGGER throughout the game up to that point. It's completely non-sensical. I can't get over how badly this scene as well as Chapter 18 in particular was botched, butchered and maimed.
I just bet the game yesterday and I absolutely love this game! Having played the original FF7 multiple times I was so excited for this game and it delivered for me! As with the ending it floored me when they told you basically that now anything could happen and nothing is certain, this excited me so much but at the same time fills me with dread for Cloud and the gangs lives, I think I’m most fearful of the possibility of if we somehow manage to save Aerith if someone else will die instead, not since the time of the Lord of the Rings movies releasing in theaters when I was a kid have I feared for fictional characters lives so much, these next games are going to destroy my soul lol I can’t wait!!!!
Very good analysis! I really liked the remake, best gaming experience I had for a long time. Spoilers below I think they opened up multiple endings for the sequels. It's very common in games to have multiple drastically different endings/branches. With this, let's say there could be in part 2 or 3 an ending where Aeirth survives and they defeat Sephiroth together, but that ending requires to do a new game+ run make perfect choices etc. If you normally play you will end up in the original timeline. I think that could be a perfect idea to satisfy everyone, there is no point redoing the same thing in HD, the original story is good as it is, and it will be always there. With these changes both the remake and the original and even the compilation, can exist at the same time.
Dragonw891 Yeah! This is what I thought! I think this opens the door to player choice and multiple scenarios. Maybe in the next games you can follow the original storyline or an alternate one. You’d still get the expanded original storyline and you can do alternate choices to save Aerith or other things.
@@ANDY-1109 Sequel to FF7 remake, and multiple endings like in Witcher 3. You make certain decisions and you end up witha different scenario at the end.
I think this is setting up for a scenario where Aerith HAS to die. They're giving us this hope with the Remake and changing Destiny that, maybe, we can save Aerith in the end. But I think the big gut punch in the second or third installment will be that Aerith can't be saved, in any timeline or reality, if Sephiroth is to be stopped. This can give newcomers to FF7 a chance to experience what a lot of us felt back in the 90s, and it gives us veterans a new feeling of loss that mimics how we felt back then. Honestly, it's pretty genius if they decide to go that route.
If it were just a 1:1 Remake, then there would be no surprise. Sure, we'd be sad about Aerith's death and it would be awesome to watch it play out in HD, but we wouldn't experience that same loss and shock that we felt back then. If the Remake can set us up with false hope, then kill her anyway, I think we can all experience that loss again. I don't know how it will play out, and that is exciting to me.
The old adage comes to mind, be careful what you wish for, you may get it. My grandmother always told me this and she was correct. We never should have wished for a remaster. It is good as it is. I'm hoping they don't completely retcon it and use time travel or parallel dimensions as the reason. It's over done now. *sigh*
The use of the whisperers is actually ingenious. But assuming that this is a different timeline, I guess I can accept Zack not being dead IF he isn't ambushed. When I saw the ending just now, I remembered that his death is essential to the entire cascade of events and was feeling a bit...well, worried about retcon. Another thing to note is that the scenes from Advent Children were included, but if those were images of the predetermined future, then that means there's probably going to be a change involving Aerith's death. Could this mean that Aerith lives? Could it mean that Zack still lives now? What does this mean for Yuffie, Vincent, Cid, etc? It does leave a lot of questions, and I'm personally trying not to compare too much to the original even though I loved the original.
Ohhhh... I think I know what they are doing. You know how in compilation alot of things didn't make sense as part of the original game? Maybe it's a way to naturally add all that, like crisis core stuff with Genesis, without it feeling inconsistent.
That's exactly what they're doing. They even mention G and S Soliders. Genesis is canon in FFVIIR. So from what I understand, they're keeping the majority of stuff used in Crisis Core and working them into the OG timeline, while working towards a future than ends with Sephiroth being completely destroyed. Which means AC and Dirge of Cerberus never happen. This is probably why they stopped adding to the Compilation of FFVII before it reached it's ending. Dirge left on a huge cliffhanger after all.
Yep this is probably their way of diluting the original ff7 story with all of the nonsense compilation bullshit. I really wish square would just forget about the compilation shit and admit it isn't canon but I guess that isn't happening.
There's basically two outcomes here: 1. They double down and change the original story, thereby almost certainly pissing off the original fanbase given their track record with storytelling over the past decade. 2. The ending is a bait and nothing is changed, which basically means that the plot point was merely added to create an "epic" ending for FF7R part 1. I would hope for everyone's sake that it is the latter because it certainly makes a lot more sense; why would you take such an unnecessary risk in changing the plot when the original storyline still holds up today (and is perhaps even more relevant than ever)? They've shown that they understand what the fans want in everything before this "twist"; the more developed character interactions, the more fleshed out environments. And despite some shortcomings outside of this ending such as the combat camera (especially against flying enemies) and the asinine sidequests, the game was an absolute delight to play. I'll reserve final judgement until the rest of the game comes out but it is a bit of a warning flag that they decided to go this route for the ending.
I think the other parts are going to remain largely the same, but there is lots of uncertainty still. It’s implied that Aerith could survive. And if Zack is still alive that’s gonna throw things for a loop too.
@@ironwolg zack did not have to directly influence the story remember hes on a different timeline from the party, what could happen is cloud + zack teamup (one side) the usual suspect (one side) team up to fight same sephiroth example laguna party ffviii.. we could even see cloud dies in the zack timeline.. theres too much possibilities
Friggin scary is what it is. You remember Aeris's reaction to the smoky ghosties in the beginning? That's me with this multiverse stuff. This is turning into a horror game. A horror of bad plotlines.
How are those the only two possible outcomes? It can go any number of ways. Personally, I think the main story beats and moments will mostly follow the original, but with some key twists and changes.
I'm praying that the second outcome is true. But considering that the game ends on a quote saying "the unknown journey will continue" makes me think it's not likely unfortunately.
Thank you for being one of the only discussions I've seen that doesn't start spoiling future events of the original final fantasy 7. I'm playing through that now but still wanted to hear discussion about the remake without spoilers of the original.
I literally just finished this game an hour ago so thanks for giving me a better understanding of what I witnessed. I am excited to see where the rest of this series goes.
I LOVED THIS GAME but I just need clarity on somethings: 1) the Sephiroth they met and fought was the real Sephiroth? or sorta of Whisper's version? 2) Zack is alive, but he's in an alternative timeline? Damn it's the only thing I didnt like ahah I didnt feel it necessary, and I loved the Zack story that way, as a background of Cloud and Aerith's past 3) Why Biggs is alive? I thought he died in ch.12! So what about Jessie? And Wedge?
1. Either one of the clones or Sephiroth proper. Either way, his appearing before the party makes the whispers lose their fucking minds. Remember, they're trying to ensure the events of the original take place (the ones that end with Sephiroth getting destroyed by the party and deepthroating Omnislash). So they go over the top in their effort to prevent the party from fighting him since it's far too early and will break the ideal sequence of events. 2. Yeah, it took me a while to come around to the Zack thing since it's so pivotal. So pivotal, in fact, that it can't be the same timeline. The design of Stamp is wrong, the Midgar in the distance looks wrong. The intent here is clear: Eventually, probably at the very end of the adventure two parallel parties will intersect and drop Seph. It's the ONLY thing that never happened in the original. Everything else he has seen. 3. They broke fate. Biggs, Jessie and Fate were fated to die and the whispers ensured that. However, Biggs being alive shows the sheer power of this act. As we were shown, they could bring back the dead if it preserved the OG FFVII's events. Apparently them being removed might undo their actions. The theme of the ending is very clearly HOPE and possibility.
@@RicochetForce wow thanks for the answer, like it! Btw, Sephiroth talked about the 7 seconds... Idk if u remember this scene, in the end. Is it referred to Aerith right? I wonder if she'll survive. Idk what to think. Im still not into this idea of Zack's return and Aerith's survival. They were very important elements of the main story. This could mean a strong distance and will to create something new, will to surprise fans... maybe with some new death, Im afraid of Tifa uff... *cry* sorry for the english >
All I know is, I just hope they add to the story and don't take away from it. There is a difference between "changing" and "altering." Change typically brings a big overhaul, while alterations just brings small differences that, hopefully, add to it and make it even more interesting. In this case, I'm hoping for alterations and not changes. Also, plot (structure of events) and story (actual events) are different. I don't think people are uneasy about the plot, more about the story.
To face the god of destiny at the end of this "remake".... that not only retroactively changes the original plot, it also ruins the current storyline. If Cloud and his anime party can already kill a god, there's no character development. What's next? A even bigger and stronger god? It's crazy how somebody at square allowed this to happen, lol anyone with a brain can notice the major flaws. Writing is not something subjective, humans are writing stories for 4 thousand years, there countless studies and techniques. Writing is something objective, it's possible to notice bad writing and good writing. Saying that, the horrible writing on this remake should have been taken in consideration (not only the ending, but the entire thing. Sephiroth, Jenova and Zack are completely disconnected with the whole plot, lol incredibly generic motivations for secondary characters, etc). Witcher 3 and Persona 5 are the current standards, it's unbelievable how Square have the audacity of releasing such mediocre stories, lol first FF15, then Kingdom Hearts 3 and now this fake remake... And guess what, the same director and writer were involved in all these games.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 If they haven't done this destiny ending that you complained, we would not see the future installments. If they remade this game as like what you wanted, you'll complain that they didn't change a lot of things that would excite the old and new fans. It's a double edge sword.
Pretty sure wedge is dead in the remake as well as there was a scene with the whispers pushing him off the shinra building. Not sure why everyone thinks he is still alive but correct me if I’m wrong
Great video and really clear explanation! I'm a long time lover of final fantasy and 7 in particular. The ending shocked me because the whole game up to then had been pretty close to the original (just lots of new visions of everything and expanded areas, etc) and the last chapter just threw that out of the water! Super risky, super interesting and I'm now SUPER excited for what's to come! ...scared but excited!
I think the watchmen of fate represent the fans of the original Final Fantasy 7. Everytime the developers wanted to change something, fans started screaming in anger. The watchmen of fate do the same thing: Something is about to change -> the fans start to complain. Something is about to change -> the watchmen of fate start to attack. The bigger the change the louder the fans start to complain. The bigger the change the angrier the watchmen of fate get. It's kind of funny if you think about the game like that.
@@johnbryanrondon8784 It is a very interesting ideal indeed. Is reminds me of details related to The End of Neon Genesis of Evangelion details that quite remake or rebuilt some past events on the original story inspired by angry fans.
The reason why fans "complain" is because apart from ff 14 square enix has been fucking up the ff name for over a decade now and they don't have any faith in anything square does anymore especially if nomura is involved. Hell ff14 was originally a fuck up until they went in and fixed it.
@@rayweaver8295 that's a good answer. FFX was the last good one for me. That was a looong time ago. I'm worried they'll fuck this game up too. The story is a masterpiece already, you don't change a god damn Van Gogh cos you want to make your stamp. Ah we'll see what they do.
@@Zanmato_7 Agreed. I guess all we can do is wait and see how this thing turns out but I just can't see it. I've been burned to many times. I knew there was some weird stuff going on when Edith first join Cloud and there was a flash forward if her materia fall down those steps after being stabbed.
Instead of remake as in the resident evil sense, this is "Remake" as in "Advent Children." "Crisis Core". Etc. This I think is a continuation of the story; Sephiroth as shown is the Advent Children Sephiroth; fully aware of everything.
@@ryanleone7113 Exciting for you, worry some for others. I'm fully expecting the rest of the story to be happy go lucky.

Good point. Didn't think of that.
As soon as I read the descriptions from using Assess on the Whispers my mind went straight to the Advent Children.

That's, actually a good point.
@TheNamelessAnt they are cleaning up the disaster called the compilation. I cant wait to see where they go with this story too! I also think that the Sephiroth in Remake is the same sephiroth that was in Advent Children and somehow went back in time to fuk with cloud in Remake.

Playing Aerith and Tifa in Part 1 really makes me believe that we can play as Zack in part 2.
If this is real, Crisis core was meaningless. "you are my living legacy" devs can't bring my tears back.
I came up with a theory that summed things up pretty nicely and explained a LOT of the curious shit Aerith and Sephiroth do in the story:
As the video said, the whispers are the planet trying to maintain the OG FFVII's events which lead to Sephiroth's defeat. The harder the party deviates from this path, the more the extreme the effort to protect/stop them. As long as the whispers exist, they'd be constantly interfered with, so they had to go. However this act benefits one individual massively:
Sephiroth. But there's a very interesting thing going on here:
AERITH.

Than FF7 would have been the most complex story series in the whole Final Fantasy series.
a multiverse/portal opening with characters from different timelines coming to fight Sephiroth, à la Avengers Endgame ?

Shumayel Khan got tears in my eyes just by reading this... I believe the last sentence Aerith says in FF7R about the sky is pronounced in CC. I just want to see them happy 😭😭😭

@Aaron9 CC is canon.
I can still say that I truly loved this game, and I can't help but appreciate the heart and care that the developers put in to creating this
So I'll be along for the ride and enjoy probably 95% of it, which is still a solid A in my book!
Like, when they introduced how the arbiters worked
I actually went "Yoko Taro helped these people out on this... " And also went, "HAH NOMURA IS FLIPPING THE BIRD A THE PLAYER" ... Me and my indie gamer head thinking about post modernism
Same thoughts here
@@FF18Cloud Thinking back on it now and with more context, I am totally fine with how the arbiters are used in the story.
When Sephiroth said Cloud had 7 seconds left and asked him what he would do, the ensuing scenes were the result of Cloud's decision (before returning from the edge of creation).
i dont get it
Can u explain that more?
@@Theoneandonly88able Exactly! I wanted to see the Sector areas unexplored in FF7, though they were only a fly-by of the intro screen...

Foreshadowing from Square Enix, laughing at the purist 'cause they're gonna Remake the story.
This is a very good analysis of what happened, and I especially appreciate your "let's wait and see" attitude.

Quote from a reply in intternet : "Whisperer are an analogy for the fanbase that angry and want to keep the storyline intact. The Whispers actively try to maintain the original order of the story but the characters (developers) want to deviate from that and tell something slightly different.
"
Man i wish i had more whisperer to kill, felt like killing some internet trolls level of satisfactions.
After playing the game I had the revelation “wait, maybe ‘Remake’ is a subtitle that actually refers to the characters remaking their own destiny???”, then immediately found this video. Oh man FF7 is about to get fuckin meta
Meh, I hate meta stories. I don't like being made aware that a story is a story because it happens in the story.
Tacky.
Also Barret best waifu, fite me
I´m thinking the same, in the end events will probably turn out in a similar way that the original, or at least that´s what I think.
How about both? Remove the whispers and use the og script while freshing out the characters and areas like any remake out there.
My biggest fear is that it will turn into something like kh or chrono trigger and ripping off it's identity or worse.
So much this^ (original comment)
If people want the old way so much just play the damn original with upscaled textures and other mods that fixes issues, it's still fantastic regardless if the graphics look like Playdoh by now. This way Squeenix can please the purists and the people that want to experience something fresh within the world they like can move on with the remake.
Good video but just one thing. The hilt on the Buster Sword is irrelevant. That was simply a design choice for Crisis Core which a lot of fans didn't like. The original is the iron hilt just like in the Remake.
Manuelle Sqerret maybe they just assumed that fans are not observant enough to know that they reuse that scene.
I like the ending as long as the strong story points from the original exist in part 2 I'm cool with the new stuff, maybe the next game will be choice heavy multiple endings perhaps. I like though.
Kai ok maybe I’m not pissed of this ending after all if episode 2 is the final than I’m done.
@@mikeehrmantraut1899 huh?
It would kinda defeat the whole purpose of the current ending if the sequels use all the broad strokes of the original story.
This video hopefully will help showcase the seven seconds sephiroth was talking about

Exactly! Not to mention that the galaxy or cluster of stars that Cloud stares at the end of the scene are in the shape of Aerith's flower!
Nice catch! Also the Zak scene can be just fake memories Cloud have of Zak?
I'm ok with this. I've endured kingdom hearts afterall
Square Enix literally explained themselves with the characters dialogue. I love it, it’s ballsy, and I respect it their decision to change it up.
Damn so the remake in the title basically stands for remaking the timeline

Yo exactly. Wtf happened and wtf is going to happen?
You may be onto something here. I feel similar.
What do u mean different timeline? How many timelines are there for ff? Im new to ff and i just finished the game but so confused woth the ending
Glad to know I'm not the only one who needed some time, haha
After seeing Sephiroth wrapped in violet fire, I think its possible.
This game is Bioshock infinite remake
and the flash tv series. the whispers are like the time wraith. and sephiroth is acting like reverse flash/eobard thawne
Nailed it in one. This is a villain with foreknowledge of the events that destroy him getting the party to break fate, giving him a second chance at trying new shit out to win. And now the party has to figure out a completely different way to win.
i think with this they can make more than one game....
-one that goes the path of original
- one with zack surviving
-another one with connecting diferent timelines and interfere with each other...
that way they have unlimited ways to bring new FF7 into light
Link to poll: novacrystallis.com/2012/12/japan-ranks-their-favorite-male-characters-from-the-final-fantasy-series/
Considering his fame, obviously people are going to be talking about him. And what else would they connect him to? It's not like Zack's been featured in any other FF other than a few spinoffs and mobile games. Jesus Christ, you people just don't let others have an opinion do you?
I dont think, they will make this series again.
When you explain it this way it makes so much more sense and I really appreciate it. I wish the game had explained it this clearly lol.
I think they might be overreaching and undermining some of the original themes. Death was central and it does not mean much in stories where you can change fate.
Maybe they can get back to questions about the place of man in the future of the planet... or identity... who knows... I am confused, and I am not sure this makes for a great cutting point.
I hope now that they destroyed fate that also means that the whispers won't return and can be used to save people that die in the next parts.
Feels when characters in Dbz die. But then everyone gets constantly revived. So doesnt matter who dies.
@@ThePresentation010 Yep it kinda cheapens the death in a way.

Exactly!
If you trust SE writers to make a coherent story after FFXV and KH3 then shame on you tbh.
I think they just didn't want to show zack getting gunned down yet, that's for future parts - I believe he's still dead
Ooooh it's the dude himself soulsmaus!
Me too
Yeah, I think it's being taken completely out of context.
Mind blown
SHADOWfox99 Fucking Meta
I feel like this is it. This game is looks to be kinda meta and is shifting to have a meaning that touches feelings but points fingers at the purist FF fans who hate change.
Maybe the next games won’t delve to strongly into that subject like this one because the ending is leaving many possibilities it’s mind numbing in a nice way.
Can u imagine if in part 2 they actually gave u the '"choice" of progression (ie paths) so that u can actually take the OG route or the new story route. i guess that would satisfy both sides of the camp? hahaha
Aerith :'( NOOOOOO
@Toked Out the Tribesman I am not completely opposed to breaking the game up. FFVII's story is much bigger and longer than the average modern JRPG, the devs themselves realised that if they wanted to cram everything from the original and more they will need to break it up otherwise it would take longer (we are talking about a decade or more). Though they could lower the price.
The OG storyline doesn’t include Yuffie or Vincent. I think a lot of the changes have to do with them
Forcing a premature battle with Sephiroth down our throats tells me otherwise.
@@albelvalentine8983 Yes it does tf? Especially Vincent! Lucrecia was Sephiroths biological mom ffs
As long as they have Vincent, Yuffie, Cid, and Cait Sith party members and give Red XIII some game mechanics. I’m fine with a reimagining of FFVII.
Nomura took a 15 year old marketing campaign of promising us a faithful remake, delivered 90% of it and spent the remaining 10% telling the fans who wanted a faithful version to fuck off because this is now his story.
It's just hard not to be upset about it.
@Shalashaska just play the original then.
I'm shocked at how many people are hating on the ending though.
Regardless of whether you like that they blew the constraints off or not, they will never be able to reproduce the writing of the original now.
im fine with the ending, but i understand why lots of ppl hate it.
The whispers are actually “Great Value” brand Dementors from Walmart.
The last quote of Aerith: "I miss the steel sky of Midgar". I think it signifies how much more of a threat Sephiroth has become.
Sounds like they are going to ruin one of my most fondest childhood memories. Made the decision to wait for the PS5 to get the game since I don't have the PS4, but now I might not even get the game if its not going to stay true to the same story.
@@MrPhilipIrving1 Um no it wouldn't it. If it was remade properly it would have actually lived up to the name that square enix gave it.

But Wedge is pushed through a window, or is implied in the Shinra Building.
Jorge Galarza well he died in the original so he had to die......
With how this game presumably just revived Zack long after his death, you have to wonder if Wedge actually died or not at Shinra HQ
Huh so he deleted his comments.
It appears the fabric of time has changed the fate of characters that we thought would end up dead. I wonder will it also effect Aerith? It feels like wibbly wobbly timey wimey!
It is forsure.

I loved the game the characters were on point but I really wish they sticked to the original story. I wanted a remake, not a recreation.
its a remake not a remaster
I guess you weren't paying attention to all their interviews. They said not only is this a remake, but also a re-imagining of the events of FF7. They warned us nearly a year in advance of what we were getting into.
A spin-off, even. Just another addition to the extended lore.
It was a bait and switch.
@@StrikerTVFang A re-imagining shouldn't take place in an "alternate timeline" and directly refer to - and even rely on knowledge of - the events of the original game, nor should it have immersion-breaking ghosts that show up to hack reality whenever the game goes slightly off script. This was the one game that could have singlehandedly restored my faith in SQEX's ability to make a good modern Final Fantasy game, and the frustrating thing is that they were _almost_ there.
I think they opened up multiple endings for the sequels.
What multiply ending for the sequel⁉
What sequel ?sequel to original FF7 ?
Dragonw891 Yeah! This is what I thought! I think this opens the door to player choice and multiple scenarios. Maybe in the next games you can follow the original storyline or an alternate one. You’d still get the expanded original storyline and you can do alternate choices to save Aerith or other things.
@@ANDY-1109 Sequel to FF7 remake, and multiple endings like in Witcher 3. You make certain decisions and you end up witha different scenario at the end.
I really hope so! I would like to be able to save Aerith, she’s always been my favorite character and her dying so soon never set well with me!
After wishing for so many years Aerith's death didn't happen, this made me realised that I actually don't want that to change. Strange.
*sigh*
@@chaos8239 Meh. I'm a spergy purist and hate it. LOL
@@chaos8239 I just really love this game and the lore so it's pissing me off. I'll get over it, maybe.
@Sol 01 Yeah, but everything about him is hilarious.
@@rayweaver8295 Nope! They are stuck with this mess they made lol
Yes!
There's basically two outcomes here:
I LOVED THIS GAME
but
I just need clarity on somethings:
1) the Sephiroth they met and fought was the real Sephiroth? or sorta of Whisper's version?
2) Zack is alive, but he's in an alternative timeline? Damn it's the only thing I didnt like ahah I didnt feel it necessary, and I loved the Zack story that way, as a background of Cloud and Aerith's past
3) Why Biggs is alive?
*cry*
sorry for the english >
All I know is, I just hope they add to the story and don't take away from it. There is a difference between "changing" and "altering." Change typically brings a big overhaul, while alterations just brings small differences that, hopefully, add to it and make it even more interesting. In this case, I'm hoping for alterations and not changes. Also, plot (structure of events) and story (actual events) are different. I don't think people are uneasy about the plot, more about the story.
When I saw the harbinger, I was like "Nomura, what's Darkside doing here?" Lol
I'm kinda conflicted right now with the ending tho...
He might be thinking about the ending of KH3 when doing FF7R which is a red flag but who knows what will happen in the future.
I personally thought the harbinger was Darksides big daddy coming for revenge against all the KH players who thoroughly made Darkside our bitch
@@kakashihatake313 The ending was probably to pander the KH fans into FF7R...
The watchmen of fate do the same thing:
Something is about to change -> the fans start to complain.
Something is about to change -> the watchmen of fate start to attack.
The bigger the change the louder the fans start to complain.
The bigger the change the angrier the watchmen of fate get.
It's kind of funny if you think about the game like that.
meaning the amount of whispers in the alley scene is the amount of fans screaming "WTF IS DIS SE?!!!!". LIT
I don't think nomura and nojima have the ability to even put this new story in the same realm as the original or ff6-10. The golden age of ff is long gone and I don't think it's coming back.
Idk but I really enjoyed the ending. I’m excited for part 2 for sure
That's what makes it exciting, its a sequel at that point.
Ditto! And I am excited!
@@ryanleone7113 Exciting for you, worry some for others. I'm fully expecting the rest of the story to be happy go lucky. I'm fully expecting all three avalanche members alive and Zack coming back so everyone can have what they want.
Basically I'm expecting one of the themes of FF7 "moving foward" to be broken. Because ya know, we can just time travel/parallel world, undo the really sad stuff and everyone can be happy!
@@ThatGuy-en2nn Thing is the whispers are defeated, and I have the sneaking suspicion that the plot armor is therefore gone. The things they forced might be undone, but now they can no longer force anything either for or against you.
As something related... It might not be Advent Children Sephiroth specifically, but during the fight one of his lines is "I have seen the future."
