If you don't have the special tool, a long piece of 3/8" All-Thread, 2- 3/8" nuts, 2- 3/8" washers , a seal driver kit from Harbor Freight is all you need. Use the all-thread rod to pull the seal into place by going in from the knuckle end. Use 2 seal installer dies from the HF kit that are the appropriate diameter to fit the seal and one to fit the other end of the axle tube by the knuckle. Hope that's clear.

If you do not have the tool, a long piece of 5/8 threaded rod, a few nuts, a hole saw the same diameter as the seal, and a two or three-way puller works fine when installing this type of seal.
Loose joints take out the seals perhaps? I’ve seen tons of them clog up the axle vents and blow seals. Was pretty rampant on some pipeline rigs that played in the mud frequently.

All that seal does is seal against fluid on a steel shaft. Rubber to steal, 🤔🤔 no squeaky. Now your u joint thats spinning and is netal to metal once theres no more lube.......could be your problem

@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod sorry I should've been more specific. I'm replacing the vacuum seals on the axle and the fluid came from where the axle sits. On a 99 f250
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod just like in video basically but more on the passenger side. Had the vacuum seal bust which caused the manual hub lock bust aswell

Slipping a gear wrench over the long nut shaft before putting on end cap makes a speedy replacement... very thorough video good👍🤠
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 we said that but got edited out when we sped on the video speed
Did my 2002. Quite the job if you have auto hubs. Best to have all the right tools so it's done right the first time.
Try 4-ounces of AT-250 per diff to keep the seals soft and long lasting! also works on engine seals, power steering and floor jacks

Fantastic and very informative! Will that spreader tool work on a 1997 f350 Dana 60?
Yep
Thanks man👍
A little preventative maintenance goes a long way to avoid these expensive repairs.

I wish you could have shown using the case spreader for us. If you don't have a case spreader what's the best way to reinstall the diff?
Set it in and tapped in with a rubner mallet
Is there a lip that the seals stop against so you know when they are seated properly?
Yea they bottom out

How do you get it put back together
What's the part # on the round seal installer that goes on the end on that rod? Also are they both the same or is there a left and right?
Same....tool number i showed comes with all
Oh ok nice
I’m trying to find that tool but it’s just the spreader bar and not the round seal pusher
I’m about to do those seals While I have it all that open would it hurt to replace the pinion seal since it’s original and it’s a 2013 f-350

Sadly, that’s just for the spreader. The mandrels are $100+ each.

Not keeping your hubs locked and change your diff. fluid.
