I always tell people that this time trial is more dependent on Boost Management than anything else. Holding those boost items and using them at key moments are essential.
Exaaaaactly, like I said, maybe if you want that tip-top spot it'll be luck-based, but if you just want to breach the % luck has nothing to do with it.

Didn't know speedsters get boost by bumping into others. That and getting the item if I don't have them in the ruins air jump will most certainly help me. Thanks for the tip.

It's a mix of both. There are fewer players, so they decided to make the % smaller. I had a theory it was based on sales, of course, I could be TOTALLY wrong. Keeping the event at top 10% and top 25% with fewer players would mean more players would have a chance at a free character. This would in turn decrease sales. Regarding the players getting better, yes aaaand no? Some people are playing on smurfs or having someone else do it for them so they can be inside of the top 5%. This is something Gameloft doesn't address and again, I assume it's because those players are making it so fewer people qualify...in turn giving them more sales. I'm not really the type of person to be "that guy", but just based on what I've been seeing and the facts presented. That's really the conclusion I came up with. Again, could be totally wrong. Every previous event had more players. Every month/event we have the player base gets smaller and smaller, which is why a lot of their monetization reflects that. It's not to say the game is dying, but it needs some help for sure. Again, I hate being "that guy", but I always look at facts and what is present before I make any type of comment like this. Also, I still can be completely wrong this is just a theory and I'm ok with that. I honestly hope I am wrong. I hardcore apologize for the wall.
Thanks for the reply, I was curious if Wall E would bring in players compared to lets say Oswald and past characters. I can imagine some flooding at the top with bots and extra accounts. This is also a way for them to get the extra practice. I will say that in ranked Im getting a lot of 1-4 player lobbies sadly. I also wonder how much the holidays are playing into this as well. She is incredibly difficult to get and now we can’t even purchase this character outright without going bankrupt from the new boxes…and even that won’t guarantee that we get her.
So far got 1:55:261 and also the hack ability at times can help if the boost nor Wall-E's unique skill doesn't pop up so it gives em some boost using the reverse trap hack wall

The good thing is that with Christmas finished, more people did jump into the game and helped to expand out the Top 5% out to be a bit more fair to those sitting on the border. Yesterday, I did get 1:55 and placed me around 1100, so I like to think that will be enough to coast for the rest of the time. Still, I’ll take your suggestions into account to since there is always that possibility. Still, I think 1:55 might be the safe zone wiggle 1:56 could be pushing the boundaries a bit. Definitely would be nice to know if there was a specific number, but that’s probably overthinking it.
The differences I've noticed are basically milliseconds. You'll gain large placement just by being a little faster, still don't agree with the % changes, but what can we do. - shrug -

Even improving one’s time by a couple milliseconds will shoot them up the rankings considerably. Hopefully those following your channel and other Speedstorm like channels will be apart of that top 5%
i dont think that's the case. i have no clue what i'm doing and i still managed to drop off three seconds with this video (after about two days and practice on local track). im 1:55.439 i hope its enough though, been kicked once but that was before i watched this to move my down time
Damn, I'm on 1:55:05 and took the same route and method as Lofton, just the item spamming got me 🤧 You only ran out of nitros towards the end after lots of drifting, and I ran out twice cuz didn't get nitros 🤧 And Poppin' got a hundredth lower than mine, wow 🎉

Yea, the earlier you do the event, the easier it is to place in the top spots. Later the event goes on, the harder it is to place in the top spots. Ironically, other spots become easier to place in as more players pile in, but that top %...ooof. You got this though, I believe you can get lower if you keep at it.

Yea, multiplayer leaderboards are rough. You don't stand a chance without levels or stars.

Yea, should be good. The top 10k is pretty much the cutoff at this point in time. I don't think it'll shift too much. Keep an eye on it though!

Here's a question. How do you start with a nitrosboost? You bought him and have his epic crew?
Hit the sweet spot during the countdown. The green area gives you a nitro boost along with a slam using a speedster.
