    ADHD Schedules are no different than neurotypical schedules, but our energy is VERY different than neurotypical energy. So how do you schedule your week when you have ADHD and your energy isn't so predictable?
    That's what I address in todays video. I've been working closely to design an ADHD friendly schedule that aligns to my energy and work flow for over a year now, and I've learned a LOT in that time. Today, I'm sharing it with ya'll so that you too, can harness your ADHD schedule and make it work for you!

    Yes! The theory of blocking every single thing is a perfectionist’s fantasy. It always seemed to remind me of how I’m failing at calendaring. Now I just set my calendar with tasks and I can do them as my energy ebbs and flows. Thanks for all the great content. ❤

    This idea is very similar to the Flylady. She's a very old school decluttering/ house cleaning guru. Ironically a lot of people with ADHD follow her too.

    I feel like having every minute of my day scheduled out too overwhelming, I schedule the top 3 most important items and get those done, if I am able to finish those task then I add on another. I love the idea of scheduling 1 day a week for your coaching business, I have my own Pilates business and there are days I just need to sit down and program and it can be so scattered and rushed. I am going to re-think which day will work best for this. Love the videos

      Thanks! Yes, theming your days is really helpful. Aim to minimize transitions between tasks as little as possible. It saves so much head space and energy.

    Oh my goodness I totally forgot about "transitions" being hard. No wonder I can't go to town, get groceries & a couple errands, put them away, eat lunch (late due to being distracted while in town), and collapse on the net from fatigue, THENNNN never get to do my hour of crafting as a reward to boost myself after all that. Whew.
    My question is: I want to know, how do you only have 1 theme day and get these all done: basic house cleaning, finances, crafting, grocery/errand, a day to do kitchen type work (make/bake/fill etc), projects (inside or out) like decluttering etc.

    I make and re-make schedules like it's nobody's business! Trying to fit all these into a 5 to 6 day week and still have that down time to watch the clouds go by that I crave every day (with a warm cup of tea of course.)

      Good question. themes for me are mostly work focused. The "life stuff" is sometimes themed, and sometimes it just happens when it happens. I also optimize a LOT. For example, ordering groceries on line for pick up or delivery will save you SO much time. Fewer transitions and more time to sip tea and watch the clouds go by.

    ❤ I'm on disability with a BFA and planning to continue to get better. I plan to get my whole house clean and organized so I can become successful.
    I am undiagnosed with ADHD symptoms and struggles. I know what to do. I'm just not getting things done.
    I agree that putting creative days together and other days next to each other. Yes.
    I have a paper calendar and plan to try an app, too. I don't know which app yet. I already use the calendar in my phone and set alarms. But, it doesn't always help. I think once I get the office unpacked and organized, I'll be able to go in there and use it. I will set up a podcast area in there, too.
    You're right in so much here. I agree.

    Caren, your videos are so helpful to me. You are absolutely correct about, yet again feeling like a failure when time blocking starts to fall apart. Scheduling tasks within a flexible framework is a great idea!

    You're videos are so comforting and interesting to me - thank you for making them!! I struggle a lot when I have a busy part of my day and when I get home I feel totally drained and don't have the energy to keep going with necessary tasks but I think scheduling around my energy will help :)

    I love this thank you! I'm an artist myself who works a 9 to 5 at a studio and my hustle is also a grocery shopping gig. However, I want to sell projects online but getting started/learning what to do is the biggest hurdle. Can't quit the 9 to 5 unless I'm getting similar income elsewhere

      Use the grocery hustle to find courses/ equipment/ legal stuff to set up. Then quit the grocery thing and replace it with selling art online. If you're a 2D artist, easy to sell prints (digital or printed out) of art you've made without needing to make new art all the time.

    This! exactly my experience with the time blocking. I themed my days but that doesn't seem to work as well, but I think it's because I just did because others did it... but understanding why (reduce transitions) is the missing ingredient. Thanks Caren!!!

    Hi Caren, this was so helpful, thank you so much. The real-life examples were useful and thank you for the visuals on how you've set up your tasks list. I feel validated with the transitions piece, they are totally hard for me. I'm freelancing right now as well as looking for another additional gig, so I've tried to use block calendaring to separate the tasks but like you said it doesn't account for low energy days. I end up switching between client work + applications and that alone eats up a lot of energy.
    Do you use any other apps to jot down events or tasks to then later transfer to Notion? I find myself using Google for meeting invites and Reminders app on my phone for small tasks because it's convenient but tasks can get lost. I've used Notion and Asana but yet to stick to one platform for everything because of set-up time, and (so ADHDer of me), I end up trying something else or get bored of using it.

      I try REALLY hard to keep things limited to notion, but sometimes I use the google task app because I can use it right from my inbox.

    This was very helpful 🎉 and it works great for me and my kids. I am a stay at home writer. I do have a question, if you could maybe do video on it or make a suggestion about coordinating a mixed schedule with your partner. My husband and I have opposite time slots and it makes it rough at times. Thx a bunch you made so many good suggestions 😊😊😊

      @@CarenMagill actually no. I have not tried online planning, I use neon colored note paper to schedule my planning and stick it all over my house😂. My husband on the other hand does calendar planning on his phone. I am willing to try it though, it sounds like a great option 😊. Thank u for the suggestion. FYI, I have tried a lot of your concepts with excellent results and they have actually changed my life.💃🎉

    Thanks 🙏 Going to try this. Do you have any ideas for what to do on days when you have appointments like a Health appointment or a course that takes 2-3 hr of your day? That is something out of the ordinary for me, and I am terrified to be late or forget. Doesn't matter if I have 50 alarms etc, I just cannot do anything else that day! But I would like to. I don't think it's very sustainable to waste 7 hours of my day just for that 30 min doctors appointment.
