    Guys, something to think about:
    3:26.25 is 55.0 per lap (1:50.0 per 800). I cannot emphasize just how big of a psychological barrier this is. Only El G has ever cracked this barrier - not even prime Lagat did.

      That's why HEG is the GOAT in the 1500m and Mile. However, I do think Ingebrigsten is the best 1500m to 5000m runner of all time. He is a top 5 runner all-time in every single event from 1500m to two miles, including a Wprld Record in the 2000m and two mile run. He also has 1500m Olympic Gold Medal, a 1500m Diamond League Title, a Mile Run Diamond League Title, a 3000m Diamond League Title, two 5000m World Championship Titles, and a 5000m Olympic Gold Medal. If he wins a 1500m World Championship Title, he will be the first ever to win a 1500m World Championship, a 5000m World Championship, a 1500m Olympic Gold Medal, and a 5000m Olympic Gold Medal.

    I'm going to be that person and say I'm kind of tired of all the speculation about WR falling with every race. I noticed the commentators at the Olympics stopped talking about WR about 4 days into the T&F events because, guess what, WR don't happen that often. And on a personal note El Guerrouj is my all time favourite athlete and I'm going to be sad the day someone breaks his record. And to answer your question, Jakob will probably win because these kinds of races suit his racing style and current form.

    Exciting for sure. The question is whether Hocker is at all consistent at this new top level. His PB was shattered and blown away in Paris. Judging by his development this season and comments in the interview yesterday, his Olympic win is more than a flash in the pan. Regarding Jakob - simply the best, better than all the rest. Regarding Jakob's interviews in Norwegian, he was simply saying that he has himself to blame for the loss. He felt good, went out a tad too strong, and on this eventful day - hit the wall. Why? Same for Femke Bol. Jakob has raised the 1500 to a new level for the current generation. He loves to race and wants to be pushed. Like everyone else, Jakob cares more about winning than fast times. Still, the WR in the 1500 and mile would be legendary.

    Anyone who has ever run this distance knows how hard it is. No matter if it is paced or not. I'm tired of the seeming criticism Jacob gets for running fast in paced races as if the other guys in the race aren't also being paced. And as Jacob has pointed out, he has "paced" most of the top runners in the world today to their best times ever. No other racer, not Kerr, not Hocker (if one medal puts him in that conversation)...no one else does that. And yes the great El Guerrouj's world record run was paced by two runners.

    Jakob ran three laps very hard to a avoid the kick of Kerr. When he nudged Kerr outside, Hocker took advantage on the rail. it seemed Ingebrigtsen lost concentration The Americans now have confidence. Ingebrigtsen has no choice but to go out fast. The others have too much kick speed. Cole Hocker will have to win consistently. But given his speed, and gold, I'd call Hocker the favorite.

    I think that Jakob was humble after the "loss" of medals in 1500m. Very impressed by the finish of Josh, and he seams like a nice and humble person. Congrats! Kerr by the way needed to express himself again that" he was not surprised" of the medals. This put him back I think in what some would agree to, and a little childish. All of them great athletes. Wish the best for all :)
    Regarding world record, sure there must be several that push each other during the rounds and keep up the round times, and the best in the end can make it :) Maybe they could go together and help each other to brake the record, but I don't think that will happen :) I keep a note on Jakob :)

    Ingebrigtsen finished behind three other guys in a very fast race. The fact that the other 3 guys closed fast was because they had more left in the tank, which tells me they likely could have handled a faster pace. Of the four, which ones have improved the most in the past year?

    • @jkdure
      @jkdure 24 дня назад +4

      a researcher did an analyse of Jakobs run in Paris as a "pacer" he used the tem watt as power (same as used in bicycle races)
      he calculated that the air resistance jakobs faced by running upp front was around 110 watts, by being placed behind a pacer you save 70 - 80%
      The air resistance are reduced to just over 40 watt.
      No wonder they get past ingebrigtsen at the end.
      btw i think it is suspisious when somebody suddently out of the blue gets a 3 sec pb.

    Hocker sat on Jakob at 3:27 pace and kicked for the win. Hocker was blocked and in last 100m had to kick again. His last 200m was really disrupted. Maybe it is possible for Hocker to kick for the win at 3:26 pace? What does Jakob have to do to win… run 3:25 or as others have said maybe Jakob should sit for first 800m then second half squeeze so hard that the other guys can’t kick. What do you think?
