    Thanks Boomer. I've learned more here in half an hour than all the airbrush videos / tutorials I've watched before. Period. Cheers.

    Awesome video and tutorial of finishing up the flat and painting the fence. That was amazing of how the Isopropyl Alcohol reactivated the layers of paint to give it that aged look! The fence turned out awesome as well and I'm going to find that to put near some of my background flats on my layout. Thanks again for sharing your videos with us Boomer along with your PRICELESS time and effort!

    Wow. When you hit the drain pipe with the isopropyl alcohol and the rust came out, that was it for me. That was great. I love your technique. I have learned a lot in just 3 simple videos. Thanks for sharing that. Gotta get some Tamiya paints now.

      Thank You Larry. It`s always exciting when you don`t know what the paint will do when this method is applied. It usually works out pretty good though because you can tone it all down with the air-brush again if one wants.

    I’d seen you use the IPA under pressure trick before when weathering a tank car I believe. This right here was mind boggling. How long after you lay on the undercoat is too long to blast it away like that? Great stuff!

    Nice video, lots of really good stuff....I noticed that your back part of your airbrush is missing, is it so you can adjust the needle easier? .,

      Yes. And to clean it faster. I don't like to waste time when I cycle my airbrush.

    Want to try this on my track work. Do paint the ties and rails first then ballast? Or do you ballast then paint ties rails etc?

    • @boomerdiorama
      @boomerdiorama  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for asking Phil. You can do either or both. I like to "spray-bomb" (rattle-can) the flex track first with Red Oxide or Dark Brown first. Try and clean the top of the rail right away with a solvent rag if you spray bomb with enamel or lacquer. Then, glue the track down. Following this, I ballast, then I come in with very thin Tamiya paint at the end when it is all dry. If the paint is thin it won't build up fast, but rather, blend into the track and ballast in a natural way. Use lots of Isopropyl Alcohol to thin the Tamiya (earth tone) paints. This way, it will go a long ways and blend evenly over the ties and ballast. Don't be afraid to try different shades of earth and brown etc. over different sections of track as well. Cheers. ~ Boomer.

      @@boomerdiorama Thank you taking the time explaining the process. I have gone out and bought selected colours based on your recommendations. Only $5 here in New Zealand. Which is pretty good. Will be keen to try it out on my trackwork now. Just need to ballast it. Phil
