I remember truckin in the middle of the night and sliding in the 8 track tape in and listening to Waylon. I sure miss those days, best time of my life.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't know what I like best, that song, his picking style, the sound of that leather covered Telecaster or his voice! He was definately a musical genius!
Can't Ya see Ole Waylon was and always be the best of pure down-home country, with a voice that was made to move mountains, Since the death of Waylon, nobody has come close to the 3x platinum winning artist, except maybe his friend Travis Tritt. Country hasn't been the same. The Highwaymen was the last of a dying breed. RIP Hoss
Well said man! In my humble opinion, I feel Country actually started dying and really lacking originality back in the 90s. That’s when it started to become fake with artists all starting to sound the same, and singing about the corny heartbreak, love, trucks and beer. At least it wasn’t pop or hip hop related like these days! However, like you said, The Highwaymen were the last of a dying breed of O.G, fun country songs and a tremendous band.
You got that right. Another Elvis was really great both ways. I have always said that about Elvis but not that you mention it great point. Waylon is awesome
Nothing is better than Waylon’s 70s live band sound. Except maybe The Dead in the same period, but honestly Waylon’s guitar and voice is what takes it for me. If only Waylon extended his songs past the 10 min mark, then we’d have perfection.
Hence the moniker "Outlaw"; Chet Atkins required his artist to use studio musicians instead of the concert performing band... so Waylon left Nashville to do his recording elsewhere.
I am a First Nations Man. I first heard this on vinyl In the early 80's when my grandmother would sing this at the top of her lungs. I miss her everyday. So I listen to this. Canadian Native listen to this. Waylon Jennings rest in peace bro. Love this song
That voice.... When i was 15 i had this album on vinyl. A boy from the coast in Sweden listened to a country man and loving it. Im 58 now and it´s still as good and fresh. He is dead but he will be remembered and listening to forever. R.I.P Waylon.
@@treeoflibertydefense8612 No swedish. I learned English from listening to music and in high school 😉 We could also choose a third language. German, Spanish and French. I speak understand German good and can speak "baby German" so Germans understand me (I'm 60 now). The older Germans appreciate that as the seldom know English even if highly educated. Many Swedes choose a language or two I'm college too with their education. I had 3 years of English, German and Swedish to my 3 year of economy in college before University
I greatly miss Waylon and his style of music. I grew up listening to his music. He actually knew how to play the Fender telecaster guitar. An outlaw he truly was. 👍🫶🇺🇲
Rebel, outlaw 🥰call him what you may but a man who sang country from the heart .Love all Waylon songs and he just kept on getting better and better over time !
i was born in 1974..even though i was a kid through the 70`s this style really impacted me. even in the early 80`s this style was still around. remember dukes of hazzard. the cowboy hats, belt buckles, cb radios, real men and real women back then. its stuck with me all these years.
One of the things I don't think is mentioned enough was brought up by my dad once, who is a long time Waylon Jennings fan: the Waylors. They were a hell of a band...and contributed greatly to Waylon's success and sound. The star has to have a strong supporting cast...
Great version of this song. Waylon I think is the best country performer ever. Got to see him quite a number of times at his concerts for this I feel very lucky. R.I.P miss you a lot still listen to you all the time. There will be another like Ol' Waylon
the best to ever do it. George Jones, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson all 1 generation. Amazing. And yes I am missing a few great ones.
Excellent cover Waylon & his band played live but song writer & singer Toy Caldwell with Marshall Tucker live performances I've seen --- all of them --- blow this one away!
My beautiful wife is from Florida. Went there to get her things out of storage. On the way back to South Carolina, I myself stopped and took a piss at the Florida-Georgia line. That was 10 years ago, it did feel like an epic piss at the time, now I know why.
He sure was the best ever . I sure do miss him. R.I.P. Say Hi to my brother Wayne for me because of him that how I fell for your music . He got me your record for me at Christmas so many years ago.
Thank you for this great performance! It’s hard to believe that Waylon and Jessi were raising his 5 children, and Jessi’s daughter at this point - three of whom were teens!
Waylon does GREAT covers. He was basically a cover band at that club in AZ or NM where he really started the road back from Buddy's death. Booker T & the MGs were a working wedding/affairs total cover band until the records got big enuff!!
I remember truckin in the middle of the night and sliding in the 8 track tape in and listening to Waylon. I sure miss those days, best time of my life.
I currently do that now but it’s not an 8 track!!
The highway, the desert, Waylons music all moves like a fine dance.
I'd go back to those days right now if I could!!!!
@@charlesrivers2309ciao Charles!🙋😍😘💘🌅
Good man
That SOUND, that telecaster, his picking , the voice and swagger, nothing then or now compares to Ol Waylon!
U got that right!
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I don't know what I like best, that song, his picking style, the sound of that leather covered Telecaster or his voice! He was definately a musical genius!
no sir. Waylon is by far a legend.
Toy caldwell's the original and by far the best, but dam Waylon does it justice
and the bell bottoms !!!!!!!!!
Neighbor called the law on me for playing Waylon too loud. Cops hauled him off...
The best part of most live Waylon videos is the healthy dose of Ralph Mooney that you also get. Double blessed.
Moon is the best. Great band.

Ol Waylon....One of the few performers who sounded as good live as he did on recordings....

Much better live

There has to be a movie or miniseries on this man's life.
Think I'll get back to Waylon and Johnny and Merle and the Hanks. Music I grew up on.
