Yes, a 16-piece band. Apparently too difficult to maintain financially. But so brilliant. I just wish every minute of all their shows would be released.
LOVE the song and the performance with Gilmour. And even though this is 33 years old, I just fell in love with the female backing singer on the right. Holy shit, she's fucking GORGEOUS
@@lordhoho1 I can't say with authority it's not him, but Rockpalastarchiv (DOTde slash concert slash pete)and any and all references to this show I can find only credit the Kick Horns. I just updated it to correct a couple name spellings.
They're deceptively tricky lyrics. I don't think any of his live performances of this song have had the same lyrics as the album or the same lyrics as any of the *other* live performances.
I seen the Who in 1979 at MSG in NYC. First concerts in the states after Keith Moons death. They held a raffle to get tickets. I luckily got tickets. They played 5 nights, my tickets were in the last row on the last night. 11 dollars a piece

***** yes. the crowd was horrible as usual tho in our city haha. all just standing there most of the time as if they were watching a bad comedy routine.
Love the lineup here. Gilmour on guitar.... the drummer looks really familiar, but I can't place the name.... and is that Sax player, on the left, the one who has played on like every Billy Joel album?
@@derekspitz9225 but you named her along with the rest of the band along with David Gilmour who all appear in the video and you said what a band as if she's here
My roommate in college was an ULTRA who fan and absolutely idolized townsend. He owned what seemed about 50 of their albums and bootlegs. When I realized Empty Glass had a few homosexual songs, I told him and he freaked out. Never like my roommate and his superiority complex...I'm glad I ruined his rock & roll fantasy. Anyway, incredible songs/recording - so powerful and raw.
Is the name, Deep End, a joke? I'm really getting a sense he struggled with urges or inclinations, tendencies maybe that though felt natural to him (regarding his sexuality), the outside word would likely oppose. I've seen a few live performances of this song and it's the first time I looked at him alone, as opposed to with The Who. He most definitely is a MEGA talent, a force and source of power! Intriguing and intrigued, he captivates me, on several levels. The nuances are subtle. I think he's always had to hide, and maybe feel(s) uncertain about his sexually. What about referring to himself as a woman? Why did he say that!? I just remembered that part.
This kicks ass like hell, I used to blast this on my car stereo back in the 80s, nice to drive but deafinitely not 55! 😜😜😜😜
This song is an absolute blast.
I don't care what other people think about the song......Pete Townshend wrote and rocks this jam
The best!!!
I was 12 when it came out and still think it's his COOLEST SONG.
Classic rock!
This song sounds great Pete Townsend is the who
Peter Townshend ...the GOAT!!!!
That just blew my rock fuse man, Holy smokes. Don't hear stuff like that anymore. Wow.
The master of chord progressions!
Loved this song from high school 1980🥰
Great song & year / classic
💕 Love 80’s Pete!
Holy Hell what a performance by all....
Great solo career. Wish he would do another album.
Townshend is a genius. Most people who hear this song don't understand it. Because they aren't very bright.
Wow, spectacular, thanks
Pete
An amazing complicated man and artist
David Gilmour, Simon Phillips, David Sanborn...who am I missing in this all-star band?
Yes, a 16-piece band. Apparently too difficult to maintain financially. But so brilliant. I just wish every minute of all their shows would be released.
......thanks for everything Pete.
Man I can’t get enough of how that bass drum comes in harder at 4:18 🤘🏻
I think that's ringo stars son, can't get a good look at em
@@daviduruski7848 No, it's Simon Phillips.
The backup singers are great 😀
looking
David Gilmour on guitar, Simon Phillips on drums!
Exactly! Is that truly David Gilmore on rythm guitar? If not it's his doppelganger! Lol
It's him. David and Pete are good friends.
Yep. Gilmour co-wrote “White City Fighting” and played on that and “Give Blood” on the album that led to this all-star band, White City.
He's on lead guitar actually. Pete Townshend is on rhythm guitar.
Most music was crap when this album came out. It was refreshing. Love you Pete

Completely agree. Maybe we'd find her slightly less hot today, but that day she was a killer, man.

LOVE that he has black female backup singers and a little horn section. Perfect combo.
As GenX here, when this was fresh release on MTV, we did not think twice about skin color, talent, and sound. Bless you.
