I recently went through a family loss. This Fleet Foxes song expressed what I was feeling at he time and still moves me each time I hear it. I've always liked the Fleet Foxes. This song is so simple yet so beautiful. Thank you for the post.

The song is in the key of A. The D chord is the "four" chord, on which the endings of the lyric phrases hang. At about the two-minute mark, it modulates to the key of C major, with the F maj. 7 (with the ringing open high E string) as the four chord, and then it goes back to A. The song starts out very simply, with a commonplace folk song usage of the A, E, and D chords, but Robin's genius come to the fore around the one-and-a-half minute mark, when he sings the same vocal phrase, but alters the chords. Robin has said in an interview that he has been listening to the French composer Maurice Ravel, and I think there is an indication of that influence in this song.
Are all of CBS's musical performances this intimate? This is great, but I would have thought a show like This Morning would come across like an Ellen show. I'm unfamiliar with their format.
Best vocalist/instrumentalist of the past 10 years.
Amen Dunes.
So simple and moving. The music just speaks for itself.
The sincerity of his performance, it's all in the eyes
Not sure if it’s fully appropriate but I will slow dance to this at my wedding because it’s beautiful and perfection
Possibly the most simplest and minimalist song from the album, but so touching and deep, and the performance is just so beautiful.

I love this band so so so so so much
One of my favorite bands easily. Amazing...
Without a doubt my favorite song on the new album. Just amazing.
this song is just so beautiful and pure
That reverb though
Not a fan - poor choice imo.
@@broken1394 You guys reply to my 5 year old comment. It's like a personal time capsule for me lol thank you for that 😁
@@cameronpeterson6734 We could say that your comment still reverbs to this day:)

absolutely fantastic - good to have you back Robin!
Man, I’m so glad they came back
Played once a day for a week so far. And I don't do that sort of thing. A real haunter!
Good lord. Amazing feels... FF Forever
That time Robin played a song about the fall of America on an American morning show.
"Who knows what state is in store" is particularly chilling now
epic arrangement
September 2018: This does not need a sophisticated description: It's simply beautiful.
Robin's gonna make some bad girl very happy someday
Why a bad girl?
A lot of girls very unhappy seems more likely :D

😂
this video makes my ovaries tingle
This sounds like something off Young's "Tonight's the Night"
Chris Waterkotte you're so right! What a lovely comparison
Such a pleasant voice, anyone know what tuning this is played in ?
blake showalterbaugh This is in standard tuning
It's actually drop D. Not sure if the album is in standard though. I play it in standard myself.
Wow. Not much more to say beyond that.
Wish this had more reverb
One person has no soul 😍
Found this song watching "This Is Us"
ı think, after listening this song john mayer composed the song "last train running" a good example of inspiration
That’s awful. TMI
I wonder what tuning is that.
drop D. not sure why he did it. most likely because the song is primarily in the key of D so he can get that deep rich sound out of the D chord.

Wow.
Gorgeous ah
Reverb
he's playing a normal D, so are just the lower 3 strings tuned differently? the fingerings of the A and E are so weird
Only the low E string is differnet and is tuned down to a D
J25251000 and he plays a regular C at the bridge
Fleet Foxes have their own style that much, that their songs are imposible to play on guitar
lol no. he just uses different tunings
Wow I had no idea Joel Olstein was so musically talented...

;)
I wish the piano was EQed a bit to stand out from the guitar.
Anyone else notice his big package? 👀
Bruh
Neil Young.
They are very reminicent of Simon and Garfunkel to me.
i hate this song
