boybiggy, you are lucky that you were able to replace those fuel filters with just basic tools. And was nice enough to take the time out to share. Most places want $250.00+ for doing this. The Tesla battery replacement was a joke. They want well over $35,000.00. If you take your time, like you boybiggy, you can do it for much less.
Concerning he reinstallation of the low pressure filter on the regulator...my problem was not realizing that the O-ring seats BEFORE the threads engage....this means that you do not rotate the canister until the O-ring has been pushed up into its sealing surface. You do this be simply pushing the canister into the regulator while it is squared up. The O-ring will seat on the sealing surface within a short distance (maybe 1/8" - 3/16"), then you can start rotating it to engage the threads. If you rotate too early, the O-Ring pops out of it's groove and then you'll never get it on. It took me a long time to figure this out because it feels identical to how it does when your starting fine threads when the O-ring first starts hitting.
You can get the O-ring at the local industrial seal supply company or online for $4.98 ea. www.theoringstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=22817
The fuel guage blinking light is the gas cap door spring push button BUT not the obvious one that keeps it closed towards the rear end of the opening that you see easily and push in and out with your finger. It is the one that is the same type of push button but on the inner hinged edge of the gas door. You can see this by kneeling down and looking into the edge area. If you start the car and open the gas cap lid and while watching it blink you can push this button in and it will stop flashing! The easiest fix is the get a spare valve stem plastic screw top and drip a few drops of super glue into the inside of it and just fit it over the push button. The plastic valve cap is strong enough to handle the openings and closings of the gas cap lid and it fits perfectly over the button to give that extra bit of length to allow the flashing light to tune off which means 'the lid is closed' It is that easy.
Great video, thanks for posting this. Not sure if it applies to your 09 but on my 07 the flashing lights on the fuel gauge was caused by the switch not making enough contact and is not engaging. I added an extension on the switch (like a cap) and now it is fully depressed. After that it finally fixed the flashing light issue, hope this works out on your 09 as well.
After performing the service, the fuel gauge flashes not because the fuel door is open but because the valve is shut off and the ECU needs to be reset. This usually happens after 15 minutes of shutting off the valve. Is there a procedure for resetting the ECU or getting the gauge to stop flashing?
Make sure you clean the outer canister removing all oil and dirt. If for some resin your o-rings have expanded put them on the canister and cool it down (put it in the rig etc.) so the o-ring shrinks a bit before trying to put it back in place. That's what I'm assuming your talking about? Let me know if it's a different issue and I will try to help.
I'm having a similar problem - I can get the cylinder on without the washer, but when I try it with it just won't catch the threads...I put it in the fridge and still no luck any other ideas out there?
Do you think CNG car easy maintain than gasoline car? I am thinking to buy the used CNG car if easy to maintain. Beside high pressure filter is there anything else I need to know about CNG car for maintenance? Please advise meThank you
Did uou ever fix the flashing fuel gauge? I recently bought a 2009 civic GX with the flashing fuel light too, i tried to manaully press the fuel door/cap button with no luck. i hope the problem is not worse.
i also have an 09 civic. not the gx just an ex , never seen the fuel gauge blink, i'm almost at 140k miles and never replaced it. lol . previous owner has so i'm sure i'll have to eventually . bookmarked :P
How many miles does your gx have on it, how long have you owned it, and at what mileage have you changed the low and high fuel filters? cngchat has a good forum too you can post questions like these and get answers
IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Had a 2008 Honda Civic GX with 122K with same problem (Flashing Gas Gauge). Before putting ANY money into anything else. There's a fuel door push sensor. The flashing indicates that the fuel door is open. Try simply pushing that sensor all the way down to see if it stops flashing of fuel gauge. The sensor is located in the left back where the hinge on the fuel door pushes against. Save yourself the money and please try this!!!!

Yes we are talking about the same front filter.. I will try that tonight
Good job on the video. Your's is the best one on RUclips so far.
Check the fuel door, or the fuel door sensor.

Thanks c2sox that worked! That is what it was? Some how the fuel door was not depressing the switch.

I'm having trouble getting the low pressure canister back on.. It has those 2 o-rings.. How did you get the o-ring to slide in while putting back on?

I had to tow it to dealer.. i could not get it on...i tried everything. . the tech did it in 2 seconds. .
I think its the angle of being on the lift and having the correct leverage
Thanks for the awesome quick response...a few more tries and then I think I'll need to tow as well. Thanks again

Does anyone know how close this procedure is to the 2014 Honda Civic? I can't find a guide for the 2014 anywhere
Procedures are the same for all CNG Civics from 2006 - 2015.
Video helped alot! Thanks
