I am the proud owner of that Les Paul Custom Kim is playing here. Had a chance to meet him and reacquaint him with the guitar a couple of years back. Still my favorite band of all time.
🥰 GREAT 👍👍👍👍👍
When I worked with them, he offered me that Ibanez Destroyer for $250.
I was an idiot, and passed.
@@wjbiii Wow ! Id rather have a Simmonds guitar than a Richards or Clapton guitar
Gas- Did he want it back?
@@ronnyrono782 No. Though he had good memories, Kim has never dwelt in the past. It was a cool hang and he was so nice and generous with his time. I still have the guitar and love it.
Rock In Peace - Kim, you lived the true British Blues Life.
I remember my high school days. SAVOY BROWN ROCKS !!!
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Duane Allman, Jeff Beck, Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson and Kim Simmonds - take your pick - love 'em all!
like the call out to Blind Owl.
And the late Rory Gallagher.
Jimi and Jeff number 1 and 2 of my top 100 guitarist.
They are all good for sure and they're are many others as well.

Awesome guitarist, RIP Kim Simmonds
He is still playing I believe.
@@dlsmpsn In Heaven
great band still listen at 72
Same here at 63
Live footage of Savoy Brown seems pretty rare or nonexistent, especially early 70's stuff. Although this is late 80's, I appreciate whoever posted this, really enjoyed it.
I posted and shot it.
Th.nk. You.
Te n. Years after I'm
Yeñ years after
Such an under rated Guitar Player.
I first saw Savoy Brown in 1969 at The Dome in Brighton, UK.
They were supporting some band called Jethro Tull.
Happy days! 😊
At least I got to see Savoy Brown back in 1973 they were much better back than. Rest in Peace Kim Simmons. You were one of the best guitarist.
So did I.Taste and Try before you buy was my favourite
@@davidwilliams7397awesome thanks for your comment
"Street Corner Talking", "Hellbound Train"...RIP Kim❤
Played Hellbound Train yesterday.love it.
Absolutely Wonderiffic Welsh Band ! We keep producing them!
Blue Matter is my favorite album From the group
Savoy Brown.
make me sweat ...legendary
One of my favorite guitarists
Walkin and Talking off skin and bone
Jimmie Dagnesi on bass and his wife Tina, are our dear friends. He has his own band called Bad Juju now.
First saw Savoy Brown around 1973 and they opened with 'Let It Rock'( to your very soul).Saw them again at the Bottom Line in NYC, a couple of times, in the 80s. They played a scorchin' rocker called 'Tear Me Apart ', which is a Tanya Tucker cover! Kim Simmonds is as good as a guitarist ever gets and his slide-work is pretty much untouchable. His edgy, raw and raucous riffing on 'Needle And Spoon' from Raw Sienna will give you chills. The man was a 💙 Blues master. Won't see the likes of him again...
I played w several local bands,i warmed up for the amazing Welsh gunslinger one night.....wil never firget,,have the bootleg from the show
Me and Kim were friends for years,I like him am half Welsh, loved that Welsh Tornado on that Les Paul o.his.,.....one of the best, and most underated guitar players .....Pete Townsend, many of the big boys ...Love Kim and his blues band
Incredible guitar player..seems really chill…wicked guitar tone
One of my all-time favorite bands
Thanks. Sounds great of course! I used to see them back in the Chris Youlden era at the good ol' Fillmore East, where they unfailingly crushed it. Here Kim looks like he's aged half of the 20 years since those days.
Holy shit that guitar player is great.
Savoy Brown love TAKE it easy baby
This was a great lineup for Kim Simmons and Savoy Brown especially with Dave Walker on vocals.....I had spoken with Kim in 93- 94 when he came into town at that time with Pete McMahon on vocals and harmonica... and kim had said that he lost track of Dave Walker and couldnt find him...... kind of a bummer... There's a CD out called"" live and kicking"" with these musicians... It's definitely worth buying!!!!
@@58bluto ....wow...interesting...so the ax bricklayer headed to Montana!!!.. I love the Dave Walker days for sure and I believe he came from Chicken shack and I haven't heard anything from Chicken shack with him on vocals I'll have to check that out
Live and Kicking actually has a different lineup: Kim Simmonds - guitar, Dave Walker - vocs, Pete Mendillo - drums, Lou Kaplan - bass, Rick Jewett - keys.
1o29.1/=+
My all time favorite band
yes, but: why always: "fucking" (dave walker). thats NOT necessary !!!! see o. osbourne. i hate it. but: the music is excellent, no question
KIM! my all time go to see have a great time band!
very nice video!!!!!
Thanks for posting! I’ve been looking for the older Savoy Brown and there is very little
RIP KIM SIMMONDS.
Was introduced to SB in 86 with a copy of Lion's Share and Street Corner Talking. Loved their sound immediately.
Since then I have accumulated just about every album they have put out, whether on vinyl or CD. I have also ventured into the solo careers of Jackie Lynton, Chris Youlden, and of course Dave Walker.
Dave Walker is my personal choice for their best vocalist and loved watching this clip.
A great , great band, my favorite, pure rock and blues !!
I love seeing videos like this of somewhat forgotten bands. Savoy Brown was one of the best guitar-driven bands of my youth. This video is a real treat!
With Kim Simmonds & Dave Walker were Jim Dagnesi (bass) & Al Macomber (drums). Tyvm for having shared this canadian gig.
Dave Walker! I saw this line up in Switzerland around the same year.
Amazing gig
So did I .Me & 6 other people .They didn't care they still kicked ass I've loved them ever since then.
2021 and gone midnite with a bottle red.....nveremind the beers of a chill out .....lets go !
thanks upload I have all Savoy browns albums yes albums....great band with Kim
I was married at 18 left home hello rocking roll❤🎉😊❤🎉
My favorite all time band. I have 26 albums of Savoy Band. Hardest to find, Jack The Toad. Never had the pleasure to see them live. All most saw them in Charleston SC. Kim was sick so I traveled back home. RIP Kim
what memories this brings back. One guitarist holding it all together, live without a net. Glorious. Kim was a member of a small cadre of true guitar frontmen that could pull it off. His peers are Pat Travers, Billy Gibbons, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robin Trower, Jimi. While each is distinctive and unique, they all share a common melodic thread and they were each arguably better live than on record.
Tell Mamma best tune here. Closest to what they did in the early 70s.
The best of both
styles British & American
Blues.
Dave Walker looks and sounds great here😊👍🙂♥️

WOW, this video is waaay to short, but I still loved it.
Excelente banda
Always good
do you know ray wallace?
Nothing like the blues...
The last time I saw Kim Simmons was at Yoshi's club in Oakland. He said that he was having trouble lifting that huge instrument of his with the onset of age, and sadly I learned of his death just a few years later. I felt so glad and so privileged to have seen him in person that night. What a show it was, and such a pleasure to see Simmons up there with his Les Paul and a great band behind him, all amazing musicians in their own right. The footage is a bit rough of this much earlier concert but the audio is just fine, and that's what's important. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!
YOU TUBE ! ! THANKS FOR BRINGING UP THIS SHOW ! ! , "THIS" IS A REAL BLESSING ! I Mean to SEE KIM at His early age , And NOTICE ! NO MISTAKES AT ALL ! ! ! ! , AND WHAT AN EXPERIENCE TO SEE DAVE WALKER ! ! A. SUPER SHOW MAN ! WE LOVE YOU , YOU TUBE FOR BRINGING THIS BACK ! ! ! ! Good set but I would have been sorely disappointed that they didn't play, A Ring in His Nose.
best blues ever!
I was actually expecting a horrible mix but this is pretty good

It’s not mr down child but still defeats 90 percent of all rock blues with just the name savoy brown
And Kim leads
I saw Savoy Brown in the late 90's in a North Carolina club. They were absolutely awful! One of the biggest letdowns in a band i ever experienced. They showed up for a paycheck that night. Nothing else.
Everyone has bad days.
Sorry to hear that. I saw them on nine different occasions threw the years,it was always a good show. God bless Rock on 🙏🎶🎵❗👀
What happened to Dave Walker ? Is this Dave Walker ? Same Dave Walker that was called up to front the Sabbath album "Never Say Die" ?
Yes
Look up 11th and Grant with Dave walker, good show
Kim Simmonds badly under rated among guitarists.
Not where I come from. Savoy Brown comes to Denver quite often. The real blues fans are well aware of Kim Simmonds. 🙏🎵🎶❗👀 Rock on and on!
@@gtrjay55Not underrated to his fans.
Still ,when I play their music, people ask, Who's the guitar player ?
I've turned on a lot of people on to the band .
Where was this gig?
Molson Park in Canada. Savoy Brown, James Cotton Blues Band, Ten Years After and The Gregg Allman Band
@@scottcantor3002 what a great day!
Is he very short?
5'8" a stocky weshman as he got a wee bit older
Dont see roger earl!!!!!
WTF? That's a Kim Simmons look alike
No. It’s Savoy Brown.
The intro guy tries a little too hard to hype the crowd methinks.
This is so good !!! I'm wish Dave Walker would have not marred it with his dirty mouth. Oh well 🙏😷🎵🎶🎸☕❗👀
No chemistry. Guitarist is just playing with himself. Shame. It's like having all the ingredients and vying for the shit sandwich. Brilliant combo of talent though.
He's better than Jeff Beck...trust me
Jeff is number one. I'm sure Kim would have agreed.
Awful Singing and cursing
I wouldn't say awful but his voice certainly had deteriorated from the early 70s and Street CT, HB Train, etc. Kim's guitar is very crisp, still the era of larger venues when he could travel with the big Marshall cabinets.
tell us your utube uplaod of your singing song writing then your band is called?....your that fucking special?
@@stevemccooleq Simmons sounds better now playing through combo amps anyway ruclips.net/video/AeBF7vF5LjY/видео.html
