I have watched almost all of your Vietnam series since we are leaving in the next couple days for two weeks. Love your coverage. Watching you cross the street though gives me anxiety.....not looking forward to that experience lol. Thanks for making great content!!!
Glad you enjoyed SG. Although Ben Thanh market is famous, but not a place to buy things. Their prices are much higher than other places. When buy things from small vendors, always bargain with the price. You can start at as low as half of what they tell you, especially you're a foreigner. Another thing is I noticed you go into the coffee shop and the banh mi shop where there were no other customers. You should look for places with lots of local customers. That is a sign of good food.
Thanks for the tips! We were able to bargain fairly well once we got the hang of it! We went to the cafe because we saw it online and it looked very good. For the restaurant, it was delicious! It was full by the time we left. We were just lucky to get there first! 🤗 Thanks for watching! 🥰🥰
How absolutely wonderful, watching your videos makes me want to go back to Vietnam again, i was there in april. I had the best time and that coffee shop you guys went to at 3:25 is the same one i went to on my last day in vietnam.. you've got a new subscriber from me too
Thank you so much! 🤗🥰 We’re really happy you enjoyed it. Vietnam is an amazing place! We have absolutely loved our time here. Soo Cafe was such a vibe right?! But to be honest, so are all of the cafes in Vietnam! We went from not being huge coffee drinkers to LOVING coffee here! We’re really happy you found our channel and so happy to have you along on our journey! Thanks for your support and we can’t wait to share more with you. ☺️🙏
I haven't been back to Vietnam since 2013 which is a pretty long time, still amazed how much the country has changed from the time I was there last, I had so many banh mi while I was there, I practically lost count how many I had and what I had in them, I was lucky enough to have a husband and wife vendor that sold banh mi right in front of my hotel where I stayed at in District 4, literally a 2 minute walk - I couldn't thank them enough for their hospitality, it was so sad to leave but the memories will forever be etched in my thoughts, I met some incredible people on my journey in Vietnam, absolutely friendly - was surprised they understood my westernized Australian Vietnamese accent, I'm glad I found your channel. I look forward seeing what you guys got up to in Vietnam PS I do have a video on here on what I got upto in Vietnam but it's on my friends youtube channel..

I did eventually bargain them down. It was quite funny too. But, Ashley had walked away with the camera and $$ so I wasn’t able to buy OR catch it on film. Next time!

Thank you so much! It’s such an incredible city. We had a great time and can’t wait to return someday (hopefully soon.) ☺️ We have at least one more vlog coming out in a few days from our time there! Thanks for watching. 🥰🥰
You're taking good pictures of the places you're visiting. Bravo! You go to Ben Thanh Market and buy something there, you must be careful because the prices are much, much higher than in other places.
Is it safe to go there alone? Or should I just get the klook tour to go there to enjoy the street food at night? But wow that street looks so pretty and colorful. Not a party goer hehe might just enjoy the night lights and foods there. Hehe
I (Ashley) never felt unsafe, but I’m also always with Mike. I would suggest getting a Grab to and from Bui Vien. Walking along the main drag should be fine because there were always many other people around, and it was well-lit from what I can recall. Practice general rules of safety and you’ll probably be fine. Have fun! 🥰
Good lawd, $18 for a plain black tee. 😂😂 I find that shopping in markets like that are rarely worth. The prices are just so absurd. No one comes to SE Asia to may 3x4 times the price for an item they could get back home. Looks like you guys had a blast in HCM! I can't believe we never made it there, in a freakin YEAR of living on Vietnam. Next time for sure! Egg Coffee is a Northern thing for sure, so maybe that explains why that one looked so odd. Whenever we had it in Hanoi, it always had a THICC meringue topping. Even after mixing, it was super sweet. I'm sure you guys had tried it that way later. Man, I miss Vietnamese coffee! You guys are making us miss Vietnam so such. Can't wait til' the day we can finally go back. Another great video, guys! Nice B-roll, good flow. A++! Can't wait for the next one. 😁
I know right! 😅😂 I ended up talking them down, but Ashley walked away with the camera and our $$ so by the time I caught up there was nothing I could do! We LOVED it! 10/10 can recommend! And yes, we have our fair share of egg coffee on this adventure. It was always delicious! And we feel you! Editing the footage is making us miss it so badly and we were just there! Seriously considering going back to explore more of the north, especially now that they are changing the visa length to 90 days! Thanks so much for the feedback and all your support. We really appreciate it as always! 🥰🤗

6:11: They number the tree trunks to better manage them. As long as a tree is found to have signs of decay or disease, the city's urban environment management agency will come to treat and take care of that tree. In other words, each number is an identifier for that tree. That's folk
If you like Banh Mi and happen to be in Hoi An, try Madam Khanh banh mi. There should be two popular banh mi spots in Hoi An. One is Madam Khanh (queen of banh mi) and the other one is Phuong banh mi. The locals are more likely go to madam Khanh.
I really like your video. If possible, go to the Central Highlands, specifically Gia Lai, the paradise of waterfalls and craters. There are also many beautiful cafes to visit. You can google for pictures of Gia Lai before deciding to visit with the keywords like "k50 waterfall", "chư đăng ya", "sea lake Pleiku" .etc
Thank you so much! We aren’t able to visit this time around, but we’re hoping to be able to explore more once they extend the visa in August! We love Vietnam so much and want to see as much of it as we possibly can! Thank you for the recommendations, we’ll add it to our list of places to go!

Hey guys. Really love your videos. We are following your itinerary to the dot, currently in Vietnam. (Did G9, Charm, Soo Kafe etc 😊). Was curious to know why didn’t you guys choose to do Mekong Delta? Is it worth it / why or why not? 👍
Oh wow! That's awesome. Happy we could inspire you in your travel choices! 🤗 We have only heard wonderful things about the Mekong Delta. We chose to skip it because we only had thirty days in the country and were trying to fit in HCMC to Hanoi, along with days to sit back and edit our vlogs and get work done, so we had to be a bit picky about what we were able to do. If given more time in southern Vietnam (like we hope to have very soon) we will absolutely love to explore the Mekong Delta. There wasn't one place in Vietnam we regret exploring, and I have to imagine the delta is just the same. We hope you enjoy your trip, and please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions. Instagram is a great place to connect with us directly: @mikeandashleytravel. Have a great day and thanks for watching!
Tree trunks are typically painted white to deter pests from entering through small openings and to protect against sunscald. The "numbered" trees can have two interpretations: it may indicate a governmental effort to control tree planting rates and promote afforestation, or it could signify trees designated for removal to accommodate road expansion.
About crossing the street: The trick is you HAVE TO wait for the green man duration to be long enough for your whole crossing. So, if needed, wait for the next turn. Don't cross the street in a middle session of green-turning-red :))
Ah, that makes sense! The first time, there was no time indicator, just a little green man that turned red halfway through crossing! 😅😬 We’re still alive though today, so we’ve must have figured it out for now! 🤞 Thanks for the tip. 🤗

Depends on what you want to buy where you stay. The best way is to ask the locals. I usually ask the people at my hotel.

That banh mi with grilled pork looks so good, and they also put the whole piece, nice one 👌💯
It was amazing. Still one of the best banh mi I've ever had.
@@mikeandashley There are so many different styles of banh mi, with fish, meatballs, grilled meat, salami, you name it
I know! It’s wild. You could have so many different banh mi, a new one everyday!
Chào mừng các bạn đã đến thăm Việt Nam chúng toi
Thank you! ☺️

Oh is that what it was?! So cool! We also have flying squirrel in Alaska, but they are much smaller. ✈️🐿️🥰 Thanks for watching! ✌️
flying squirrel That you see !
So cool! 🤗
" Thit heo quay " means roasted pork. Don't forget to try " banh cuon " , the steamed rolls stuffed with chopped meat and mushrooms. Wishing you safe travels.
Thanks for the tip! We love steamed buns. ☺️
Welcome to my homecity 😊
Thank you so much! It’s such an incredible city. We had a great time and can’t wait to return someday (hopefully soon.) ☺️ We have at least one more vlog coming out in a few days from our time there! Thanks for watching. 🥰🥰
yes, It is very expensive when you bought them at Ben Thanh market
We noticed! You can barter which is nice though!
You're taking good pictures of the places you're visiting. Bravo!
You go to Ben Thanh Market and buy something there, you must be careful because the prices are much, much higher than in other places.
Thank you! ☺️ And yes! Ben Thanh market was a bit pricier than other markets we’ve visited, but it was a good experience. ☺️
I was just there a month ago and already missi it. You guys should visit Bali if you haven't. It's absolutely georgous there.
Same! And we will actually be releasing a Bali series shortly after our Vietnam series! ☺️🤫🤗
Chào mừng bạn đến vietnam chúc ban trãi nghiẹm vui vẽ❤

Chúc các bạn có một một chuyến đi vui vẻ
We had a great time! Vietnam is such an incredible country. We can’t wait to return!
Tự hào là người VIETNAM ❤
🥰🥰🤗🤗
Is it safe to go there alone? Or should I just get the klook tour to go there to enjoy the street food at night?
But wow that street looks so pretty and colorful. Not a party goer hehe might just enjoy the night lights and foods there. Hehe
I (Ashley) never felt unsafe, but I’m also always with Mike. I would suggest getting a Grab to and from Bui Vien. Walking along the main drag should be fine because there were always many other people around, and it was well-lit from what I can recall. Practice general rules of safety and you’ll probably be fine. Have fun! 🥰
Hi mike & ashley welcome
Thanks so much! 🥰❤️
@@mikeandashley Do you find Vietnamese food delicious?
So delicious! Some of our favorite cuisine. 😋
@@mikeandashley 🏆🏆
☺️☺️
Good lawd, $18 for a plain black tee. 😂😂
I find that shopping in markets like that are rarely worth.
Moving with my family to HCMC in 6 weeks after 8 years in the middle east. Even though I've visited the city before, your video has got me very excited.good work guys

6:11: They number the tree trunks to better manage them. As long as a tree is found to have signs of decay or disease, the city's urban environment management agency will come to treat and take care of that tree. In other words, each number is an identifier for that tree. That's folk
That makes sense! We’d never seen that before. How smart.
Welcome to Vietnam. Now I'm craving for banh mi fr lol
Haha, I’m glad we could assist! We LOVE banh mi!
im really enjoying your vietnam vlogs, definitely going to binge through them 😂❤
Your comment made our day! We're so glad you're enjoying the videos. 🥰
Oh awesome! We do LOVE Bánh Mi! Thanks so much for the recommendations! ☺️☺️
@@mikeandashley Yeah. I'm watching all of your journeys in Vietnam, they're very interesting. Thank you for your visit, wish you all the best and enjoy life.
Glad you’re enjoying them! We have many more vlogs to come out. But we’ll take any recommendations you have for when we have more time to explore more! Thanks for watching. ☺️🙏
Come to Quy Nhon coastal city, it's the most beautiful and cheapest coastal city

12:41 Craving a Banh mi after watching your video guys!
Haha, thanks! I'm almost always craving a banh mi. And charm bakery had one of the best! I kind of want to go back to Vietnam and just do a huge tour to find the best banh mi in the whole country! 🥖🥖🥖🥖
We have only heard wonderful things about the Mekong Delta.
Welcome to Vietnam!

thanks you MIke vs Ashley i love you gogogo

Tree trunks are typically painted white to deter pests from entering through small openings and to protect against sunscald. The "numbered" trees can have two interpretations: it may indicate a governmental effort to control tree planting rates and promote afforestation, or it could signify trees designated for removal to accommodate road expansion.
That makes sense! So well organized! 🌳🌲
About crossing the street:
The trick is you HAVE TO wait for the green man duration to be long enough for your whole crossing.
Cà phê thì luôn ngon ...
We agree! 🤗☕
Wellcome to HỒ CHÍ MINH CITY
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️🤗🤗🥰🥰
the only reason I can think about numbering the trees is they can keep track of which ones need attention? so, they can find it easily?
That makes sense.
so cool seeing places i walked pass 2 weeks ago in Ho Chi Minh city in your video. Wish i had tried that Banh Mi in Charm bakery and checked out that walking street on my last day/ night there.
Ah! That’s so awesome. 🤗 We’re glad we could help you relive the moments! Yea, we were glad to check out Ho Thi Ky. It was 100% worth it! Such a vibe. Thanks for watching and saying “Hi!” ✌️☺️
