Good video Jon, I've used Rain-X for years, I'll wait while the groans subside, and have never had a problem. I do make sure the wiper blades are clean, ie no more black marks coming off when you wipe them off with a paper towel and then treat the screen and the blades! I also add a good slug of their screen wash along with my usual screen wash so the screen gets topped up as you wash & wipe. Clean screen, no smears, easier bug removal and over 60 mph you don't always need your wipers on, as the water streams off before the wipers can get ot it! I have used the Glaco scrren cleaner and it works really well. I aslo applied Fuso light on my son's silver Audi, wow that stuff's good as well. Keep up the good work.

This is one of my favourite detailing products so far. Applied it two years ago and there is still good hydrofobic effect on my windscreen some 40k km later. Also the glass is very easy to clean. Much better visibility in rain, wiper blades work smoothly, no visible streaks etc. Prior installing I did use Sonax glass polishing compound and felt pad + pressed hard with rotary polisher for 30 minutes, so the product had some fresh clean surface to adhere to. Maybe it's the reason why it has lasted so long. Or could be that Gyeon wet coat acts like a booster for it, even i try not to spray it onto the windshield when I'm using it. Anyway great product, i was thinking i will polish the windshield and reapply it soon.

    • @torrid94
      @torrid94 2 месяца назад

@@uTAPOUT1 I usually find this to be an issue of a dirty wiper instead of anything to do with the rain repellent coating on the windscreen itself. I usually take a little bit of glass cleaner and spray it onto a cloth and clean the wipers. You'd be surprised with the amount of gunk that's on them.

Ultra glaco works great for me, as long as the windshield is perfectly clean prior to applying. I'd say the coating it lasts close to a year, and i've done ~9 windshields and a couple rear windows with just the one bottle. Excellent product, absolutely worth the €20 tho i only paid like €8 when it was on sale.

I have been very happy with gyeon quick view however the applicator broke so I have sent it back as the lid got stuck on. It’s been three months and is as good as a week old. I clayed my glass before applying and applied some of the coating to the blades, I shouldn’t have. It juddered badly the blades needed replacing anyway and once the new blades were fitted there’s been no judder. I think dirt, the condition of the blades and how much embedded contaminants are what cause judder. I’m tempted now to get the glaco polish and gyeon. If the glaco is proven to last I would switch up. Looking forward to a glass coating video. It would be great to included a ceramic as a comparison.

  • @howarddavies136

I bought this combo on the back of the last video you did on them. I found the compound very difficult to buff off, but then I'm a bugger for over applying things, so that one it probably on me. The repellant was a joy to use though, it went on and buffed off far more easily than rain x. I don't think it's quite as repellant as rain x and I can't drive wiper free like I can with rain x, but hopefully it will last longer. I may try using the glaco cleaner followed by rain x and see how it turns out. Also a word on slickness - I have had some wiper chirp on one occasion and it seems to retain plant matter that lands on the glass, which then becomes trapped under the wipers and my experience with rain-x is that it is a slicker product, which doesn't hold contaminants and debris quite so much. Time will tell which one I end up preferring, but I can see me alternating between the two.

I personally prep my glass with a magic eraser and a claybar, and finish off with a meguirs ultimate compound or any compound or polish, I use a car pro ceramic quick detailer diluted with distilled water to clean the windows and works great each time applying a fresh coat of protection, no streaks with the proper technique, but the main thing that helps is the rainx screenwash, ready mix , with repellent in it , its just a game changer keep the blades lubricated at all times and extends their usability its not cheap but it last for a long time cause you dont need much👍👍👍

I find moonlight works really well on glass even applied it to the living room windows. Can judder on the windscreen though but topping with bh touch-on stops this.
I dilute one off touch-on in a 500ml spray bottle and it works great on glass for many months. Spray on a sponge applicator and spread. Low pressure rinse if done during the wash cycle or buff off. Takes seconds and leaves glass very hydrophobic/slick, really nice to dry on subsequent washes.

Can anyone tell me what containers they are @10:17? please ........ Thank you!

He made a comment about it in a video once. I can't remember exactly what these containers were, but it wasn't anything car-related. It could be that it was some stuff he got off a chemist or something.
Jon was quite happy with them, I recall that.
The video he mentioned these and their origins he was walking us through a bunch of his equipment/setup (could be a video about his new garage setup or something similar).

Don't forget the main thing TO DO after buffing the sealant. LET IT CURE FOR 12 HOURS !!! It says on the bottle! That way, it could last 12 months, like advertising. So no wiper blade action, no water, just let it sit for 12 hours.

I guess it's the usual cerium oxide powder .. usually also machinable.

Use mr muscle kitchen degreaser on glass. Really remove the oily film, keep spraying, leaving to soak and some green scotchbrite

I'm afraid I still don't get them on the front and rear windscreens plus side mirrors that are folded up all night long, ok a big thumbs up for really cleaning the glass but the coating only works above a certain speed so no good in traffic jams, maybe they help on your side windows but just make sure you have good window wipers that are changed more often than most people do.... sorry not worth the hassle. But a great video for those who like them.

You can tell Soft 99 has been getting their wallet out to pay for reviews. They've been around for years and suddenly Pan does a review and now this channel.

Agree. Great and informative content often spoilt by the style of presentation which is sometimes difficult and distracting to watch. Seems to be no forward planning before pressing the Record button. All the top channels (Pan, Jim White, Sandro, Apex, etc) and even some of the lowly driveway-only detailers use a tripod.

John, I think you should follow the manufacturer’s instructions implicitly for all brands. If they can’t supply a pre-sealant product or don’t feel there is value in properly prepping the surface then I don’t think you should use another manufacturer’s prep product. Firstly, it may not be optimised to work with other brands and may compromise the result and secondly, if the Glaco combo is actually the best then just say it is rather than giving other brands a leg up by prepping with the Glaco product. Just my opinion.
