i really hope they at least make her telepathy as powerful as it is in the comics. even without serving as an avatar for the phoenix force (and being empowered by it), jean grey has omega-level telepathy and alpha-level telekinesis. she also has the ability to astral project *through time,* create constructs out of psionic energy (like psylocke and kid omega), and siphon the psionic energy away from others to boost her own powers. if empathy is a separate power from telepathy, then she has that power too! jean grey, in the comics, is the most powerful non-reality warping omega.

TBH, watching the original X-Men for the first time currently, I wouldn't say that series talked down to its audience either. There were places where obvious swear words were supposed to be, but it doesn't fully sanitize the conflicts the team face (either together or individually).

Gyrich may be just an ordinary human sitting across from a weather goddess and a guy who can punch you with his eye beams, but he’s honestly the scariest person in the room, even when he’s locked up in prison. Constantly keeping Gyrich’s eyes covered by Gendo Ikari glasses is such a subtle, yet effective and unsettling design element that ironically separates him from his humanity.

Since it was already adapted in season 1, I think this show might being building up to an adaptation of "Zero Tolerace" in which the plot has the villain Bastion turns the goverment against the X-men and begin to hunt them down with his Prime Sentinels, humans who were turned into Sentinels through nano technology, which fits with what villains like Gyrich and the Friends of Humanity have been saying, that they are seeking to evolve humanity.
I'm not certain, but wasn't there a story where Master Mold somehow got its hands on Xavier's mutant abilities? Wonder if that's going to come into play later down the line.

I genuinely love the deeper point here. That Gyrich simply can't fathom the idea of cohabilitation. He is a human nationalist with the exact same arguments as those who say immigration will cause white extinction or gay/trans people will cause the extinction of masculinity. I was afraid this show would be dumbed down for the younger audience, but once again, Marvel and Disney pull a fast one and make the dialogue just as good, if not better than most of the stuff the MCU has been making. And I mean that to say that listening to Gyrich's rant made me more afraid of him than a thousand Thanos. Oh, and I have to call out the very effective foreboding tool that was used to show the disastrous effects of Jean using Cerebro when she is pregnant. Yes, she tapped into the memories of Gyrich, but she also unintentionally bridged her mind with her unborn son's. Which means one of two things: 1.) Her son is a telepath just like her and is perhaps just as powerful or more powerful than her, or 2.) The writers intentionally decided to throw in a bit of Conservative logic in the mix and stated a child at this stage of the pregnancy is fully conscious and aware of everything happening around them, even having the ability to use telepathic abilities before they've even had the chance to take their first breath. Either way, this just got extremely interesting.

Magneto is the direct result of that kind of bigotry. On top of being a victim of the Holocaust which killed his birth family, he's had to endure decades of seeing innocent mutants be harmed and killed for something they didn't do. He tried to reason with humanity and tried to follow Xavier's vision of equality. But eventually, that patience ran out and he was left with no choice but to fight. Does he go too far often? Yes. But he has legitimate reasons for his actions.

No, the X-men just didn't reveal that they're in contact with aliens. As far as the world at large knows, Prof. X died at the hands of Gyrich.
